Zusammenfassung Zur Untersuchung des dielektrischen Verlustes im Anschlußbereich vom Mikrowellengebiet zum Infrarot wurde ein Meßplatz für 75 GHz aufgebaut. Der Temperaturverlauf des tg von Polymeren von verschiedenem Kristallanteil und unterschiedlich polarem Charakter wurde zwischen 4 °K und 300 °K bestimmt. Die Absorptionstemperaturkurven bestätigten weitgehend ein theoretisches Modell, das die Absorption über Ein- und Mehrphononenprozesse erklärt.

Summary For investigations in the range between microwaves and far infrared an apparatus was constructed. tg as function of temperature for polymer samples of varying degrees of crystallization and different polar nature was evaluated between 4 °K and 300 °K. The curves: absorption versus temperature confirm the theoretical model by which the absorption is explained as a consequence of one- as well as multi-phonon-processes.

The changes in the element content of blood serum samples due to drying and ashing procedures were investigated for those trace elements which could be determined by instrumental neutron activation analysis after long-time irradiation (Ag, Co, Cr, Cs, Fe, Rb, Sb, Sc, Se, and Zn). For some elements lower concentrations were found after oven-drying at 90° C and after low temperature ashing than after freeze-drying. In the case of selenium, which is known to form several volatile compounds, no differences could be detected between the freeze-dried, oven-dried and ashed samples.

The structures of the new products are established by chemical and spectroscopic methods.

Der Gegenionen-Effekt bei der durch Perchlorsäure initiierten Polymerisation von Styrol

The effect of various counter-ions has been investigated in the cationic polymerisation of styrene in 1,2-dichloroethane at different temperatures (238 K, 253 K). The soluble silver salts of the corresponding acids HBF₄, HClO₄, HPF₆, HAsF₆, and HSbF₆ were added to the reaction medium before initiation by perchlorid acid. Monomer consumption is seen to be incomplete under these circumstances. Initial polymerisation rates and the final degree of monomer conversion rise with decreasing nucleophilicity of the counter-ions.A kinetic scheme is proposed which is able to describe the course of polymerisation and gives the approximate values of the rate constants for propagation, termination and chain transfer reactions, respectively. The information obtained from GPC-measurements on the polymeric products supports the view that chain propagation takes place by at least two different forms of active species, the ratio of which is strongly determined by the nature of the added silver salt.

Zusammenfassung Bei der Reaktion von Bariummetall mit elementarem Bor bildet sich in Gegenwart von Wasserstoff zunächst Bariumhydrid (BaH₂). Im zweiten Reaktionsschritt diffundiert Bor in BaH₂ ein, wobei die Umsetzung zu Bariumhexaborid (BaB₆) durch die --Umwandlung des BaH₂ begünstigt wird. Im Gegensatz zu Lanthanhexaborid zeichnet sich BaB₆ durch einen weiten Homogenitätsbereich aus.

The reaction mechanism of the formation of barium hexaboride from the elements under hydrogen

In the reaction of metallic barium with elementary boron in a hydrogen atmosphere, barium hydride (BaH₂) is formed initially. In a second step, boron diffuses into BaH₂, whereby the reaction to form barium hexaboride is favoured by the to transition of the BaH₂. In contrast to lanthanum hexaboride, BaB₆ shows a wide homogeneity range.

Unsicherheiten bei der Abscheidung von Schwebstaub an Filtern

Summary Different samples of airborne particulate matter collected successively by highly effective aspirators were analysed for Al, Si, S, K, Ca and Fe by XRF. The results show that there is not only a distinct alteration of the content during short intervals of time, but also a remarkable change in the quantitation of the particular elements in the dust composition. By synchronous aspiration in a distance of 1 m it was possible to show that the local distribution is also different. In the experiments to be reported there are differences greater then 10% in respect of particular elements. In comparison with this, the decomposition of the dust during the aspiration is not significant. But it has to be taken into consideration if only parts of the filter disk are used for analysis.

Der Mechanismus der Addition von Nucleophilen an Alkinderivate mit Push-pull-Gruppen

The mechanism of the addition of nucleophiles to alkyne-derivatives 1 having both push- and pull-groups yielding Michael-adducts is investigated. The rate of the second-orderreaction increases (a) with increasing nucleophilic character of the amine and alcohol respectively, (b) with increasing electrophilic character of the alkyne-derivatives 1 , and (c) with increasing solvent polarity. These results support as rate-determining step an attack of the nucleophile at C(3) of the alkyne-derivatives.
