Properties of index-guided PCF with air-core 总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
In the paper, index-guided triangular PCF with air-core is introduced which guides light by total internal reflection (TIR) when the air-core is smaller than the air holes in cladding. Properties of dispersion and leakage loss are investigated using finite-element method. The total dispersion curve gets more flattened and leakage loss increases significantly as the air-core diameter increases. High birefringence PCF with elliptical air-core is put forward and the birefringence increases with the ellipticity of the air-core. 相似文献

An extruded elliptical hole photonic crystal fibers PCF with square air-core is proposed. By using a full vector finite-element method FV-FEM and anisotropic perfectly matched layers APML, the structure and optical properties of the proposed PCF are analyzed. Simulation results show that the birefringence of the proposed photonic crystal fiber can be up to the order of 10−2, and has a flattened dispersion from 1.20 μm to 1.80 μm. The proposed PCF may have important application in super-continuum SC generation, dispersion compensation, fiber-optic sensing systems and other aspects. 相似文献

Aiming at the requirement of low confinement loss and multiple zero dispersion points in fiber-optic sensing systems and optical communication networks, a new type of photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with rhombus air-core is proposed. By using finite element method (FEM), the structural and optical properties of the proposed PCF are analyzed. Simulation results reveal that the proposed PCF has lower confinement loss with 10?3 dB/m and higher birefringence. Besides, two zero dispersion points can be obtained after optimization. The proposed PCF may have important applications in fiber-optic sensing systems and other aspects. 相似文献

为了解决传统光纤传感在传感不同物理参量时需要多个传感器的问题,并拓展光纤在同时传感多参量方面的应用,结合光子晶体光纤(PCF)中基模与高阶模光的不同传感特性以及气体吸收传感原理,在PCF传感温度、应力双参量的实验基础上,应用理论分析的手段探讨了同时传感温度、应力和气体浓度3种参量的方法。给出了3种参量的计算式并进行了数值模拟,最后设计了一套相对简单、性价比高的传感解调系统。理论分析和数值模拟表明:温度在0℃以上时可以获得高于0.98 pm/℃的温度灵敏度;基模光应力灵敏度为1.2 pm/,高阶模光可获得高于0.83 pm/的应力灵敏度;长度较短的光子晶体光纤能够测量较高的气体浓度。本方案使用2个写入光纤布拉格光栅(FBG)的PCF作为传感器同时传感温度、应力和气体浓度3种参量,能够有效降低传感成本,拓宽气体、液体传感研究的思路。 相似文献

Since the early conceptual and practical demonstrations in the late 1990s, photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) have attracted considerable interest by virtue of their promise to deliver a unique range of optical properties that are simply not possible in standard fiber types. Hollow-core photonic band gap fiber has the potential to overcome some of the fundamental limitations of solid fiber as they also provide a unique medium for a range of light. PCF also be used as a unique optical material to make sensors due to the air-holes that can be filled with different materials (liquid, gas or even solid) to alter the difference of refractive index (RI) in the two modes, has been used in various sensing search fields. The application of PCF on physical quantities is discussed, and the recent results on temperature, magnetic, strain and vibration are reviewed. These developments demonstrate that the enlarged complexity and decreased accuracy of sensors offered by PCF make it useful in a wide range of engineering monitoring applications. 相似文献

针对光纤通信和传感系统中高双折射、多零色散点的应用需求, 设计了一种新型结构的光子晶体光纤.该结构包层为圆形空气孔按照八边形形状排列而成, 并在内包层对称位置中加入两个椭圆空气孔以获得高双折射特性. 通过有限元数值分析方法对光纤特性进行分析,仿真结果表明,该结构光子晶体光纤在波长0.8—2 μm 范围内双折射可达10-3量级,满足高双折射的应用需求,并且满足两个零色散点的应用需求. 同时光纤的非线性系数达10-2·m-1·W-1量级,可应用于对非线性要求较高的场合. 相似文献

The optical control ability of photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is a distinctive property suitable for improving sensing and plasma performance. This article proposes a dual-core D-channel PCF sensor that can detect two samples simultaneously, which effectively solves the problems of coating difficulty and low wavelength sensitivity. The PCF has four layers of air holes, which dramatically reduces the optical fiber loss and is more conducive to the application of sensors in actual production. In addition, by introducing dual cores on the upper and lower sides of the central air hole, reducing the spacing between the core and the gold nanolayer, a stronger evanescent field can be generated in the cladding air hole. The optical fiber sensor can detect the refractive index of two samples simultaneously with a maximum sensitivity of 21300 nm/RIU. To the best of our knowledge, the sensitivity achieved in this work is the highest sensitivity with the dual sample synchronous detection sensors. The detection range of the refraction index is 1.35-1.41, and the resolution of the sensor is 4.695×10-6. Overall, the sensor will be suitable for medical detection, organic chemical sensing, analyte detection, and other fields. 相似文献

An alternative all-fiber sensor for simultaneous strain and temperature measurement based on a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) spliced between single-mode fibers cascaded with a long period grating (LPG) is proposed. By collapsing the air holes at two splicing regions along the PCF, a simple but effective modal-interference (MI) is occurred between the core and cladding modes of the PCF. Due to the different responses on the changes of strain and temperature on the MI and the cascaded LPG, the strain and temperature can be measured simultaneously. Experimental results show that the sensing resolution of 9.1 με in strain measurement is experimentally achieved over a range of 2640 με, while the temperature sensing resolution is 0.27 °C within a range of 30-100 °C. 相似文献

A novel class of wavelength-selective coupling photonic crystal fiber (PCF) that operates by a hybrid light-guiding mechanism has been proposed. Different from the traditional PCF coupler operating principle, this fiber coupler shares properties of both the total internal reflection index-guided and the photonic bandgap mechanism. This coupler allows highly accurate control of the filtering wavelength; both bandstop and bandpass filters can be easily implemented. The spectral transmission results demonstrate that the bandpass characteristic of the coupler is very narrow and free of sidelobes. Moreover, the operating wavelength and the coupling length can be continuously tuned by changing the refractive index of the filling material. This research gives a physical insight into the propagation mechanism in the PCF coupler and is crucial for future applications of the proposed device. 相似文献

强激光与气体的长距离相互作用能产生许多新奇的物理效应,而自由空间光束的自聚焦、衍射、散射等问题限制了该科技领域的发展。本文提出了一种新型多孔芯光子晶体光纤,纤芯亚波长、低折射率空气孔可以传光,具有宽带、低损耗、单模传输特性。利用倏逝波耦合效应,研究了纤芯亚波长空气孔束缚光的原理。根据光波传输的电磁场理论,分析了低折射率空气孔中的光强增大效应。强光在空气孔中长距离传输,为光与物质的相互作用提供了新条件,可以用于气体传感、非线性光学、高集成光子技术、原子操控等。由于纤芯空气孔可以传光,改变空气孔的大小,直接影响模场分布,进而可以获得很高的结构双折射。通过光纤结构参数的合理设计,分别获得了B=4×10-2的高双折射、纤芯直径5 μm的大模场高双折射、大模面积单偏振单模特性,在光纤偏振器、光纤滤波器、光开关及光纤传感等领域有广泛的应用前景,为新型光场调控提供了新方法。 相似文献

The zero dispersion point of an index-guided photonic crystal fiber with triangular lattice of air holes has been shifted to 0.65 μm by varying the diameter of air hole of different rings. Using FDTD method, we have estimated group velocity dispersion, effective refractive index, the fiber parameter, and the mode field of the fundamental mode. It has been realized that the value of zero dispersion point is mainly decided by the air holes of the first ring. 设计并研制出一种与普通单模光纤高适配的低弯曲损耗光子晶体光纤. 结构采用光纤预制棒制作工艺上易于实现的掺锗芯六孔结构. 应用间接测量方法, 对其模式、弯曲及色散特性进行了系统的评估. 在波长1550 nm处研制光纤的模场面积为79.26 μm2, 色散为21.7 ps·km-1·nm-1, 模场面积和色散特性与标准单模光纤具有高的适配性. 在光纤弯曲半径为5 mm时, 在波长1550 nm处的弯曲损耗为0.0365 dB/圈, 小于G.657B的弯曲损耗0.5 dB/圈. 研究成果为光纤到户用低弯曲损耗光纤的实用化奠定了良好的基础.

Design and analysis of thermally tunable liquid crystal filled hybrid photonic crystal fiber coupler
We propose a novel tunable photonic crystal fiber (PCF) coupler scheme, that the light is coupled between a total internal reflection (TIR) guiding core and a photonic bandgap (PBG) guiding core. By introducing the thermo-optic responsive nematic liquid crystals (NLC) into the air holes around the PBG core, the hybrid PCF based coupler exhibits enhanced thermal tunability. The thermo-optical characteristics of the proposed coupler are numerically studied using finite element method (FEM) and beam propagation method (BPM). The photonic band structure, mode field distribution, and leakage loss of different photonic crystal fibers are studied by the full vectorial plane wave expansion method and an extended beam propagation method. A comparison on the waveguiding mechanism is conducted among solid-core triangular-lattice PCF, air-core honeycomb PCF, and solid-core honeycomb PCF. For the latter two structures, which conduct light by the photonic bandgap effect, the advantages of down-doped solid-core honeycomb structure are demonstrated for its Gaussian-like mode field distribution and low leakage loss. A combined study on the leakage loss and band structure of solid-core honeycomb PCF has revealed the distinctive properties of photonic bandgap effect. 相似文献

In this paper, we present a dispersion controlling technique with a multiple defect-core hexagonal photonic crystal fiber
(MD-HPCF). By omitting air holes in the core region of the conventional HPCF and adjusting the size of air holes around the
newly formed core, we can successfully design low flattened dispersion PCF with low confinement loss, as well as high birefringence.
