The influence of multi-pion correlations on two-pion interferometry analysis in multi-pion events can be expressed as the ratio of a multi pion correlation factor for the sample of like-pion pairs to a residual correlation factor for the reference sample.Although these two correlation factors can be partially cancelled our in data analyses,the difference between these two factors in the low relative momentum region is so large that the distortion on the analysed results of two-pion interferometry from multi-pion interference becomes a serious problem when the pion source has a small radius and the pion multiplicity of event is high.The distributions of multi-pion correlation factor Cn-2(q) can sensitively reflect the multi-pion correlation effects in the events The analyses of multi-pion correlation factor for two Bevalac streamer chamber data samples of 2.1AGeV Ne+Pb and 1.8AGeV Ar+Pb collisions show that the multi-pion correlation effect in the former data sample is greater that in the latter.  相似文献

A two-pion correlation function at small relative momentum for pion sources with transverse and longitudinal expansions in relativistic heavy ion collisions is obtained using two-pion interferometry at small relative momentum, and the relations between the real and apparent parameters of the pion source are given. The relations can be used to extract both the temperature and the transverse and longitudinal expansion velocities of pion sources and to verify the correctness of relativistic transformation T′=T\sqrt {1-v^2} of temperature in relativistic statistical mechanics and thermodynamics.  相似文献

The multi-source pion interferometry in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is presented and two-source models for hadron gas and hadron gas plus quark-gluon plasma are proposed. The models can resolve the HBT puzzle. For the same $q$ and different direction of \bar{q}, the two-pion correlation functions show characteristic oscillation behaviors, which may be used to distinguish the two-source models. Our research also showes that the multi-source pion correlations can resolve the HBT puzzle.  相似文献

The two-pion correlation functions are different for some pion source distributions in two-pion interferometry.If quark-gluon plasma of cylindrical shape is produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions, the pion mesons will emit from the surface of quark-gluon plasma of cylindrical shape and the corresponding correlation function will have a special oscillation behavior. The oscillation behavior can be used to verify the existence of quark-gluon plasma and is also a signature of the appearance of quark-gluon plasma.  相似文献

We construct a dynamical model to study the pion correlations in the 5 annihilation ofp¯ p at rest. For the resonant channels, the simplest Lorentz-invariant couplings have been used. It is found that, in addition to the Bose-Einstein correlations caused by the finite size of the source, the dynamical correlations from the channels with intermediate resonances are important for explaining the experimental two-pion correlation function. We present a relativistic quantum-mechanical treatment of opacity and refractive effects that allows reproduction of observables measured in two-pion Hanbury Brown-Twiss (HBT) interferometry and pion spectra at RHIC. The inferred emission duration is substantial. The results are consistent with the emission of pions from a system that has a restored chiral symmetry.  相似文献

A model for multi-pion production in the central region in high-energy collisions is studied which describes factorizable emission of pion pairs. A mathematical identification between the exclusive cross section for pion emission in our model (with all interference terms) and the configurational probability distribution function for a classical system of interacting molecules in equilibrium is exploited to obtain an expansion for the asymptotic single-particle inclusive distribution, the two-particle inclusive correlation function, and the exponent of s in the total cross section by means of cluster diagrams. An integral equation is exhibited for summing the terms corresponding to the cluster diagrams.A specific model is then considered, which we call “s-channel pole dominance”. In this model the amplitude is assumed to be large only when the subenergies of pairs of pions are near the mass of a low-lying two-pion resonance, and the transverse momentum of each resonance is small. The dependence of the amplitude on other variables is ignored, so that we effectively have independent emission of two-pion resonances with non-zero width. It is seen that an I = 0 or I = 1 resonance results in a positive two-particle inclusive I = 2 correlation function at small rapidity separations, as s → ∞, and that the correlation function can have an exponential “tail” in rapidity of qualitatively longer range than the resonance. A crude numerical simulation of a broad I = 0 spinless resonance is discussed, and the resulting I = 2 inclusive correlation function is seen to be quite large at small rapidity separations, and to have the same exponential “tail” as the I = 0 correlation function.  相似文献

We consider the annihilation mechanism in the antiproton momentum range 2.5 to 9.1 GeV/c. Techniques for identifying a “leading pion” are discussed. The annihilation is examined as a quasi two-body process, and the properties of the “leading pion” and the remaining multi-pion “cluster” are presented. A simple parametrization is found to reproduce satisfactorily several features of the data.  相似文献

Within a relativistic hydrodynamic framework, we use four different equations of state of nuclear matter to compare to experimental spectra from CERN/SPS experiments NA44 and NA49. Freeze-out hypersurfaces and Bose-Einstein correlation functions for identical pion pairs are discussed. We find that two-pion Bose-Einstein interferometry measures the relationship between the temperature and the energy density in the equation of state during the late hadronic stage of the fireball expansion. Using a multiphase transport model that includes both initial partonic and final hadronic interactions, we study the pion interferometry at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. We find that the two-pion correlation function is sensitive to the magnitude of the parton-scattering cross section, which controls the parton density at which the transition from the partonic to hadronic matter occurs. Also, the emission source of pions is non-Gaussian, leading to source radii that can be more than twice larger than the radius parameters extracted from a Gaussian fit to the correlation function.  相似文献

Two-pion inclusive spectra from relativistic heavy-ion collisions are related to single-particle inclusive measurements in a Lorentz-invariant formulation of the Hanbury-Brown-Twiss effect. A thermal pion source with a gaussian space-time distribution is assumed. The angular anisotropy and moments of the correlation function are computed to facilitate the determination of pion source parameters from the ratios of the two-pion to single-pion inclusive data.  相似文献

We report a particle source imaging analysis based on two-pion correlations in high multiplicity Au+Au collisions at beam energies between 2A and 8A GeV. We apply the imaging technique introduced by Brown and Danielewicz, which allows a model-independent extraction of source functions with useful accuracy out to relative pion separations of about 20 fm. The extracted source functions have Gaussian shapes. Values of source functions at zero separation are almost constant across the energy range under study. Imaging results are found to be consistent with conventional source parameters obtained from a multidimensional Hanburg-Brown-Twiss analysis.  相似文献

We investigate electroproduction of pion pairs on the nucleon in the framework of QCD factorization for hard exclusive processes. We extend previous analyses by taking the hard-scattering coefficients at next-to-leading order in αs . The dynamics of the produced pion pair is described by two-pion distribution amplitudes, for which we perform a detailed theoretical and phenomenological analysis. In particular, we obtain constraints on these quantities by comparing our results with measurements of angular observables that are sensitive to the interference between two-pion production in the isoscalar and isovector channels.  相似文献
