利用超材料吸波体对材料参数的电磁响应, 可将其应用于传感. 本文设计了一种工字形单元结构的超材料吸波体, 基于频域算法对其在太赫兹频段的传感特性进行数值模拟, 研究了待测样品折射率、厚度及电介质隔层厚度对超材料吸波体传感器的频率灵敏度、振幅灵敏度及品质因数的影响. 研究结果表明:当待测样品厚度为40 μm时, 折射率频率灵敏度可达到153.17 GHz/RIU, 折射率振幅灵敏度可达到41.37%/RIU; 待测样品折射率一定时, 厚度频率灵敏度随其厚度的增大而线性减小; 随着待测样品厚度的增加, RFOM呈增大趋势, 但增大幅度在逐渐减小; TFOM随待测样品厚度的增加而减小.  相似文献

This Letter studies a two-dimensional, membrane-based acoustic metamaterial with a near-zero refractive index. It yields a frequency-dependent effective density that is near-zero at a narrow frequency band centered around its first resonant frequency. This effective density results in its near-zero refractive index. Numerical simulations are shown which demonstrate that the phase in this metamaterial undergoes small changes, and the metamaterial functions as an angular filter such that only a wave with a near-zero incident angle can transmit. Its ability to tailor acoustic phase pattern is also discussed in this Letter.  相似文献

A high-gain rectangular microstrip patch antenna which is covered by a single layer metamaterial (MTM) superstrate with the near zero refractive index is proposed. The refraction of the metamaterial at frequency 3.51 GHz–3.57 GHz is very close to zero. The metamaterial with the near zero refractive index is placed 42 mm above an ordinary rectangular microstrip patch antenna. The effectively zero refractive index behavior of metamaterial superstrate can gather the wave emitted from the microstrip patch antenna and collimate it toward the normal direction of the antenna. The finite element method (FEM) and the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method are used to study the characteristics of this antenna. The results of the two methods indicate that the realized gain of the proposed antenna is increased by more than 6 dB, and the antenna has a flatness high gain in the predicted frequency band, where the proposed MTM is designed to have a near zero index of refraction. Therefore, the high-gain antenna is effectively enhanced based on the near-zero-refractive-index metamaterial.  相似文献

We propose a model of a tunable laser based on a tunnel-coupled waveguide semiconductormetamaterial structure. The waveguide semiconductor channel has a positive refractive index and a high Kerr nonlinearity coefficient. In the frequency range under investigation, the channel formed by the magnetoactive metamaterial is characterized by a negative refractive index. Computer simulation is used for investigating the peculiarities of generation of microwave radiation under pumping due to modulated instability in the semiconductor channel and a distributed feedback. The generation frequency is controlled using the dependence of the refractive index of the metamaterial on the external magnetic field.  相似文献

在1维光子晶体中引入色散负折射特异介质,分析了其介电常数和磁导率在微波区(1~10 GHz)与频率的关系。分别对以色散负折射介质为缺陷的正折射率介质光子晶体及以正折射率介质为缺陷的正负折射率介质光子晶体进行了数值仿真,得出了均匀平面电磁波在正入射和斜入射时的透射谱。结果表明:在介电常数和磁导率均为负值的不同禁带中,分别出现了单、双缺陷模。利用透射谱的这一特点,可实现单、双通道滤波。  相似文献

A design of the two-beam hybrid microwave interferometer for measuring refractive indices of metamaterials is described. It is based on the branching of radiation using a waveguide directional coupler. Radiations of the interferometer waveguide arms are summed and the phase disbalance of the interferometer arms is counted on the waveguide measuring line. The frequency dispersion of the negative refractive indices of the metamaterial samples with a variable distance between its constituent plates is experimentally investigated. A possibility of controlling the refractive index of a metamaterial is demonstrated.  相似文献

We introduce a metamaterial design composed of square plasmonic loops loaded by Kerr nonlinearities that combines enhanced nonlinear response with strong artificial magnetism, ensuring a negative refractive index with bistable and self-tunable response. We verify with full-wave simulations that positive-to-negative switching of refractive index may be obtained with moderate loss. The design of a finite-size metamaterial prism is also presented, supporting at the same frequency, and for the same light intensity, positive or inverted Snell refraction as a function of its previous excitation history.  相似文献

A low absorptivity broadband negative refractive index metamaterial with a multi-gap split-ring and metallic cross (MSMC) structure is proposed and investigated numerically and experimentally in the microwave frequency range. The effective media parameters were retrieved from the numerical and experimental results, which clearly show that there exists a very wide frequency band where the permittivity and permeability are negative. The influence of the structure parameters on the magnetic response and the cut-off frequency of the negative permittivity are studied in detail. This metamaterial would have potential application in designing broadband microwave devices.  相似文献

We investigate a one-dimensional acoustic metamaterial with a refractive index of near zero(RINZ) using an array of very thin elastic membranes located along a narrow waveguide pipe. The characteristics of the effective density, refractive index, and phase velocity of the metamaterial indicate that, at the resonant frequency fm, the metamaterial has zero mass density and a phase transmission that is nearly uniform. We present a mechanism for dramatic acoustic energy squeezing and anomalous acoustic transmission by connecting the metamaterial to a normal waveguide with a larger cross-section. It is shown that at a specific frequency f_1, transmission enhancement and energy squeezing are achieved despite the strong geometrical mismatch between the metamaterial and the normal waveguide. Moreover, to confirm the energy transfer properties, the acoustic pressure distribution, acoustic wave reflection coefficient, and energy transmission coefficient are also calculated. These results prove that the RINZ metamaterial provides a new design method for acoustic energy squeezing,super coupling, wave front transformation, and acoustic wave filtering.  相似文献

The engineering in artificial inclusions of metamaterials has immense potential to explore in the field of electromagnetic wave manipulation that created enormous opportunities in the design of millimetre or sub-millimetres structures. In this research paper, Parabolic Split Ring Resonator (PSRR) based MNZ (Mu-Near-Zero) metamaterial with a wider refractive index is introduced for WiFi/WiMax/Wireless/ISM band applications and printing on Rogers RT-5880 lossy substrate with a copper-based metallic structure at 5.8 GHz within the microwave frequency region. The resonant frequency, negative permittivity, near-zero permeability, and negative refractive index are between 5.5-6.3 GHz. This proposed metamaterial structure is analysed with array structures, different substrate material, different orientations, and split gaps.  相似文献

单负(仅介电常数或仅磁导率小于零)超材料以及由导线-开口谐振环组成的双负超材料本构参数的提取通常采用传统的S参数方法. 由于磁电耦合超材料存在交叉极化现象, 仅用介电常数和磁导率两个本构参数无法准确描述其电磁特性. 传统的S参数提取方法一开始就假定超材料仅具有介电常数和磁导率两个本构参数, 所以采用该方法提取磁电耦合超材料本构参数存在明显局限性. 将磁电耦合超材料中的电元件和磁元件分别等效为面电流和面磁流, 通过推导平均电通密度和磁通密度与外加电磁场的相互关系, 从理论上获取了磁电耦合超材料2×2 的本构参数矩阵, 确定了磁电耦合超材料这四个本构参数与磁元件的磁导率、电元件的介电常数、空间色散项和耦合系数之间的关系解析公式, 进而获得了折射率理论计算公式. 利用该折射率公式对折射率提取值进行了非线性拟合, 发现提取值和理论值之间的误差很小, 这个结果很好地验证了所给出的本构矩阵解析式和折射率公式的正确性. 根据拟合结果, 获得了磁电耦合超材料本构矩阵中四个电磁参数的频率响应曲线. 所提出的磁电耦合超材料本构矩阵参数获取方法将为研究磁电超材料中电元件和磁元件的耦合现象提供重要的理论参考.  相似文献

A new concept to realize negative refractive index in non-resonance spectrum using chiral metamaterial is proposed.A low-index metamaterial is added to diminish the effective refractive index of the combined structure.Simulation and material parameter retrieval procedures are carried out to determine material performances.Results show evidence of negative refractive index and strong optical activity in the new chiral metamaterial.  相似文献

This paper presents a negative refractive index tunable metamaterial based on F-Shape structure which is capable of achieving dual-band negative permeability and permittivity, thus dual-band negative refractive index. An electromagnetic simulation was performed and effective media parameters were retrieved. Numerical investigations show clear existence of two frequency bands in which permeability and permittivity both are negative. The two negative refractive index bandwidths are from 23.8 GHz to 24.1 GHz and from 28.3 GHz to 34.9 GHz, respectively. The geometry of the structure is simple so it can easily be fabricated. The proposed structure can be used in multiband and broad band devices, as the band range in second negative refractive index region is 7 GHz, for potential applications instead of using complex geometric structures and easily tuned by varying the separation between the horizontal wires.  相似文献

A finite element solver is used to design a metamaterial structure with large and stable Raman scattering enhancement. The metamaterial consists of an array of tapered nanowells etched into a metal/dielectric multilayer stack. The plasmonic activity as a function of the number of layers and sidewall angle of the nanowell is investigated. As the nanowell side wall angle is increased, the tops of the nanowells are drawn closer together, greatly increasing the local electric field intensity. The taper is designed such that the patterned layers at the bottom of the nanowell would have a negative refractive index if isolated from the stack, and patterned layers at the top of the stack would have a positive refractive index if isolated from the stack. Simulations predict that coupled layers at the bottom of the tapered nanowell, exhibiting a negative refractive index, experience a blue shift in local resonant frequency as the well diameter is increased or the period is decreased. The upper layers, with positive refractive index, exhibit a red shift as the well diameter is increased or the period is decreased. These opposing responses stabilize the resonant frequency with respect to variations in diameter and periodicity commonly encountered with nanofabrication techniques.  相似文献

We investigate the properties of an open Fabry-Perot microcavity containing a layer of metamaterial with a negative refractive index. Numerical simulation of this cavity is performed using an original program package based on the FDTD scheme, with allowance for the frequency dispersion of the media and the UPML absorbing boundary conditions. We demonstrate that waveguide eigenmodes with arbitrary profiles exist in such a cavity and the metamaterial lowers diffraction losses considerably.  相似文献

We report on the effect of dielectric substrate on the resonance shift of metallic metamaterials operating in the terahertz frequency region. The resonance frequencies for various metamaterials obtained by time-domain spectroscopy agree well with calculations based on the finite-difference time-domain method. The dependencies of the resonance frequency to substrate index are studied, and are systematically determined by introducing an effective substrate index. The relative contributions of the substrate index for various metamaterials are obtained by fitting the numerically obtained effective refractive indices as a function of substrate index, which is found to be ∼0.63 regardless of the metamaterial geometry.  相似文献

Silicon carbide particles exhibit both electric and magnetic optical resonances, allowing unexplored dielectric metamaterial designs. Experimental extinction spectra and Mie theory calculations of single microscale rod-shaped particles reveal three observable midinfrared resonant modes. Two of the modes are degenerate, with a frequency that can be tuned according to a resonance condition derived within the Letter. The existence of both electric and magnetic resonances may enable a novel negative refractive index metamaterial design.  相似文献

基于麦克斯韦旋度方程, 将磁电超材料板中的电元件和磁元件分别等效为面电流和面磁流, 通过计算这些周期性面电流和面磁流在某个磁电超材料板上产生的总电场和总磁场, 获得了关于面磁流密度和面电流密度的两个方程, 进而推导出了周期性磁电超材料折射率与磁元件的磁导率、 电元件的介电常数和空间色散项之间关系的解析公式. 与传统的折射率计算公式不同, 该解析公式充分考虑到了空间色散以及磁电超材料的电元件和磁元件的相互作用. 折射率理论曲线和基于仿真实验数据的提取值曲线能很好地符合, 这说明文中推导的折射率公式能够正确地描述磁电超材料的负折射特性. 本文的结果将为分析电磁元件之间的相互作用以及设计负折射率符合一定要求的磁电超材料提供重要的理论参考. 关键词: 磁电超材料 周期性结构 负折射率  相似文献

In this paper we experimentally and numerically study the left-handed behavior in a biplanar metamaterial operating at microwave frequency. The metamaterial consists of ϕ-shaped metallic patterns on both sides of a dielectric spacer. The origin of negative refractive index is elucidated by performing the effective medium analysis. Additionally, the dependence of the left-handed transmission on geometric parameters, such as the periodicities, the shapes of metallic slabs and continuous wires, and the impact of spacer separation, is examined.  相似文献
