Two new eudesmane derivatives from Verbesina virginica

<正>Two new eudesmane derivatives were isolated from the leaves and flowers of Verbesina virginica,along with the known 6-O-β-E -p-coumaroyl-4α-hydroxyeudesmane(1).Their structures were determined as 6-O-β-Z-p-coumaroyl-4α-hydroxyeudesmane(2) and 6-O-α-E-p-coumaroyl-1β-4α-dihydroxyeudesmane(3) by spectroscopic methods.     

Two helium atoms inside fullerenes: probing the internal magnetic field in C60(6-) and C70(6-)

A 3He NMR resonance of C606- containing He is assigned to He2@C606-, thus showing that C60 can also accommodate two helium atoms. The ratio of the di-helium compound relative to the mono- is 1:200, 10 times lower than the equivalent counterpart of C70. The 3He NMR chemical shift of He2@C606- is 0.093 ppm downfield from the already known resonance of He@C606-. In the reduced endohedral mono- and di-helium C70, the 3He NMR chemical shift of He2@C706- is 0.154 ppm upfield from the peak of He@C706-.     

Volumetric, ultrasonic and viscometric studies of binary mixtures of dimethyl sulphoxide with chloro and nitro substituted aromatic hydrocarbons at T = 303.15 K

Excess volumes (V^E) ultrasonic sound velocities (u), isentropic compressibilities (K_s) and viscosities (η) have been measured for the binary mixtures of dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) with 1,2-dichlorobenzene, 1,3-dichlorobenzene, 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene, o-chlorotoluene, m-chlorotoluene, p-chlorotoluene, o-nitrotoluene and m-nitrotoluene at T = 303.15 K. The measured V^E values were positive over the entire composition range in all the binary mixtures. Isentropic compressibilities (K_s) have been computed for the same systems from precise sound velocity and density data. Further, deviation in isentropic compressibility (ΔK_s) from ideal behaviour was also calculated. The viscosity data are analysed on the basis of corresponding states approach. Deviation in viscosities are positive over the entire composition range. The measured data is explained on the basis of intermolecular interactions between unlike molecules.     

Effect of Pr-Ca substitution on the transport and magnetic behavior of LaMnO3 perovskite

The effect of simultaneous substitution of a fluctuating cation and a divalent cation in LaMnO₃ perovskite modifies the properties of the material to exhibit large valence colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) effect. A good example of these properties is (La_1−2x Pr _x Ca _x )MnO₃ (LPCMO) type CMR material. In this communication it is reported that, with the increase in x (for x=0.1, 0.15, 0.2), the T _c varies between 100 and 120 K with improvisation in metal-insulator transition. Interestingly, resistance increases with x from few hundred ohms to few kilo ohms with corresponding decrease in the unit cell volume. The results of the studies using X-ray diffraction (XRD), electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance and ac susceptibility measurements on LPCMO samples for understanding the structural, transport and magnetic properties are discussed in detail.     

PRESSURE-VELOCITY EQUILIBRIUM HYDRODYNAMIC MODELS

This article describes mathematical models for phase separated mixtures of materials that are in pressure and velocity equilibrium but not necessarily temperature equilibrium. General conditions for constitutive models for such mixtures that exhibit a single mixture sound speed are discussed and specific examples are described.
