An adaptive scheme for the approximation of dissipative systems

We propose a new scheme for the long time approximation of a diffusion when the drift vector field is not globally Lipschitz. Under this assumption, a regular explicit Euler scheme–with constant or decreasing step–may explode and implicit Euler schemes are CPU-time expensive. The algorithm we introduce is explicit and we prove that any weak limit of the weighted empirical measures of this scheme is a stationary distribution of the stochastic differential equation. Several examples are presented including gradient dissipative systems and Hamiltonian dissipative systems.     

111In–L–LDL and 153Gd–L–LDL as radiotracers for detection of AR4‐2J rat pancreatic tumors

Pancreatic cancer has an extremely poor prognosis, due, in part, to lack of methods for early diagnosis. The present study was designed to evaluate the potential of labeling low‐density lipoprotein (LDL) with a radionuclide using a lipid chelating agent, bis(stearylamide) of diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (L), to detect pancreatic tumors by gamma‐scintigraphy. Previous studies indicated that the difficulty of visualization of pancreatic tumors was due to their poor vascularization. This study compares the ability of two radiotracers, ¹¹¹In–L–LDL and ¹⁵³Gd–L–LDL to target highly vascularized rat pancreatic tumors (AR4‐2J) implanted in nude mice. Biodistribution studies showed that the tumor uptake of ¹¹¹In–L–LDL and ¹⁵³Gd–L–LDL tracers was twofold and fivefold higher respectively than with the controls (¹¹¹In citrate and ¹⁵³Gd citrate respectively). These tracers would thus be suitable for scintigraphic imaging. We show here that LDL could be employed as a delivery system for tracers such as ¹¹¹In or ¹⁵³Gd when these two radionuclides are complexed by a lipid‐chelating anchor, and that ¹¹¹In–L–LDL and ¹⁵³Gd–L–LDL enabled better visualization of the pancreatic tumor tissues, with a better result with ¹⁵³Gd–L–LDL. Proton-proton correlations at small relative momentum in neon-nucleus collisions at E/A=400 and 800 MeV

Proton-proton small angle correlations have been measured in neon-nucleus collisions, using the 4 pi detector Diogene, at 400 and 800 MeV per nucleon incident energies. Values of the size of the emitting region are obtained by comparison with the Koonin formula, taking into account the biases of the apparatus. The dependence of the density on target mass and incident energy is also analysed.     

Study of the acidity of H3PW12O40 supported on activated carbon by microcalorimetry and methanol dehydration reaction

H₃PW₁₂O₄₀/activated carbon catalysts have been studied by microcalorimetry and by the dehydration of methanol to dimethyl ether. It has been shown that the acidity of the polyacid is greatly reduced upon grafting on activated carbon. The decrease is so high that, at low polyanion loadings, the catalysts are relatively inactive in the dehydration of methanol to dimethyl ether.     

Convergence of diagonally stationary sequences in convex optimization

Such sequences arise in approximation methods for the problem of minimizingf. Some general convergence results based upon variational convergence theory and appropriate equi-well-posedness are presented.     

Complexes acetyleniques de titane(II). Reactivite vis-a-vis de l'hydrogene moleculaire: Une nouvelle approche du titanocene

¹³C NMR measurements were performed on [Re₃(μ-H)₃(CO)₁₀]^2? at various temperatures and field strengths. Selective decoupling allowed assignments of the carbonyl resonances. Spin-lattice relaxation time measurements indicated that two mechanisms, scalar coupling and chemical shielding anisotropy, contribute to the relaxation of carbon-13. Variable temperature experiments revealed that more than one mechanism is responsible for the fluxional behaviour.     

Heterogenization of a chiral bis(oxazoline) catalyst by grafting onto silica

[reaction: see text] We report here the first heterogenization of a bis(oxazoline) ligand on an inorganic (silica) surface. The activity and enantioselectivity of this new material as a catalyst for the Diels-Alder reaction were checked, and it was shown that under certain conditions enantioselectivities similar to those of the homogeneous catalyst are reached. It was also shown that under these conditions the catalyst can be recycled without loss of activity or selectivity.
