The intermediate principal stress has certain effects on the yield strength of metallic materials under complex stress states. The flat-ended punch problem is a classical and fundamental problem in plasticity theory and mechanical engineering in which the metal beneath a flat-ended punch is under complex stress states. Using the finite difference codes, fast Lagrangian analysis of continua and Unified Strength Theory, the effect of the intermediate principal stress on the flat-ended punch problem is analyzed in this paper. First, the limit pressures of strip and circular punches pressed into an elastoplastic and homogeneous metallic medium are calculated by the two-dimensional finite difference method. The problems of square and rectangular punches are analyzed by the three-dimensional finite difference method. Finally, the effect of the intermediate principal stress on flat-ended punch problems with different punch geometries is analyzed.  相似文献

A numerical investigation of the limit loads is carried out for pressurevessels with part-through slots using a general computational method for the limitanalysis of 3-D structures.The limit pressures are given for a comprehensive range ofgeometric parameters.Some of the calculated results are compared with the results of3-D elastic-plastic finite element analysis and existing numerical solutions.The effectsof various shapes and sizes of part-through slots on the load carrying capacity ofcylindrical shells are investigated and evaluated.Two kinds of typical failure modescorresponding to different dimensions of slots are studied.Based on the numericalresults,a geometric parameter G which combines the slot dimensions and the cylindergeometry is presented.It reasonably reflects the overall effect of slots on the limit loadsof cylinders.An empirical formula for estimating the limit pressures of cylindricalshells with part-through slots is obtained.  相似文献

The main objective of the following presentation is to examine the possibility of predicting agricultural tire footprint parameters under different operational conditions. The experimental part of the research involved the operation of two agricultural transport tires on two soils, under variations of tire load, inflation pressures and soil moisture contents. Results obtained show that tire footprint parameters, such as contact area, length, width and sinkage, can be reliably predicted using multifactorial linear and total regressions, within the range of recommended tire loads, inflation pressures and soil moisture contents around the plastic limit.  相似文献

This paper presents an elastoplastic homogenization method applied to a soil reinforced by regularly distributed columns. According to this method, the composite reinforced soil is regarded, from a macroscopic point of view, as a homogeneous anisotropic continuous medium, the elastic as well as plastic properties of which can be obtained from the solution to an auxiliary problem attached to the reinforced soil representative cell. Based upon an approximate solution to this problem, in which piecewise constant stress fields are used, the homogenized behavior of the reinforced soil subject to vertical oedometric conditions is investigated. A first application to the evaluation of the settlement of a reinforced soil foundation is then presented, taking into account the initial stress field generated by the reinforced soil own weight. A particular emphasis is put on the situation of a purely cohesive soft clay reinforced by purely frictional inclusions (“stone column” reinforcement technique), for which a simplified calculation procedure, in which the soil remains elastic, is proposed, leading to an analytical closed-form expression for the load–settlement curve.  相似文献
