The magnetic moments in Ni/Pt multilayers are thoroughly studied by combining experimental and ab initio theoretical techniques. SQUID magnetometry probes the samples' magnetizations. X-ray magnetic circular dichroism separates the contribution of Ni and Pt and provides a layer-resolved magnetic moment profile for the whole system. The results are compared to band-structure calculations. Induced Pt magnetic moments localized mostly at the interface are revealed. No magnetically "dead" Ni layers are found. The magnetization per Ni volume is slightly enhanced compared to bulk NiPt alloys. 相似文献

JRC-Karlsruhe obtained a swipe sample from a highly enriched uranium seizure, which had taken place in 2011. Due to the very low amount of uranium (nanograms) a new method needed to be developed to determine the U production date (age). The particles on the swipe were collected on a pyrolytic graphite planchet using a vacuum impactor and they were subsequently leached with ccHNO3. The “bulk” U isotopic composition (235U: 72.51?±?0.03 wt%) and the production date (December 1992?±?1 year) determined by MC-ICP-MS indicated that the material showed similarity with two other HEU cases seized earlier in Europe.

Detailed theoretical and experimental investigations of the electronic and magnetic properties of the RCo5?xMx compounds (R=Y, Pr and M=Si, Al) have been performed. All theoretical investigations of the electronic and magnetic properties of the system have been done using the Korringa–Kohn–Rostoker (KKR) band structure method. The Si for Co substitution in RCo5 does not change the magnetic ordering: the RCo5?xSix with R=Y, Nd and Pr is ferromagnetic, whilst the heavy rare-earth containing compounds are ferrimagnetic. The important modifications induced by this substitution concerns the magnetic properties of the system: the Curie temperature and the magnetic moments of Co decrease with Si content, indicating the weakening of the Co–Co exchange interaction. The band structure calculations evidence the hybridization between the 3d electronic states of Co and the 3p states of Si as possible reason for the diminishing of Co–Co exchange interaction. Also, the volume effect on the magnetic properties of the YCo4Si was investigated using theoretical methods. The results are compared with the experimental measurements in order to distinguish the origin of magnetization reduction in YCo4Si compared with YCo4Al. 相似文献

The existence of flat areas of a Fermi surface (FS), predicted by electronic structure calculations and used in models of both magnetically mediated and phonon-mediated Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov superconducting states, is reported in the paramagnetic phase of the ferromagnetic superconductor ZrZn2 using positron annihilation. The strongly mass-renormalized FS sheet, dominating the Fermi level density of states, is seen for the first time. The delocalization of the magnetization is studied using measured and calculated magnetic Compton profiles. 相似文献
