Carbene complexes : IV. Far infrared and 31P NMR spectra of palladium and platinum carbene complexes

Infrared bands mainly associated with v(M—X₂) stretching modes (M = Pd or Pt, and X = Cl, Br, or P) have been identified in the spectra of 35 carbene complexes. Based on these results and on |¹J| (³¹ P—¹⁹⁵ Pt) the trans-influence of the carbene ligands is assessed.

Es wurde eine Laboreinrichtung zur kontiniuerlichen Aktivierungsanalyse strömender, Flüssigkeiten entworfen und gebaut. Die Einrichtung bestecht aus dem Vorratsbehälter für die Probelösung, der Aktivierungskammer, einer Pu-Be-Neutronenquelle, der Meβkammer, der Meβeinrichtung, einer Laborpumpe und einem Strömungsmesser. Die vorläufigen Versuche bewiesen, daβ mit der gebauten Einrichtung die Bestimmung von Vanadium, Silber and Kobalt möglich ist.     

Radiation effect studies in single crystal of Trifluoroacetyl-α-Aminoisobutyric acid

In this study, electron paramagnetic resonance of γ-irradiated single crystals of N-Trifluoroacetyl-α-amino isobutyric acid (F₃Ac-Aib-OH) was investigated at room temperature and analyzed for different orientations of the crystal in the magnetic field. The paramagnetic species in N-Trifluoroacetyl-α-aminoisobutyric acid was attributed to the ?F₂-R radical (R= CONHC(CH₃)COOH). Hyperfine coupling constants and g value were also determined. In addition, the single crystal of F₃Ac-Aib-OH was UV-irradiated and paramagnetic species formed was studied at room temperature. The effects of gamma irradiation on fluoroamino acid and stability were discussed.     

The cytotoxic activities of imidazole derivatives prepared from various guanylhydrazone and phenylglyoxal monohydrate

Abstract

A series of imidazole derivatives were synthesized from two-component condensation reaction of phenylgloxal monohydrate with guanylhydrazone. They were characterized by spectroscopic and analytical techniques. The in vitro anticancer evaluation of these compounds was done on human breast cancer (MCF-7) and human liver cancer (HepG2) cell lines using the MTT assay method. Most of the newly synthesized compounds displayed cytotoxic activity against these cancerous cells. In fact, compounds 3a, 3e, and 3?h exhibited more cytotoxic activities than the positive control drugs, fluro-5, and irinocam, against the MCF-7 cell line. Almost all the compounds, except for three, 3b, 3d, and 3f, gave more cytotoxic results than cisplatin. Therefore, these compounds could be considered for further development as anticancer drug candidates.     

Spectroscopy and X-ray studies of {{6,6′-dimethoxy-2,2′-[ethane-1,2-diyl-bis-(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenolato}(aqua)-dioxouranium(VI)} dehydrate

The C₁₈H₂₀N₂O₇U · 2H₂O (I) complex has been prepared and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction properties (CIF file CCDC no. 913243). The title compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic system, space group Pbca with a = 19.542(5), b = 9.916(5), c = 21.940(5) Å, V = 4252(3) ų and Z = 8. In complex I, the U atom has a distorted pentagonal-bipyramidal geometry with a tetradentate Schiff base ligand and water molecule in the equatorial plane and oxo atoms in the axial positions. The crystal packing occurs intra-inter molecular hydrogen bonds.     

Double Vivaldi antenna for wireless optical networks on chip

In this paper we present a double plasmonic Vivaldi antenna for on-chip optical wireless communication. The proposed antenna is a two-element broadside array fed by a silicon waveguide. The designs of the power splitter and of the hybrid Si-plasmonic coupler used for antenna excitation are described in detail. The array radiation characteristics are optimized through Finite Difference Time Domain simulations and the performance of a point-to-point link is evaluated. The proposed double Vivaldi array increases the gain of 3 dB with respect to a single antenna, improving the received power on a link of 6 dB when the double antenna is used for both transmitting and receiving sections.     

Quantum Fourier Transform-Based Arithmetic Logic Unit on a Quantum Processor

This study proposes and construct a primitive quantum arithmetic logic unit (qALU) based on the quantum Fourier transform (QFT). The qALU is capable of performing arithmetic ADD (addition) and logic NAND gate operations. It designs a scalable quantum circuit and presents the circuits for driving ADD and NAND operations on two-input and four-input quantum channels, respectively. By comparing the required number of quantum gates for serial and parallel architectures in executing arithmetic addition, it evaluates the performance. It also execute the proposed quantum Fourier transform-based qALU design on real quantum processor hardware provided by IBM. The results demonstrate that the proposed circuit can perform arithmetic and logic operations with a high success rate. Furthermore, it discusses in detail the potential implementations of the qALU circuit in the field of computer science, highlighting the possibility of constructing a soft-core processor on a quantum processing unit.     

Unitary quantum groups,quantum projective spaces andq-oscillators

We discuss the parametrization of quantum groups in terms of independent operators. We find that this consideration leads to the parametrization ofSU _q(2) in terms of aq-oscillator plus a commuting phase. The commuting phase is naturally identified with the subgroupU(1) and the remaining cosetSU _q(2)/U(1)=CP _q(1) consists of aq-oscillator. For unitary quantum groupsSU _q (n), the analogous construction results in the quantum projective spaceSU _q(n+1)/U _q (n)=CP _q (n) being identified with then-dimensionalq-oscillator. This yields a nonlinear action of the quantum groupSU _q(n+1) on then-dimensionalq-oscillator.
