A general QCD sum rule calculation of vacuum expectation values of Wilson loops is presented and particularized to several specific planar and non-planar contours. The string tension obtained is √σ = 0.50(5) GeV. Within the errors of the approach, this result is shape-independent. We comment on the possibility that corrections to the area and perimeter laws could be parametrized by a geodesic curvature term.  相似文献

A large number of one-loop integrals emerging in a gauge perturbation theory on a lattice with Wilson fermions at r = 1 are evaluated with the use of the Burgio-Caracciolo-Pelissetto algorithm and the FORMpackage. We studied the condensate mass of QCD vacuum through the duality approach via dilaton wall back-ground in the presence of the parameter c,which represents the condensation in a holographic set up.First,fromWilson line calculation,we found m02(i.e.,the condensate parameter in mixed non-local condensation),whose beha-vior mimics that of QCD.The value of m02that we found by this approach is in agreement with QCD data.Second we considered the produced mass m via the Schwinger effect mechanism in the presence of the parameter c.We show that vacuum condensation generally contributes the mass dominantly and that the produced mass via Schwing.er effect is suppressed by m0.  相似文献

We investigate angular and energy distributions of medium-induced gluon emission off a quark-antiquark antenna in the framework of perturbative QCD as an attempt toward understanding, from first principles, jet evolution inside the quark-gluon plasma. In-medium color coherence between emitters, neglected in all previous calculations, leads to a novel mechanism of soft-gluon radiation. The structure of the corresponding spectrum, in contrast with known medium-induced radiation, i.e., off a single emitter, retains some properties of the vacuum case; in particular, it exhibits a soft divergence. However, as opposed to the vacuum, the collinear singularity is regulated by the pair opening angle, leading to a strict angular separation between vacuum and medium-induced radiation, denoted as antiangular ordering. We comment on the possible consequences of this new contribution for jet observables in heavy-ion collisions.  相似文献

We present a general setup for inflation in string theory where the inflaton field corresponds to Wilson lines in compact space in the presence of magnetic fluxes. T-dualities and limits on the value of the magnetic fluxes relate this system to the standard D-brane inflation scenarios, such as brane-antibrane inflation, D3/D7 brane inflation and different configurations of branes at angles. This can then be seen as a generalised approach to inflation from open string modes. Inflation ends when the Wilson lines achieve a critical value and an open string mode becomes tachyonic. Then hybrid-like inflation, including its cosmic string remnants, is realized in string theory beyond the brane annihilation picture. Our formalism can be incorporated within flux-induced moduli stabilisation mechanisms in type IIB strings. Also, contrary to the standard D-brane separation, Wilson lines can be considered in heterotic string models. We provide explicit examples to illustrate similarities and differences of our mechanism to D-brane inflation. In particular we present an example in which the η problem present in brane inflation models is absent in our case. We have examples with both blue and red tilted spectral index and remnant cosmic string tension .  相似文献

We address a long standing problem regarding topology in lattice simulations of QCD with unimproved Wilson fermions. Earlier attempt with unimproved Wilson fermions at β=5.6 to verify the suppression of topological susceptibility with decreasing quark mass (mq) was unable to unambiguously confirm the suppression. We carry out systematic calculations for two degenerate flavours at two different lattice spacings (β=5.6 and 5.8). The effects of quark mass, lattice volume and the lattice spacing on the spanning of different topological sectors are presented. We unambiguously demonstrate the suppression of the topological susceptibility with decreasing quark mass, expected from chiral Ward identity and chiral perturbation theory.  相似文献

We consider elastic quark-quark scattering at high energy and fixed transferred momentum. Performing factorization of soft-gluon exchanges into the Wilson-line expectation value we find that there is one-to-one correspondence between high-energy asymptotics in QCD and renormalization properties of the so-called cross singularities of the Wilson lines. Using this relation we show that the asymptotic behavior of the quark-quark scattering amplitude is controlled by a 2 × 2 matrix of the cross anomalous dimensions. We evaluate the matrix of the cross anomalous dimension to two-loop order and study the properties of the obtained expressions to higher loop order.  相似文献

We have constructed the bag model having a central constant color field. The motion of the quark is studied in this bag and the Dirac equation is solved for it. The energy spectrum found has a branching due to the interaction of the quarks with the color background. It is pointed out that this model can be applied for taking into account, in the mass spectrum of the hadrons, the coupling of the constituent quarks with the gluon condensation as the interaction with the color background.Received: 7 December 2003, Revised: 18 January 2004, Published online: 3 March 2004Sh.
