A series of novel soluble poly(amide-imide)s were prepared from the diimide-dicarboxylic acid, 2,2-bis[N-(4-carboxyphenyl)-phthalimidyl]hexafluoropropane, with various diamines by the direct polycondensation in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone containing CaCl2 using triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. All the polymers were obtained in quantitative yields with inherent viscosities of 0.78–1.63 dL g−1. The polymers were amorphous and readily soluble in aprotic polar solvents such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone, N,N-dimethylacetamide, N,N-dimethylformamide, and dimethyl sulfoxide as well as in less polar solvents such as pyridine and γ-butyrolactone, and also in tetrahydrofuran. The polymer films had tensile strength of 84–129 MPa, an elongation at break range of 6–22%, and a tensile modulus range of 2.0–2.7 GPa. The glass transition temperatures of the polymers were determined by DSC method and they were in the range of 240–282°C. These polymers were fairly stable up to a temperature around or above 400°C, and lose 10% weight in the range of 450–514°C and 440–506°C in nitrogen and air, respectively. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 1, 4-Bis(4-aminophenoxy)-2-tert-butylbenzene was synthesized and used as a monomer to prepare a series of polyamides by the direct polycondensation with various aromatic dicarboxylic acids in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone using triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. All the polymers were obtained in quantitative yields with inherent viscosities of 0.75–1.75 dL g−1. All the polyamides showed amorphous nature and most of them were soluble in polar solvents. Polyamides derived from 4, 4'-sulfonyldibenzoic acid and 4, 4'-hexafluoroisopropylidenedibenzoic acid were even soluble in common organic solvent such as THF. All polyamide films could be obtained by casting from their DMAc or NMP solutions. The polyamide films had a tensile strength range of 35–84 MPa, an elongation range at break of 3–7%, and a tensile modulus range of 1.2–2.5 GPa. These polyamides had glass transition temperatures between 203–268°C and 10% mass loss temperatures were recorded in the range of 456–472°C in nitrogen and 453–470°C in air atmosphere.  相似文献

New poly(amide–imide)s were prepared from a diimide–dicarboxylic acid, 1,4-bis(4-trimellitimidophenoxy)-2-tert-butylbenzene ( BTTB ), with various diamines by the direct polycondensation in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP) using triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. The new diimide–dicarboxylic acid BTTB containing an ether linkage and tert-butyl substituent was synthesized by the condensation reaction of 1,4-bis(4-aminophenoxy)-2-tert-butylbenzene with trimellitic anhydride. All the polymers were obtained in quantitative yields with inherent viscosities of 0.62–1.06 dL g−1. The polymers were amorphous, and most of them were readily soluble in aprotic polar solvents such as NMP, N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc), and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), as well as in less polar solvents such as dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), m-cresol, pyridine, and γ-butyrolactone, and also even in tetrahydrofuran. The glass transition temperatures of the polymers were determined by DSC method, and they were in the range of 238–279°C. These polymers were stable up to 408–449°C in air and 451–483°C in nitrogen and lose 10% weight in the range of 479–525°C in air and 480–528°C in nitrogen atmosphere. In the present work the complexation process between UO2 2+ cation and the macrocyclic ligand, dibenzo-18-crown-6 (DB18C6) was studied in ethylacetate–dimethylformamide (EtOAc/DMF), ethylacetate–acetonitrile (EtOAc/AN), and ethylacetate–tetrahydrofuran (EtOAc/THF) and ethylacetate–propylencarbonate (EtOAc/PC) binary solutions at different temperatures using the conductometric method. The results show that the stoichiometry of the (DB18C6 . UO2)2+ complex in all binary mixed solvents is 1:1. A non-linear behavior was observed for changes of log Kf of this complex versus the composition of the binary mixed solvents. The stability constant of (DB18C6 . UO2)2+ complex in various neat solvents at 25 °C decreases in order: THF > EtOAc > PC > AN > DMF, and in the binary solvents at 25 °C is: THF–EtOAc > PC–EtOAc > DMF–EtOAc ≈ AN–EtOAc. The values of thermodynamic quantities (?H°c, ?S°c) for formation of this complex in the different binary solutions were obtained from temperature dependence of its stability constant and the results show that the thermodynamics of complexation reaction between UO2 2+ cation and DB18C6 is affected strongly by the nature and composition of the mixed solvents.  相似文献

The polymerization of acrylamide initiated by an ascorbic acid–peroxydisulfate redox system was studied in aqueous solution at 35 ± 0.2°C in the presence of air. The concentrations studied were [monomer] = (2.0–15.0) × 10?2 mole/liter; [peroxydisulfate] = (1.5–10.0) × 10?3 mole/liter; and [ascorbic acid] = (2.84–28.4) × 10?4 mole/liter; temperatures were between 25–50°C. Within these ranges the initial rate showed a half-order dependence on peroxydisulfate, a first-order dependence on an initial monomer concentration, and a first-order dependence on a low concentration of ascorbic acid [(2.84–8.54) × 10?4 mole/liter]. At higher concentrations of ascorbic acid the rate remained constant in the concentration range (8.54–22.72) × 10?4 mole/liter, then varied as an inverse halfpower at still higher concentrations of ascorbic acid [(22.72–28.4) × 10?4 mole/liter]. The initial rate increased with an increase in polymerization temperature. The overall energy of activation was 12.203 kcal/mole in a temperature range of 25–50°C. Water-miscible organic solvents depressed the initial rate and the limiting conversion. The viscometric average molecular weight increased with an increase in temperature and initial monomer concentration but decreased with increasing concentration of peroxydisulfate and an additive, dimethyl formamide (DMF).  相似文献

Several new poly(pyridinium salt)s with quinoline diamine moieties in their backbones with tosylate and triflimide counterion were prepared by either a ring‐transmutation polymerization reaction with bis(pyrylium tosylate) with a series of isomeric quinoline diamines in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) for 48 h at 130–140 °C or a metathesis reaction of the tosylate polymers with lithium triflimide in DMSO at about 60 °C. Their chemical structures were confirmed by FTIR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. Their number‐average molecular weights (Mn) were in the range of 18,000–58,000, and their polydispersities were in the range of 1.12–1.53 as determined by gel permeation chromatography. They had thermal stability in the temperature range of 353–455 °C and glass‐transition temperatures >240 °C. They had good solubility in common organic solvents and were characterized with polarizing optical microscopy (POM) studies for their lyotropic liquid‐crystalline properties. Their light‐emission properties were examined by spectrofluorometry in both the solution and film states. Their quantum yields were also determined. Additionally, their morphologies in the thin‐film states and melt‐drawn fibers were examined with POM, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy techniques. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of novel perfluorononenyloxy group containing polyarylates were synthesized by a high-temperature solution condensation of 5-(perfluorononenyloxy)-isophthaloyl chloride ( II ) with various aromatic diols in o-dichlorobenzene. All the polyarylates were amorphous and readily soluble in many organic solvents such as o-chlorophenol, o-dichlorobenzene, chloroform, and polar aprotic solvents at room temperature or on heating. Transparent, tough, and flexible films of these polymers could be cast from the o-chlorophenol solutions. The polymers having inherent viscosity of 0.61–1.63 dL/g were obtained in quantitative yields. These polymers were thermally quite stable. The glass transition temperatures of these polyarylates were in the range of 219–242°C by DSC and 224–251°C by DMA, and the 10% weight loss temperatures in nitrogen and air were above 415 and 397°C, respectively. Moreover, these polymers maintained good mechanical properties (G′ ∼ 108 Pa) up to 220°C and had lower moisture absorption than common polyarylates. The kinetics of the reaction of substituted anilines with 2‐chloro‐5‐nitropyridine were studied in dimethyl sulfonide (DMSO) and dimethyl formamide (DMF) at different amine concentrations and temperatures in the range 45–60°C. In both solvents the reaction was not a base‐catalyzed one. A plot of ΔH# versus ΔS# for the reaction in DMSO and DMF gave good straight lines with isokinetic temperatures 128°C and 105°C, respectively. Good linear relationships were obtained from the plots of log k1 against σ° values at all temperatures with negative ρ values (?1.63 to ?1.28 in DMSO) and (?1.26 to ?0.90 in DMF). © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The aqueous polymerization of acrylonitrile initiated by an acidified bromate–thiourea redox system has been studied under nitrogen atmosphere. The rate of polymerization is independent of thiourea concentration over the range 2–9 × 10?3M and reaches maximum at 9 × 10?3M. The rate varies linearly with [monomer]. The initial rate of polymerization as well as the maximum conversion increases within the range of 4–22.5 × 10?3M KBrO3, but beyond 22.5 × 10?3M the rate of polymerization decreases. The initial rate and the limiting conversion increases with increasing polymerization temperature in the range 30–45°C; and beyond 45°C they decrease. The effect of certain neutral salts, water-soluble solvents, and micelles of cationic, anionic, and nonionic surfactants on the rate of polymerization has been investigated.  相似文献

The solution properties of poly(dimethyl siloxane) (PDMS) were studied with light scattering (LS), gel permeation chromatography/light scattering (GPC/LS), and viscometry methods. PDMS samples were fractionated, and the weight‐average molecular weights, second virial coefficient, and the z‐average radius of gyration of each fraction were found according to the Zimm method with the LS technique. In this work, the molecular weight range studied was 7.5 × 104 to 8.0 × 105. Molecular weights and molecular weight distributions were determined by GPC/LS. The intrinsic viscosities of these fractions were studied in toluene at 30 °C, in methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) at 20 °C, and in bromocyclohexane (BCH) at 26 °C and 28 °C. The Mark–Houwink–Sakurada relationship showed that toluene was a good solvent, and MEK at 20 °C and BCH at 28 °C were θ solvents for PDMS. The unperturbed dimensions were calculated with LS and intrinsic viscosity data. The unperturbed dimensions, expressed in terms of the characteristic ratio, were found to be 6.66 with different extrapolation methods in toluene at 30 °C. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Hydroxyl-containing polyamides have been prepared by the ring-opening polyaddition of 4,4′-oxydi-p-phenylenebis(4-butanolide) with aliphatic diamines in alcoholic solvents at 65–80°C. These polymers having inherent viscosities ranging from 0.1 to 0.5 were soluble in a variety of solvents including dimethylformamide, formic acid, and m-cresol. Transparent and flexible films cast from these solutions were highly hygroscopic. All the polymers had low softing temperatures in the range of 115–130°C, and began to decompose at around 250°C, both in air and under nitrogen.  相似文献

Several novel poly(pyridinium salt)s with heterocyclic pyridine moieties in their backbones with tosylate and triflimide counterions were prepared by either ring‐transmutation polymerization reaction of phenylated‐bis(pyrylium tosylate) with isomeric pyridine diamines of 4‐phenyl‐2,6‐bis(4‐aminophenyl)pyridine in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) for 48 h at 130–140 °C or by metathesis reaction of the respective tosylate polymers with lithium triflimide in DMSO at about 60 °C. Their chemical structures were characterized by FTIR, 1H, 13C NMR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. Their number‐average molecular weights (Mn) were in the range of 8,000–51,000 and their polydispersities in the range of 1.18–2.13 as determined by gel permeation chromatography. They had excellent thermal stabilities of 340–458 °C and high glass transition temperatures >200 °C. As they showed good solubilities in common organic solvents, their solution properties were also characterized for their lyotropic liquid‐crystalline properties with polarizing optical microscopy (POM) studies. Their photoluminescent properties were examined by using a spectrofluorometer in both solution and solid states. Their quantum yields were rather low, which were in the range of 1.3–2.0%. Additionally, hand‐drawn fibers from the melts were examined to determine their morphologies with a number of microscopic techniques including POM, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Vapor—liquid equilibrium data in two ternary mixture systems, hydrogen + tetralin + diphenylmethane and hydrogen + tetralin + m-xylene, were determined in a flow apparatus at pressures 20–250 atm1 for both systems, and temperatures 190–430°C for the first system and 190–310°C for the second. Mixed solvents approximately equi-molal in the organic compounds were studied. Henry constants of hydrogen in the mixed solvents were evaluated from the data. The results show that the solubility of hydrogen in these mixed hydrocarbon solvents can be completely predicted from solubilities in the pure component liquids.  相似文献

The effect of the 2′-(3-trifluoromethyl-2,2,3-trifluorocyclobutyl)ethyl radical in fluorosiloxane on the thermodynamics of dissolution of various low-molecular-mass compounds in this polymer is studied via inverse gas chromatography. The activity coefficients at infinite dilution, Ω 1 , in the temperature range 20–100°C are determined for C6–C8 n-alkanes, cyclohexane, benzene, toluene, tetrachloromethane, trichloromethane, 2-butanone, and ethyl acetate. Flory-Huggins interaction parameters χ 12 are calculated. It is shown that hydrocarbons are poor solvents (Ω 1 > 6, χ 12 > 0.5) and that the studied fluorosiloxane is not inferior to commercial polymethyl(3,3,3-trifluoropropyl)siloxane with respect to stability in nonpolar liquid media in the range 20–70°C. Trichloromethane (above 50°C) and compounds containing a carbonyl group are found to be good solvents. The dispersion component of the solubility of the polymer, δ 2, is determined to be 14.0 (J/cm3)1/2 at 20°C and slightly lower, 13.5 (J/cm3)1/2, at 100°C. Possible causes of these low values of δ2 are discussed.  相似文献

A series of poly(ether imide)s (PEIs), III a–k , with light color and good physical properties were prepared from 1,4‐bis(3,4‐dicarboxypheoxy)‐2,5‐di‐tert‐butylbenzene dianhydride ( I ) with various aromatic diamines ( II a–k ) via a conventional two‐stage procedure that included a ring‐opening polyaddition to yield poly(amic acid)s (PAA), followed by thermal imidization to the PEI. The intermediate PAA had inherent viscosities in the range of 1.00–1.53 dL g?1. Most of the PEIs showed excellent solubility in chlorinated solvents such as dichloromethane, chloroform, and m‐cresol, but did not easily dissolve in dimethyl sulfoxide and amide‐type polar solvents. The III series had tensile strengths of 96–116 MPa, an elongation at break of 7–8%, and initial moduli of 2.0–2.5 GPa. The glass‐transition temperatures (Tg) and softening temperatures (Ts's) of the III series were recorded between 232 and 285 °C and 216–279 °C, respectively. The decomposition temperatures for 10% weight loss all occurred above 511 °C in nitrogen and 487 °C in air. The III series showed low dielectric constants (2.71–3.54 at 1 MHz), low moisture absorption (0.18–0.66 wt %), and was light‐colored with a cutoff wavelength below 380 nm and a low yellow index (b*) values of 7.3–14.8. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An ultrasound-assisted emulsification microextraction (USAEME) based on low-density solvents was successfully applied for the extraction and pre-concentration of four toxic nitrophenols in water samples. The extracted analytes were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography-UV detection. The important parameters influencing the extraction efficiency were studied and optimized utilizing two different optimization methods: one variable at a time (OVAT) and central composite design (CCD). The results showed that the emulsification process can be completed in a few seconds using low-density solvents, but almost 10–20?min is necessary for high-density solvents. Under the optimum conditions (extraction solvent, 1-octanol; extraction solvent volume, 40?µL; sample pH, 3.0; salt concentration, 20% (w/v) NaCl; extraction temperature, 40 (±3)°C), limits of detection of the method were in the range of 0.25 to 1?µg?L?1 and the repeatability and reproducibility of the proposed method, expressed as relative deviation, varied in the range of 2.2–4.2% and 4.7–6.9%, respectively. Linearity was found to be in the range of 1 to 200?µg?L?1 and the preconcentration factors (PFs) were between 77 and 175. The relative recoveries of the four nitrophenols from water samples at spiking level of 10.0?µg?L?1 were in the range of 92.0 to 115.0%.  相似文献

The polymerization of acrylamide (I) initiated by a potassium bromate—thioglycollic acid (TGA) redox pair has been studied in aqueous media at 30°C in a nitrogen atmosphere. The reaction order related to the catalyst concentration (KBrO3) was 0.501, which indicated a bimolecular mechanism for the termination reaction in the range of 1.0?3.0 × 10?3 mole/liter. The polymerization rate varied linearly with monomer (I) concentration over the range of 1.0?5.0 × 10?2 mole/liter. A typical behavior is observed, however, by changing the thioglycollic acid concentration. The initial rate of polymerization (Ri), as well as the maximum conversion, increases by increasing the temperature to 30°C, but the initial rate and the maximum conversion falls as the temperature rises above 30°C. The overall energy of activation is 6.218 kcal in the temperature range of 20–40°C. Water-miscible organic solvents, namely, CH3OH and C2H5OH, depress the rate of polymerization.  相似文献

Bis(4-oxybenzoic acid) tetrakis(phenoxy) cyclotriphosphazene (IUPAC name: 4-[4-(carboxyphenoxy)-2,4,6,6-tetraphenoxy-1,3,5,2λ5,4λ5,6λ5-triazatriphosphinin-2-yl]oxy-benzoic acid) was synthesized and direct polycondensed with diphenylether or 1,4-diphenoxybenzene in Eaton's reagent at the temperature range of 80–120°C for 3 hours to give aromatic poly(ether ketone)s. Polycondensations at 120°C gave polymer of high molecular weight. Incorporation of cyclotriphosphazene groups in the aromatic poly(ether ketone) backbone greatly enhanced the solubility of these polymers in common organic polar solvents. Thermal stabilities by TGA for two polymer samples of polymer series ranged from 390 to 354°C in nitrogen at 10% weight loss and glass transition temperatures (Tg) ranged from 81.4 to 89.6°C by DSC. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A series of inorganic-organic linear diacetylenic hybrid polymers ( 5a–e ) were prepared by the polycondensation reaction of 1,4-dilithiobutadiyne with 1,4-bis(dimethylchlorosilyl)benzene and/or 1,7-bis(tetramethylchlorodisiloxane)-m-carborane. Their structures were characterized using FTIR, and 13C and 1H NMR spectroscopies, and their thermal and oxidative properties were evaluated by DSC and TGA analyses. The hybrid polymers exhibited solubility in common organic solvents and were viscous liquids or low melting solids at room temperature. Broad prominent exotherms, attributed to reaction of the diacetylenic units, were observed by DSC in the 306°C to 354°C temperature range. When 5a–e were analyzed by TGA to 1000°C under nitrogen, weight retention between 79 and 86% were obtained. Ageing studies, performed at elevated temperatures in air on a thermoset and a ceramic obtained from polymer 5b , showed this system to have excellent thermal and oxidative stability. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A series of new soluble polyamides having isopropylidene and methyl-substituted arylene ether moieties in the polymer chain were prepared by the direct polycondensation of 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethyl-2,2-bis[4-(4-carboxyphenoxy)phenyl]propane and various diamines in N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP) containing CaCl2 using triphenyl phosphite and pyridine as condensing agents. Polymers were produced with moderate to high inherent viscosities of 0.85–1.47 dL g−1 while the weight-average molecular weight and number-average molecular weight were in the range of 86,700–259,000 and 43,300–119,000, respectively. All the polymers were readily dissolved in polar aprotic solvents such as NMP, N,N-dimethylacetamide, and N,N-dimethylformamide, as well as less polar solvents such as m-cresol and pyridine, and even soluble in tetrahydrofuran. These polymers were solution-cast into transparent, flexible and tough films. All of the polymers were amorphous and the polyamide films had a tensile strength range of 82–122 MPa, an elongation at break range of 6–18%, and a tensile modulus range of 2.0–2.8 GPa. These polyamides had glass transition temperatures between 233–260°C and 10% weight loss temperatures in the range of 450–489 and 459–493°C in nitrogen and air atmosphere, respectively. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
