On Z → γγ decay and cancellation of axial anomaly in Z → γγ transition amplitude for massive fermions

Z → γγ decay amplitude is considered and proven to be zero due to properties of polarization vectors and Bose statistics. Triangular diagrams for a pseudoscalar → γγ and Z → γγ processes with massive fermions in the loop are explicitely calculated. In the Standard Model axial anomaly vanishes in the sum of these diagrams as Z boson is mixed with one of the Goldstone bosons.

New physics at 1 TeV?

If decays of a heavy particle S are responsible for the diphoton excess with invariant mass 750 GeV observed at the 13 TeV LHC run, it can be easily accommodated in the Standard Model. Two scenarios are considered: production in gluon fusion through a loop of heavy isosinglet quark(s) and production in photon fusion through a loop of heavy isosinglet leptons. In the second case, many heavy leptons are needed or/and they should have large electric charges in order to reproduce experimental data on σ_{pp → SX} · Br(S → γγ).

Cross sections of large-angle hadron production in proton– and pion–nucleus interactions III: tantalum nuclei and beam momenta from ±3 GeV/c to ±15 GeV/c

We report on double-differential inclusive cross sections of the production of secondary protons, charged pions, and deuterons, in the interactions with a 5% λ _abs thick stationary tantalum target, of proton and pion beams with momentum from ±3 GeV/c to ±15 GeV/c. Results are given for secondary particles with production angles 20°<θ<125°. They are of particular relevance for the optimization of the design parameters of the proton driver of a neutrino factory.     

Iron-containing composite based on hypercrosslinked polymer sorbents in the sorption of toxic and bad-smelling substances

A simple technique for introducing iron hydroxide into a highly porous polystyrene matrix is proposed. The resulting composite sorbent showed a high ability to purify air by removing hydrogen sulfide, bad-smelling, and toxic products of decay of natural remains, such as putres-cine, cadaverine, indole, and skatol, as well as organic solvents, such as methanol and benzene.

     

Double Higgs boson production in the models with isotriplets

The enhancement of double Higgs boson production in the extensions of the Standard Model with extra isotriplets is studied. It is found that in see-saw type II model decays of new heavy Higgs can contribute to the double Higgs production cross section as much as Standard Model channels. In Georgi–Machacek model the cross section can be much larger since the custodial symmetry is preserved and the strongest limitation on triplet parameters is removed.     

Synthesis of siloxane analogs of calixarenes

First siloxane analogs of calixarenes were synthesized based on the stereoregular cis-tetraphenylcyclotetrasiloxanetetrol. Different methods were used to study properties of new compounds in bulk, as well as their behavior at the water–air interface.
