The evaluation ofRosa canina L. fruits and their products is depended in part on their organic acid contents. In this study, ascorbic and citric acid contents
inRosa canina L. fruits collected from five different regions in Central Asia were investigated. Amounts of acids determined with the HPLC
method were found to be 0.048–0.1143 g/100 g for ascorbic acid and 5.9–7.5 g/100 g for citric acid.
Presented at the Third International Symposium on the Chemistry of Natural Products (Bukhara, Uzbekistan, October 19–22, 1998).

Fatty acid from the dried pulp ofZiziphus jujuba Mill. Lipids from the air-dried aerial part (AP) and seeds of Silybum marianum (L.) Gaerth. (Asteraceae) were studied. The class and fatty acid compositions of neutral lipids (AP, seeds) and glyco- and
phospholipids (AP) were determined. Neutral lipids (NL) with a complicated set of lipophilic components, mainly triterpenols,
sterols, and their esters predominated in the AP. The fatty acids of the AP were dominated by 16:0, 18:2 (glycolipids), and
18:3 (neutral lipids, phospholipids); of seed NL, by 18:2 and 18:1. The content and composition of flavolignans isolated from

The total flavonoids have been isolated from the epigeal part ofThermopsis alterniflora andTh. dolichocarpa, and the roots and rhizomes ofVexibia alopecuroides, andRhaponticum carthamoides the compositions of the flavonoids present in each of the total extracts have been determined. It was found that the total flavonoid extracts investigated exhibited different degrees of hypolipidemic activity in relation to normal animals and animals with experimental hyperlipidemias.
