We describe the synthesis, characterization, and select properties of a novel polyurethane (PU) prepared using a new polyisobutylene diol, HO‐CH2CH2‐S‐PIB‐S‐CH2CH2‐OH, soft segment and conventional hard segments. The diol is synthesized by terminal functionalization of ally‐telechelic PIB followed by low‐cost thiol‐ene click chemistry. Properties of ‐S‐ containing PU (PIBS‐PU) containing 72.5% PIB were investigated and compared to similar PUs made with HO‐PIB‐OH (PIBO‐PU). Hydrolytic resistance was studied by contact with phosphate‐buffered saline, oxidative resistance by immersing in concentrated HNO3, and metal ion oxidation resistance by exposure to CoCl2/H2O2. Hydrolytic and oxidative resistances of PIBS‐PU and PIBO‐PU are similar and superior to a commercial PDMS‐based PU, Elast‐Eon? E2A. According to 1H NMR spectroscopy the ‐S‐ in PIBS‐PUs remained unchanged upon treatment with HNO3, however, oxidized mainly to ‐SO2‐ by CoCl2/H2O2. Static mechanical properties of PIBS‐PU and PIBO‐PU are similar, except creep resistance of PIBS‐PU is surprisingly superior. The thermal stability of PIBS‐PUs is ~15 °C higher than that of PIBO‐PU. FTIR spectroscopy indicates H bonded S atoms (N‐H…S) between soft and hard segments, which noticeably affect properties. DSC and XRD studies suggest random low‐periodicity crystals dispersed within a soft matrix. Energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy–scanning electron microscopy indicates homogeneous distribution of S atoms on PIBS‐PU surfaces. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. A new, simplified method has been developed for the synthesis of S,S‐dialkyl‐S‐(dimethylhydroxyphenyl)sulfonium salt cationic photoinitiators. This novel method has successfully been used for the preparation of S,S‐dialkyl‐S‐(3,5‐dimethyl‐4‐hydroxyphenyl)sulfonium and S,S‐dialkyl‐S‐(3,5‐dimethyl‐2‐hydroxyphenyl)sulfonium salts showing a wide variation in the length and structure of the alkyl chains on the positively charged sulfur atom. These photoinitiators can also be prepared with a wide variety of different anions. The manipulation of the lengths of the alkyl chains permits the design of compatible photoinitiators for highly nonpolar monomers and oligomers such as epoxy‐functional silicones, epoxidized polybutadiene, and epoxidized vegetable oils. The alkylation reactions of soft scorpionates are reported. The hydrotris(S‐alkyl‐methimazolyl)borate dications (alkyl=methyl, allyl, benzyl), which were prepared by the reaction of TmMe anion and primary alkyl halides, have been isolated and structurally characterised. The reaction is, however, not universally successful. DFT analysis of these alkylation reactions (C?S versus B? H alkylation) indicates that the observed outcome is driven by kinetic factors. Extending the study to incorporate alternative imine thiones (mercaptobenzothiazole, bz; thiazoline, tz) led to the structural characterisation of di[aquo‐μ‐aquohydrotris(mercaptobenzothiazolyl)boratosodium], which contains sodium atoms in the κ3S,S,S coordination mode. Alkylation of Na[Tbz] and Na[tzTtz] leads to decomposition resulting in the formation of the simple S‐alkylated heterocycles. The analysis of the species involved in these reactions shows an inherent weakness in the B? N bond in soft scorpionates, which has implications for their use in more advanced chemistry.  相似文献

A study of the photoinitiated and thermally initiated cationic polymerizations of several monomer systems with S,S‐dialkyl‐S‐(3,5‐dimethylhydroxyphenyl)sulfonium salt (HPS) photoinitiators bearing different lengths of alkyl chains on the positively charged sulfur atom has been conducted. HPS photoinitiators are capable of photoinitiating the cationic polymerization of a wide variety of epoxy and vinyl ether monomers directly on irradiation with short‐wavelength UV light. Aryl ketone photosensitizers are effective in extending the spectral response of these photoinitiators into the long‐wavelength UV region. Kinetic studies with real‐time infrared spectroscopy show that HPS photoinitiators exhibit good efficiency in the polymerization of epoxide and vinyl ether monomers. Comparative studies also demonstrate that S,S‐dimethyl‐S‐(3,5‐dimethyl‐2‐hydroxyphenyl)sulfonium salts are more active photoinitiators than their isomeric S,S‐dimethyl‐S‐(3,5‐dimethyl‐4‐hydroxyphenyl)sulfonium salt counterparts. Both types of HPS photoinitiators display reversible photolysis as a result of facile termination reactions that take place between the growing chains ends with the photogenerated sulfur ylides. Preliminary studies have shown that HPS photoinitiators can also be employed as thermal initiators for the cationic ring‐opening polymerization of epoxides at moderate temperatures. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. By reacting 4,5‐unsubstituted isothiazole dioxides with diazoalkanes and nitrile oxides bicyclic pyrazolo[3,4‐d]isothiazole and isothiazolo[5,4‐d]isoxazole S,S‐dioxides were obtained in good yield through a regioselective cycloaddition reaction. Through cycloaddition reaction of 3‐benzylamino‐4‐bromo‐isothiazole S,S‐dioxide labile cycloadducts were formed that underwent in situ dehydrobromination affording the corresponding aromatized compounds.  相似文献

The title compound, C12H8N2O6S2, (I), is a positional isomer of S‐(2‐nitrophenyl) 2‐nitrobenzenethiosulfonate [Glidewell, Low & Wardell (2000). Acta Cryst. B 56 , 893–905], (II). The most obvious difference between the two isomers is the rotation of the nitro groups with respect to the planes of the adjacent aryl rings. In (I), the nitro groups are only slightly rotated out of the plane of the adjacent aryl ring [2.4 (6) and 6.7 (7)°], while in (II) the nitro groups are rotated by between 37 and 52°, in every case associated with S—S—C—C torsion angles close to 90°. Other important differences between the isomers are the C—S—S(O2)—C torsion angle [78.39 (2)° for (I) and 69.8 (3)° for (II) (mean)] and the dihedral angles between the aromatic rings [12.3 (3)° for (I) and 28.6 (3)° for (II) (mean)]. There are two types of C—H...O hydrogen bond in the structure [C...O = 3.262 (7) Å and C—H...O = 144°; C...O = 3.447 (7) Å and C—H...O = 166°] and these link the molecules into a two‐dimensional framework. The hydrogen‐bond‐acceptor properties differ between the two isomers.  相似文献

S ‐Adenosylmethionine‐dependent methyltransferases (MTs) play a decisive role in the biosynthesis of natural products and in epigenetic processes. MTs catalyze the methylation of heteroatoms and even of carbon atoms, which, in many cases, is a challenging reaction in conventional synthesis. However, C‐MTs are often highly substrate‐specific. Herein, we show that SgvM from Streptomyces griseoviridis features an extended substrate scope with respect to the nucleophile as well as the electrophile. Aside from its physiological substrate 4‐methyl‐2‐oxovalerate, SgvM catalyzes the (di)methylation of pyruvate, 2‐oxobutyrate, 2‐oxovalerate, and phenylpyruvate at the β‐carbon atom. Chiral‐phase HPLC analysis revealed that the methylation of 2‐oxovalerate occurs with R selectivity while the ethylation of 2‐oxobutyrate with S ‐adenosylethionine results in the S enantiomer of 3‐methyl‐2‐oxovalerate. Thus SgvM could be a valuable tool for asymmetric biocatalytic C‐alkylation reactions.  相似文献

A new 2‐oxazolines containing S‐galactosyl substituents linked to alkyl chains of different lengths; (S‐glycooxazoline) were prepared relatively in high yields. By using a 1:1 adduct of 2‐methyl‐2‐oxazoline and methyl triflate, as the initiator, the monomer was polymerized via ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) to give products with relatively narrow molecular weight distributions. Homo‐ and copolymerization were performed, and the kinetics of these new S‐glycooxazolines in the ROP are investigated. After a quantitative deprotection, poly(2‐oxazoline)s having pendant carbohydrate were obtained. The interaction of the poly(S‐glycooxazoline) with RCA120 lectin was investigated, the binding constant between glycopolymer and lectin was increased by 102 times compared with that of the monosaccharide (D ‐galactose). The in vivo expression of green fluorescent protein using the synthesized poly(S‐glycooxazoline)s as polymeric inducers in Escherichia coli host were performed. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
