We report the detailed results of magnetization and magnetoresistance measurements in the Ru doped layered manganite system La1.2Sr1.8Mn2−xRuxO7 (x=0, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0). High-resolution measurements of magnetization and magnetoresistance were carried out as functions of temperature, magnetic field and time. We find evidence for the existence of competing ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions resulting in the formation of a frustrated spin-glass-like state at low temperatures. The time dependent magnetization follows the relation very well. We find that Ru doping enhances the coercive field and drives the system towards a magnetically mixed phase at low temperatures. Large negative magnetoresistance values are observed in all samples and at low temperatures the magnetoresistance varies as the square root of the applied magnetic field.  相似文献

Magnetoresistance (MR) and magnetization (dc and ac) measurements have been carried out on the manganites, (La0.7−2xEux)(Ca0.3Srx)MnO3 (0.05≤x≤0.15), in the temperature range of 5-320 K. At 5 K, an unusually large MR of almost 98% is observed in the x=0.15 sample, nearly up to fields of 4-5 T. This large high-field MR occurs in the metallic region, far below the insulator-metal transition temperature, and does not vary linearly with applied field. The unusual magnetoresistance is explained in the light of various possibilities such as phase segregation, cluster spin-glass behavior, etc.  相似文献

A comprehensive study of the effect of Fe doping on CaMnO3 is carried out by means of experiments on the structural, transport conduction, and magnetic properties of CaMn1−xFexO3 (0≤x≤0.35). With a sol-gel process for sample preparation, Fe is substituted for Mn up to x=0.35. This substitution substantially brings out the lattice expansion and gradually suppresses the antiferromagnetism. For x=0.08 and 0.10 in particular, the magnetization curves with a field-cooled mode under the field of 1 kOe behave as those of a ferrimagnetic-like system and present low-temperature negative magnetization. For x≥0.15, the negative magnetization phenomenon disappears, and a ferromagnetic component coexists with an antiferromagnetic one, but the antiferromagnetic interaction still dominates in these compounds. Electrical transport measurements show insulating behavior for all compositions. Fe doping, even at a level as low as x=0.02, can cause a marked resistivity increase in the temperature range studied. Further increasing the Fe content causes the resistivity to gradually decrease due to the increasing carrier presence.  相似文献

The magnetic and transport properties of La1−xCaxMnO3 (0≤x<0.4) have been systematically studied. The magnetoresistance (MR) maximum appears at x=0.2-0.25 and the temperature dependence of MR for x>0.25 shows a much broader profile than that of samples for x=0.2-0.25. Based on a scenario in which there is a short-range charge ordering (CO) state coexisting in the ferromagnetic state matrix for x>0.25, and the least or even no short-range CO state exists in samples for x=0.2-0.25, the above observations can be understood.  相似文献

We report on the structural, frequency dependent ac susceptibility, dc magnetization and magnetoresistance (MR) measurements on polycrystalline samples of La0.9Ca0.1Mn1−yCryO3 (y=0, 0.1 and 0.2) prepared by sol-gel technique. For y=0, a paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition is observed at Tc=136 K. Both for y=0.1 and 0.2, Tc increases from 136 to 180 K. For y=0, the imaginary part of the ac susceptibility shows a broad transition at Tf<Tc which does not depend very much on the frequency. However, for y=0.1 and 0.2, the frequency dependence resembles that of a spin glass. Though all the three samples show a semi-conducting behavior between 300 and 5 K, a negative MR is observed corresponding to Tc and Tf. The value of MR decreases for the Cr substituted samples.  相似文献

The magnetism and transport properties of the samples LaMn1−xTixO3 (0≤x≤0.2) were investigated. All samples show a rhombohedral structure () at room temperature. The sample with x=0 undergoes the paramagnetic-ferromagnetic (PM-FM) transition accompanied by an insulator-metal (I-M) transition due to the oxygen excess. The doped samples show ferromagnetism and cluster behavior at low temperatures. Though no I-M transition associated with the PM-FM transition appears, the magnetoresistance (MR) effect was observed especially at low temperatures under the applied fields of 0.5 T. Due to the fact that the oxygen content in the Ti-doped samples is nearly stochiometry (3.01) and the Hall resistivity at room temperature is negative, the ferromagnetism in LaMn1−xTixO3 (0.05≤x≤0.2) is believed to be consistent with the Mn2+-O-Mn3+ double exchange (DE) mechanism. These results suggest that DE can be obtained by direct Mn-site doping.  相似文献

Si1−xMnx diluted magnetic semiconductor (DMS) bulks were formed by using an implantation and annealing method. Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and double-crystal rocking X-ray diffraction (DCRXD) measurements showed that the grown materials were Si1−xMnx crystalline bulks. Hall effect measurements showed that annealed Si1−xMnx bulks were p-type semiconductors. The magnetization curve as a function of the magnetic field clearly showed that the ferromagnetism in the annealed Si1−xMnx bulks originated from the interaction between interstitial and substitutional Mn+ ions, which was confirmed by the DCRXD measurements. The magnetization curve as a function of the temperature showed that the ferromagnetic transition temperature was approximately 75 K. The present results can help to improve understanding of the formation mechanism of ferromagnetism in Si1−xMnx DMS bulks.  相似文献

The electrical and magnetic transport properties of the La0.67−xEuxCa0.33MnO3 system exhibit lowering of insulator to metal and paramagnetic to ferromagnetic transition temperature (TC) with the increase of Eu concentration in addition to possessing CMR property. The temperature variation of electrical resistivity and magnetic susceptibility for x=0.21 is found to have two distinct regions in the paramagnetic state for T>TP; one with the localization of lattice polaron in the high-temperature region (T>1.5TP) satisfying the dynamics of variable range hopping (VRH) model and the other being the combination of the spin and lattice polarons in the region TP<T<1.5TP. The resistivity variation with temperature and magnetic field, the cusp in the resistivity peak and CMR phenomenon are interpreted in terms of coexistence of spin and lattice small polarons in the intermediate region (TP<T<1.5TP). The spin polaron energy in the La0.46Eu0.21Ca0.33MnO3 system is estimated to be 106.73±0.90 meV and this energy decreases with the increase of external magnetic field. The MR ratio is maximal with a value of 99.99% around the transition temperature and this maximum persists till T→0 K, at the field of 8 T.  相似文献

The perovskite solid solutions of the type La2xSr2−2xCo2xRu2−2xO6 with 0.25≤x≤0.75 have been investigated for their structural, magnetic and transport properties. All the compounds crystallize in double perovskite structure. The magnetization measurements indicate a complex magnetic ground state with strong competition between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions. Resistivity of the compounds is in confirmation with hopping conduction behaviour though differences are noted especially for x=0.4 and 0.6. Most importantly, low field (50 Oe) magnetization measurements display negative magnetization during the zero field cooled cycle. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements indicate the presence of Co2+/Co3+ and Ru4+/Ru5+ redox couples in all compositions except x=0.5. Presence of magnetic ions like Ru4+ and Co3+ gives rise to additional ferromagnetic (Ru-rich) and antiferromagnetic sublattices and also explains the observed negative magnetization.  相似文献

In view of recent controversies on above room-temperature ferromagnetism (RTFM) in transition-metal-doped ZnO, the present paper aims to shed some light on the origin of ferromagnetism by investigating annealing effects on structure and magnetism for polycrystalline Zn1−xMnxO powder samples prepared by solid-state reaction method and annealed in air at different temperatures. Magnetic measurements indicate that the samples are ferromagnetic at room temperature (RTFM). Room temperature ferromagnetism has been observed in the sample annealed at a low temperature of 500 °C with a saturated magnetization (Ms) of 0.159 emu/g and a coercive force of 89 Oe. A reduction in RTFM is clearly observed in the sample annealed at 600 °C. Furthermore, the saturation magnetic moment decreases with an increase in grain size, suggesting that ferromagnetism is due to defects and/or oxygen vacancy confined to the surface of the grains. The experimental results indicate that the ferromagnetism observed in Zn1−xMnxO samples is intrinsic rather than associated with secondary phases.  相似文献

A series of SmCoAsO1−xFx (with x=0, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.2) samples have been prepared by solid state reactions. X-ray powder diffraction proved that all samples can be indexed as a tetragonal ZrCuSiAs-type structure. A clear shrinkage of the lattice constants a and c with increasing F content indicated that F has been doped into the lattice. The magnetic and transport properties of the samples have been investigated. Parent SmCoAsO compound exhibited complicated magnetism including antiferromagnetism, ferromagnetism, and ferrimagnetism. For the fluorine doped samples, the antiferromagnetic Néel temperatures were almost independent of the F content and metamagnetic transitions were observed below antiferromagnetic Néel temperatures. With increasing F content, high temperature (below 142 K) ferrimagnetic state gradually changed to ferromagnetic state. In the resistivity result, metallic conduction in the region of 2-300 K and Fermi liquid behavior at low temperatures were shown in all samples. Transport properties at applied magnetic fields showed anomalies at low temperatures.  相似文献

The Hall resistivity and magnetization have been investigated in the ferromagnetic state of the bilayered manganite La2−2xSr1+2xMn2O7 (x=0.36). The Hall resistivity shows an increase in both the ordinary and anomalous Hall coefficients at low temperatures below 50 K, a region in which experimental evidence for the spin glass state has been found in a low magnetic field of 1 mT. The origin of the anomalous behavior of the Hall resistivity relevant to magnetic states may lie in the intrinsic microscopic inhomogeneity in a quasi-two-dimensional electron system.  相似文献

The magnetic behavior of Ni2+xMn1−xAl alloys around the stoichiometric 2:1:1 composition was investigated with several experimental techniques. The results of low-temperature magnetization measurements indicate that a competition mechanism between ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism is expected in off-stoichiometric alloys. Although the Curie temperature is strongly dependent on the composition, the saturation magnetization has an unsystematic variation for deviations from the stoichiometric Ni2MnAl alloy. A reentrant-spin-glass behavior is observed below 50 K.  相似文献

Oxidative (δ>0) nonstoichiometry in the perovskite ‘LaMnO3+δ’ has been known to be manifested not with O interstitials but rather with cation vacancies of equal amounts at the two cation sites, La and Mn, i.e. La1−xMn1−yO3 with x=y. Here, we report the fabrication of samples with record-high cation-vacancy concentrations (x>0.12 or δ>0.4) by means of a variety of high-pressure oxygenation techniques. Linear (negative) dependence of the cell volume on x was observed within the whole x range investigated, down to 56.9 Å3 (per formula unit) for a sample oxygenated at 5 GPa and 1100 °C using Ag2O2 as an excess oxygen source. With increasing degree of cation deficiency in La1−xMn1−xO3, the ferromagnetic transition temperature was found to follow a bell shape with respect to x exhibiting a maximum of ∼250 K about x≈0.1. For moderately oxygenated samples large magnetoresistance effect was evidenced.  相似文献

Fe2O3 hematite (alpha) nanoparticles suspended in the liquid phase of the liquid crystal 4,4-azoxyanlsole (PAA) are cooled below the freezing temperature (397 K) in a 4000 G dc magnetic field. The in field solidification locks the direction of maximum magnetization of the particles parallel to the direction of the applied dc magnetic field removing the effects of dynamical fluctuations of the nanoparticles on the magnetic properties allowing a study of the intrinsic magnetic properties of the nanoparticles as well as the anisotropic behavior of the ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) signal. Freezing in PAA allows temperature-dependent measurements to be made at much higher temperature than previous measurements. The field position, line width and intensity of the FMR signal as a function of temperature as well as the magnetization show anomalies in the vicinity of 200 K indicative of a magnetic transition, likely the previously observed Morin transition shifted to lower temperature due to the small particle size. Weak ferromagnetism is observed below Tc in contrast to the bulk material where it is antiferromagnetic below Tc. The Raman spectrum above and below 200 K shows no evidence of a change in lattice symmetry associated with the magnetic transition.  相似文献

We observe the negative shift of the magnetic hysteresis loop at 5 K, while the sample is cooled in external magnetic field in case of 30% of Fe substitution in LaMnO3. The negative shift and training effect of the hysteresis loops indicate the phenomenon of exchange bias. The cooling field dependence of the negative shift increases with the cooling field below 7.0 kOe and then, decreases with further increase of cooling field. The temperature dependence of the negative shift of the hysteresis loops exhibits that the negative shift decreases sharply with increasing temperature and vanishes above 20 K. Temperature dependence of dc magnetization and ac susceptibility measurements show a sharp peak (Tp) at 51 K and a shoulder (Tf) around 20 K. The relaxation of magnetization shows the ferromagnetic and glassy magnetic components in the relaxation process, which is in consistent with the cluster-glass compound.  相似文献

To understand the nature of grain boundaries in polycrystalline materials, magneto-transport and ferromagnetic resonance measurement have been performed in polycrystalline La0.6Pb0.4MnO3 (LPMO) thin films prepared by pulsed laser deposition. Films are found to undergo a semiconductor to metal transition at 230 K and re-enter into the semiconducting state below 130 K. Microwave absorption measurements carried out as function of applied field show two components of resonant absorption signal. First component is in accordance with ferromagnetic transition of grains at Curie temperature and the second component shows antiferromagnetic transition of grain boundaries at 160 K. An additional non-resonant absorption signal centered at zero field has also been observed that supports transition from conducting to insulating grain boundaries at ∼160 K. Further, temperature dependence of resistance in semiconducting state at low temperatures is in accordance with coulomb blockade model indicating insulating nature of AFM grain boundaries.  相似文献

The structural and magnetic properties of Pr0.75Na0.25MnO3 have been investigated experimentally. At room temperature, the compound shows paramagnetic characteristic. Along with decreasing temperature, a peak appears in the magnetization versus temperature curve around 220 K. To clarify whether this peak is associated with the ordering arrangement of Mn3+ and Mn4+ ions, electron diffraction experiments were carried out below and above 220 K respectively. Only basic Brag diffraction spots can be observed at high temperatures, however, superlattice diffraction appears below 220 K. This provides direct evidence for the existence of charge ordering in Pr0.75Na0.25MnO3. We find the Mn3+ and Mn4+ cations form zigzag chains in a-c plane by analyzing the diffraction patterns. Combining with the magnetization measurements and the results of electron spin resonance, we confirm the antiferromagnetic phase and ferromagnetic component coexist in Pr0.75Na0.25MnO3 below 120 K.  相似文献

In this paper we report the study of the perovskites La0.7Ca0.3Mn0.5Co0.5O3 and La0.8Sr0.2Mn0.5Co0.5O3 by neutron powder diffraction at various temperatures and magnetization measurements in zero applied field and at low cooling regimes. The replacement of half Mn by Co in La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 and La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 destroys their long-range ferromagnetism exhibiting a cluster glass ferromagnetic order similar to the one observed in many cobaltites.  相似文献

Polycrystalline Sn1−xMnxO2 (0≤x≤0.05) diluted magnetic semiconductors were prepared by solid-state reaction method and their structural and magnetic properties had been investigated systematically. The three Mn-doped samples (x=0.01, 0.03, 0.05) undergo paramagnetic to ferromagnetic phase transitions upon cooling, but their Curie temperatures are far lower than room temperature. The magnetization cannot be attributed to any identified impurity phase. It is also found that the magnetization increases with increasing Mn doping, while the ratio of the Mn ions contributing to ferromagnetic ordering to the total Mn ions decreases.  相似文献
