Yttrium- and lanthanum-carbide cluster cations YC(n)(+) and LaC(n)(+) (n = 2, 4, and 6) are generated by laser ablation of carbonaceous material containing Y(2)O(3) or La(2)O(3). YC(2)(+), YC(4)(+), LaC(2)(+), LaC(4)(+), and LaC(6)(+) are selected to undergo gas-phase ion-molecule reactions with benzene and cyclohexane. The FTICR mass spectrometry study shows that the reactions of YC(2)(+) and LaC(2)(+) with benzene produce three main series of cluster ions. They are in the form of M(C(6)H(4))(C(6)H(6))(n)(+), M(C(8)H(4))(C(6)H(6))(n)(+), and M(C(8)H(6))(C(6)H(6))(m)(+) (M = Y and La; n = 0-3; m = 0-2). For YC(4)(+), LaC(4)(+), and LaC(6)(+), benzene addition products in the form of MC(n)(C(6)H(6))(m)(+) (M = Y and La; n = 4, 6; m = 1, 2) are observed. In the reaction with cyclohexane, all the metal-carbide cluster ions are observed to form metal-benzene complexes M(C(6)H(6))(n)(+) (M = Y and La; n= 1-3). Collision-induced-dissociation experiments were performed on the major reaction product ions, and the different levels of energy required for the fragmentation suggest that both covalent bonding and weak electrostatic interaction exist in these organometallic complexes. Several major product ions were calculated using DFT theory, and their ground-state geometries and energies were obtained.  相似文献

Two types of halogen...halide synthons are investigated on the basis of theoretical and crystallographic studies; the simple halogen...halide synthons and the charge assisted halogen...halide synthons. The former interactions were investigated theoretically (ab initio) by studying the energy of interaction of a halide anion with a halocarbon species as a function of Y...X- separation distance and the C-Y...X- angle in a series of complexes (R-Y...X-, R=methyl, phenyl, acetyl or pyridyl; Y=F, Cl, Br, or I; X-=F-, Cl-, Br-, or I-). The theoretical study of the latter interaction type was investigated in only one system, the [(4BP)Cl]2 dimer, (4BP=4-bromopyrdinium cation). Crystal structure determinations, to complement the latter theoretical calculations, were performed on 13 n-chloropyridinium and n-bromopyridinium halide salts (n=2-4). The theoretical and crystallographic studies indicate that these interactions are controlled by electrostatics and are characterized by linear C-Y...X- angles and separation distances less than the sum of van der Waals radius (rvdW) of the halogen atom and the ionic radii of the halide anion. The strength of these contacts from calculations varies from weak or absent, e.g., H3C-Cl...I-, to very strong, e.g., HCC-I...F- (energy of interaction ca. -153 kJ/mol). The strengths of these contacts are influenced by four factors: (a) the type of the halide anion; (b) the type of the halogen atom; (c) the hybridization of the ipso carbon; (d) the nature of the functional groups. The calculations also show that charge assisted halogen...halide synthons have a comparable strength to simple halogen...halide synthons. The nature of these contacts is explained on the basis of an electrostatic model.  相似文献

Gas-phase ion-molecule reactions in octafluorocyclopentene (C5F8) were studied with a pulsed electron beam mass spectrometer. When a few Torr of major gas, CH4, Ar, or N2, containing approximately 10 mTorr C5F8 was ionized by 2 keV electrons, C5F8+, C5F7+, C4F6+, C4F5+, and C3F3+ were formed as major fragment ions. The interaction between those ions and C5F8 is found to be a weak electrostatic interaction. The cation...C5F8 bonding energies are around 10 kcal/mol, which were reproduced well by (U)B3LYP/6-311+G(d) calculations. The proton affinity of C5F8 (=148.6 kcal/mol by B3LYP/6-311+G(d)) was found to be smaller than that of C2H4 (=162.8 kcal/mol). In the negative mode of operation, the intense signal of C5F8- was observed during the electron pulse. This indicates that C5F8 has a positive electron affinity (1.27 eV by (U)B3LYP/6-311+G(d)). The C5F8- ion was quickly converted to a complex C10F16-. This complex did not react further with C5F8 down to 170 K. The theoretical calculation revealed that a C5F7-F-...C5F8 interaction mode in (C5F8)2- was converted to a C5F7*...C5F9- one via fluoride-ion transfer. The F- ion was found to form a strong covalent bond with C5F8, but the interaction in F-(C5F8)- - -C5F8 is a weak electrostatic interaction due to the charge dispersal in F-(C5F8). The halide ions except F- interact with C5F8 only weakly. Thermochemical stabilities for the cluster ions I-(CH3I)n (n = 1, 2) were also determined.  相似文献

The synthesis, photophysical behavior, and anion-sensing ability of a fluorescent molecular system, N-(3-methoxy-4-oxo-2-phenyl-4H-chromen-7-yl)-benzamide (1H), designed and developed with a view to sensing fluoride ions, are reported. NMR and density functional studies on the system have been carried out to determine the nature of the interaction between 1H and X- (X = halogen atom) responsible for fluoride-induced dramatic changes in the absorption and emission properties of 1H. The color change of 1H, which can be observed by the naked eye, is found specific to fluoride ion; it is unaffected by the presence of a large excess of Cl-, Br-, and I-, thus rendering 1H as a selective fluoride ion sensor in micromolar concentration in the visible region. The changes in the fluorescence behavior of 1H, specifically, the formation of an additional long-wavelength emission band in the presence of fluoride ion, allow ratiometric fluorescence signaling of the fluoride ion as well. The results suggest that abstraction of the acidic proton of 1H by the F- leading to the formation of 1- is responsible for the spectral changes that allow signaling of the F-. Density functional calculations of the optimized geometrical parameters and charge densities of the 1H...halide complexes confirm the proton abstraction mechanism of the signaling of F-. Calculations of the transition energies of the 1H, 1-, and 1H...F- (hydrogen-bonded complex) show that only 1- is responsible for the long-wavelength absorption and emission band observed in the presence of F-.  相似文献

Cyclic hexapeptide 2, prepared from linear hexapeptide 1 of alternating d- and l-alpha-aminoxy acids, was found to adopt a C3 symmetric and bracelet-like conformation with consecutive eight-membered-ring hydrogen bonds (N-O turns) in nonpolar solvents, similar to that of valinomycin, a cyclodepsipeptide that binds cations selectively. However, 2 showed affinities for halide ions with selectivity following the order of Cl- > F- > Br-. The observed higher selectivity for Cl- (Ka = 11880 M-1) over F- (Ka = 30 M-1) in CD2Cl2 suggested that the selectivity of 2 for halide ions is mainly governed by the size complementarity rather than the hydrogen-bonding strength. Upon Cl- ion binding, the original bracelet-like conformation of 2 turned into a rather flat conformation with all six amide NHs pointing inward to form hydrogen bonds with Cl-.  相似文献

Reactions of silver cluster cations Ag(n)+ with ethylene have been studied using a reflectron time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Chemisorbed Ag(n)(C2H4)(m)+ (n = 1-3, m = 1-6) complexes were observed. For a given value of n, the abundances of Ag(n)(C2H4)(m)+ (n = 1-3, m = 1-6) species first increase and then decrease, with the maximum of the intensity distribution usually at m = 4. This maximum does not change with the ethylene concentration in the mixed gas, the stagnation pressure of the mixed gas, or the size of Ag(n) + (n = 1-3). A complementary extensive theoretical study on the structure and binding of Ag(n)(C2H4)(m)+ (n = 1-4, m = 1-4) is also reported. Preferred binding sites, binding energies, geometries, vibrational frequencies, and ionization potentials are determined using density functional theory.  相似文献

Two new reductive electrochemical (CO2 + H2O + 2e-; HCO2H + 2e-) and two new chemical methods (Al(CH3)3 + proton donor; NaO2CH) to prepare the title compound from Pd2(dppm)2Cl2 are reported. For the latter method, an intermediate species formulated as Pd2(dppm)4(O2CH)2(2+) is identified spectroscopically (1H NMR, 31P NMR, IR, and FAB-MS). Limited stability of the title compound in the presence of Cl- and Br- as counteranions is noticed and is due to sensitivity of the cluster toward nucleophilic attack of the halide ions. This result is corroborated by the rapid decomposition of these clusters in the presence of CN- to form the binuclear species Pd2(dppm)2(CN)4 and by the preparation of the stable salts [Pd4(dppm)4(H)2](X)2(X- = BF4-, PF6-, BPh4-). Upon a two-electron electrochemical reduction of this cluster to the neutral species (E1/2 = -1.42 V vs SCE in DMF) in the presence of 1 equiv of HCO2H, a highly reactive species formulated as [Pd4(dppm)4(H)3]+ is generated and characterized by 1H NMR, 31P NMR, and cyclic voltammetry. Subsequent addition of H+ (via RCO2H; R = H, CH3, CF3, C6H5) under the same reducing conditions, induces the homogeneous catalysis of H2 evolution. The turnover number is found to be 134 in 2 h, with no evidence for catalyst decomposition. This same species also exhibits a one-electron oxidation process (E1/2 = -0.61 V vs SCE in DMF) that induces the catalytical decomposition of formate (HCO2- --> CO2 + 1/2H2 + 1e-). This double catalysis from the same cluster intermediate is unprecedented.  相似文献

With synchrotron radiation, we have studied the photoionization and dissociation of 1,4-dioxane/ammonia clusters in a supersonic expansion. The observed major product ions are the 1,4-dioxane cation M(+) and protonated cluster ions M(NH(3))(n)H(+) (where M=1,4-dioxane), and the intensities of the unprotonated cluster ions M(NH(3))(n) (+) are much lower. Fully optimized geometries and energies of the neutral cluster M(NH(3))(2) and related cluster ions have been obtained using the ab initio molecular orbital method and density functional theory. The potential energy surface of the excited state of M(NH(3))(2) (+) was also calculated. With these results, the mechanisms of different photoionization-dissociation channels have been suggested. The most probable channel is electron ejection from the highest occupied molecular orbital, followed by the dissociation into M(+) and (NH(3))(2). For another main channel, after removing an electron from the second highest occupied molecular orbital, the intracluster proton transfer process takes place to form the stable unprotonated cluster ion M(NH(3))H(+)-NH(2), which usually leads to the dissociated protonated cluster ion M(NH(3))H(+) and a radical NH(2).  相似文献

采用混合密度泛函B3LYP方法, 在LANL2DZ水平上优化DMSO溶剂中邻-二(吡咯-2-甲酰胺基)亚苯(PFP)及其卤素阴离子复合物的几何构型, 从几何结构参数、电荷布居、前线轨道、结合能以及热力学参数等角度探讨复合物形成过程中主体分子的构象变化以及主客体间的超分子作用. 研究结果表明, 邻-二(吡咯-2-甲酰胺基)亚苯识别卤素阴离子是一个自发过程. 复合阴离子过程中, 两者的前线轨道发生作用, 电子容易从卤素阴离子的HOMO向主体分子的LUMO转移. 在所形成的四种复合物PFP:X(X=F, Cl, Br, I)中, 以PFP:F最稳定, 与文献报道邻-二(吡咯-2-甲酰胺基)亚苯识别卤素阴离子能力的实验结果相一致. 设计合成含多个吡咯酰胺基团、并能形成合适“杯口”大小的主体化合物, 将增强对卤素阴离子的识别能力.  相似文献

采用Oniom方法(B3LYP/LANL2DZ∶PM3)对脲基取代的二(9-冠-3)杯[4]芳烃衍生物(H)与离子对Na+X-(X=F-,Cl-,Br-)的包合作用进行了理论研究.在上述体系中存在2种包合方式:一是阴、阳离子在包合物中是分离的,阴离子与主体分子的上沿主要以N—H…X-氢键作用;二是阴、阳离子在包合物中存在明显的离子配对作用,阴离子主要以阳离子的配对作用存在.通过对包合物Na+X-/H的结构参数、自然键轨道(NBO)以及结合能分析可知,第1种包合方式更有利.研究表明脲基取代的二(9-冠-3)杯[4]芳烃衍生物可成为有效的离子对识别受体,研究结果进一步加深了杯芳烃类受体对离子对识别机理的认识,为实验上设计合成新型离子对受体提供了理论依据.  相似文献

Large coupled cluster computations utilizing the Dunning weighted correlation-consistent polarized core-valence (cc-pwCVXZ) hierarchy of basis sets have been conducted, resulting in a panoply of internally consistent geometries and atomization energies for small Li(n) and Li(n)H (n=1-4) clusters. In contrast to previous ab initio results, we predict a monotonic increase in atomization energies per atom with increasing cluster size for lithium clusters, in accordance with the historical Knudsen-effusion measurements of Wu. For hydrogenated lithium clusters, our results support previous theoretical work concerning the relatively low atomization energy per atom for Li(2)H compared to LiH and Li(3)H. The CCSD(T)/cc-pwCVQZ atomization energies for LiH, Li(2)H, Li(3)H, and the most stable isomer of Li(4)H, including zero-point energy corrections, are 55.7, 79.6, 113.0, and 130.6 kcal/mol, respectively. The latter results are not consistent with the most recent experiments of Wu.  相似文献

In ab initio calculations a finite graphitic cluster model is often used to approximate the interaction energy of a water molecule with an infinite single-layer graphitic surface (graphene). In previous studies, the graphitic cluster model is a collection of fused benzene rings terminated by hydrogen atoms. In this study, the effect of using fluorine instead of hydrogen atoms for terminating the cluster model is examined to clarify the role of the boundary. The interaction energy of a water molecule with the graphitic cluster was computed using ab initio methods at the MP2 level of theory and with the 6-31G(d = 0.25) basis set. The interaction energy of a water molecule with graphene is estimated by extrapolation of two series of increasing size graphitic cluster models (C(6n2)H(6n) and C(6n2)F(6n), n = 1-3). Two fixed orientations of water molecule are considered: (a) both hydrogen atoms of water pointing toward the cluster (mode A) and (b) both hydrogen atoms of water pointing away from the cluster (mode B). The interaction energies for water mode A are found to be -2.39 and -2.49 kcal/mol for C(6n2)H(6n) and C(6n2)F(6n) cluster models, respectively. For water mode B, the interaction energies are -2.32 and -2.44 kcal/mol for C(6n2)H(6n) and C(6n2)F(6n) cluster models, respectively.  相似文献

This paper gives two empirical correlations of formation Gibbs energies of gaseous clusters DeltaG(f)n as function of number of solvent molecules attached to the ion, n, and one correlation connecting the DeltaG(f)n for each individual cluster with the total DeltaG(o)hydr value. The experimental ratios of DeltaG(f)2/DeltaG(f)1 and DeltaG(f)3/DeltaG(f)1 for both alkali metal and halide ions are on average equal to 0.75 and 0.5, respectively. DeltaG(f)n values for n > or = 4 are correlated with n as DeltaG(f)n = [a/(n - 1)] DeltaG(f)1 + b DeltaG(f)1. For all available data on cluster energies and each individual cluster, the DeltaG(f)n's are straight-line functions of DeltaG(o)hydr. This well corresponds to another empirical rule stating that the Gibbs energies of transfer of ions between two solvents are often as well straight-line functions of DeltaG(o)(hydr) [J. Rais and T. Okada, J. Phys. Chem. A, 2000, 104, 7314]. Tentative models of the found behavior are proposed. A full data set of the gaseous cluster energies of formation based on inclusion of new, usually not used entries from the literature is provided.  相似文献

采用ab initio RHF,MP2和B3LYP方法以及LanL2DZ和SDD基组计算了四面体锌族卤素阴离子化合物(MX42-,M=Zn(Ⅱ),Cd(Ⅱ),Hg(Ⅱ);X=F-,Cl-,Br-,I-)和钛族卤化物(MX4,M=Ti(Ⅳ),Zr(Ⅳ),Hf(Ⅳ);X=F-,Cl-,Br-,I-)的几何构型和振动频率。计算结果表明,LanL2DZ基组是合适的基组,能得到合理的电荷分布,几何参数以及振动频率。在锌族卤化物的计算中发现,角弯曲振动频率与实测值相当一致,键伸缩振动频率略为偏低,这主要是由于计算的键长略为偏长所致。MP2方法计算的振动频率更接近于实测值。在钛族卤化物的计算中,三种计算方法都相当地再现了实测值,而以B3LYP方法更为满意。  相似文献

为了在分子层次上揭示相关催化反应的机理, 人们对过渡金属氧化物团簇与碳氢化合物分子反应进行了大量研究. 相比于过渡金属氧化物团簇阳离子, 阴离子对一些碳氢化合物的活性弱得多, 因此研究还很少. 在本工作中, 我们通过激光溅射产生钒氧团簇阴离子VxOy, 产生的团簇在接近热碰撞条件下与烷烃(C2H6和C4H10)以及烯烃(C2H4和C3H6) 在一个快速流动反应管中进行反应, 飞行时间质谱用来检测反应前后的团簇分布. 在VxOy与烷烃的反应中, 生成了产物V2O6H-和V4O11H-; 在与烯烃的反应中, 产生了相应的吸附产物V4O11X-(X=C2H4或C3H6). 密度泛函理论计算表明: V2O-6和V4O-11可以活化烷烃(C2H6和C4H10)的C—H键, 也可以与烯烃(C2H4和C3H6)发生3+2环化加成反应形成一个五元环结构(-V-O-C-C-O-), C—H键活化与环加成反应都需经历可以克服的反应能垒. 理论计算与实验观测结果相符合. V2O-6和V4O-11团簇都具有氧原子自由基(O·或O-)的成键特征, 活性O-物种也经常出现在钒氧催化剂表面, 因而本研究在分子水平上, 揭示了表面活性氧物种与碳氢化合物反应的机理.  相似文献
