Crystallographic report: Bis{[diacetyl‐bis(2,6‐isopropylphenylimine)]nickel(I)(µ‐chloro)}

The first α‐diimine nickel(I) complex having a chloro bridge is reported. The centrosymmetric dinuclear structure of {[ArN?C(Me)C(Me)?NAr]NiCl}₂[Ar?2,6?C₆H₃(i‐Pr)₂] features two chelating α‐diimine ligands and two bridged chlorine atoms, so that a distorted tetrahedral N₂Cl₂ coordination geometry for nickel results. THE PARAMETER KERNELS FOR THE LINEAR INVERSION OF THE FREE OSCILLATION OF THE EARTH (Ⅰ)

In the linear inversion of the radial variation of the parameters of the Earth by usingthe observed frequencies of various normal modes of free oscillation of the earth, it is neces-sary to know the values of the kernels of the parameters ρ, μ and λ. This paper describesthe methods of the derivation of the formulas of these kernels. This is the first part of thepaper in which only the toroidal oscillations are considered. They are much simpler thanthose of the spheroidal ones, that we will consider in the second part of the paper. The data of the two types of oscillations are equally important in the solution of theinversion problem, and should be employed simultaneously, and we know that the toroidaloscillations are much simpler than the spheroidal ones, it seems wise to divide the whole programof the inversion problem into steps: first, by employing the toroidal data to correct the twoparameters ρ and μ in the mantle, then by using the spheroidal data to correct the remain-ing parameters, i.e. th     

Rational design of an “all-in-one” phototheranostic

We report here porphodilactol derivatives and their corresponding metal complexes. These systems show promise as “all-in-one” phototheranostics and are predicated on a design strategy that involves controlling the relationship between intersystem crossing (ISC) and photothermal conversion efficiency following photoexcitation. The requisite balance was achieved by tuning the aromaticity of these porphyrinoid derivatives and forming complexes with one of two lanthanide cations, namely Gd³⁺ and Lu³⁺. The net result led to a metalloporphodilactol system, Gd-trans-2, with seemingly optimal ISC efficiency, photothermal conversion efficiency and fluorescence properties, as well as good chemical stability. Encapsulation of Gd-trans-2 within mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) allowed its evaluation for tumour diagnosis and therapy. It was found to be effective as an “all-in-one” phototheranostic that allowed for NIR fluorescence/photoacoustic dual-modal imaging while providing an excellent combined PTT/PDT therapeutic efficacy in vitro and in vivo in 4T1-tumour-bearing mice.

Catalytic asymmetric vinylation of ketones

This communication describes the catalytic asymmetric 1,2-addition of vinylzinc reagents to aromatic, alpha,beta-unsaturated, and dialkyl ketones with enantioselectivities between 79 and 97% and with yields ranging from 84 to 98%. The products of these reactions are tertiary allylic alcohols with chiral quaternary centers that are useful in organic synthesis. The reaction involves hydrozirconation of a terminal alkyne, transmetalation to zinc, and addition to a ketone in the presence of a chiral titanium-based Lewis acid catalyst. The reactions proceed smoothly at room temperature in under 24 h.

Synthesis of the Salmonella type E(1) core trisaccharide as a probe for the generality of 1-(benzenesulfinyl)piperidine/triflic anhydride combination for glycosidic bond formation from thioglycosides

A synthesis of a chromogenic glycoside of the Salmonella anatum group E(1) core trisaccharide is presented in which all three glycosidic bonds, a 1,2-cis-equatorial, a 1,2-trans-axial, and a 1,2-trans-equatorial linkage representing three of the four main classes of glycosidic bond, are formed with thioglycoside donors activated under a single set of conditions by the combination of 1-(benzenesulfinyl)piperidine and trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride. 2,3-O-Carbonyl- and 2,3-O-isopropylidene-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl thioglycosides are found to be highly alpha-selective rhamnosyl donors under these conditions.     

Noether-Mei Symmetry of Mechanical System in Phase Space

In this paper, a new kind of symmetry and its conserved quantities of a mechanical system in phase space are studied. The definition of this new symmetry, i.e., a Noether-Mei symmetry, is presented, and the criterion of this symmetry is also given. The Noether conserved quantity and the Mei conserved quantity deduced from the Noether-Mei symmetry of the system are obtained. Finally, two examples are given to illustrate the application of the results.

Scope and regioselectivity of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azides with methyl 2-perfluoroalkynoates for an easy,metal-free route to perfluoroalkylated 1,2,3-triazoles

1,3-Dipolar cycloadditions of methyl 2-perfluoroalkynoates with various azides have been examined, leading to a simple metal-free synthetic protocol for the synthesis of perfluoroalkylated 1,2,3-triazoles. The regiochemical results demonstrated that the cycloaddition was controlled by FMO (the frontier molecular obitals) interaction and steric hindrance in transition states.
