Mixed problems for a nonlinear ultraparabolic equation are considered in domains bounded and unbounded with respect to the space variables. Conditions for the existence and uniqueness of solutions of these problems are established and some estimates for these solutions are obtained.  相似文献

This paper studies the existence, uniqueness and iterative approximations of solutions, bounded solutions and continuous bounded solutions for a functional equation arising in dynamic programming of multistage decision processes by using fixed point theorems and the iterative methods in complete metric spaces and Banach spaces, respectively. We study the structure of optimal solutions for a class of constrained, second order variational problems on bounded intervals. We show that, for intervals of length greater than some positive constant, the optimal solutions are bounded inC 1 by a bound independent of the length of the interval. Furthermore, for sufficiently large intervals, the ‘mass’ and ‘energy’ of optimal solutions are almost uniformly distributed.  相似文献

We consider the asymptotic behavior of the bounded solutions of a nonlinear Volterra integrodifferential equation with a positive definite convolution kernel. Our main result states that (under appropriate assumptions) the asymptotic spectra of the solutions are contained in the set where the real part of the Fourier transform of the kernel vanishes. We also give a new asymptotic stability theorem, and present a new proof of a known result on the asymptotic behavior of the bounded solutions of a nonlinear, nondifferentiated Volterra equation.  相似文献

Bounded solutions of the Emden-Fowler equation in a semi-cylinder are considered. For small solutions the asymptotic representations at infinity are derived. It is shown that there are large solutions whose behavior at infinity is different. These solutions are constructed when some inequalities between the dimension of the cylinder and the homogeneity of the nonlinear term are fulfilled. If these inequalities are not satisfied then it is proved, for the Dirichlet problem, that all bounded solutions tend to zero and have the same asymptotics as small solutions.  相似文献

This paper studies the existence of bounded solutions of a forced non-linear differential equation of arbitrary order. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such solutions are obtained. These results are inspired by classical results on the periodic problem, both in the resonant and non-resonant cases.

We are concerned with a scalar conservation law with a source term. This equation is proposed to describe the qualitative behavior of waves for a general system in resonance with the source term by T.P. Liu. In addition to this, the scalar conservation law is used in various areas such as fluid dynamics, traffic problems etc.In the present paper, we prove the global existence and stability of entropy solutions to the Cauchy problem. The difficult point is to obtain the bounded estimate of solutions. To solve it, we introduce some functions as the lower and upper bounds. Therefore, our bounded estimate depends on the space variable. This idea comes from the generalized invariant region theory for the compressible Euler equation. The method is also applicable to other nonlinear problems involving similar difficulties. Finally, we use the vanishing viscosity method to construct approximate solutions and derive the convergence by the compensated compactness.  相似文献

Summary Existence theorems for nonlinear Neumann problems with inhomogeneous boundary conditions are established. It is then investigated under which conditions the solutions are uniformly bounded. Uniqueness results for positive solutions are given and the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of the corresponding parabolic equation is discussed. The main tools are fixed point theorems and the method of upper and lower solutions.  相似文献

The bounded traveling wave solutions of a generalized Camassa-Holm-Novikov equation with $p=2$ and $p=3$ are derived via the dynamical system approach. The singular wave solutions including peakons and cuspons are obtained by the bifurcation analysis of the corresponding singular dynamical system and the orbits intersecting with or approaching the singular lines. The results show that the generalized Camassa-Holm-Novikov equation with $p=2$ and $p=3$ both admit smooth solitary wave, smooth periodic wave solutions, solitary peakons, periodic peakons, solitary cuspons and periodic cuspons as well. It is worth pointing out that the Novikov equation has no bounded traveling wave solutions with negative wave speed, but has a family of new periodic cuspons which are distinguished with the normal periodic cuspons for their discontinuous first-order derivatives at both maximum and minimum.  相似文献

In this work, we propose a finite-difference scheme to approximate the solutions of a generalization of the classical, one-dimensional, Newell-Whitehead-Segel equation from fluid mechanics, which is an equation for which the existence of bounded solutions is a well-known fact. The numerical method preserves the skew-symmetry of the problem of interest, and it is a non-standard technique which consistently approximates the solutions of the equation under investigation, with a consistency of the first order in time and of the second order in space. We prove that, under relatively flexible conditions on the computational parameters of the method, our technique yields bounded numerical approximations for every set of bounded initial estimates. Some simulations are provided in order to verify the validity of our analytical results. In turn, the validity of the computational constraints under which the method guarantees the preservation of the boundedness of the approximations, is successfully tested by means of computational experiments in some particular instances.  相似文献

We are interested in the third-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) which are related to the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation. So-called steady solutions of the Kuramoto-Sivashinsky equation are known to admit several types; for example, bounded global solutions or periodic solutions. We show that, in addition to these, there exist solutions which blow up on bounded intervals. Moreover, for certain classes of these ODEs, the nonexistence of nontrivial bounded entire solutions is exhibited.  相似文献
