It is well known that the numerical solution of stiff stochastic ordinary differential equations leads to a step size reduction when explicit methods are used. This has led to a plethora of implicit or semi-implicit methods with a wide variety of stability properties. However, for stiff stochastic problems in which the eigenvalues of a drift term lie near the negative real axis, such as those arising from stochastic partial differential equations, explicit methods with extended stability regions can be very effective. In the present paper our aim is to derive explicit Runge–Kutta schemes for non-commutative Stratonovich stochastic differential equations, which are of weak order two and which have large stability regions. This will be achieved by the use of a technique in Chebyshev methods for ordinary differential equations.  相似文献

We consider a system of ordinary differential equations describing a slow-fast dynamical system, in particular, a predator-prey system that is highly susceptible to local time variations. This model exhibits coexistence of predatorprey dynamics in the case when the prey population grows much faster than that of the predators with a quite diversified time response. For particular parametric values their interactions show a stable relaxation oscillation in the positive octant. Such characteristics are di?cult to mimic using conventional time integrators that are used to solve systems of ordinary di?erential equations. To resolve this, we design and analyze multirate time integration methods to solve a mathematical model for a slow-fast dynamical system. Proposed methods are based on using extrapolation multirate discretisation algorithms. Through these methods, we reduce the integration time by integrating the slow sub-system with a larger step length than the fast sub-system. This allows us to efficiently solve multiscale ordinary differential equations. Besides theoretical results, we provide thorough numerical experiments which confirm that these multirate schemes outperform corresponding single-rate schemes substantially both in terms of computational work and CPU times.  相似文献

Numerical stability of both explicit and implicit Runge-Kutta methods for solving ordinary differential equations with an additive noise term is studied. The concept of numerical stability of deterministic schemes is extended to the stochastic case, and a stochastic analogue of Dahlquist'sA-stability is proposed. It is shown that the discretization of the drift term alone controls theA-stability of the whole scheme. The quantitative effect of implicitness uponA-stability is also investigated, and stability regions are given for a family of implicit Runge-Kutta methods with optimal order of convergence.This author was partially supported by the Italian Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche.  相似文献

The class of linearly-implicit parallel two-step peer W-methods has been designed recently for efficient numerical solutions of stiff ordinary differential equations. Those schemes allow for parallelism across the method, that is an important feature for implementation on modern computational devices. Most importantly, all stage values of those methods possess the same properties in terms of stability and accuracy of numerical integration. This property results in the fact that no order reduction occurs when they are applied to very stiff problems. In this paper, we develop parallel local and global error estimation schemes that allow the numerical solution to be computed for a user-supplied accuracy requirement in automatic mode. An algorithm of such global error control and other technical particulars are also discussed here. Numerical examples confirm efficiency of the presented error estimation and stepsize control algorithm on a number of test problems with known exact solutions, including nonstiff, stiff, very stiff and large-scale differential equations. A comparison with the well-known stiff solver RODAS is also shown.  相似文献

In a previous paper [3], some numerical methods for stochastic ordinary differential equations (SODEs), based on Linear Multistep Formulae (LMF), were proposed. Nevertheless, a formal proof for the convergence of such methods is still lacking. We here provide such a proof, based on a matrix formulation of the discrete problem, which allows some more insight in the structure of LMF-type methods for SODEs.  相似文献

We discuss both pathwise and mean-square convergence of several approximation schemes to stochastic differential equations. We then estimate the corresponding speeds of convergence, the error being either the mean square error or the error induced by the approximation on the value of the expectation of a functional of the solution. Usually the straightforward generalization of explicit Runge-Kutta methods for ordinary differential equations to half-explicit methods for differential-algebraic systems of index 2 results in methods of orderq≤2. The construction of higher order methods is simplified substantially by a slight modification of the method combined with an improved strategy for the computation of the algebraic solution components. We give order conditions up to orderq=5 and study the convergence of these methods. Based on the fifth order method of Dormand and Prince the fifth order half-explicit Runge-Kutta method HEDOP5 is constructed that requires the solution of 6 systems of nonlinear equations per step of integration.  相似文献

A new explicit stochastic Runge–Kutta scheme of weak order 2 is proposed under a commutativity condition, which is derivative-free and which attains order 4 for ordinary differential equations. The weak order conditions are derived by utilizing multi-colored rooted tree analysis and a solution is found in a transparent way. We study mean-square consistency, stability in the mean-square sense and mean-square convergence of drift-implicit linear multi-step methods with variable step-size for the approximation of the solution of Itô stochastic differential equations. We obtain conditions that depend on the step-size ratios and that ensure mean-square convergence for the special case of adaptive two-step-Maruyama schemes. Further, in the case of small noise we develop a local error analysis with respect to the hh–εε approach and we construct some stochastic linear multi-step methods with variable step-size that have order 2 behaviour if the noise is small enough.  相似文献

Summary The numerical analysis of multibody system dynamics is based on the equations of motion as differential-algebraic systems. A thorough analysis of the linearized equations and their solution theory leads to an equivalent system of ordinary differential equations which gives deeper insight into the derivation of integration schemes and into the stabilization approaches. The main tool is the Drazin inverse, a generalized matrix inverse, which preserves the eigenvalues. The results are illustrated by a realistic truck model. Finally, the approach is extended to the nonlinear index 2 formulation.  相似文献

This paper presents a class of parallel numerical integration methods for stiff systems of ordinary differential equations which can be partitioned into loosely coupled sub-systems. The formulas are called decoupled backward differentiation formulas, and they are derived from the classical formulas by restricting the implicit part to the diagnonal sub-system. With one or several sub-systems allocated to each processor, information only has to be exchanged after completion of a step but not during the solution of the nonlinear algebraic equations.The main emphasis is on the formula of order 1, the decoupled implicit Euler formula. It is proved that this formula even for a wide range of multirate formulations has an asymptotic global error expansion permitting extrapolation. Besides, sufficient conditions for absolute stability are presented.  相似文献

A class ofimplicit Runge-Kutta schemes for stochastic differential equations affected bymultiplicative Gaussian white noise is shown to be optimal with respect to global order of convergence in quadratic mean. A test equation is proposed in order to investigate the stability of discretization methods for systems of this kind. Herestability is intended in a truly probabilistic sense, as opposed to the recently introduced extension of A-stability to the stochastic context, given for systems with additive noise. A convergence theorem for the continuous weak approximation of the solution of stochastic differential equations (SDEs) by general one-step methods is proved, which is an extension of a theorem due to Milstein. As an application, uniform second order conditions for a class of continuous stochastic Runge–Kutta methods containing the continuous extension of the second order stochastic Runge–Kutta scheme due to Platen are derived. Further, some coefficients for optimal continuous schemes applicable to Itô SDEs with respect to a multi–dimensional Wiener process are presented.  相似文献

Discretisation methods to simulate stochastic differential equations belong to the main tools in mathematical finance. For Itô processes, there exist several Euler- or Runge–Kutta-like methods which are analogues of well-known approximation schemes in the nonstochastic case. In the multidimensional case, there appear several difficulties, caused by the mixed second order derivatives. These mixed terms (or more precisely their differences) correspond to special random variables called Lévy stochastic area terms. In the present paper, we compare three approximation methods for such random variables with respect to computational complexity and the so-called effective dimension.  相似文献

In this paper, the variational iteration method and the Adomian decomposition method are implemented to give approximate solutions for linear and nonlinear systems of differential equations of fractional order. The two methods in applied mathematics can be used as alternative methods for obtaining analytic and approximate solutions for different types of differential equations. In these schemes, the solution takes the form of a convergent series with easily computable components. This paper presents a numerical comparison between the two methods for solving systems of fractional differential equations. Numerical results show that the two approaches are easy to implement and accurate when applied to differential equations of fractional order.  相似文献

For ordinary differential systems, the study of A-stability for a numerical method reduces to the scalar case by means of a transformation that uncouples the linear test system as well as the difference system provided by the method. For stochastic differential equations (SDEs), mean-square stability (MS-stability) has been successfully proposed as the generalization of A-stability, and numerical MS-stability has been analyzed for one-dimensional equations. However, unlike the deterministic case, the extension of this analysis to multi-dimensional systems is not straightforward. In this paper we give necessary and sufficient conditions for the MS-stability of multi-dimensional systems with one Wiener noise. The criterion presented does not depend on any norm. Based on the Routh–Hurwitz theorem, we offer a particular criterion of MS-stability for two-dimensional systems in terms of their coefficients. In addition, a counterpart criterion of MS-stability is given for numerical schemes applied to multi-dimensional systems. The MS-stability behavior of a stochastic numerical method is determined by the comparison of its stability region with the stability region of the system. As an application, the numerical MS-stability of θθ-methods applied to bi-dimensional systems is investigated.  相似文献

We describe a construction of continuous extensions to a new representation of two-step Runge–Kutta methods for ordinary differential equations. This representation makes possible the accurate and reliable estimation of local discretization error, facilitates the efficient implementation of these methods in variable stepsize environment, and adapts readily to the numerical solution of a class of delay differential equations. A number of numerical tests carried out on the obtained methods of order 3 with quadratic interpolants show their efficiency and robust performance which allow them to compete with the state-of-the-art dde23 code from Matlab.  相似文献
