Regioselective Synthesis of Substituted Triazolium Salts <Emphasis Type="Italic">via</Emphasis> 1,3-Dipolar Cycloaddition Reactions

Summary. The regioselectivity of 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of 1-aza-2-azoniaallene salts with ,-unsaturated nitriles such as acrylonitrile or cyclohexylidene acetonitrile afforded only 1,2,4-triazolium salts via addition to the nitrile group, while the other expected pyrazolium salts were not observed. Moreover, 1-aza-2-azonia-allene salts reacted with other competitive systems such as -iminonitrile derivatives yielding only triazolium salts via addition to the nitrile and not to the imino group. Treatment of cumulene with 3-pyridylnitrile afforded the pyridinium salt. However, 2,3-dimethyl-5-(2,6-dimethoxyphenyl)-[1,2,4]triazole could be prepared from cumulene and 2,6-dimethoxybenzonitrile. Some reactions of nitriles with 1-aza-2-azonia-allene salts prepared from 1,2,3-indantrione and 9-acetylphenanthrene are discussed.     

170 Mb/s multilevel transmission over 115 m standard step-index plastic optical fiber using an integrated optical receiver

An optical receiver having a high linearity is used for multilevel communication over standard step plastic optical fiber. A large-diameter photodiode with an antireflection coating optimized for red light was integrated. These features enable the used optical receiver to be a promising plastic optical fiber receiver. An error free (< 10⁻⁸) 170 Mb/s data rate over 115 m standard PMMA step-index plastic optical fiber is achieved with four-level and eight-level pulse amplitude modulation.

Metal Chelates of Hydrazo-Dimedon Dyes. Chelating Tendencies of 5,5-Dimethylcyclohexane-2-(2-Carboxyphenyl,and 3-Carboxyphenyl)-Hydrazono 1,3-Dione (DC-2-CPHD and DC-3-CPHD)

The consecutive stepwise formation constants of 1:1 and 1:2 chelate species formed by the interaction of DC-2-CPHD and DC-3-CPHD anions with tripositive lanthanon and divalent copper, nickel, cobalt, zinc, manganese, and cadmium cations were determined potentiometrically at ionic strengh of 0.1 (KNO₃) and 30°C. The results indicate that two different coordination modes, one tridentate (DC-2-CPHD), and one bidentate (DC-3-CPHD), are in evidence.     

Isomeric diadamantylphosphinic acid chlorides

The syntheses of isomeric diadamantylphosphinic acid chlorides are reported. By high-field two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy all proton and carbon-13 signals were identified and assigned unequivocally. Diastereotopism effects and the conformational behaviour of these compounds are discussed.     

Characterization and de novo sequencing of Atlantic salmon vitellogenin protein by electrospray tandem and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry

Vitellogenin (VTG) is a protein produced by the liver of oviparous animals in response to circulating estrogens. In the plasma of males and immature females, VTG is undetectable. VTG has been used as a biomarker for exposure to endocrine disruptors in many species. In the present study, characterization of intact Atlantic salmon VTG was effected using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI ToF MS). Tryptic digest peptides were analyzed by MALDI ToF MS to obtain a peptide mass fingerprint. De novo sequencing of the tryptic peptides used low-energy collisionally-induced dissociation (CID) in an electrospray ionization quadrupole-ToF orthogonal hybrid mass spectrometer (ESI Q-ToF MS/MS). The interpretation of the product-ion spectra obtained from the ESI Q-ToF MS/MS was done by Lutefisk, a computer-based software algorithm. The molecular mass of the intact protein was found to be 187335 Da. A total of 14 tryptic peptides were sequenced and compared with the complete rainbow trout VTG and the partial Atlantic salmon VTG sequences found in the Swiss-Prot database. De novo sequencing by CID MS/MS of 11 Atlantic salmon tryptic digest peptides with selected precursor ions at m/z 788.24, 700.20, 794.75, 834.31, 889.28, 819.79, 865.27, 843.81, 572.20, 573.66 and 561.68 showed high homology with the known sequence of rainbow trout VTG. The last two precursor peptide ions, found at m/z 573.66 and m/z 561.68, also specifically matched the known portion of the Atlantic salmon VTG sequence. Finally, three tryptic precursor peptide ions found at m/z 795.18, 893.28 and 791.05, provided product-ion spectra, which were exclusive to the unsequenced portion of the Atlantic salmon VTG.     

The reaction of 2,4,6-tris(trimethylsiloxy)-1,3,5-triazine with chlorocarbenium ions: a new access to 1-oxa-3-azabutatrienium and 2-azaallenium salts

Chlorocarbenium salts - of the Vilsmeier-Arnold type react with the silylated isocyanuric acid to give 1-oxa-3-azabutatrienium salts under mild conditions. From reactions of diarylchloromethenium salts - with and ketones or tertiary carboxamides high yields of 2-azaallenium salts were obtained. A few chloro substituted 2-azaallenium salts were prepared from and carbonyl compounds. The mechanisms of the new reactions are discussed.     

The Complexation of Some Transition Metals by Acetoacetanilidehydrazo Ligands “Stability Constants”

Acid dissociation constants of acetoacetanilide abbreviated (AAA); Orthocarboxy-phenylhydrazoacetoacetanilide (o-CPHAAA); and orthocarboxy-phenylhydrazo-parachloro-acetoacetanilide (o-CPH-p-Cl-AAA) and chelate stability constants of the corresponding anions with Cu⁺², Ni⁺², CO⁺², Zn⁺², Mn⁺², and Cd⁺² ions are reported. The infra-red spectra of o-CPHAAA and o-CPH-p-Cl-AAA ligands and their chelates for copper and nickel are discussed.     

Rovibrational laser jet-cooled spectroscopy of the NH3–Ar complex in the ν2 umbrella region of NH3: comparison between new infrared data and an ab initio calculated spectrum*

ABSTRACT

Five ortho and para bands of the ν₂ umbrella mode of the NH₃–Ar van der Waals complex have been recorded at high resolution using jet-cooled infrared laser spectroscopy. A rovibrational analysis provides accurate band centres and upper state rotational constants for the Π_s(j?=?1,k?=?0)?←?Σ_a(j,k?=?0) and Σ_s(j?=?1,k?=?0)?←?Σ_a(j,k?=?0) ortho bands. The puzzling para bands observed in the region of the lower and upper components of the inversion splitting doublet have been assigned by comparison with rovibrational and tunnelling levels and transitions calculated ab initio. The latter calculations are based on the four-dimensional potential energy surface reported by Loreau et al. [J. Chem. Phys. 141, 224303 (2014)], which takes explicitly into account the umbrella motion of the ammonia molecule. The very good agreement found between Π_s/a,lower(j?=?1,k?=?1)?←?Σ_a(j?=?1,k?=?1) and Π_s/a,upper(j?=?1,k?=?1)?←?Σ_s(j?=?1,k?=?1) experimental and calculated transitions has been exploited to determine precisely two different inversion splittings in the ν₂ state (32.003(1) and 36.008(1)?cm^?1) from extrapolated Q(0) line frequencies and to obtain a qualitative picture of Coriolis couplings present in both the ν₂?=?0 and ν₂?=?1 states.
