Equation of motion of small bodies in relativity

There is proven a theorem, to the effect that a material body in general relativity, in a certain limit of sufficiently small size and mass, moves along a geodesic.

By investigation of isomeric ²H- and ¹³C-labelled C₉H₁₁ Cl-compounds it has been shown that the ion [M ? Cl]⁺ is transformed mainly to the ion [C₇H₇]⁺ via C₂H₄-elimination from alkyl-substituted tropylium-ions. Phenyl-cyclopropane-cations play only a small part, if at all, in this fragmentation process.     

A Stereospecific Synthesis of (E,Z)-α, β-γ, δ-Diunsaturated Aldehydes,Ketones, and Esters Using the Benary Reaction

The reaction between (Z)-1-alkenyllithium and (E)-β-(N, N-dialkylamino)-α, β-alkenals, (E)-β-(N, N-dialkylamino)-α, β-alkenones or (E)-β-(N, N-dialkylamino)-α, β-alkenoic esters yields mainly (E, Z)-α, β-γ, δ-diunsaturated aldehydes, ketones, or esters and is therefore highly stereospecific.     

Synthesis of (-)-2s,3s, 11s,12r-2,3,11,12-tetraphenyl[18]crown-6

The synthesis of ( - ) 2S,3S,11S,12R-2, 3,11,12-tetraphenyl [18]-crown-6 from (-)-1S,2S-hydrobenzoin and meso-hydrobenzoin is described. Chemical shifts and vicinal coupling constants of the benzylic protons in the 2 S, 3 S and 11 S,12 R substructures in the free ligands and in complexes with KSCN and 1-phenylethylammonium bromides and a brief discussion of the related conformational changes are also presented. A detailed procedure for the resolution of racemic hydrobenzoin is given.     

Contributions to the relativistic mechanics of continuous media

This is a translation from German of an article originally published inProceedings of the Mathematical-Natural Science Section of the Mainz Academy of Science and Literature, Nr. 11, 1961 (pp. 792–837) (printed by Franz Steiner and Co, Wiesbaden), which is Paper IV in the series Exact Solutions of the Field Equations of General Relativity Theory by Pascual Jordan, Jürgen Ehlers, Wolfgang Kundt and Rainer K. Sachs. The translation has been carried out by G. F. R. Ellis (Department of Applied Mathematics, University of Cape Town), assisted by P. K. S. Dunsby, so that this outstanding review paper can be readily accessible to workers in the field today. As far as possible, the translation has preserved both the spirit and the form of the original paper. Despite its age, it remains one of the best reviews available in this area.     

n-Barbilian Domains

The notion of Barbilian domain as introduced and studied by W. Leißner [14], [16] and others is refined here to n-Barbilian domain in a free module of rank n. This leads to results that bear on n-dimensional affine ring geometry. The case of infinite rank is also considered. AMS Classification: 51C05.
