Given an integrable connection on a smooth quasi-projective algebraic surface U over a subfield k of the complex numbers, we define rapid decay homology groups with respect to the associated analytic connection which pair with the algebraic de Rham cohomology in terms of period
integrals. These homology groups generalize the analogous groups in the same situation over curves defined by Bloch and Esnault.
In dimension two, however, new features appear in this context which we explain in detail. Assuming a conjecture of Sabbah
on the formal classification of meromorphic connections on surfaces (known to be true if the rank is lower than or equal to
5), we prove perfectness of the period pairing in dimension two. 相似文献

In [6], we constructed a period pairing for flat irregular singular conncetions on surfaces. We now extend these constructions to a perfect period pairing between the irregularity complex of the connection and the complex of relative rapid decay chains. As a consequence, the period determinant of the connection decomposes as a product of a topological period determinant on the open surface and a determinant coming from the irregularity of the connection. The technique of dimension reduction earlier developed by the first author is applied to the class of nonconvex minimization problems having the so called rank two property. Stromme (see [S], (1.7)) introduced the notion of jumping conic of a normalized semistable rank two vector bundle E on ℙ2 and he remarked that the locus of jumping conics of E has codimension ≤3+2c1(E), with equality for general E.
Here we introduce a concept of jumping conic of a semistable rank two vector bundle on ℙ2 (see (I.1)) by generalizing the notion of jumping line of the second kind introduced by Hulek in [H]. Our definition agrees
with Stromme's for c1=−1, but not for c1=0. In contrast with the case of jumping lines, where we have a different behaviour in the case c1 even or c1 odd, the set of jumping conics according to our definition is always a divisor (possibly empty) in the ℙ5 of all conics of ℙ2 (see th. Although the theory of rank tests is rather complete in the one-sided case, it was not even known in 1959, whether the Wilcoxon two-sample test and other similar tests are unbiased against the two-sided alternatives (Lehmann (1959,Testing Statistical Hypotheses, p. 240, Wiley, New York)). A partial answer to this question was given by Sugiura in 1965, who found, that the test named above may be biased (Sugiura (1965,Ann. Inst. Statist. Math.,17, 261–263)). According to Lehmann (1986,Testing Statistical Hypotheses, 2nd ed., pp. 322–324, Wiley, New York) it seems to be still open, whether the same is true for the WILCOXON one-sample test, which is also known as WILCOXON signed rank test. An augmented method based on a Cartesian grid is proposed for the incompressible Navier Stokes equations on an irregular domain. The irregular domain is embedded into a rectangular one so that a fast Poisson solver can be used in the projection method. Unlike several methods suggested in the literature that set the force strengths as unknowns, which often results an ill-conditioned linear system, we set the jump in the normal derivative of the velocity as the augmented variable. The new approach improve the condition number of the system for the augmented variable significantly. Using the immersed interface method, we achieve second order accuracy for the velocity.
