Disintegration of a soliton in a dispersion-managed optical communication line with random parameters 总被引:15,自引:0,他引:15
The propagation of dispersion-managed solitons in optical fiber links with a random dispersion map has been studied. Two types of randomness are considered:random dispersion magnitudes and random lengths of the spans. By numerical simulations, disintegration of a soliton propagating in such an optical communication line is shown to occur. It is observed that the stability of the soliton propagation is affected more by modulations of the dispersion magnitudes of the spans than by modulations of the span lengths. Results of numerical simulations of the soliton breakup distance confirm theoretical predictions in the averaged dynamics limit. 相似文献

A general curve soliton which is finite on a curved line and localized apart from the curve for a (2+1)-dimensional KdV-type equation is found. For the KdV-type equation, we find that the dromion solutions can be obtained not only by two perpendicular line solitons, two nonperpendicular (with one is parallel to x-axis) line solitons, but also by one line soliton and one curve soliton. Various types of multi-dromion solutions which are constituted by n straight line solitons parallel to the x axis and one curve soliton can be cast in a simple formula with two arbitrary functions. The KdV-type equation is not integrable because it cannot pass through the three nonparallel line soliton test. 相似文献

In this paper, soliton propagation in nonlinear transmission lines (NLTLs) periodically loaded with symmetric voltage dependent capacitances is studied. From the lumped element equivalent circuit of the line we have analyzed the influence of nonlinear shunt reactances on soliton propagation characteristics. It is shown that by increasing the non linearity of the C–V characteristic, a faster separation of input signal into solitons is achieved. The fact that frequency multiplication in NLTLs is governed by soliton formation makes the results of this work relevant to understand the influence of nonlinear loading devices on multiplier performance. Since a heterostructure barrier varactor (HBV)-like voltage dependent capacitance has been considered for the nonlinear devices, this study can be of interest for the design of millimeter wave frequency multipliers loaded with HBVs. 相似文献

研究了晶体损耗对屏蔽光伏空间孤子在加偏压的光伏光折变晶体中演化特性的影响.结果表明,损耗除了造成屏蔽光伏孤子光波振幅的减小外,还造成了孤子横截面的改变.对于明孤子,当入射波光强较低时,横截面随传播距离的增长而不断增大;而当入射波光强较高时,起初横截面不断压缩,而后再膨胀,并在某一传播距离上孤子横截面恢复到入射时的尺寸.对于暗孤子,不论入射光孤子光强的高低,横截面都随传播距离的增长而不断增大.虽然在传播距离足够短时,可以不考虑损耗的影响,但距离较大时,损耗将最终导致孤子崩溃.

In this paper, soliton propagation in nonlinear transmission lines (NLTLs) periodically loaded with heterostructure barrier varactors is studied. From the lumped element equivalent circuit of the line we have analyzed the influence of transmission line parameters (i.e, per-section inductance and capacitance) on soliton propagation characteristics. It is shown that by increasing these parameters, a faster separation of input signals into solitons is achieved. From the point of view of NLTL harmonic generation, this gives additional flexibility to optimize multiplier performance by appropriate circuit design. These conclusions are supported from the analysis of a frequency tripler, where device losses are included. 相似文献

Soliton propagation in a cascaded dispersion-managed optical amplifier system with zero net dispersion is examined. We present a qualitative physical explanation for the recently discovered fact that a soliton with finite energy can propagate down a fiber line with zero or normal average dispersion. We describe a specific practical system for the main properties of such a soliton, namely, the dependence of the soliton power on the pulse width at chirp-free points and the soliton average energy and width at chirp-free points as functions of the dispersion-allocation (strength of the map) parameter. 相似文献

We present an analytical and numerical investigation of the propagation of spatial solitons in a nonlinear waveguide with ramp linear refractive index profile (ramp waveguide). For the propagation of a single soliton beam in a ramp waveguide, the particle theory shows that the soliton beam follows a parabolic curve in the region where the linear refractive index increases and a straight line outside the waveguide. The acceleration of the soliton depends on the beam intensity: higher amplitude solitons experience higher acceleration. Numerical calculations using an implicit Crank–Nicolson scheme confirm the result of the particle theory. Combining these propagation properties with the theory about bound-N-soliton, we study the break up of such a bound-N-soliton in a ramp waveguide. In a ramp waveguide, a bound-N-soliton will always be splitted into N independent solitons with the higher amplitude soliton emitted first. The amplitude of the separated solitons after break up are calculated using the soliton theory as if the solitons are independent. Numerical simulations show that the results agree quite well with this theoretical prediction, indicating that the interaction during break up has only little influence. 相似文献

A way of soliton self-formation upon propagation of femtosecond light pulses through an optical fiber with a cubic nonlinearity is described with allowance for the dispersion of the nonlinear response of the medium. For soliton formation to occur, a low-frequency phase modulation of the initial pulse is necessary. Several solitons formed in this way differ in both maximal intensities and group velocities. The duration of an individual soliton may be several (up to ten) times smaller than the initial duration of the input pulse. 相似文献

A propagation of the femtosecond second-order solitons in an optical fiber is studied. We show that a generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation well describes the propagation of the second-order soliton even containing only a few optical cycles. The propagations of a 50 fs and a 10 fs second-order soliton in an optical fiber are numerically simulated. It is found that, for the case of 10 fs second-order soliton, the soliton decay is dominated by the third-order dispersion, in contrast to the case of 50 fs second-order solitons, where the soliton decay is dominated by the delayed Raman response. It is also found that the exact delayed Raman response form must be used for the propagation of the 50 fs or less than 50 fs second-order soliton. 相似文献

光折变非线性介质在外加直流电压时会引起介质内部电荷移动,而移动后的电荷又会导致空间电荷的扩散效应,从而产生非局域非线性现象。从理论上研究了具有流动和扩散非局域非线性的光折变晶体中所支持的空间光学孤子的传播行为。应用等效粒子近似方法分析了这类介质中(1 1)维空间光学孤子动力学行为,得出孤子运动"加速度"显式解。孤子的有效"加速度"决定于孤子参量和光折变非局域参量。所得的解析结果可在一定参量范围内直接用来计算孤子的传播轨迹。对孤子在光折变非局域非线性作用下的传播动力学行为做了仿真模拟,数值模拟结果与理论分析结论符合得很好。 相似文献

Coherent soliton packets generated in a passively mode-locked fiber laser are transmitted through 23km of dispersion-decreasing fiber. We observe a shift of the phase difference between solitons that is due to intrapulse Raman scattering. We attribute the stability in propagation of these trains to a trade-off between minimizing soliton-soliton interactions by reduction of the pulse width and minimizing this Raman-induced phase migration, which can force the solitons into a deleterious attractive phase relationship. We are thus able to demonstrate the propagation of 177-Gbit/s soliton packets over a distance of 123 soliton periods. 相似文献

In this paper, nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) with self-steepening term for dispersive permittivity and permeability which governs the ultrashort pulse propagation through negative-index materials (NIMs) is studied. The Lax pair is constructed for this model by employing AKNS procedure. The soliton solutions are generated with symbolic computation through Darboux transformation and the frequency regimes for their existence have been worked out. Through the graphical analysis of the soliton solutions, the propagation features of optical pulses and their interaction behaviours in NIMs are investigated. 相似文献
