In this paper, we study the statistical inference of the generalized inverted exponential distribution with the same scale parameter and various shape parameters based on joint progressively type-II censored data. The expectation maximization (EM) algorithm is applied to calculate the maximum likelihood estimates (MLEs) of the parameters. We obtain the observed information matrix based on the missing value principle. Interval estimations are computed by the bootstrap method. We provide Bayesian inference for the informative prior and the non-informative prior. The importance sampling technique is performed to derive the Bayesian estimates and credible intervals under the squared error loss function and the linex loss function, respectively. Eventually, we conduct the Monte Carlo simulation and real data analysis. Moreover, we consider the parameters that have order restrictions and provide the maximum likelihood estimates and Bayesian inference.  相似文献

The statistical inference of the reliability and parameters of the stress–strength model has received great attention in the field of reliability analysis. When following the generalized progressive hybrid censoring (GPHC) scheme, it is important to discuss the point estimate and interval estimate of the reliability of the multicomponent stress–strength (MSS) model, in which the stress and the strength variables are derived from different distributions by assuming that stress follows the Chen distribution and that strength follows the Gompertz distribution. In the present study, the Newton–Raphson method was adopted to derive the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) of the model parameters, and the corresponding asymptotic distribution was adopted to construct the asymptotic confidence interval (ACI). Subsequently, the exact confidence interval (ECI) of the parameters was calculated. A hybrid Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method was adopted to determine the approximate Bayesian estimation (BE) of the unknown parameters and the high posterior density credible interval (HPDCI). A simulation study with the actual dataset was conducted for the BEs with squared error loss function (SELF) and the MLEs of the model parameters and reliability, comparing the bias and mean squares errors (MSE). In addition, the three interval estimates were compared in terms of the average interval length (AIL) and coverage probability (CP).  相似文献

The point and interval estimations for the unknown parameters of an exponentiated half-logistic distribution based on adaptive type II progressive censoring are obtained in this article. At the beginning, the maximum likelihood estimators are derived. Afterward, the observed and expected Fisher’s information matrix are obtained to construct the asymptotic confidence intervals. Meanwhile, the percentile bootstrap method and the bootstrap-t method are put forward for the establishment of confidence intervals. With respect to Bayesian estimation, the Lindley method is used under three different loss functions. The importance sampling method is also applied to calculate Bayesian estimates and construct corresponding highest posterior density (HPD) credible intervals. Finally, numerous simulation studies are conducted on the basis of Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) samples to contrast the performance of the estimations, and an authentic data set is analyzed for exemplifying intention.  相似文献

In this paper, the parameter estimation problem of a truncated normal distribution is discussed based on the generalized progressive hybrid censored data. The desired maximum likelihood estimates of unknown quantities are firstly derived through the Newton–Raphson algorithm and the expectation maximization algorithm. Based on the asymptotic normality of the maximum likelihood estimators, we develop the asymptotic confidence intervals. The percentile bootstrap method is also employed in the case of the small sample size. Further, the Bayes estimates are evaluated under various loss functions like squared error, general entropy, and linex loss functions. Tierney and Kadane approximation, as well as the importance sampling approach, is applied to obtain the Bayesian estimates under proper prior distributions. The associated Bayesian credible intervals are constructed in the meantime. Extensive numerical simulations are implemented to compare the performance of different estimation methods. Finally, an authentic example is analyzed to illustrate the inference approaches.  相似文献

Entropy measures the uncertainty associated with a random variable. It has important applications in cybernetics, probability theory, astrophysics, life sciences and other fields. Recently, many authors focused on the estimation of entropy with different life distributions. However, the estimation of entropy for the generalized Bilal (GB) distribution has not yet been involved. In this paper, we consider the estimation of the entropy and the parameters with GB distribution based on adaptive Type-II progressive hybrid censored data. Maximum likelihood estimation of the entropy and the parameters are obtained using the Newton–Raphson iteration method. Bayesian estimations under different loss functions are provided with the help of Lindley’s approximation. The approximate confidence interval and the Bayesian credible interval of the parameters and entropy are obtained by using the delta and Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods, respectively. Monte Carlo simulation studies are carried out to observe the performances of the different point and interval estimations. Finally, a real data set has been analyzed for illustrative purposes.  相似文献

Dynamic cumulative residual (DCR) entropy is a valuable randomness metric that may be used in survival analysis. The Bayesian estimator of the DCR Rényi entropy (DCRRéE) for the Lindley distribution using the gamma prior is discussed in this article. Using a number of selective loss functions, the Bayesian estimator and the Bayesian credible interval are calculated. In order to compare the theoretical results, a Monte Carlo simulation experiment is proposed. Generally, we note that for a small true value of the DCRRéE, the Bayesian estimates under the linear exponential loss function are favorable compared to the others based on this simulation study. Furthermore, for large true values of the DCRRéE, the Bayesian estimate under the precautionary loss function is more suitable than the others. The Bayesian estimates of the DCRRéE work well when increasing the sample size. Real-world data is evaluated for further clarification, allowing the theoretical results to be validated.  相似文献

This paper discussed the estimation of stress-strength reliability parameter R=P(Y<X) based on complete samples when the stress-strength are two independent Poisson half logistic random variables (PHLD). We have addressed the estimation of R in the general case and when the scale parameter is common. The classical and Bayesian estimation (BE) techniques of R are studied. The maximum likelihood estimator (MLE) and its asymptotic distributions are obtained; an approximate asymptotic confidence interval of R is computed using the asymptotic distribution. The non-parametric percentile bootstrap and student’s bootstrap confidence interval of R are discussed. The Bayes estimators of R are computed using a gamma prior and discussed under various loss functions such as the square error loss function (SEL), absolute error loss function (AEL), linear exponential error loss function (LINEX), generalized entropy error loss function (GEL) and maximum a posteriori (MAP). The Metropolis–Hastings algorithm is used to estimate the posterior distributions of the estimators of R. The highest posterior density (HPD) credible interval is constructed based on the SEL. Monte Carlo simulations are used to numerically analyze the performance of the MLE and Bayes estimators, the results were quite satisfactory based on their mean square error (MSE) and confidence interval. Finally, we used two real data studies to demonstrate the performance of the proposed estimation techniques in practice and to illustrate how PHLD is a good candidate in reliability studies.  相似文献

We introduce here a new distribution called the power-modified Kies-exponential (PMKE) distribution and derive some of its mathematical properties. Its hazard function can be bathtub-shaped, increasing, or decreasing. Its parameters are estimated by seven classical methods. Further, Bayesian estimation, under square error, general entropy, and Linex loss functions are adopted to estimate the parameters. Simulation results are provided to investigate the behavior of these estimators. The estimation methods are sorted, based on partial and overall ranks, to determine the best estimation approach for the model parameters. The proposed distribution can be used to model a real-life turbocharger dataset, as compared with 24 extensions of the exponential distribution.  相似文献

Inverted exponentiated Rayleigh distribution is a widely used and important continuous lifetime distribution, which plays a key role in lifetime research. The joint progressively type-II censoring scheme is an effective method used in the quality evaluation of products from different assembly lines. In this paper, we study the statistical inference of inverted exponentiated Rayleigh distribution based on joint progressively type-II censored data. The likelihood function and maximum likelihood estimates are obtained firstly by adopting Expectation-Maximization algorithm. Then, we calculate the observed information matrix based on the missing value principle. Bootstrap-p and Bootstrap-t methods are applied to get confidence intervals. Bayesian approaches under square loss function and linex loss function are provided respectively to derive the estimates, during which the importance sampling method is introduced. Finally, the Monte Carlo simulation and real data analysis are performed for further study.  相似文献

This paper considers the periodic self-exciting threshold integer-valued autoregressive processes under a weaker condition in which the second moment is finite instead of the innovation distribution being given. The basic statistical properties of the model are discussed, the quasi-likelihood inference of the parameters is investigated, and the asymptotic behaviors of the estimators are obtained. Threshold estimates based on quasi-likelihood and least squares methods are given. Simulation studies evidence that the quasi-likelihood methods perform well with realistic sample sizes and may be superior to least squares and maximum likelihood methods. The practical application of the processes is illustrated by a time series dataset concerning the monthly counts of claimants collecting short-term disability benefits from the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB). In addition, the forecasting problem of this dataset is addressed.  相似文献

Uniform error estimates with power-type asymptotic constants of the finite element method for the unsteady Navier–Stokes equations are deduced in this paper. By introducing an iterative scheme and studying its convergence, we firstly derive that the solution of the Navier–Stokes equations is bounded by power-type constants, where we avoid applying the Gronwall lemma, which generates exponential-type factors. Then, the technique is extended to the error estimate of the long-time finite element approximation. The analyses show that, under some assumptions on the given data, the asymptotic constants in the finite element error estimates for the unsteady Navier–Stokes equations are uniformly power functions with respect to the initial data, the viscosity, and the body force for all time t>0. Finally, some numerical examples are shown to verify the theoretical predictions.  相似文献

Shannon’s entropy is one of the building blocks of information theory and an essential aspect of Machine Learning (ML) methods (e.g., Random Forests). Yet, it is only finitely defined for distributions with fast decaying tails on a countable alphabet. The unboundedness of Shannon’s entropy over the general class of all distributions on an alphabet prevents its potential utility from being fully realized. To fill the void in the foundation of information theory, Zhang (2020) proposed generalized Shannon’s entropy, which is finitely defined everywhere. The plug-in estimator, adopted in almost all entropy-based ML method packages, is one of the most popular approaches to estimating Shannon’s entropy. The asymptotic distribution for Shannon’s entropy’s plug-in estimator was well studied in the existing literature. This paper studies the asymptotic properties for the plug-in estimator of generalized Shannon’s entropy on countable alphabets. The developed asymptotic properties require no assumptions on the original distribution. The proposed asymptotic properties allow for interval estimation and statistical tests with generalized Shannon’s entropy.  相似文献

The Rao’s score, Wald and likelihood ratio tests are the most common procedures for testing hypotheses in parametric models. None of the three test statistics is uniformly superior to the other two in relation with the power function, and moreover, they are first-order equivalent and asymptotically optimal. Conversely, these three classical tests present serious robustness problems, as they are based on the maximum likelihood estimator, which is highly non-robust. To overcome this drawback, some test statistics have been introduced in the literature based on robust estimators, such as robust generalized Wald-type and Rao-type tests based on minimum divergence estimators. In this paper, restricted minimum Rényi’s pseudodistance estimators are defined, and their asymptotic distribution and influence function are derived. Further, robust Rao-type and divergence-based tests based on minimum Rényi’s pseudodistance and restricted minimum Rényi’s pseudodistance estimators are considered, and the asymptotic properties of the new families of tests statistics are obtained. Finally, the robustness of the proposed estimators and test statistics is empirically examined through a simulation study, and illustrative applications in real-life data are analyzed.  相似文献

The inverted Topp–Leone distribution is a new, appealing model for reliability analysis. In this paper, a new distribution, named new exponential inverted Topp–Leone (NEITL) is presented, which adds an extra shape parameter to the inverted Topp–Leone distribution. The graphical representations of its density, survival, and hazard rate functions are provided. The following properties are explored: quantile function, mixture representation, entropies, moments, and stress–strength reliability. We plotted the skewness and kurtosis measures of the proposed model based on the quantiles. Three different estimation procedures are suggested to estimate the distribution parameters, reliability, and hazard rate functions, along with their confidence intervals. Additionally, stress–strength reliability estimators for the NEITL model were obtained. To illustrate the findings of the paper, two real datasets on engineering and medical fields have been analyzed.  相似文献

In the parameter estimation of limit extreme value distributions, most employed methods only use some of the available data. Using the peaks-over-threshold method for Generalized Pareto Distribution (GPD), only the observations above a certain threshold are considered; therefore, a big amount of information is wasted. The aim of this work is to make the most of the information provided by the observations in order to improve the accuracy of Bayesian parameter estimation. We present two new Bayesian methods to estimate the parameters of the GPD, taking into account the whole data set from the baseline distribution and the existing relations between the baseline and the limit GPD parameters in order to define highly informative priors. We make a comparison between the Bayesian Metropolis–Hastings algorithm with data over the threshold and the new methods when the baseline distribution is a stable distribution, whose properties assure we can reduce the problem to study standard distributions and also allow us to propose new estimators for the parameters of the tail distribution. Specifically, three cases of stable distributions were considered: Normal, Lévy and Cauchy distributions, as main examples of the different behaviors of the tails of a distribution. Nevertheless, the methods would be applicable to many other baseline distributions through finding relations between baseline and GPD parameters via studies of simulations. To illustrate this situation, we study the application of the methods with real data of air pollution in Badajoz (Spain), whose baseline distribution fits a Gamma, and show that the baseline methods improve estimates compared to the Bayesian Metropolis–Hastings algorithm.  相似文献

This paper presents objective priors for robust Bayesian estimation against outliers based on divergences. The minimum γ-divergence estimator is well-known to work well in estimation against heavy contamination. The robust Bayesian methods by using quasi-posterior distributions based on divergences have been also proposed in recent years. In the objective Bayesian framework, the selection of default prior distributions under such quasi-posterior distributions is an important problem. In this study, we provide some properties of reference and moment matching priors under the quasi-posterior distribution based on the γ-divergence. In particular, we show that the proposed priors are approximately robust under the condition on the contamination distribution without assuming any conditions on the contamination ratio. Some simulation studies are also presented.  相似文献

A load-sharing system is defined as a parallel system whose load will be redistributed to its surviving components as each of the components fails in the system. Our focus is on making statistical inference of the parameters associated with the lifetime distribution of each component in the system. In this paper, we introduce a methodology which integrates the conventional procedure under the assumption of the load-sharing system being made up of fundamental hypothetical latent random variables. We then develop an expectation maximization algorithm for performing the maximum likelihood estimation of the system with Lindley-distributed component lifetimes. We adopt several standard simulation techniques to compare the performance of the proposed methodology with the Newton–Raphson-type algorithm for the maximum likelihood estimate of the parameter. Numerical results indicate that the proposed method is more effective by consistently reaching a global maximum.  相似文献

For the purpose of improving the statistical efficiency of estimators in life-testing experiments, generalized Type-I hybrid censoring has lately been implemented by guaranteeing that experiments only terminate after a certain number of failures appear. With the wide applications of bathtub-shaped distribution in engineering areas and the recently introduced generalized Type-I hybrid censoring scheme, considering that there is no work coalescing this certain type of censoring model with a bathtub-shaped distribution, we consider the parameter inference under generalized Type-I hybrid censoring. First, estimations of the unknown scale parameter and the reliability function are obtained under the Bayesian method based on LINEX and squared error loss functions with a conjugate gamma prior. The comparison of estimations under the E-Bayesian method for different prior distributions and loss functions is analyzed. Additionally, Bayesian and E-Bayesian estimations with two unknown parameters are introduced. Furthermore, to verify the robustness of the estimations above, the Monte Carlo method is introduced for the simulation study. Finally, the application of the discussed inference in practice is illustrated by analyzing a real data set.  相似文献

This paper studies the agent identity privacy problem in the scalar linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) control system. The agent identity is a binary hypothesis: Agent A or Agent B. An eavesdropper is assumed to make a hypothesis testing the agent identity based on the intercepted environment state sequence. The privacy risk is measured by the Kullback–Leibler divergence between the probability distributions of state sequences under two hypotheses. By taking into account both the accumulative control reward and privacy risk, an optimization problem of the policy of Agent B is formulated. This paper shows that the optimal deterministic privacy-preserving LQG policy of Agent B is a linear mapping. A sufficient condition is given to guarantee that the optimal deterministic privacy-preserving policy is time-invariant in the asymptotic regime. It is also shown that adding an independent Gaussian random process noise to the linear mapping of the optimal deterministic privacy-preserving policy cannot improve the performance of Agent B. The numerical experiments justify the theoretic results and illustrate the reward–privacy trade-off.  相似文献

Minimum Renyi’s pseudodistance estimators (MRPEs) enjoy good robustness properties without a significant loss of efficiency in general statistical models, and, in particular, for linear regression models (LRMs). In this line, Castilla et al. considered robust Wald-type test statistics in LRMs based on these MRPEs. In this paper, we extend the theory of MRPEs to Generalized Linear Models (GLMs) using independent and nonidentically distributed observations (INIDO). We derive asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators and analyze their influence function to asses their robustness properties. Additionally, we define robust Wald-type test statistics for testing linear hypothesis and theoretically study their asymptotic distribution, as well as their influence function. The performance of the proposed MRPEs and Wald-type test statistics are empirically examined for the Poisson Regression models through a simulation study, focusing on their robustness properties. We finally test the proposed methods in a real dataset related to the treatment of epilepsy, illustrating the superior performance of the robust MRPEs as well as Wald-type tests.  相似文献
