Let r(n) denote the number of integral ideals of norm n in a cubic extension K of the rationals, and define and Δ(x)=S(x)−αx where α is the residue of the Dedekind zeta function ζ(s,K) at 1. It is shown that the abscissa of convergence of

We study (i-)locally singular hyperplanes in a thick dual polar space Δ of rank n. If Δ is not of type DQ(2n,K), then we will show that every locally singular hyperplane of Δ is singular. We will describe a new type of hyperplane in DQ(8,K) and show that every locally singular hyperplane of DQ(8,K) is either singular, the extension of a hexagonal hyperplane in a hex or of the new type.  相似文献

Let K be a field of characteristic 0. Let be a reduced finite set of points, not all contained in a hyperplane. Let be the maximum number of points of Γ contained in any hyperplane, and let . If IR=K[x0,…,xn] is the ideal of Γ, then in Tohaˇneanu (2009) [12] it is shown that for n=2,3, d(Γ) has a lower bound expressed in terms of some shift in the graded minimal free resolution of R/I. In these notes we show that this behavior holds true in general, for any n≥2: d(Γ)≥An, where An=min{ain} and ⊕iR(−ai) is the last module in the graded minimal free resolution of R/I. In the end we also prove that this bound is sharp for a whole class of examples due to Juan Migliore (2010) [10].  相似文献

On a compact Riemannian manifold (Vn,g)(n>2), when the conformal Laplacian L is invertible, we show, under necessary hypotheses, that if the Green function GL of L is of the form (here r=d(P,Q)) GL(P,Q)=1/(n−2)ωn−1rn−2+H(P,Q) with H(P,Q) bounded on V, then

The notion of simple compact quantum group is introduced. As non-trivial (noncommutative and noncocommutative) examples, the following families of compact quantum groups are shown to be simple: (a) The universal quantum groups Bu(Q) for QGL(n,C) satisfying , n?2; (b) The quantum automorphism groups Aaut(B,τ) of finite-dimensional C-algebras B endowed with the canonical trace τ when dim(B)?4, including the quantum permutation groups Aaut(Xn) on n points (n?4); (c) The standard deformations Kq of simple compact Lie groups K and their twists , as well as Rieffel's deformation KJ.  相似文献

Let F be a closed non-orientable surface. We classify all finite order invariants of immersions of F into R3, with values in any Abelian group. We show they are all functions of a universal order 1 invariant which we construct as TPQ, where T is a Z valued invariant reflecting the number of triple points of the immersion, and P,Q are Z/2 valued invariants characterized by the property that for any regularly homotopic immersions , P(i)−P(j)∈Z/2 (respectively, Q(i)−Q(j)∈Z/2) is the number mod 2 of tangency points (respectively, quadruple points) occurring in any generic regular homotopy between i and j.For immersion and diffeomorphism such that i and ih are regularly homotopic we show:
P(ih)−P(i)=Q(ih)−Q(i)=(rank(h−Id)+ε(deth∗∗))mod2  相似文献

Let a field K be an algebraic extension of a subfield k of characteristic not 2, n an integer, a non-degenerate isotropic form in n variables over K with coefficients in k. We study subgroups of the orthogonal group On(K,Q) that contain the derived subgroup Ωn(k,Q) of the group On(k,Q).  相似文献

We study a q-analog Qr(n,q) of the partition algebra Pr(n). The algebra Qr(n,q) arises as the centralizer algebra of the finite general linear group GLn(Fq) acting on a vector space coming from r-iterations of Harish-Chandra restriction and induction. For n?2r, we show that Qr(n,q) has the same semisimple matrix structure as Pr(n). We compute the dimension to be a q-polynomial that specializes as dn,r(1)=nr and dn,r(0)=B(r), the rth Bell number. Our method is to write dn,r(q) as a sum over integer sequences which are q-weighted by inverse major index. We then find a basis of indexed by n-restricted q-set partitions of {1,…,r} and show that there are dn,r(q) of these.  相似文献

Let Δ(T) and μ(T) denote the maximum degree and the Laplacian spectral radius of a tree T, respectively. Let Tn be the set of trees on n vertices, and . In this paper, we determine the two trees which take the first two largest values of μ(T) of the trees T in when . And among the trees in , the tree which alone minimizes the Laplacian spectral radius is characterized. We also prove that for two trees T1 and T2 in , if Δ(T1)>Δ(T2) and , then μ(T1)>μ(T2). As an application of these results, we give a general approach about extending the known ordering of trees in Tn by their Laplacian spectral radii.  相似文献

By some extremely simple arguments, we point out the following:

If n is the least positive kth power non-residue modulo a positive integer m, then the greatest number of consecutive kth power residues mod m is smaller than m/n.

Let OK be the ring of algebraic integers in a quadratic field with d∈{−1,−2,−3,−7,−11}. Then, for any irreducible πOK and positive integer k not relatively prime to , there exists a kth power non-residue ωOK modulo π such that .

Let KE, KE be convex cones residing in finite-dimensional real vector spaces. An element y in the tensor product EE is KK-separable if it can be represented as finite sum , where xlK and for all l. Let S(n), H(n), Q(n) be the spaces of n×n real symmetric, complex Hermitian and quaternionic Hermitian matrices, respectively. Let further S+(n), H+(n), Q+(n) be the cones of positive semidefinite matrices in these spaces. If a matrix AH(mn)=H(m)⊗H(n) is H+(m)⊗H+(n)-separable, then it fulfills also the so-called PPT condition, i.e. it is positive semidefinite and has a positive semidefinite partial transpose. The same implication holds for matrices in the spaces S(m)⊗S(n), H(m)⊗S(n), and for m?2 in the space Q(m)⊗S(n). We provide a complete enumeration of all pairs (n,m) when the inverse implication is also true for each of the above spaces, i.e. the PPT condition is sufficient for separability. We also show that a matrix in Q(n)⊗S(2) is Q+(n)⊗S+(2)- separable if and only if it is positive semidefinite.  相似文献

In this paper we give a detailed analysis of the interaction between homological self-correspondences of the general fibre Y/k(t) of the Lefschetz fibration of a Lefschetz pencil on a smooth projective variety X/k, and the Leray filtration of ρ. We derive the result that, if the standard conjecture B(Y) holds, then the operator is algebraic, where is defined as the inverse of L on LPn−1(X) and 0 on LkPj(X) for (1,n−1)≠(k,j); in the course of our proof we see that, under the above assumption, the Künneth projectors for in−1,n,n+1 are algebraic.  相似文献

In this paper, we first determine that the first four trees of order n?9 with the smallest algebraic connectivity are Pn,Qn,Wn and Zn with α(Pn)<α(Qn)<α(Wn)<α(Zn)<α(T), where T is any tree of order n other than Pn, Qn, Wn, and Zn. Then we consider the effect on the Laplacian eigenvalues of connected graphs by suitably adding edges. By using these results and methods, we finally determine that the first six connected graphs of order n?9 with the smallest algebraic connectivity are and , with , where G is any connected graph of order n other than Pn, Qn, , Wn, and .  相似文献

We establish that for n?3 and p>1, the elliptic equation Δu+K(x)up=0 in Rn possesses a continuum of positive entire solutions with logarithmic decay at ∞, provided that a locally Hölder continuous function K?0 in Rn?{0}, satisfies K(x)=O(σ|x|) at x=0 for some σ>−2, and 2|x|K(x)=c+O([log|x|]θ) near ∞ for some constants c>0 and θ>1. The continuum contains at least countably many solutions among which any two do not intersect. This is an affirmative answer to an open question raised in [S. Bae, T.K. Chang, On a class of semilinear elliptic equations in Rn, J. Differential Equations 185 (2002) 225-250]. The crucial observation is that in the radial case of K(r)=K(|x|), two fundamental weights, and , appear in analyzing the asymptotic behavior of solutions.  相似文献

We continue Part I of this paper on polyharmonic boundary value problems (−Δ)mu=f(u) on , , with Dirichlet boundary conditions. Here Ω is a bounded or unbounded conformally contractible domain as defined in Part I. The uniqueness principle proved in Part I is applied to show the following theorems: if f(s)=λs+|s|p−1s, λ?0, with a supercritical p>(n+2m)/(n−2m) we extend the well-known non-existence result of Pucci and Serrin (Indiana Univ. Math. J. 35 (1986) 681-703) for bounded star-shaped domains to the wider class of bounded conformally contractible domains. We give two examples of domains in this class which are not star-shaped. In the case where 1<p<(n+2m)/(n−2m) is subcritical we give lower bounds for the L-norm of non-trivial solutions. For certain unbounded conformally contractible domains, 1<p<(n+2m)/(n−2m) subcritical and λ?0 we show that the only smooth solution in H2m−1(Ω) is u≡0. Finally, on a bounded conformally contractible domain uniqueness of non-trivial solutions for f(s)=λ(1+|s|p−1s), p>(n+2m)/(n−2m), supercritical and small λ>0 is proved. Solutions are critical points of a functional on a suitable space X. The theorems are proved by finding one-parameter groups of transformations on X which strictly reduce the values of . Then the uniqueness principle of Part I can be applied.  相似文献

We obtain the rate of growth of the largest eigenvalues and Euclidean condition numbers of the Hankel matrices for a general class of even exponential weights W2=exp(−2Q) on an interval I. As particular examples, we discuss Q(x)=α|x| on I=R, and Q(x)=(d2x2)α on I=[−d,d].  相似文献
