We present a detailed study of the Schrödinger picture space of states in theSU(2) Chern-Simons topological gauge theory in the simplest geometry. The space coincides with that of the solutions of the chiral Ward identities for the WZW model. We prove that its dimension is given by E. Verlinde's formulae. 相似文献

We present the solution of the non-Abelian SU (3) Chern-Simons field theory defined in a generic three-manifold which is closed, connected and orientable. The surgery rules, which permit us to solve the theory, are derived and several examples of vacuum expectation values of Wilson line operators are computed. The three-manifold invariant associated with the non-Abelian SU (3) Chern-Simons model is defined and its values are computed for various three-manifolds. 相似文献

The antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model on the frustrated Shastry-Sutherland lattice is studied by a mapping onto spinless fermions carrying one quantum of statistical flux. Using a mean-field approximation these fermions populate the bands of a generalized Hofstadter problem. Their filling leads to the magnetization curve. For SrCu(2)(BO(3))(2) we reproduce plateaus at 1/3 and 1/4 of the saturation moment and predict a new one at 1/2. Gaussian fluctuations of the gauge field are shown to be massive at these plateau values. 相似文献

Wess-Zumino conformal field theory are presented. A large class of representations of the generators of the groupoid of coloured-oriented braids are obtained. These provide a whole lot of new link invariants of which Jones polynomials are the simplest examples. We present a simple heuristic calculational scheme to relate the expectation value of Wilson loops in Chern-Simons theory to the Jones polynomial. We consider the exponential of the generator of homotopy transformations which produces the finite loop deformations that define the crossing change formulas of knot polynomials. Applying this operator to the expectation value of Wilson loops for an unspecified measure, we find a set of conditions on the measure and the regularization such that the Jones polynomial is obtained. 相似文献
