Time‐dependent differential equations can be solved using the concept of method of lines (MOL) together with the boundary element (BE) representation for the spatial linear part of the equation. The BE method alleviates the need for spatial discretization and casts the problem in an integral format. Hence errors associated with the numerical approximation of the spatial derivatives are totally eliminated. An element level local cubic approximation is used for the variable at each time step to facilitate the time marching and the nonlinear terms are represented in a semi‐implicit manner by a local linearization at each time step. The Ni(II) ion catalyzed thermal decomposition of peroxomonosulfate (PMS) was studied in the pH range 3.42–5.89. The rate is first order in [PMS] and Ni(II) ion concentrations. At pH greater than or equal to 5.23, the reaction becomes zero order in [PMS] and this changeover in the order of the reaction occurs at a higher concentration of nickel ions. The first‐order kinetics in PMS can be explained as a rate‐limiting step and is the transformation of nickel peroxomonosulfate into nickel peroxide. This peroxide intermediate reacts rapidly with another PMS to give oxygen and Ni(II). The formation of nickel peroxide is associated with a small negative or nearly zero entropy of activation. The zero‐order kinetics in [PMS] can be explained by the fact that the hydrolysis of aquated nickel(II) ions into hydroxocompounds is the rate‐limiting step. The quark spin content of the nucleons is subjected to constraints implied by sum rules due to global approximate chiral symmetries and perturbativeqcd effects. The model, so obtained, has a large polarisation residing in the flavour singlet constituents of hadron. Predictions for the expected longitudinal and transverse spin asymmetries in deep inelastic lepton-nucleon scattering are made on the basis of the standard form of the electromagnetic and charged weak currents.  相似文献

Abstract— The lowest-lying allowed UV transition in p -aminobenzoic acid (PABA) is assigned Γ→1La based on quantitative absorption and fluorescence studies, as well as semiempirical PM3 multielec-tron configuration interaction calculations. The oscillator strengths, fluorescence quantum efficiencies and lifetimes are reported for PABA in several polar, nonpolar, protic and aprotic solvents (aerated) at 296 K. Reasonable agreement is found between the observed radiative rate constant and that calculated from the absorption and fluorescence spectra. Shifts in the absorption and fluorescence spectra in aprotic solvents are analyzed in terms of the Onsager reaction field model; results are consistent with an increase in dipole moment of ca 4 D between the relaxed S0 and S1, states. No evidence is found for the emission from the amino-twisted form of PABA in all solvents studied although calculations show that the amino-twisted S, state is highly polar, but higher in energy by ca 35 kJ/mol ( in vacuo ). The fluorescence efficiency is excitation wavelength independent in both methylcyclohexane and water. The temperature dependence of the nonradiative rate constant (from S1) was studied in several solvents. Nonradiative decay may be due to intersystem crossing, which would be fast enough to compete with thermally activated intramolecular NH2 twisting. The phosphorescence spectrum and lifetime obtained in an EPA glass at 77 K are reported, and the triplet energy of PABA is estimated.  相似文献

A new approach to identify the independent amplitudes along with their partial wave multipole expansions, for photo-and electro-production is suggested, which is generally applicable to mesons with arbitrary spin-parity. Composite energetic material response to electrical stimuli was investigated and a correlation between electrical conductivity and ignition sensitivity was examined. The composites consisted of micrometer particle aluminum combined with another metal, metal oxide, or fluoropolymer. Of the nine tested mixtures, aluminum (Al) with copper oxide (CuO) was the only mixture to ignite by electrostatic discharge. Under the loose powder conditions of these experiments, the Al–CuO minimum ignition energy (MIE) is 25 mJ and exhibited an electrical conductivity two orders of magnitude higher than the next composite. This study showed a similar trend in MIE for ignition triggered by a discharged spark compared with a thermal hot wire source.  相似文献

We demonstrate polarization-sensitive measurement of the modal content of waveguides by generalizing the classic rotating wave-plate-based polarimeter to wide-field optical low-coherence interferometry. The spatial phases of the modes are retrieved with principal component analysis. By applying this polarization-sensitive cross-correlation (C2) imaging technique to the characterization of a few-mode fiber, we reveal that different modes experience distinct bend-induced birefringence in optical fibers. This polarization-resolved C2 imaging is well suited for analyzing the impact of polarization on wave propagation in high-power fiber lasers as well as in mode-division-multiplexed communications systems.  相似文献

Results for the cross section and average angular momentum for complete fusion at energies around the Coulomb barrier are presented for 7Li with 165Ho. Comparison of the cross sections with a one-dimensional barrier penetration model, using a potential consistent with the measured elastic scattering, showed a reduction above the barrier and an enhancement below it. An increase in the measured average angular momentum, , above the barrier and its consistency with that obtained from the fusion excitation function for weakly bound nuclei, is reported. These results together with a reanalysis of existing data conclusively demonstrate that the effect of breakup on fusion is coherent, like coupling to any nonelastic channel.  相似文献

We discuss the notion of spin squeezing considering two mutually exclusive classes of spin-s states, namely, oriented and non-oriented states. Our analysis shows that the oriented states are not squeezed while non-oriented states exhibit squeezing. We also present a new scheme for construction of spin-s states using 2s spinors oriented along different axes. Taking the case of s=1, we show that the ‘non-oriented’ nature and hence squeezing arise from the intrinsic quantum correlations that exist among the spinors in the coupled state.  相似文献
