Recent developments have led to the introduction of advanced thermoplastic composites such as Polyphenylene Sulphide (PPS), which can be used structurally at higher temperatures. Because of its thermoplastic nature, it can also be hot worked by bringing the working temperature considerably above the glass transition temperature. However, such annealing processes also affect its degree of crystallinity, which in turn affect the properties of the material. This paper reports on the effect of matrix crystallinity on the rate of creep deformation in three point bending of some reinforced PPS composites. This work was based on a non-linear approach based on a Power law creep model creep deformation analysis. The effect of annealing on the non-linear creep deformation of the PPS composite specimens has been analysed using a Power Law creep model. Results indicate that the creep deformation for both 20 and 40% reinforced samples were relatively similar despite the difference in the amount of fibre reinforcement. In contrast, the value of the creep component decreased exponentially with the % crystallinity. for both 20 and 40%, reinforced samples. 相似文献

This study evaluates the kinetic hydrate inhibition (KHI) performance of four quaternary ammonium hydroxides (QAH) on mixed CH4 + CO2 hydrate systems. The studied QAHs are; tetraethylammonium hydroxide (TEAOH), tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAOH), tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAOH), and tetrapropylammonium hydroxide (TPrAOH). The test was performed in a high-pressure hydrate reactor at temperatures of 274.0 K and 277.0 K, and a concentration of 1 wt.% using the isochoric cooling method. The kinetics results suggest that all the QAHs potentially delayed mixed CH4 + CO2 hydrates formation due to their steric hindrance abilities. The presence of QAHs reduced hydrate formation risk than the conventional hydrate inhibitor, PVP, at higher subcooling conditions. The findings indicate that increasing QAHs alkyl chain lengths increase their kinetic hydrate inhibition efficacies due to better surface adsorption abilities. QAHs with longer chain lengths have lesser amounts of solute particles to prevent hydrate formation. The outcomes of this study contribute significantly to current efforts to control gas hydrate formation in offshore petroleum pipelines. 相似文献

Current percolation in weakly nonlinear two-dimensional periodic structures near a metal-insulator transition is studied.
It is shown that the nonlinear conductivity exhibits critical behavior as a function of the density of the insulating and
superconducting inclusions. The possibility of experimentally observing the effects predicted is discussed.

In this study, a new unified creep constitutive relation and a modified energy-based fatigue model have been established respectively
to describe the creep flow and predict the fatigue life of Sn−Pb solders. It is found that the relation successfully elucidates
the creep mechanism related to current constitutive relations. The model can be used to describe the temperature and frequency
dependent low cycle fatigue behavior of the solder. The relation and the model are further employed in part II to develop
the numerical simulation approach for the long-term reliability assessment of the plastic ball grid array (BGA) assembly.

A simple and sensitive high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was developed to determine residual Pluronic F-68 (PF-68) in in-process samples of monoclonal antibody (MAb) preparations. The method permits the direct injection of proteinaceous samples after simple sample dilution and is able to quantitate as low as 50 mg/L of PF-68 in the presence of up to approximately 30 g/L of protein. The PF-68 molecule was separated on a restricted access reversed phase column using a step gradient and then measured by an evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD). The method was successfully applied to demonstrate PF-68 clearance in MAb purification processes. A modified colorimetric method using liquid-liquid extraction and cobalt thiocyanate to derivatize PF-68 is also described. The results obtained by both the HPLC and colorimetric methods were compared. In addition to its ease of use and simplicity, the HPLC method had better accuracy and higher throughput than the colorimetric method. 相似文献

There have been differences in the literature concerning the power law relationship between the Bloor-Gerrard instability
frequency of the separated shear layer from the circular cylinder, the Bénard-von Kármán vortex shedding frequency and the
Reynolds number. Most previous experiments have shown a significant degree of scatter in the measurement of the development
of the shear layer vortices. Shear layers are known to be sensitive to external influences, which can provide a by-pass transition
to saturated growth, thereby camouflaging the fastest growing linear modes. Here, the spatial amplification rates of the shear
layer instabilities are calculated using power-spectral density estimates, allowing the fastest growing modes rather than
necessarily the largest structures to be determined. This method is found to be robust in determining the fastest growing

Thermal decomposition of metal-organic precursors for the mixed oxide BaBiO3 was studied using TG and EGA. Precursors produced by polyesterification of bifunctional acids with ethylene glycol (Pechini process) decomposed about 100°C higher than those without the diol. BaCO3 was identified by IR and XRD as a reaction intermediate. EGA proved that the amount of BaCO3 was below 10% of the total barium, and that the barium exists mainly as a nitro-compound up to 650°C. Phase-pure BaBiO3 with a moderately high surface area (1.4 m2/g) could be synthesised from a citrate precursor by the Pechini process at around 850°C. 相似文献

Conductometry was employed to study the phase evolution of calcium phosphate compounds during the wet-chemical synthesis of hydroxyapatite (HA). Calcium hydroxide and orthophosphoric acid were used to prepare HA at various temperatures ranging from 30 to 95 degrees C. The electrical conductivity and pH of the reaction mixture were measured at regular intervals of time during acid addition, and the rate of change of conductivity was used to decipher the end point of the reaction. Our previous studies have shown that the end product of this reaction route yields mildly carbonated crystalline HA. The trend of the change in conductivity with time was similar at all temperatures. The conductivity curves were divided into three regions based on the variation in slope of the curves. The slope of the curves decreased with increasing temperatures in the first two regions, and the slope is greater in the second region than in the first. From the conductivity and pH measurement results, the possible precursor phase was identified and it had the composition Ca(3)(PO(4))(2). The kinetics of phase transformation was also analyzed and compared to previous work. The similarities between this work and the traditionally adapted experimental work for phase formation and transformation kinetics are highlighted, and the novelty in the current work is discussed. 相似文献
