We investigate the topological structures of Galois covers of surfaces of minimal degree (i.e., degree n) in CP n + 1 $\mathbb {CP}^{n+1}$ . We prove that for n 5 $n\ge 5$ , the Galois covers of any surfaces of minimal degree are simply-connected surfaces of general type.  相似文献

We study rational curves on general Fano hypersurfaces in projective space, mostly by degenerating the hypersurface along with its ambient projective space to reducible varieties. We prove results on existence of low-degree rational curves with balanced normal bundle, and reprove some results on irreducibility of spaces of rational curves of low degree.  相似文献

Let γ:[0,1]→2[0,1] be a continuous curve such that γ(0)=(0,0), γ(1)=(1,1), and γ(t)∈2(0,1) for all t∈(0,1). We prove that, for each nN, there exists a sequence of points Ai, 0?i?n+1, on γ such that A0=(0,0), An+1=(1,1), and the sequences and , 0?i?n, are positive and the same up to order, where π1, π2 are projections on the axes.  相似文献

We describe a method that sometimes determines all the torsion points lying on a curve of genus two defined over a number field and embedded in its Jacobian using a Weierstrass point as base point. We then apply this to the examples , , and .

Let k be a field of characteristic not equal to 2. For n≥1, let denote the nth Galois Cohomology group. The classical Tate's lemma asserts that if k is a number field then given finitely many elements , there exist such that αi=(a)∪(bi), where for any λ∈k∗, (λ) denotes the image of k∗ in . In this paper we prove a higher dimensional analogue of the Tate's lemma.  相似文献

Let be the projective plane blown up at generic points. Denote by the strict transform of a generic straight line on and the exceptional divisors of the blown-up points on respectively. We consider the variety of all irreducible curves in with nodes as the only singularities and give asymptotically nearly optimal sufficient conditions for its smoothness, irreducibility and non-emptiness. Moreover, we extend our conditions for the smoothness and the irreducibility to families of reducible curves. For we give the complete answer concerning the existence of nodal curves in .

Let K be a number field with ring of integers OK. Suppose a finite group G acts numerically tamely on a regular scheme X over OK. One can then define a de Rham invariant class in the class group Cl(OK[G]), which is a refined Euler characteristic of the de Rham complex of X. Our results concern the classification of numerically tame actions and the de Rham invariant classes. We first describe how all Galois étale G-covers of a K-variety may be built up from finite Galois extensions of K and from geometric covers. When X is a curve of positive genus, we show that a given étale action of G on X extends to a numerically tame action on a regular model if and only if this is possible on the minimal model. Finally, we characterize the classes in Cl(OK[G]) which are realizable as the de Rham invariants for minimal models of elliptic curves when G has prime order.  相似文献

Let E/K be an elliptic curve defined over a number field, and let p be a prime number such that E(K) has full p-torsion. We show that the order of the p-part of the Shafarevich-Tate group of E/L is unbounded as L varies over degree p extensions of K. The proof uses O’Neil's period-index obstruction. We deduce the result from the fact that, under the same hypotheses, there exist infinitely many elements of the Weil-Châtelet group of E/K of period p and index p2.  相似文献

In this paper, some earlier results by Fleischner [H. Fleischner, Bipartizing matchings and Sabidussi’s compatibility conjecture, Discrete Math. 244 (2002) 77-82] about edge-disjoint bipartizing matchings of a cubic graph with a dominating circuit are generalized for graphs without the assumption of the existence of a dominating circuit and 3-regularity. A pair of integer flows (D,f1) and (D,f2) is an (h,k)-flow parity-pair-cover of G if the union of their supports covers the entire graph; f1 is an h-flow and f2 is a k-flow, and . Then G admits a nowhere-zero 6-flow if and only if G admits a (4,3)-flow parity-pair-cover; and G admits a nowhere-zero 5-flow if G admits a (3,3)-flow parity-pair-cover. A pair of integer flows (D,f1) and (D,f2) is an (h,k)-flow even-disjoint-pair-cover of G if the union of their supports covers the entire graph, f1 is an h-flow and f2 is a k-flow, and for each {i,j}={1,2}. Then G has a 5-cycle double cover if G admits a (4,4)-flow even-disjoint-pair-cover; and G admits a (3,3)-flow parity-pair-cover if G has an orientable 5-cycle double cover.  相似文献

In this note, we study the fluctuations in the number of points on smooth projective plane curves over a finite field Fq as q is fixed and the genus varies. More precisely, we show that these fluctuations are predicted by a natural probabilistic model, in which the points of the projective plane impose independent conditions on the curve. The main tool we use is a geometric sieving process introduced by Poonen (2004) [8].  相似文献

Cycles of covers
We initially consider an example of Flynn and Redmond, which gives an infinite family of curves to which Chabauty’s Theorem is not applicable, and which even resist solution by one application of a certain bielliptic covering technique. In this article, we shall consider a general context, of which this family is a special case, and in this general situation we shall prove that repeated application of bielliptic covers always results in a sequence of genus 2 curves which cycle after a finite number of repetitions. We shall also give an example which is resistant to repeated applications of the technique. E. V. Flynn thanks the International Center for Transdisciplinary Studies at Jacobs University Bremen for its hospitality during July 2007, and thanks EPSRC for support: grant number EP/F060661/1.  相似文献

For q = p m and m ≥ 1, we construct systematic authentication codes over finite field using Galois rings. We give corrections of the construction of [2]. We generalize corresponding systematic authentication codes of [6] in various ways.  相似文献

If X is a smooth curve such that the minimal degree of its plane models is not too small compared with its genus, then X has been known to be a double cover of another smooth curve Y under some mild condition on the genera. However there are no results yet for the minimal degrees of plane models of double covers except some special cases. In this paper, we give upper and lower bounds for the minimal degree of plane models of the double cover X in terms of the gonality of the base curve Y and the genera of X and Y. In particular, the upper bound equals to the lower bound in case Y is hyperelliptic. We give an example of a double cover which has plane models of degree equal to the lower bound.  相似文献

Let E be an elliptic curve over Q and ? be an odd prime. Also, let K be a number field and assume that E has a semi-stable reduction at ?. Under certain assumptions, we prove the vanishing of the Galois cohomology group H1(Gal(K(E[?i])/K),E[?i]) for all i?1. When K is an imaginary quadratic field with the usual Heegner assumption, this vanishing theorem enables us to extend a result of Kolyvagin, which finds a bound for the order of the ?-primary part of Shafarevich-Tate groups of E over K. This bound is consistent with the prediction of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture.  相似文献

Let K be an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>0. The aim of the article is to give a classification of simple parametrized plane curve singularities over K. The idea is to give explicitly a class of families of singularities which are not simple such that almost all singularities deform to one of those and show that remaining singularities are simple.  相似文献
