Chlorination of aromatic substrates catalyzed by the phthalocyanine complexes

The chlorination of benzene, toluene, and o-xylene with molecular chlorine in the presence of the phthalocyanine complexes of different structures was studied. Alkylation ofβ-diketones of the hexahydroindan series and their enamines

Conclusions The reactions of hexahydro-1,3-indandlone with ammonia and some amines were studied, and the structures of the products formed were proved. Circular dichroism of some pregnenes substitutes at C-17

The optical properties of pregnenes containing different substituents at C-17 (—SCN, —SAc, —SC(CH₃)₂O—, —Br, —OAc, —N₃) have been investigated with the help of the CD spectra. It is shown that the sign and value of the Cotton effect of the carbonyl chromophore n → π^* transition is determined by the nature of the substituent at C-17.     

Magnetic properties of copper(II) complexes with some hydrazones of substituted salicylaldehydes

A series of novel mono-and binuclear copper(II) complexes with substituted salicylaldehyde acylhydrazones H₂L of the formula CuL · xH2O (x = 0 and 1) and [Cu(HL)](ClO₄)(CH₃OH) were synthesized. The isolated dimeric complexes of copper acetate were found to exist as isomers with different bridging atoms. In dimers showing a superexchange between the paramagnetic centers through bridging phenoxide O atoms, the antiferromagnetic exchange couplings were much stronger than those in complexes with bridging O atoms of the a-oxyazine fragment.     

Synthesis of dihydrothieno[3,4-b]indoles

A new heterocyclic system — 3-imino-4-methyldihydrothieno[3,4-b]indole — was obtained by treatment of 1-methylindole-2-carboxylic acid thioamide with aldehydes or ketones in the presence of hydrogen chloride. Reactions involving saponification and acetylation of the imino group of the thieno ring and opening of the thieno ring by the action of LiAlH₄ to give a bis(indolylphenylmethyl) sulfide were carried out. A scheme is proposed in which the SH group of the thioamide adds to the carbonyl compound in the first step, after which the product undergoes intramolecular cyclization in the 3 position of indole.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 10, pp. 1327–1331, October, 1977.
