ChemInform Abstract: Refined Crystal Structure and Idealized Structure of Mixed‐Valent Eu4F5(CN2)2: Transition Possible.

The title compound is prepared by solid state reaction of EuF₃, EuF_2+x, and Li₂(CN₂) at 700 °C and characterized by single crystal XRD, ¹⁵¹Eu Moessbauer spectroscopy, and magnetic measurements.

Single crystals of the title compounds are simultaneously obtained from mixtures of Nd₂O₃ and SiO₂ in the molar ratio 1:0.75 using a eutectic mixture of NaF and KF as a flux (covered Ag crucible, 850 °C, 24 h).

Colorless lath-shaped single crystals of the title compound are obtained from a melt of Y₂O₃, YF₃, and SiO₂ (2:5:3 molar ratio) using CsCl as a flux (evacuated silica tube, 973 K, 9 d, 10 K/h cooling rate).
