A method is presented for determining the initial conditions of classical orbits from the quantum spectra of the diamagnetic hydrogen atom. Each classical trajectory which is closed at the nucleus produces a sinusoidal fluctuation in the photoabsorption spectrum. The amplitude of each orbit's contribution appears in the Fourier transform of a spectrum computed at constant scaled energy. For a given initial state, closed-orbit theory gives the dependence of this recurrence amplitude on the initial angle of an orbit. By comparing the recurrence amplitudes for different initial states, the initial conditions of closed classical orbits are determined from quantum spectra. A modified Metropolis algorithm is developed and used to construct axial-symmetric and multimonopole classical solutions in the (lattice-regularized) SO(3) Georgi-Glashow model outside the BPS limit. The experimental results of Kocsis et al., Mahler et al. and the proposed experiments of Morley et al. show that it is possible to construct “trajectories” in interference regions in a two-slit interferometer. These results call for a theoretical re-appraisal of the notion of a “quantum trajectory” first introduced by Dirac and in the present paper we re-examine this notion from the Bohm perspective based on Hamiltonian flows. In particular, we examine the short-time propagator and the role that the quantum potential plays in determining the form of these trajectories. These trajectories differ from those produced in a typical particle tracker and the key to this difference lies in the active suppression of the quantum potential necessary to produce Mott-type trajectories. We show, using a rigorous mathematical argument, how the active suppression of this potential arises. Finally we discuss in detail how this suppression also accounts for the quantum Zeno effect. 相似文献

Two known two-dimensional SUSY quantum mechanical constructions—the direct generalization of SUSY with first-order supercharges and higher-order SUSY with second-order supercharges—are combined for a class of 2-dim quantum models, which are not amenable to separation of variables. The appropriate classical limit of quantum systems allows us to construct SUSY-extensions of original classical scalar Hamiltonians. Special emphasis is placed on the symmetry properties of the models thus obtained—the explicit expressions of quantum symmetry operators and of classical integrals of motion are given for all (scalar and matrix) components of SUSY-extensions. Using Grassmanian variables, the symmetry operators and classical integrals of motion are written in a unique form for the whole Superhamiltonian. The links of the approach to the classical Hamilton-Jacobi method for related “flipped” potentials are established. 相似文献

We consider oscillators evolving subject to a periodic driving force that dynamically entangles them, and argue that this gives the linearized evolution around periodic orbits in a general chaotic Hamiltonian dynamical system. We show that the entanglement entropy, after tracing over half of the oscillators, generically asymptotes to linear growth at a rate given by the sum of the positive Lyapunov exponents of the system. These exponents give a classical entropy growth rate, in the sense of Kolmogorov, Sinai and Pesin. We also calculate the dependence of this entropy on linear mixtures of the oscillator Hilbert-space factors, to investigate the dependence of the entanglement entropy on the choice of coarse graining. We find that for almost all choices the asymptotic growth rate is the same. 相似文献

Fluorescence from an ensemble of noninteracting molecules excited by continuous laser radiation is considered as a glow of M individual molecules. The expression that governs the autocorrelation function (ACF) of fluorescence from M molecules is derived based on the theoretical expression that governs the ACF of fluorescence from a single-molecule. Fluctuations of blinking fluorescence and its statistical properties are analyzed using a computer simulation. The results of statistical analysis of the computer experiment are in good agreement with the derived formula that governs the ACF of fluorescence from several molecules. 相似文献

Understanding the crossover from quantum to classical transport has become of fundamental importance not only for technological applications due to the creation of sub-10-nm transistors – an important building block of our modern life – but also for elucidating the role played by quantum mechanics in the evolutionary fitness of biological complexes. This article provides a basic introduction into the nature of charge and energy transport in the quantum and classical regimes. It discusses the characteristic transport properties in both limits and demonstrates how they can be connected through the loss of quantum mechanical coherence. The salient features of the crossover physics are identified, and their importance in opening new transport regimes and in understanding efficient and robust energy transport in biological complexes are demonstrated. 相似文献

We consider the Sel’kov model of glycolytic oscillator for a quantitative study of the limit cycle oscillations in the system.
We identify a region of parameter space where perturbation theory holds and use both Linstedt Poincaré technique and harmonic
balance to obtain the shape and frequency of the limit cycle. The agreement with the numerically obtained result is excellent.
We also find a different extreme, where the limit cycle is of the relaxation oscillator variety, has a large time period and
it is seen that, as a particular parameter in the model is varied, the time period increases indefinitely. We characterize
