Critical micelle concentrations were determined by conductance measurements for decyl-, dodecyl-, tetradecyl- and hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide in water at 25, 60, 95, 130, and 160°C. The results are discussed in terms of the equilibrium model and the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann model for micelle formation. The free energies of transferring a methylene group from water to the oil-like interior of the micelle are found to be –781 at 25°C, –796 at 60°C, –819 at 95°C, –815 at 130°C, and –787 at 160°C cal-mol–1.  相似文献

Summary Many studies have shown that water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) roots can be used to accumulate high concentrations of organic as well as inorganic pollutants. They are currently used to remediate aquatic environments and aqueous solutions. In the present study, sorption of uranium from aqueous solutions by using dried roots of water hyacinth has been investigated. The sorption of uranium was examined as a function of initial concentration, pH, weight of roots and contact time. Five different concentrations 20, 40, 60, 80, and 100 μg . ml-1 were used. Sorption proves to be very rapid and depend on pH, weight of roots and concentration of uranium. Maximum sorption capacity of water hyacinth roots was 64,000 U6+ μg/g. The sorption of uranium by water hyacinth roots follows a Langmuir isotherm.  相似文献

The effect of anion concentration and the dependence of uranyl ascorbate on the nature of anion present is systematically studied for nine different anions over the concentration range (0.2–2.0) × 10−2 M. These anions, commonly encountered in pharmaceutical preparations with ascorbic acid (vitamin C) are nitrate, sulfate, chloride, bromide, fluoride, phosphate, citrate, oxalate, and tartrate. Based on the absorbance data, and on the value of the replacement constant K calculated, the studied anions may be arranged according to their complexing power on uranium as follows: citrate > tartrate > phosphate > oxalate > fluoride > sulfate > nitrate > chloride > bromide.This order is substantiated by the calculated values of the side reaction coefficients αM of the uranyl ligand complex or the conditional stability constant of uranyl-ascorbate calculated at different ligand concentrations.  相似文献

One of the major challenges in material design is the achievement of reasonable operational efficiency through understanding the factors affecting the material’s performance particularly strength and service lifetime characteristics. In this work, the electrochemical behavior of 72Cu–28Zn α-brass alloy in Na2MoO4-containing electrolytes was investigated using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical frequency modulation techniques complemented with scanning electron microscopy. Also, stress corrosion cracking behavior of the alloy under both open-circuit potential and anodic applied potentials, using the slow strain rate technique, was evaluated. The results drawn from the different techniques are comparable.  相似文献

The spectral distributions of the visible absorption and fluorescence emission under electron beam excitation of Eu3+-doped (Y2O3) and (YVO4) powders have been detected and analyzed. (Y2O3: Eu3+) has a cubicC crystal structure with a unit cell dimension a=10·61 Å. Its observed transitions from7 F 0 to many upper states have been recognized; the observed number of Stark components is in agreement with that based on theC 2 site symmetry of the Eu3+ ion in Y2O3. Eu3+-doped yttrium vanadate has a typical zircon tetragonal crystal structure with unit cell dimensions ofc=6·29 Å anda=7·11 Å. The observed transitions in (Eu3+: YVO4) have been identified and assigned in accordance with theD 2d site symmetry of the Eu3+ ion in this lattice.The authors would like to express their deep gratitude to Professor G. The effects of surface tension and adsorption on the electrohydrodynamic Kelvin-Helmholtz instability are studied. The system is stressed by a normal electric field such that it allows for the presence of surface charges at the interface. The method used is that of multiple scales. The nonlinear Schrödinger equation describing the behavior of the disturbed system is derived. The stability of the perturbed system is discussed both analytically and numerically and the stability diagrams are obtained. At the critical point, a generalized formulation of the evolution equation is developed, which leads to the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation. The various stability criteria are derived from this equation.  相似文献

Generic axiomatic-nonextensive statistics introduces two asymptotic properties,to each of which a scaling function is assigned.The first and second scaling properties are characterized by the exponents c and d,respectively.In the thermodynamic limit,a grand-canonical ensemble can be formulated.The thermodynamic properties of a relativistic ideal gas of hadron resonances are studied,analytically.It is found that this generic statistics satisfies the requirements of the equilibrium thermodynamics.Essential aspects of the thermodynamic self-consistency are clarified.Analytical expressions are proposed for the statistical fits of various transverse momentum distributions measured in most-central collisions at different collision energies and colliding systems.Estimations for the freezeout temperature(T_(ch)) and the baryon chemical potential(μ_b) and the exponents c and d are determined.The earlier are found compatible with the parameters deduced from Boltzmann-Gibbs(BG) statistics(extensive),while the latter refer to generic nonextensivities.The resulting equivalence class(c,d) is associated with stretched exponentials,where Lambert function reaches its asymptotic stability.In some measurements,the resulting nonextensive entropy is linearly composed on extensive entropies.Apart from power-scaling,the particle ratios and yields are excellent quantities to highlighting whether the particle production takes place(non)extensively.Various particle ratios and yields measured by the STAR experiment in central collisions at 200,62.4 and 7.7 GeV are fitted with this novel approach.We found that both c and d 1,i.e.referring to neither BG-nor Tsallis-type statistics,but to(c,d)-entropy,where Lambert functions exponentially rise.The freezeout temperature and baryon chemical potential are found comparable with the ones deduced from BG statistics(extensive).We conclude that the particle production at STAR energies is likely a nonextensive process but not necessarily BG or Tsallis type.  相似文献

The superiority of silver‐doped titania for photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) of organic compounds inspired us to investigate PCO of 1,2‐cyclohexanediol. Ag/TiO2 was prepared, characterized (nanosize 19–24 nm) and used for oxidation of 1,2‐cyclohexanediol (1) in acetonitrile. The photolysate was analyzed using GC and GC/MS techniques. The PCO products are 2‐hydroxylcyclohexanone (2), 1,2‐cyclohexandione (3), 2‐cyclohexenone(4), cyclohexanone (5), and adipic acid (6).The formation of electron–hole pair at the surface of the catalyst followed by oxidation reactions was the suggested mechanism. Zn x Cd1–x S thin films (0x0.20) were prepared using rf sputtering in argon atmosphere and characterized using X-ray diffraction, optical transmission, electrical resistivity and photoconductive decay measurements. The films were found to possess hexagonal structure. The crystallite size and degree of preferential orientation were found to decrease with the increase ofx and to improve upon annealing in vacuum at 250 °C. The transmission edge shifted towards shorter wavelengths with the increase ofx in agreement with the expected shift in the energy band gap. The films were found to exhibit room temperature resistivity in the range 100–1000 cm. The obtained values of long wavelength transmission (70–80%) and minority carrier diffusion length (30 m) are high enough for the application of these films in the field of solar cells.  相似文献

Abstract

A simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of buclizine hydrochloride in bulk and tablets form. The method is based on the formation of charge-transfer complex between buclizine, as n-donor, and iodine, as Δ acceptor, which measured spectrophotometrically at 295 and 355 nm. A Job's plot indicated a 1:1 complex between the drug and iodine and Beer's law was obeyed in a concentration range of 4–30 μg ml?1. A more detailed investigation of the complex was made with respect to its association constant and the free energy change. The method is simple and sensitive and has been applied successfully to the analysis of laboratory-made tablets without any interference from the tablet excipients. To validate the method, the results obtained were compared statistically with a newly developed uv-derivative spectrophotometric method. The charge-transfer method was favored due to its higher sensitivity, cheap coast and available equipments.  相似文献
