The preparation of a set of standards for the calibration of the analysis of deuterium using the2H/3He, p/4He reaction is described. Important considerations in the selection of a suitable standard are that it should be stable under irradiation and be simple to prepare with ready control of the amount of analyte. These requirements were met by Ca/OH/2 which was prepared by the replacement of hydrogen with its isotope in known proportions in the reaction of CaO with water.  相似文献

The first spectroscopic observation of bound N2-Ar van der Waals molecules has been achieved with a cryogenic long path cell maintained at 87 K. The infra-red spectrum exhibits prominent fine structure near the N2 stretching frequency which is assigned to hindered internal rotation of N2 within the weakly bound complex. An analysis of this fine structure yields a T-shaped equilibrium geometry in which the N2 bond axis is perpendicular to the N2-Ar van der Waals bond axis. The observed spectrum is shown to be consistent with an internal rotational barrier of 20 cm-1 (57 cal/mole). Approximately 20 per cent of the bound species are trapped by this rotational barrier and acquire a locked semi-rigid structure. The remaining 80 per cent have ill-defined geometry and undergo hindered internal rotation. The rotational envelope of an infra-red fundamental is analysed to give an estimate of the N2-Ar bond length as 3·9 Å.  相似文献

We demonstrate terahertz (THz) frequency imaging using a single quantum cascade laser (QCL) device for both generation and sensing of THz radiation. Detection is achieved by utilizing the effect of self-mixing in the THz QCL, and, specifically, by monitoring perturbations to the voltage across the QCL, induced by light reflected from an external object back into the laser cavity. Self-mixing imaging offers high sensitivity, a potentially fast response, and a simple, compact optical design, and we show that it can be used to obtain high-resolution reflection images of exemplar structures.  相似文献

The branching ratio of 225Ac decay by emission of 14C was remeasured under improved experimental conditions by using a radioactive source produced at the ISOLDE mass-separator at CERN and a nuclear track detector technique. The result, B = λ14Cα = (4.5±1.4)10-12, is consistent with the anomalously high value obtained in the 1993 experiment, thus confirming the importance of nuclear-structure effects in this exotic decay. The arterial input function (AIF) is important for quantitative MR imaging perfusion experiments employing Gd contrast agents. This study compared the accuracy of T(2)*-weighted magnitude and phase imaging for noninvasive measurement of the AIF in the rat aorta. Twenty-eight in vivo experiments were performed involving simultaneous arterial blood sampling and MR imaging following Gd injection. In vitro experiments were also performed to confirm the in vivo results. At 1.89 T and TE=3 ms, the relationship between changes in 1/T(2)* in blood (estimated from MR signal magnitude) and Gd concentration ([Gd]) was measured to be approximately 19 s(-1) mM(-1), while that between phase and [Gd] was approximately 0.19 rad mM(-1). Both of these values are consistent with previously published results. The in vivo phase data had approximately half as much scatter with respect to [Gd] than the in vivo magnitude data (r(2)=.34 vs. r(2)=.17, respectively). This is likely due to the fact that the estimated change in 1/T(2)* is more sensitive than the phase to a variety of factors such as partial volume effects and T(1) weighting. Therefore, this study indicates that phase imaging may be a preferred method for measuring the AIF in the rat aorta compared to T(2)*-weighted magnitude imaging.  相似文献

The global dispersion of hemoglobin variants through population migration has precipitated a need for their identification. A particularly effective mass spectrometry (MS)-based procedure involves analysis of the intact globin chains in diluted blood to detect the variant through mass anomalies, followed by location of the variant amino acid residue by direct analysis of the enzymatically digested globins. Here we demonstrate the use of ion mobility separation in combination with this MS procedure to reduce mass spectral complexity. In one example, the doubly charged tryptic peptide from a low abundance variant (4%) occurred at the same m/z value as a singly and a doubly charged interfering ion. In another example, the singly charged tryptic peptide from an alpha-chain variant (26%) occurred at the same m/z value as a doubly charged interfering ion. Ion mobility was used to separate the variant ions from the interfering ions, thus allowing the variant peptides to be observed and sequenced by tandem mass spectrometry.  相似文献

The copper(II) complex [Cu(NO3)(PyTz)2](NO3) has been previously characterized means X‐ray powder diffraction and now studied by IR spectroscopy, UV‐Vis‐NIR diffuse reflectance, magnetic susceptibility measurement, electronic spin resonance (ESR) and thermal analysis. The results are correlated with a distorted square pyramidal coordination around copper(II) ion rather than the cis‐distorted octahedral stereochemistry of a CuN4OO′ chromophore in good concordance with their structure. Likewise, in order to indicate towards what square pyramidal isomer the complex is distorted, the method proposed by Carugo and Bisi has been applied to the structural data of [Cu(NO3)(PyTz)2](NO3). It is deduced that there is a large distortion from the trigonal bipyramid geometry, close to a square pyramid geometry, being produced almost exclusively through the B route of the Berry mechanism.  相似文献

An interactive computer program is described which implements the procedure proposed in “A Formal System for Fuzzy Reasoning” [1]. The problem in question is that of deciding what conclusions may be drawn in the presence of (posibly conflicting) evidence provided, generally with associated partial degrees of belief, by several sources of differing reliability. In using the program, each piece of evidence is entered as a sentence (using the terms NOT, AND, OR, IMPLIES as necessary), with an associated ‘degree of belief’ and ‘weight’; followed by a tentative conclusion. The system returns the degree(s) of belief and weight(s) which may rationally be attached to the conclusion. Copies of the program, written in FORTRAN IV (870 lines) have been lodged with the program libraries CUBE, DECUS, and SHARE, or may be obtained by writing to the author.  相似文献
