The encapsulation of the nanocrystalline manganese‐doped zinc sulfide (ZnS:Mn) in poly(styrene‐b‐2vinylpyridine) (PS‐PVP) diblock copolymers is reported. Below the critical micelle concentration in the absence of nanocrystals (NCs), inverse micelles of PS‐PVP were induced by adding ZnS:Mn NCs, the presence of which was confirmed by scanning force microscope and dynamic light scattering. In toluene, a PS‐selective solvent, the less‐soluble PVP blocks preferentially surround the ligand‐coated ZnS:Mn NCs. For PS‐PVP encapsulated ZnS:Mn NCs, the ratio of blue emission to orange emission of ZnS:Mn NCs is dependent on both the concentration of PS‐PVP and the solvent quality. The pyridine of PVP blocks form complexes with the Zn atoms via the nitrogen lone pair and thus the sulfur vacancies are passivated. As a result, the defect‐related blue emission is selectively quenched even when the micelles are not formed. As the concentration of PS‐PVP encapsulating the ZnS:Mn NCs increases, the intensity of blue emission decreases. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ab initio and vibrational self-consistent field (VSCF) computations are used to investigate the vibrational normal coordinates of the protonated Schiff base (PSB) 4-cis-gamma,eta-dimethyl-C9H9 NH2+. The ground and the first excited states are investigated. Both harmonic and anharmonic frequencies for the first three overtones of the ground and first excited states are reported. Special attention is payed to the discussion of the normal coordinates modes that involve the central C=C bond which plays a significant role in the isomerization process.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] Glycosyl phosphates can be readily accessed on a solid support via a three-step procedure from support-bound glycals. These resin-bound glycosyl phosphates were successfully used as glycosylating agents for coupling with a series of nucleophiles. The stereochemical outcome of disaccharide formation was dependent on the nature of the linker connecting the saccharide to the polymer. Interestingly, other glycosyl donors such as thioglycosides and trichloroacetimidates did not exhibit such a dependence, indicating a different reaction mechanism for glycosylation.  相似文献

Electronic structure spin-polarized calculations were performed for 79-atoms embedded clusters representing the ordered intermetallic compound FeNi, the fcc Fe-rich disordered alloy Fe85Ni15 in an antiferromagnetic (AFM) configuration, and the ferromagnetic (FM) disordered alloy Fe50Ni50. The spin-polarized discrete variational method (DVM) in Density Functional theory was employed. Spin magnetic moments, as well as the 57Fe Mössbauer hyperfine parameters isomer shift and magnetic hyperfine fields, were obtained from the calculations. For FM Fe50Ni50, the effect of pressure on the hyperfine field and on the isomer shift was investigated, for three different local atomic configurations surrounding the 57Fe probe atom. In the case of the isomer shift, the calculated values were compared to reported experimental data.  相似文献

Combinatorial library screening offers a rapid process for identifying potential therapies to toxins. Hinge peptide libraries, which rely on conformational diversity rather than traditional molecular diversity, reduce the need for huge numbers of syntheses and screening steps and greatly expedite the discovery process of active molecules. Hinge peptide libraries having the structures: Acetyl-X1–X2–hinge–X3–X4–NH2 (capped) and X1–hinge–X2–X3 (uncapped), where X1 through X4 are near-equimolar mixtures of twelve L-amino acids and hinge = 4-aminobutyric acid, were screened for inhibitory activity in bioassays for botulinum neurotoxins A and B (BoNT/A, BoNT/B) and saxitoxin. The zinc protease activity of the reduced light chains of BoNT/A and /B was assayed by measuring the cleavage of synthetic substrates. Saxitoxin activity was measured by the restoration of the viability of neuroblastoma cells treated with ouabain and veratridine. Deconvolution of libraries was accomplished by fixing one position at a time beginning with the C-terminus. Primary library subsets in which position 4 was fixed showed moderate levels of inhibition for BoNT/A. Secondary library subsets showed stronger inhibition in the bioassays. In each of the bioassays, inhibitory potency was stronger when the second position to be fixed was on the opposite side of the hinge, rather than on the same side with respect to the C-terminus, suggesting that the hinge facilitates the interaction of side chains. Inhibitors for all three of the toxins studied were discovered within library subsets, although not necessarily in primary subsets. These studies demonstrate that (1) the best strategy for deconvoluting hinge peptide libraries is by fixing residues alternately on each side of the hinge moiety, and (2) it is essential to investigate secondary subsets even when primary subsets are inactive. The present findings support the concept that the increased flexibility imposed by the inclusion of a central hinge residue in small peptides increases the opportunity for side chain interactions, providing a distinct advantage for hinge peptide libraries over conventional peptide libraries. Hinge peptide libraries are a rich source of novel ligands for modulation of biomechanisms. The library subsets uncovered in this study may possess peptides that will lead to effective therapies to neurotoxin poisoning.  相似文献
