Bunching, acceleration, and transverse focusing of intense ion beams in an undulator linac are considered. Such an accelerator features the absence of an rf field harmonic synchronous with the beam. A 3D equation of motion in the Hamiltonian form is derived in the smooth approximation, and the general conditions for ion beam acceleration and transverse focusing in the undulator linac are formulated. Basic analytical results are compared with the results of numerical simulation of the beam dynamics in the polyharmonic field of an accelerating cavity.  相似文献

Superconducting cavities have been adopted in many kinds of accelerator facilities such as synchrotron radiation light source, hard X-ray free electron laser linac, colliders and energy recovery linacs (ERL). The 500 MHz superconducting cavities will be a candidate to be installed in the high current accelerators and high current ERLs for their large beam aperture, low higher order modes impedance and high current threshold value. This paper presents great progress in the whole sequence of developing 500 MHz superconducting cavity in China. It describes the first in-house successful development of 500 MHz single cell superconducting cavity including the deep-drawing of niobium half cells, electron beam wielding of cavity, surface preparations and vertical testing. The highest accelerating gradient of the fabricated cavity #SCD-02 higher than 10 MV/m was obtained while the quality factor was better than 4×108 at 4.2 K, which has reached the world level of the same kind of cavities.  相似文献

The China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)drift tube linac(DTL)consists of four tanks and each tank is fed by a 2.5 MW klystron.Accurate predication of RF coupling between the RF cavity and ports is very important for DTL RF coupler design.An iris-type coupler is chosen to couple the RF power to the DTL accelerating cavity.The physical design of the DTL coupler and the calculations of RF coupling between the cavity and coupler are carried out.The results from the numerical simulations are in excellent agreement with the analytical results.  相似文献

加速管是一台加速器的核心部分. 一般电子辐照加速器的俘获效率在50%左右, 一半的电子都损失在加速管内. 丢失的电子打在加速管内壁, 产生轫致辐射、腔体发热量增加、真空变坏等许多负面影响. 采用一段等梯度加速结构, 相速沿加速管呈线形增加,调整相速变化规律及加速管腔体的尺寸参数, 设计出的加速管最终的俘获效率提高到90%以上, 同时平均加速梯度没有因此降低, 加速管总长度没有增加.  相似文献

中国科学院高能物理研究所一直在研究频率为325 MHz、中低β Spoke超导加速腔,以应用在加速器驱动的次临界系统(ADS)的强流质子直线加速器中。通过对超导腔设计方法和设计原则的研究,使用CST仿真软件设计了单Spoke腔、双Spoke腔、三bar Spoke腔三种Spoke腔型。其中三bar Spoke腔和双Spoke腔一样,都有着三个加速间隙,但是Spoke柱的结构不同。在腔型设计中,对三种Spoke腔的模型均作了参数化处理。然后通过CST的参数化扫描来优化腔体形状以使得峰值电场与加速梯度的比值最小,同时使峰值磁场与加速梯度的比值处于较低范围。本文对三种腔型进行了高频结构优化和参数分析,选用了双Spoke腔型作为设计方案,并对电磁场等进行了优化设计。  相似文献

随着波导式耦合行波加速管设计梯度的日益提高,为了防止加速管输入耦合器电场的横向动量在束流通过加速器耦合器时引起束流品质的下降,侧壁开有两个对称耦合孔的对称双馈圆柱腔获得了广泛的应用。研制的S波段J型波导馈电加速管即为双馈圆柱腔中的一种,研制样管在老练平台上老练时的最高加速梯度达到30 MV/m。然而因为四极场的存在,开有两个耦合孔的圆柱耦合腔内,仍然会引起轴向电场的幅度和相位在横向的梯度,从而使束流发射度变差。在理论上对J型波导馈电的跑道式耦合腔进行了研究,通过与圆柱腔进行比对模拟计算,证明跑道式耦合器可以很好地改善轴向电场在横向平面内非近轴区域沿圆周的场强一致性,从而减小四极场的影响。重要的是,J型波导馈电跑道式耦合腔的机械加工、测试比圆柱腔更加容易实现,是未来双馈加速器发展的一个理想方向。  相似文献

The Advanced Photon Source (APS) at Argonne National Laboratory is considering the development of a superconducting linac-based fourth-generation hard X-ray source to meet future scientific needs of the hard X-ray user community. This work specifically focuses on the design of an optimized 5-cell superconducting radio-frequency structure well suited for a high-energy, high-beam-current energy recovery linac. The cavity design parameters are based on the APS storage ring nominal 7 GeV and 100 mA beam operation. A high-current 5-cell cw superconducting cavity operating at 1.4 GHz has been designed. In order to achieve a high current, the accelerating cavity shape has been optimized and large end-cell beam pipes have been adopted. The beam break-up threshold of the cavity has been estimated using the code TDBBU, which predicts a high threshold beam current for a 7 GeV energy recovery linac model. A copper prototype cavity has been fabricated that uses half-cell modules, initially assembled by clamping the cells together.  相似文献

The RF coupler is a key component for an accelerating structure which is the most important component for a linac. In order to feed microwave power into the accelerating cavities effectively, the coupler has to be well matched with the feeding waveguide. In this paper, an electron linac coupler was designed, constructed and tested. A numerical simulation method based on the Kyhl's method was employed to search for the optimal dimensions of the coupler. The frequency and the coupling coefficient as a function of the coupler dimensions were also calculated. The results fitted the Kyhl's method simulation results well and gave tolerances of the coupler. The coupler was brazed to the accelerating cavities and it was cold-tested and hot-tested. The experimental results were consistent with the numerical simulation results.  相似文献

模拟研究了1.6个腔、高梯度的W-band光阴极微波电子枪系统,该系统能产生和加速300pC的电子束团.设计系统由频率91.392GHz光阴极微波电子枪以及频率91.392GHz行波加速结构组成.基于射频直线加速器标度律与数值模拟结果,设计系统能产生能量1.74MeV,电量300pC,束团长度0.72ps,归一化横向发射度0.55mm·mrad的电子束团.研究了高频、高梯度下的束流动力学.由于高梯度,有质动力效应在束流动力学中起重要作用,且由于横向与纵向之间的耦合,在基次空间谐波的情形下,仍然存在着有质动力聚焦效应.  相似文献

Since the tapered quarter wave resonator (QWR) cavity is proven to have a much lower peak surface magnetic field in the short plate and a lower peak surface electric field near the beam tube compared with the straight outer conductor QWR, it has been recommended for the separated sector cyclotron linac injector system in the heavy ion research facility in Lanzhou. This paper is focused on the multipacting (MP) analysis for the tapered QWR with a frequency of 80.5 MHz and beta of 0.085. Using the Analyst program, MP bands can be simulated and analyzed with the Particle Tracking module to identify potential problems in the cavity design. This paper will present the simulation results of MP for the tapered QWR cavity.  相似文献

We present the physics design of a 10 MeV, 6 kW S-band (2856 MHz) electron linear accelerator (linac), which has been recently built and successfully operated at Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore. The accelerating structure is a 2π/3 mode constant impedance travelling wave structure, which comprises travelling wave buncher cells, followed by regular accelerating cells. The structure is designed to accelerate 50 keV electron beam from the electron gun to 10 MeV. This paper describes the details of electromagnetic design simulations to fix the mechanical dimensions and tolerances, as well as heat loss calculations in the structure. Results of design simulations have been compared with those obtained using approximate analytical formulae. The beam dynamics simulation with space charge is performed and the required magnetic field profile for keeping the beam focussed in the linac has been evaluated and discussed. An important feature of a travelling wave linac (in contrast with standing wave linac) is that it accepts the RF power over a band of frequencies. Three-dimensional transient simulations of the accelerating structure along with the input and output couplers have been performed using the software CST-MWS to explicitly demonstrate this feature.  相似文献

近年来,对紧凑、稳定及可靠型电子直线加速器的需求越来越多,其能量主要分布在几百keV到十几个MeV的范围内,其中需求最多的则是能量在MeV量级的微波电子直线加速器。在这种形势下,中国科学院高能物理研究所正在研制一台S波段6 MeV的边耦合电子直线加速器,本文对基于该加速器的模拟计算研究进行了介绍。EGUN和HFSS分别用来设计电子枪和边耦合加速结构。通过将EGUN计算得到的电子束流参数和HFSS计算得到的三维电磁场分布数据引入到PARMELA中,完成了对该加速器的多粒子动力学研究。模拟结果显示,所设计的加速器完全能够满足设计指标的要求。最终,在考虑束流负载效应的因素后,完成了边耦合加速结构的微波结构设计。  相似文献

A resonant buildup of beam-induced fields in a superconducting radio frequency(RF)cavity may make a beam unstable or a superconducting RF cavity quench. Higher-order mode(HOM)couplers are used for damping higher-order modes to avoid such a resonant buildup. A coaxial HOM coupler based on the TTF (TESLA Test Facility)HOM coupler has been designed for the superconducting RF cavities at the Proton Engineering Frontier Project(PEFP)in order to overcome notch frequency shift and feed-through tip melting issues. In order to confirm the HOM coupler design and finalize its structural dimensions, two prototype HOM couplers have been fabricated and tested. Low-power testing and measurement of the HOM couplers has shown that the HOM coupler has good filter properties and can fully meet the damping requirements of the PEFP low-beta superconducting RF linac.  相似文献

We investigate the dynamics of remote entanglement in the system consisting of a Jaynes-Cummings model and an atom-cavity-optomechanical system. Meanwhile, we find that the remote entanglement is related to the initial entanglement degree between two atoms, the coupling strength between atom and cavity. Moreover, the phenomenon of entanglement sudden death appears in the evolution of entanglement for some initial conditions. By investigating the entanglement transfer among two atoms and cavity 1, we show that the entanglement transfer can be realized at some special time. In particular, we evaluate the tripartite entanglement of the two atoms and cavity 1 through π-tangle, and prepare the larger tripartite entanglement. This implementation of tripartite entanglement might provide a potential way to realize improved information processing and distributed quantum computing.

We investigate the entanglement dynamics of two atoms in a double damping Jaynes-Cummings model. The two atoms are initially in the Bell states and each is in a squeezed vacuum cavity field or coherent cavity field. Compared with the case in coherent field, the atomic entanglement in the squeezed vacuum field is stronger under the same conditions. The results show that we can adopt appropriate parameters such as mean photon number, detuning, the atomic spontaneous decay and the cavity decay, to realize better control of atomic entanglement in quantum information processing. What’s worth mentioning is that proper choosing of the last two parameters enables us to decrease disentanglement period and postpone the moment when the entanglement disappears. Finally, the atomic entanglement in double damping and non-identical Jaynes-Cummings model is obtained

In this paper, the star structure coupled cavities system is composed of six single-mode cavities. One of them is at the center of the star structure, and other five cavities are at the five vertices of the star structure, respectively. The center cavity is connected with other five cavities by optical fibers. The situation is considered that six identical two-level atoms are separately trapped in six single-mode optical cavities, each atom resonantly interacts with cavity via a one-photon hopping, and the total excitation number of the system equals one. Negativity is adopted to quantify the degree of entanglement between two subsystems. The entanglement properties between atoms and that between cavities are investigated. The influences of atom-cavity coupling coefficient on the entanglement properties between two subsystems are studied. The results obtained using the numerical method show that the atom-atom entanglement is weakened, and the cavity-cavity entanglement is strengthened with the increase of atom-cavity coupling coefficient.

The required accelerating gradient in the ILC project is over 30 MeV/m [1]. For current technology, the maximum accelerating gradient in superconducting (SC) structures is limited mainly by the value of the surface RF magnetic field. In order to increase the gradient, the RF magnetic field is distributed homogeneously over the cavity surface (low-loss structure), and coupling to the beam is improved by introducing aperture and cell shape (re-entrant structure). These features allow gradients in excess of 56 MeV/m to be obtained for a single-cell cavity. Further improvement of the coupling to the beam may be achieved by using a traveling wave (TW) SC structure with small phase advance per cell. Calculations show that an additional gradient increase by up to 46% is possible if a π/2 TW SC structure is used. However, a TW SC structure requires a SC feedback waveguide to return the few GW of circulating RF power from the structure output back to the structure input. We discuss variants of the superconducting traveling wave ring (STWR) with one and two feeding couplers. The text was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献
