We give a proof of transient fluctuation relations for the entropy production (dissipation function) in nonequilibrium systems, which is valid for most time reversible dynamics. We then consider the conditions under which a transient fluctuation relation yields a steady state fluctuation relation for driven nonequilibrium systems whose transients relax, producing a unique nonequilibrium steady state. Although the necessary and sufficient conditions for the production of a unique nonequilibrium steady state are unknown, if such a steady state exists, the generation of the steady state fluctuation relation from the transient relation is shown to be very general. It is essentially a consequence of time reversibility and of a form of decay of correlations in the dissipation, which is needed also for, e.g., the existence of transport coefficients. Because of this generality the resulting steady state fluctuation relation has the same degree of robustness as do equilibrium thermodynamic equalities. The steady state fluctuation relation for the dissipation stands in contrast with the one for the phase space compression factor, whose convergence is problematic, for systems close to equilibrium. We examine some model dynamics that have been considered previously, and show how they are described in the context of this work.  相似文献

It is shown that the so-called statistical theory of turbulence, which can be exactly incorporated by the Hopf functional equation, is imperfect in that it fails to ensure the irreversible approach to a unique ultimate steady state of turbulence (for a steady boundary condition) expected from observation; and that this imperfection is removed if a stochastic random-force term is added into the Navier-Stokes equation. The ensemble mechanics for the random-forced Navier-Stokes flow is formulated by taking into account the natural random force, which has usually been neglected in the Navier-Stokes equation.  相似文献

A simple microkinetic model for the oxidation of methanol on silver based on surface science studies at UHV and low temperatures has been formulated. The reaction mechanism is a simple Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism, with one type of active oxygen and one route to formaldehyde and carbon dioxide, respectively. The model explains observed reaction orders, selectivity, apparent activation enthalpies and the choice of industrial reaction conditions. More interesting the model disproves the notion that the mechanism deduced from surface science in UHV cannot be responsible for formaldehyde synthesis at industrial steady-state conditions. The present work therefore seriously questions the prevailing models of formaldehyde synthesis in the literature. One of the reasons for this controversy is that many of the models in the literature are derived from transient experiments exhibiting dynamic effects that are not present at steady state under industrial conditions.  相似文献

A transient lumped heat pipe formulation for conventional heat pipes is presented and the lumped analytical solutions for different boundary conditions at the evaporator and condenser are given. For high temperature heat pipes with a radiative boundary condition at the condenser, a nonlinear ordinary differential equation is solved. In an attempt to reduce computer demands, a transient lumped conductive model has been developed for noncondensible gas-loaded heat pipes. The lumped flat-front transient model was extended by accounting for axial heat conduction across the sharp vapor-gas interface. The analytical solutions for conventional and gas-loaded heat pipes were compared with the corresponding numerical results of the full two-dimensional conservation equations and experimental data, with good agreement.  相似文献

400 kV high resolution electron microscopy (HREM), deep level transient spectroscopy (DLTS) and steady state electrical measurements have been applied to 37(610) and 29(520) [001] tilt grain boundaries (GBs) in germanium bicrystals. The atomic boundary structures were revealed by experimental HREM images taken under different defocus conditions. Later, structure models were refined by means of a trial-and-error method applying alternatively the image simulation and the molecular static calculation of relaxed structures. The structures were shown to be consistent with the modified structural unit model. Although the structures are different for the two GBs studied, DLTS data and steady state measurements were found to be quite similar for both GBs. Thus, the results point to the extrinsic origin of localized deep states at the GBs. The analysis of DLTS spectra indicates the impurity segregation at the boundary, e.g., the formation of vacancy-type oxygen complexes of a donor-like state at E c-0.21 eV, which results in the fluctuation of the potential barrier. Defects in the GBs—like facets, atomic steps and secondary grain boundary dislocations—which are characteristic of both boundaries can act as nuclei to the impurity segregation.Presented at the Workshop on High-Voltage and High-Resolution Electron Microscopy, February 21–24, 1994, Stuttgart, Germany.  相似文献

Generally, industrial gas turbines (IGT) face transient behavior during start-up, load change, shutdown and variations in ambient conditions. These transient conditions shift engine thermal equilibrium from one steady state to another steady state. In turn, various aero-thermal and mechanical stresses are developed that are adverse for engine’s reliability, availability, and overall health. The transient behavior needs to be accurately predicted since it is highly related to low cycle fatigue and early failures, especially in the hot regions of the gas turbine. In the present paper, several critical aspects related to transient behavior and its modeling are reviewed and studied from the point of view of identifying potential research gaps within the context of fault detection and diagnostics (FDD) under dynamic conditions. Among the considered topics are, (i) general transient regimes and pertinent model formulation techniques, (ii) control mechanism for part-load operation, (iii) developing a database of variable geometry inlet guide vanes (VIGVs) and variable bleed valves (VBVs) schedules along with selection framework, and (iv) data compilation of shaft’s polar moment of inertia for different types of engine’s configurations. This comprehensive literature document, considering all the aspects of transient behavior and its associated modeling techniques will serve as an anchor point for the future researchers, gas turbine operators and design engineers for effective prognostics, FDD and predictive condition monitoring for variable geometry IGT.  相似文献

Monte Carlo simulations of a sheared Ising model are used to study nonequilibrium fluctuations of mechanical work. The validity of the transient (starting from equilibrium) and the steady state fluctuation relations is verified. A fluctuation relation has been also shown to hold for the mechanical work done on the system, during the transition between two nonequilibrium steady states corresponding to different drivings.  相似文献

A modified coupled map car-following model is proposed, in which two successive vehicle headways in front of the considering vehicle is incorporated into the optimal velocity function. The steady state under certain conditions is obtained. An error system around the steady state is studied further. Moreover, the condition for the state having no traffic jam is derived. A new control scheme is presented to suppress the traffic jam in the modified coupled map car-following model under the open boundary. A control signal including the velocity differences between the following and the considering vehicles, and between the preceding and the considering vehicles is used. The condition under which the traffic jam can be well suppressed is analysed. The results are compared with that presented by Konishi et al. (the KKH model). The simulation results show that the temporal behaviour obtained in our model is better than that in the KKH model. The simulation results are in good agreement with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

The magnetic field induced change in the viscosity of a ferrofluid, commonly known as the magnetoviscous effect and parameterized through the magnetoviscosity, is one of the most interesting and practically relevant aspects of ferrofluid phenomena. Although the steady state behavior of ferrofluids under conditions of applied constant magnetic fields has received considerable attention, comparatively little attention has been given to the transient response of the magnetoviscosity to changes in the applied magnetic field or rate of shear deformation. Such transient response can provide further insight into the dynamics of ferrofluids and find practical application in the design of devices that take advantage of the magnetoviscous effect and inevitably must deal with changes in the applied magnetic field and deformation. In this contribution Brownian dynamics simulations and a simple model based on the ferrohydrodynamics equations are applied to explore the dependence of the transient magnetoviscosity for two cases: (I) a ferrofluid in a constant shear flow wherein the magnetic field is suddenly turned on, and (II) a ferrofluid in a constant magnetic field wherein the shear flow is suddenly started. Both simulations and analysis show that the transient approach to a steady state magnetoviscosity can be either monotonic or oscillatory depending on the relative magnitudes of the applied magnetic field and shear rate.  相似文献

The transient vibration and sound radiation (TVSR) of plate-like structures with general elastic boundary conditions was investigated using the time-domain finite element method (TDFEM) and time-domain boundary element method (TDBEM). In this model, the structure can have arbitrary elastic boundary conditions and hence the effects of the boundary conditions on the TVSR can be effectively studied. The predicted results agreed well with existing experimental data using two classical boundary conditions: simply supported at all edges and clamped-free-free-free. The TVSR of a single panel with a more general boundary condition in two connected chambers was also measured. The predicted results agreed well with these experimental results. The prediction method was subsequently applied to evaluate the effects of elastic boundary supports on the TVSR of a window caused by a sonic boom. Loudness, non-audible acoustic perception, and tactile vibration thresholds were analyzed for different boundary conditions (varying between clamped and simply supported). The possibility of improving the transient vibration and noise isolation performance by selecting an appropriate boundary condition was thereby demonstrated.  相似文献

自然循环特性是铅基反应堆一回路的关键运行特性,对反应堆的非能动应急余热排出具有重要的影响,自然循环特性与余热排出能力是反应堆热工水力研究的重要内容。采用多孔介质方法,建立了CiADS铅基堆1/4三维计算模型,使用FLUENT程序对额定工况与低功率工况进行稳态计算。为了研究全厂断电事故下的余热排出过程,从热工水力的等效原则出发,尝试建立二维等效模型以提高瞬态计算效率。结果表明,CiADS铅基堆具备低功率自然循环运行能力和一定的事故容错能力;二维等效模型与三维模型计算结果吻合较好,可用于瞬态下的简化分析;CiADS铅基堆的非能动余热排出系统能够较好地应对全厂断电事故,反应堆具有良好的固有安全性。  相似文献

The energy disposal via electron-hole (e-h) pair formation in the highly exoergic recombination of gas atoms on metal surfaces, has been studied. The impact of this excitation process on the energy spectrum of the metal electrons has been investigated at steady state. The energy distribution function of the electrons is shown to be non-thermal to an extent that depends on the reaction rate, probability distribution function for e-h pair creation and physical parameters of the material. The model has been applied to compute the electron spectra of metal surfaces, using kinetic data on H atom recombination that are available from the literature. The number of electrons made available for detection as chemicurrent has been derived and compared to experimental data on the H/Cu system. The interplay between the electron distribution function and the reaction kinetics is analysed by means of the principle of detailed balance. The detailed balancing analysis shows that, depending on the e-h excitation energy, the rate constant of energy transfer from the bath to the adlayer can be orders of magnitude larger than that proper for equilibrium conditions.  相似文献

This paper presents three boundary meshless methods for solving problems of steady-state and transient heat conduction in nonlinear functionally graded materials (FGMs). The three methods are, respectively, the method of fundamental solution (MFS), the boundary knot method (BKM), and the collocation Trefftz method (CTM) in conjunction with Kirchhoff transformation and various variable transformations. In the analysis, Laplace transform technique is employed to handle the time variable in transient heat conduction problem and the Stehfest numerical Laplace inversion is applied to retrieve the corresponding time-dependent solutions. The proposed MFS, BKM and CTM are mathematically simple, easy-to-programming, meshless, highly accurate and integration-free. Three numerical examples of steady state and transient heat conduction in nonlinear FGMs are considered, and the results are compared with those from meshless local boundary integral equation method (LBIEM) and analytical solutions to demonstrate the efficiency of the present schemes.  相似文献

The transient of an erbium-doped fiber ring laser coupled to another one receiving CW pump power is studied. The transient signals experimentally obtained may present different profiles depending on several conditions (degree of coupling between both lasers, pump powers of each one, etc.). In particular, an appropriate choice of working conditions makes possible to suppress relaxation oscillations and to shorten the time elapsed since the moment of pump switch-on till steady state. A model is proposed in which inclusion of polarization hole burning has been necessary to achieve an acceptable agreement with the transient behaviors experimentally observed.  相似文献

The transient fluctuation of the prosperity of firms in a network economy is investigated with an abstract stochastic model. The model describes the profit which firms make when they sell materials to a firm which produces a product and the fixed cost expense to the firms to produce those materials and product. The formulas for this model are parallel to those for population dynamics. The swinging changes in the fluctuation in the transient state from the initial growth to the final steady state are the consequence of a topology-dependent time trial competition between the profitable interactions and expense. The firm in a sparse random network economy is more likely to go bankrupt than expected from the value of the limit of the fluctuation in the steady state, and there is a risk of failing to reach by far the less fluctuating steady state.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to investigate the exact general solutions of the incompressible viscous fluid flow by using the time-fractional Caputo–Fabrizio derivative. The flow of the fluid is subject to the motion of a plane wall, embedded in a porous medium under the influence of magnetic field. The corresponding non-dimensional governing fractional differential equation with appropriate initial and boundary conditions is solved by means of integral transforms namely, Laplace and Fourier transforms. Solutions are expressed as a sum of steady and transient parts, for the sinusoidal oscillations of the plane wall. The influence of involved physical parameters are discussed graphically. Specifically, it has been observed that the effective permeability Keff reduces the time taken to reach the steady state.  相似文献

The diffusion equation with an added sink term describing the energy transfer by a dipole-dipole mechanism was solved under steady state conditions using the radiation boundary condition. An equation for the non-radiative energy transfer rate constant between organic fluorescent molecules was obtained. This general equation contains the particular cases of a total reflecting boundary condition and the so-called Smoluchowski boundary condition already obtained by other authors.  相似文献
