A superfine expanded graphite (s‐EG) fiber material was investigated as an anode material for lithium‐based batteries. The fibers were prepared by decomposition of dicarbon monofluoride‐intercalated graphite. The high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) images showed the fiber thickness in range of 2–3 nm with several microns in length. Lithium storage capacity in this material was measured in lithium half cells. High lithium storage capacity of about 1000 mAh · g–1 at a rate of C/10, corresponding to Li3C6 composition was obtained. The material showed fairly good rate capability exhibiting lithium storage capabilities even at 60C. As a effect of ball milling, the s‐EG showed crystallographic ordering in the sample with reduced the lithium storage capacity corresponding to composition of LiC6. A simple mathematical relation to account for the excess lithium storage capacity in this material is put forward.  相似文献

The effect of lithium boron oxide (LBO) coating on the electrochemical performance of orthorhombic LiMnO2 (o-LiMnO2) cathode for lithium-ion batteries is investigated. o-LiMnO2 synthesized via solid state synthesis technique is modified with LBO addition. The presence of LBO is identified via Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis. o-LiMnO2 is observed to transform to a spinel-like phase during cycling which undergoes capacity fading. Studies indicate that the presence of 1–2 wt% LBO results in an improved capacity and better capacity retention with cycling. The pristine sample reveals a maximum specific capacity of 172 mAhg?1, whereas the LBO-modified samples display about 189.1 mAhg?1 in the cycling tests conducted at a rate of 50 mAg?1 in the voltage range of 2–4.5 V. After 70 cycles, the LBO-modified LiMnO2 displayed higher capacity retention of 175 mAhg?1 as compared to the pristine sample that exhibited 130 mAhg?1. By analyzing the charge–discharge behavior, it is observed that the capacity obtained from lithium insertion into the tetrahedral sites of the spinel structure is more or less constant throughout the cycling and that the bulk of the capacity loss is resulting when lithium is inserted into the octahedral sites of the spinel structure. Impedance measurement reveals a reduced charge-transfer resistance for the LBO-modified samples suggesting that the presence of LBO is countering capacity loss arising from insertion of lithium into the octahedral sites thus contributing to the overall cycling stability.  相似文献

Ion diffusion efficiency at the solid–liquid interface is an important factor for energy storage and adsorption from aqueous solution. Although K2Mn4O8 (KMO) exhibits efficient ion diffusion and ion‐exchange capacities, due to its high interlayer space of 0.70 nm, how to enhance its mass transfer performance is still an issue. Herein, novel layered KMO/reduced graphene oxide (RGO) nanocomposites are fabricated through the anchoring of KMO nanoplates on RGO with a mild solution process. The face‐to‐face structure facilitates fast transfer of lithium and lead ions; thus leading to excellent lithium storage and lead ion adsorption. The anchoring of KMO on RGO not only increases electrical conductivity of the layered nanocomposites, but also effectively prevents aggregation of KMO nanoplates. The KMO/RGO nanocomposite with an optimal RGO content exhibits a first cycle charge capacity of 739 mA h g?1, which is much higher than that of KMO (326 mA h g?1). After 100 charge–discharge cycles, it still retains a charge capacity of 664 mA h g?1. For the adsorption of lead ions, the KMO/RGO nanocomposite exhibits a capacity of 341 mg g?1, which is higher than those of KMO (305 mg g?1) and RGO (63 mg g?1) alone.  相似文献

The superior properties of nanomaterials with a special structure can provide prospects for highly efficient water splitting and lithium storage. Herein, we fabricated a series of peapodlike C@Ni2?xCoxP (x≤1) nanocomposites by an anion‐exchange pathway. The experimental results indicated that the HER activity of C@Ni2?xCoxP catalyst is strongly related to the Co/Ni ratio, and the C@NiCoP got the highest HER activity with low onset potential of ~45 mV, small Tafel slope of ~43 mV dec?1, large exchange current density of 0.21 mA cm?2, and high long‐term durability (60 h) in 0.5 m H2SO4 solutions. Equally importantly, as an anode electrode for lithium batteries, this peapodlike C@NiCoP nanocomposite gives excellent charge–discharge properties (e.g., specific capacity of 670 mAh g?1 at 0.2 A g?1 after 350 cycles, and a reversible capacity of 405 mAh g?1 at a high current rate of 10 A g?1). The outstanding performance of C@NiCoP in HER and LIBs could be attributed to the synergistic effect of the rational design of peapodlike nanostructures and the introduction of Co element.  相似文献

This review describes the current state of the studies of lithium deintercalation/intercalation processes in cathode materials based on lithium iron phosphate with olivine structure. The limiting factors of LiFePO4 charge/discharge processes, as well as the main methods for their acceleration are considered. A partial replacement of iron cations in the structure improves the electrochemical characteristics of the cathode materials, including the discharge capacity, charge/discharge rate, and, in some cases, changes the charge/discharge mechanism. The use of nanoscale phosphate LiFePO4 with the olivine structure considerably increases the charge/discharge rate of cathode materials based on it by reducing the diffusion path length. Methods for LiFePO4 surface modification are considered. Particular attention is paid to the development of composite materials with electron-conducting additives. Combining of various approaches to the modification of the material in question makes it possible to obtain materials with a discharge capacity close to the theoretical value (170 mA h g–1) at a low charge/discharge rate and to considerably increase its capacity at high charge and discharge currents.  相似文献

Metal oxides have a large storage capacity when employed as anode materials for lithium‐ion batteries (LIBs). However, they often suffer from poor capacity retention due to their low electrical conductivity and huge volume variation during the charge–discharge process. To overcome these limitations, fabrication of metal oxides/carbon hybrids with hollow structures can be expected to further improve their electrochemical properties. Herein, ZnO‐Co3O4 nanocomposites embedded in N‐doped carbon (ZnO‐Co3O4@N‐C) nanocages with hollow dodecahedral shapes have been prepared successfully by the simple carbonizing and oxidizing of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Benefiting from the advantages of the structural features, i.e. the conductive N‐doped carbon coating, the porous structure of the nanocages and the synergistic effects of different components, the as‐prepared ZnO‐Co3O4@N‐C not only avoids particle aggregation and nanostructure cracking but also facilitates the transport of ions and electrons. As a result, the resultant ZnO‐Co3O4@N‐C shows a discharge capacity of 2373 mAh g?1 at the first cycle and exhibits a retention capacity of 1305 mAh g?1 even after 300 cycles at 0.1 A g?1. In addition, a reversible capacity of 948 mAh g?1 is obtained at a current density of 2 A g?1, which delivers an excellent high‐rate cycle ability.  相似文献

Core–shell hierarchical porous carbon spheres (HPCs) were synthesized by a facile hydrothermal method and used as host to incorporate sulfur. The microstructure, morphology, and specific surface areas of the resultant samples have been systematically characterized. The results indicate that most of sulfur is well dispersed over the core area of HPCs after the impregnation of sulfur. Meanwhile, the shell of HPCs with void pores is serving as a retard against the dissolution of lithium polysulfides. This structure can enhance the transport of electron and lithium ions as well as alleviate the stress caused by volume change during the charge–discharge process. The as‐prepared HPC‐sulfur (HPC‐S) composite with 65.3 wt % sulfur delivers a high specific capacity of 1397.9 mA h g?1 at a current density of 335 mA g?1 (0.2 C) as a cathode material for lithium–sulfur (Li‐S) batteries, and the discharge capacity of the electrode could still reach 753.2 mA h g?1 at 6700 mA g?1 (4 C). Moreover, the composite electrode exhibited an excellent cycling capacity of 830.5 mA h g?1 after 200 cycles.  相似文献

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based polymer electrolytes have obtained considerable attention due to their fascinating characteristics such as appreciable ionic conductivity at ambient temperatures and mechanical stability. This study is based on the system PAN–ethylene carbonate (EC)–propylene carbonate (PC)–lithium trifluoromethanesulfonate (LiCF3SO3). The composition 15 mol% PAN–42 mol% EC–36 mol% PC–7 mol% LiCF3SO3 has shown a maximum room temperature conductivity of 1.2?×?10?3 S cm?1. Also, it was possible to make a thin, transparent film out of that composition. Cells of the form, Li/PAN–EC–PC–LiCF3SO3/polypyrrole (PPy)–alkylsulfonate (AS) were investigated using cyclic voltammetry and continuous charge–discharge tests. When cycled at low scan rates, a higher capacity could be obtained and well-defined peaks were present. The appearance of peaks elucidates the fact that redox reactions occur completely. This well proves the reason for higher capacity. The average specific capacity was about 43 Ah kg?1. Cells exhibited a charge factor close to unity during continuous charging and discharging, indicating the absence of parasitic reactions.  相似文献

Lithium-sulfur batteries have been considered as potential electrochemical energy-storage devices owing to their satisfactory theoretical energy density. Nonetheless, the inferior conversion efficiency of polysulfides in essence leads to fast capacity decay during the discharge/charge cycle. In this work, it is successfully demonstrated that the conversion efficiency of lithium polysulfides is remarkably enhanced by employing a well-distributed atomic-scale Fe-based catalyst immobilized on nitrogen-doped graphene (Fe@NG) as a coating of separator in lithium-sulfur batteries. The quantitative electrocatalytic efficiency of the conversion of lithium polysulfides is determined through cyclic voltammetry. It is also proven that the Fe-NX configuration with highly catalytic activity is quite beneficial for the conversion of lithium polysulfides. In addition, the adsorption and permeation experiments distinctly indicate that the strong anchoring effect, originated from the charge redistribution of N doping into the graphene matrix, inhibits the movement of lithium polysulfides. Thanks to these advantages, if the as-prepared Fe@NG catalyst is combined with polypropylene and applied as a separator (Fe@NG/PP) in Li-S batteries, a high initial capacity (1616 mA h g−1 at 0.1 C), excellent capacity retention (93 % at 0.2 C, 70 % at 2 C), and superb rate performance (820 mA h g−1 at 2 C) are achieved.  相似文献

In this report, a porous, electronically conductive nickel foam foil (NFF), which is rolled for smooth surface, is introduced as an interlayer placed between the sulfur electrode and the separator to suppress the loss of active material and self-discharge behavior in lithium–sulfur (Li–S) systems. The electrodes are characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and galvanostatic charge–discharge test. The cell with the rolled NFF interlayer shows superior performance in terms of capacity utilization, reversibility, and enhanced rate capability. It exhibits reversible discharge capacity of 604 mAh g?1 after 80 cycles at 0.2 C, which is much higher than that of pristine sulfur without NFF (424 mAh g?1). The improvement on electrochemical performance is attributed to the 3D architecture of nickel foam foil as lithium–sulfur batteries interlayer, which can provide a good conductive network with structural stability and the porous architecture accommodating the migrating polysulfide to reduce the shuttling phenomenon during the charge–discharge processes.  相似文献

The sodium lithium titanate with composition Na2Li2Ti6O14 has been synthesized by a sol–gel method. Thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis (TG–DTA) of the thermal decomposition process of the precursor and X-ray diffraction (XRD) data indicate the crystallization of sodium lithium titanate has occurred at about 600 °C. Electrochemical lithium insertion into Na2Li2Ti6O14 for lithium ion battery has been investigated for the first time. These results indicate the discharge and charge potential plateaus are about 1.3 V. The initial discharge capacity is much higher than the charge capacity and irreversible capacity exists in the voltage window 1–3 V. Subsequently, the discharge capacity decreases slowly, but the charge capacity increases slightly in the following cycles. After a few cycles, the specific capacity remains almost constant values and the sample exhibits the excellent retention of capacity on cycling.  相似文献

We report evidence for the electrochemical activity of transition‐metal carbodiimides versus lithium and sodium. In particular, iron carbodiimide, FeNCN, can be efficiently used as negative electrode material for alkali‐metal‐ion batteries, similar to its oxide analogue FeO. Based on 57Fe Mössbauer and infrared spectroscopy (IR) data, the electrochemical reaction mechanism can be explained by the reversible transformation of the Fe?NCN into Li/Na?NCN bonds during discharge and charge. These new electrode materials exhibit higher capacity compared to well‐established negative electrode references such as graphite or hard carbon. Contrary to its oxide analogue, iron carbodiimide does not require heavy treatments (such as nanoscale tailoring, sophisticated textures, or coating) to obtain long cycle life with current density as high as 9 A g?1 for hundreds of charge–discharge cycles. Similar to the iron compound, several other transition‐metal carbodiimides Mx(NCN)y with M=Mn, Cr, Zn can cycle successfully versus lithium and sodium. Their electrochemical activity and performance open the way to the design of a novel family of anode materials.  相似文献

Layered LiNi1/2Mn1/2O2 compound prepared by the classical coprecipitation method delivers a capacity loss upon cycling in a lithium battery, which increases upon the 5 first cycles, and then becomes less visible over the next 40 cycles. The charge–discharge polarization follows the same trend. The formation and the evolution of lithium-containing species on the grain surface of layered LiNi1/2Mn1/2O2 and the interfacial charge transfer resistance have been carefully investigated upon cycling, by coupling ex situ 7Li MAS NMR and in situ electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. An important increase in the amount of lithiated surface species is observed during the first electrochemical cycles along with an increase of the charge transfer resistance. After reaching a maximum, both integrated intensity of the NMR signal and charge transfer resistance decrease, indicating a strong correlation between these two different surface characteristics, obtained from ex situ and in situ experiments, respectively. The evolution of surface species, probed by NMR and impedance spectroscopy, follow the same kind of variation as electrochemical parameters, demonstrating a unique control by surface phenomena of the overall electrochemical behavior of an electrode material of lithium battery.  相似文献

Metal–CO2 batteries have attracted much attention owing to their high energy density and use of greenhouse CO2 waste as the energy source. However, the increasing cost of lithium and the low discharge potential of Na–CO2 batteries create obstacles for practical applications of Li/Na–CO2 batteries. Recently, earth‐abundant potassium ions have attracted considerable interest as fast ionic charge carriers for electrochemical energy storage. Herein, we report the first K–CO2 battery with a carbon‐based metal‐free electrocatalyst. The battery shows a higher theoretical discharge potential (E?=2.48 V) than that of Na–CO2 batteries (E?=2.35 V) and can operate for more than 250 cycles (1500 h) with a cutoff capacity of 300 mA h g?1. Combined DFT calculations and experimental observations revealed a reaction mechanism involving the reversible formation and decomposition of P121/c1‐type K2CO3 at the efficient carbon‐based catalyst.  相似文献

Lithium‐rich layered oxides are promising cathode materials for lithium‐ion batteries and exhibit a high reversible capacity exceeding 250 mAh g−1. However, voltage fade is the major problem that needs to be overcome before they can find practical applications. Here, Li1.2Mn0.54Ni0.13Co0.13O2 (LLMO) oxides are subjected to nanoscale LiFePO4 (LFP) surface modification. The resulting materials combine the advantages of both bulk doping and surface coating as the LLMO crystal structure is stabilized through cationic doping, and the LLMO cathode materials are protected from corrosion induced by organic electrolytes. An LLMO cathode modified with 5 wt % LFP (LLMO–LFP5) demonstrated suppressed voltage fade and a discharge capacity of 282.8 mAh g−1 at 0.1 C with a capacity retention of 98.1 % after 120 cycles. Moreover, the nanoscale LFP layers incorporated into the LLMO surfaces can effectively maintain the lithium‐ion and charge transport channels, and the LLMO–LFP5 cathode demonstrated an excellent rate capacity.  相似文献

All-solid-state thin film batteries based on sputtered pyrite electrodes, a lithium phosphorus oxynitride electrolyte and a lithium anode were prepared and characterized. The successive reduction of both S22  and Fe2 + species led to an impressive volumetric discharge capacity, five times higher than the one for LiCoO2. Excellent reversibility and capacity retention were obtained during the first and the subsequent 800 charge–discharge cycles. A continuous cycling in the low voltage domain was found to be detrimental to the reversibility of the conversion reaction, suggesting a progressive evolution of the phase distribution inside the electrode. The initial capacity was easily recovered after few full oxidation cycles.  相似文献

Graphite is a redox‐amphoteric intercalation host and thus capable to incorporate various types of cations and anions between its planar graphene sheets to form so‐called donor‐type or acceptor‐type graphite intercalation compounds (GICs) by electrochemical intercalation at specific potentials. While the LiCx/Cx donor‐type redox couple is the major active compound for state‐of‐the‐art negative electrodes in lithium‐ion batteries, acceptor‐type GICs were proposed for positive electrodes in the “dual‐ion” and “dual‐graphite” cell, another type of electrochemical energy storage system. In this contribution, we analyze the electrochemical intercalation of different anions, such as bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide or hexafluorophosphate, into graphitic carbons by means of in situ X‐ray diffraction (XRD). In general, the characterization of battery electrode materials by in situ XRD is an important technique to study structural and compositional changes upon insertion and de‐insertion processes during charge/discharge cycling. We discuss anion (X) and cation (M+) intercalation/de‐intercalation into graphites on a comparative basis with respect to the Mx+Cn and Cn+Xn stoichiometry, discharge capacity, the intercalant gallery height/gallery expansion and the M–M or X–X in‐plane distances.  相似文献

A large‐scale hierarchical assembly route is reported for the formation of SnO2 on the nanoscale that contains rigid and robust spheres with irregular channels for rapid access of Li ions into the hierarchically structured interiors. Large volume changes during the process of Li insertion and extraction are accommodated by the SnO2 nanoflake spheres’ internal porosity. The hierarchical SnO2 nanoflake spheres exhibit good lithium storage properties with high capacity and long‐lasting performance when used as lithium‐ion anodes. A reversible capacity of 517 mA h g?1, still greater than the theoretical capacity of graphite (372 mA h g?1), after 50 charge–discharge cycles is attained. Meanwhile, the synthesis process is simple, inexpensive, safe, and broadly applicable, providing new avenues for the rational engineering of electrode materials with enhanced conductivity and power.  相似文献
