Thin films of lead sulfide (PbS) nanoparticles embedded in an amorphous silica (SiO2) host were grown on Si(1 0 0) substrates at different temperatures by the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. Surface morphology and photoluminescence (PL) properties of samples were analyzed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and a 458 nm Ar+ laser, respectively. The PL data show a blue-shift from the normal emission at ∼3200 nm in PbS bulk to ∼560-700 nm in nanoparticulate PbS powders and thin films. Furthermore, the PL emission of the films was red-shifted from that of the powders at ∼560 to ∼660 nm. The blue-shifting of the emission wavelengths from 3200 to ∼560-700 nm is attributed to quantum confinement of charge carriers in the restricted volume of nanoparticles, while the red-shift between powders and thin-film PbS nanoparticles is speculated to be due to an increase in the defect concentration. The red-shift increased slightly with an increase in deposition temperature, which suggests that there has been a relative growth in particle sizes during the PLD of the films at higher temperatures. Generally, the PL emission of the powders was more intense than that of the films, although the intensity of some of the films was improved marginally by post-deposition annealing at 400 °C. This paper compares the PL properties of powder and pulsed laser-deposited thin films of PbS nanoparticles and the effects of deposition temperatures.  相似文献

Zinc oxide (ZnO) and lead sulphide (PbS) nanoparticles separately synthesized by a precipitation method were combined by an ex situ route to prepare ZnO-PbS nanocomposites with different molar ratios of ZnO and PbS. The structure and morphology of the ZnO, PbS and ZnO-PbS samples were analyzed with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM). A UV-vis spectrophotometer was used to collect the absorption and 325 nm He-Cd and 488 nm Ar lasers were used to collect the photoluminescence data from the samples. ZnO nanoparticles showed a broad and stable emission peak at ∼570 nm, while a strongly quantum confined emission from PbS nanoparticles was detected at ∼1344-1486 nm. The ZnO-PbS nanocomposites exhibited dual emission in the visible and near-infrared (NIR) regions that is associated with defects and recombination of excitonic centres in the ZnO and PbS nanoparticles, respectively. The PL intensity of the visible emission from the ZnO-PbS nanocomposite was shown to increase when the ZnO to PbS molar ratio was 5:1 and the emission was almost quenched at molar ratios of 1:1 and 1:5. For different molar ratios of ZnO to PbS, the PL intensity of the NIR emission from the ZnO-PbS nanocomposites was more intense than that of PbS nanoparticles.  相似文献

ZnO:Al thin films with c-axis preferred orientation were deposited on glass and Si substrates using RF magnetron sputtering technique. The effect of substrate on the structural and optical properties of ZnO:Al films were investigated. The results showed a strong blue peak from glass-substrate ZnO:Al film whose intensity became weak when deposited on Si substrate. However, the full width at half maxima (FWHM) of the Si-substrate ZnO:Al (0 0 2) peaks decreased evidently and the grain size increased. Finally, we discussed the influence of annealing temperature on the structural and optical properties of Si-substrate ZnO:Al films. After annealing, the crystal quality of Si-substrate ZnO:Al thin films was markedly improved and the intensity of blue peak (∼445 nm) increased noticeably. This observation may indicate that the visible emission properties of the ZnO:Al films are dependent more on the film crystallinity than on the film stoichiometry.  相似文献

This paper deals with the sol-gel elaboration and defects photoluminescence (PL) examination of Al2O3 nanocrystallites (size ∼30 nm) confined in glass based on silica aerogel. Aluminium oxide aerogels were synthesized using esterification reaction for hydrolysis of the precursor and supercritical conditions of ethyl alcohol for drying. The obtained nanopowder was incorporated in SiO2 host matrix. After heating under natural atmosphere at 1150 °C for 2 h, the composite Al2O3/SiO2 (AS) exhibited a strong PL bands at 400-600 and 700-900 nm in 78-300 K temperature range. PL excitation (PLE) measurements show different origins of the emission. It was suggested that OH-related radiative centres and non-bridging oxygen hole centres (NBOHCs) were responsible for the bands at 400-600 and 700-900 nm, respectively.  相似文献

Polyfluorene-based blue light-emitting devices suffer from the shortcomings of low stability, drastic loss of quantum yield and poor color purity. To find out the solution, we use silver nanoparticles for enhancement of photoluminescence of polyfluorene copolymer (PCFOz) through localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) coupling effect. The photoluminescence from PCFOz can be concentrated down to nanoscale, realizing a high spatial selectivity of the fluorescence enhancement process. PL emission of conjugated polymer is blueshifted about 8 nm from the peak emission of 433 nm for the neat PCFOz film to around 425 nm for the Ag/PCFOz composite film. The full width at half maximum of PCFOz is reduced from 88 to 60 nm. Absorbance spectra and time resolved photoluminescence measurements further demonstrate that both absorption intensity and recombination rate of PCFOz increase due to strong LSPR-excitons coupling. Optical properties of such plasmon-enhanced organic light emitters were also studied by temperature-dependent PL spectroscopy from 10 to 200 K. In comparison with bare PCFOz, the LSPR induced emission enhancement ratio significantly increases with increasing temperature. These results are believed to be important for the development of highly efficient blue organic light-emitting devices based on all-solution processing.  相似文献

Pure and Cu-doped ZnO (ZnO:Cu) thin films were deposited on glass substrates using radio frequency (RF) reactive magnetron sputtering. The effect of substrate temperature on the crystallization behavior and optical properties of the ZnO:Cu films have been studied. The crystal structures, surface morphology and optical properties of the films were systematically investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and a fluorescence spectrophotometer, respectively. The results indicated that ZnO films showed a stronger preferred orientation toward the c-axis and a more uniform grain size after Cu-doping. As for ZnO:Cu films, the full width at half maxima (FWHM) of (0 0 2) diffraction peaks decreased first and then increased, reaching a minimum of about 0.42° at 350 °C and the compressive stress of ZnO:Cu decreased gradually with the increase of substrate temperature. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra measured at room temperature revealed two blue and two green emissions. Intense blue-green luminescence was obtained from the sample deposited at higher substrate temperature. Finally, we discussed the influence of annealing temperature on the structural and optical properties of ZnO:Cu films. The quality of ZnO:Cu film was markedly improved and the intensity of blue peak (∼485 nm) and green peak (∼527 nm) increased noticeably after annealing. The origin of these emissions was discussed.  相似文献

Europium doped ytrrium oxide (Eu:Y2O3) was synthesized by a chemical wet method in the presence of tween-80 and ?-caprolactam in pH range 4-10. It has been observed that the variation in surface area, pore size, and pore volume of the final product, was strongly dependent on the initial pH of the solution. The powder with a large surface area (∼230 m2/g) and low pore diameter (∼16 nm) was obtained when the powder was processed at pH ∼4. The crystallite sizes of the powders processed at pH ∼4 and 10, were found to be 35 and 198 nm, respectively. The structural, chemical and thermal studies of the powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transformed infrared spectrophotometer (FTIR), Carbon analyzer and Thermogravimetry (TGA). High resolution transmission electron microscopic (HRTEM) study of heat treated powders showed a polygonal morphology with particle size of 40 nm when powder was derived at pH ∼4. Observations of fluorescence suggested that the 5D07F2 transition within europium was found to be highly dependent on the initial pH.  相似文献

In this work, we report on the electrodeposition of ZnO thin films on n-Si (1 0 0) and glass substrates. The influence of the deposition time on the morphology of ZnO thin films was investigated. The ZnO thin films were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray (EDS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show a variation of ZnO texture from main (0 0 2) at 10 min to totally (1 0 1) at 15 min deposition time. The photoluminescence (PL) studies show that both UV (∼382 nm) and blue (∼432 nm) luminescences are the main emissions for the electrodeposited ZnO films. In addition, the film grown at 15 min indicates an evident decrease of the yellow-green (∼520 nm) emission band comparing with that of 10 min. Finally, transmittance spectra show a high transmission value up to 85% in the visible wavelength range. Such results would be very interesting for solar cells applications.  相似文献

Eu3+:NaGdF4 samples were obtained via co-precipitation in aqueous solution (CP), reversed micelle (RM) method, reaction between solid GdF3 and NaF solution (SR) as well as a solid-state reaction at high temperatures (SS). The synthesised materials were characterised using X-ray powder diffractometry, TEM microscopy, infrared spectroscopy and TGA analysis. For discussion of optical properties excitation and emission spectra were recorded and emission decay times were measured. The CP and RM methods allow to obtain powders with crystallite size of ∼10 nm, which may be smoothly increased to about 1 μm during post-fabrication heat treatment. Differences in structural and especially in optical properties of phosphors prepared by different techniques are emphasised and applicability of wet-chemistry routes for synthesis of fluoride powders is argued.  相似文献

Thin films of lead sulfide (PbS) nanoparticles were grown on corning glass and Si(1 0 0) substrates by polyethylene glycol-assisted chemical bath deposition (CBD) method. This paper compares the morphology and the luminescence properties (PL) of the deposited thin films in the presence (or absence) of PEG300 and investigates the effect of deposition temperatures. Surface morphology and photoluminescence properties of samples were analyzed. The PL data show a blue-shift from the normal emission at ∼2900 nm in PbS bulk to ∼360 nm in nanoparticles of PbS thin films. Furthermore, the PL emission of the films obtained without the addition of PEG300 (type 1) was slightly shifted from that of the films obtained in presence of PEG300 (type 2) from ∼360 to ∼470 nm. The blue-shifting of the emission wavelengths from 2900 to ∼360 or 470 nm is attributed to quantum confinement of charge carriers in the restricted volume of nanoparticles, while the shift between the two types of PbS nanoparticles thin films is speculated to be due to an increase in the defect concentration. The blue-shift increased with increase of the deposition temperature, which suggests that there has been a relative depletion in particle sizes during the CBD of the films at higher temperatures. The PbS nanocrystalline thin films obtained in the presence of PEG300 at 60 °C exhibit a high blue luminescence.  相似文献

In this paper, BaMoO4 powders were prepared by the coprecipitation method and processed in a domestic microwave-hydrothermal. The obtained powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform Raman (FT-Raman) spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) absorption spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) measurements. The morphology of these powders were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). SEM micrographs showed that the BaMoO4 powders present a polydisperse particle size distribution. XRD and FT-Raman analyses revealed that the BaMoO4 powders are free of secondary phases and crystallize in a tetragonal structure. UV-vis was employed to determine the optical band gap of this material. PL measurements at room temperature exhibited a maximum emission around 542 nm (green emission) when excited with 488 nm wavelength. This PL behavior was attributed to the existence of intrinsic distortions into the [MoO4] tetrahedron groups in the lattice.  相似文献

Ionoluminescence (IL) of kyanite single crystals bombarded with 100 MeV swift Ag8+ ions with fluences in the range 1.87-7.5×1011 ions/cm2 has been studied. A pair of sharp IL peaks at ∼689 and 706 nm along with broad emission in the region 710-800 nm are recorded in both crystalline and pelletized samples. Similar results are recorded in Photoluminescence (PL) of pelletized kyanite bombarded with same ions and energy with fluences in the range 1×1011-5×1013 ions/cm2 with an excitation of 442 nm laser beam. The characteristic pair of sharp emission peaks at 689 and 706 nm in both IL and PL is attributed to luminescence centers activated by Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions. The reduction in IL and PL bands intensity with increase of ion fluence might be attributed to degradation of Si-O (2ν3) bonds, present on the surface of the sample.  相似文献

In the present work, we report the synthesis and optical properties of ZnS nanoparticles produced by the mechano-chemical route. We used zinc acetate and sodium sulphide as source materials in a high energy planetary ball mill at rotation speed of 300 rpm and vial rotation speed of 600 rpm with ball to powder (BPR or charge ratio CR) 5:1 for 30 and 90 min. The milled powders were washed with methanol to remove impurity and dried at 300 °C for 1 h. The prepared nanoparticles have been characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM), UV–vis–NIR spectrophotometer and Fluorescence spectroscopy. The crystallite size of the synthesized ZnS nanoparticles is found to be in the range 7–8 nm which was calculated using Debye–Scherer's formula. The value of optical band gap has been found to be in the range 3.80–4.15 eV. Room temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectrum of ZnS samples exhibit a blue emission peaked at 466 nm under UV excitation.  相似文献

Intense and broad photoluminescence (PL) emission at room temperature was observed on structurally disordered Ba[Zr0.25Ti0.75]O3 (BZT) powders synthesized by the polymeric precursor method. BZT powders were annealed at 573 K for different times and at 973 K for 2 h in oxygen atmosphere. The single-phase cubic perovskite structure of the powder annealed at 973 K for 2 h was identified by X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform Raman techniques. PL emission increased with the increase of annealing time, which reached its maximum value in the powder annealed at 573 K for 192 h. First principles quantum mechanical calculations based on density functional theory (B3LYP level) were employed to study the electronic structure of ordered and disordered models. The theoretical calculations and experimental measurements of Ultraviolet-visible absorption spectroscopy indicate that the presence of intermediary energy levels in the band gap is favorable for the intense and broad PL emission at room temperature in disordered BZT powders. The PL behavior is probably due the existence of a charge gradient on the disordered structure, denoted by means of a charge transfer process from [TiO5]-[ZrO6] or [TiO6]-[ZrO5] clusters to [TiO6]-[ZrO6] clusters.  相似文献

Cu-doped ZnO films with hexagonal wurtzite structure were deposited on silicon (1 1 1) substrates by radio frequency (RF) sputtering technique. An ultraviolet (UV) peak at ∼380 nm and a blue band centered at ∼430 nm were observed in the room temperature photoluminescent (PL) spectra. The UV emission peak was from the exciton transition. The blue emission band was assigned to the Zn interstitial (Zni) and Zn vacancy (VZn) level transition. A strong blue peak (∼435 nm) was observed in the PL spectra when the αCu (the area ratio of Cu-chips to the Zn target) was 1.5% at 100 W, and ZnO films had c-axis preferred orientation and smaller lattice mismatch. The influence of αCu and the sputtering power on the blue band was investigated.  相似文献

A blue shifted photoluminescent emission in bis(2-(2′-hydroxyl phenyl)benzthiazolate)zinc (II) complex, ZBZT, arises out of the dimeric structure, typical of the localized electron density around the non-bridged ligand in the excited state of the complex. An average decay lifetime of 4.8 and 3.0 ns for the ligand and the complex, respectively indicates an energy transfer from the ligand to the metal. A PL quantum efficiency of about ?ZBZT=0.45 in DMF solution is observed, in comparison to the Alq3, complex, ?Alq3=0.116. Semi empirical ZINDO/S-SCF-CI calculations support the dominance of non-bridged ligand moiety in controlling the photoluminescent properties. An unusually broad white light (FWHM ∼220 nm) electroluminescent emission in the two layer device structure brings out the features of an exciplex formation between the active layer ZBZT/TPD interface, which is studied at different current densities. Such a broadened emission is verified for different thicknesses of the active layer substantiating the role of exciplex formation.  相似文献

Nano-sized cerium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG:Ce) phosphors were synthesized via a simple sol-gel process using metal nitrate precursors. The prepared phosphors were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, respectively. Pure cubic garnet phase was formed at temperatures ∼900 οC. The particle sizes of as-prepared powders were mostly in the range of 17-27 nm. The crystalline YAG:Ce showed broad emission peaks in the range of 400-700 nm and maximum intensities at 500 and 520 nm. It is found also that the emission intensity decreased with increasing Ce doping concentration from 0.1 to 1.5 at%. With increasing Ce doping concentration, the PL intensity was shifted towards shorter wavelengths.  相似文献

PbS quantum dots of average size 10 nm are encapsulated in a matrix (polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)) following chemical route. They are irradiated with 160 MeV Ni12+ ion beam with fluences 1012-1013 ions/cm2. Red shift in the absorption response in the optical absorption spectra reveal size enhancement of the quantum dots after irradiation and was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Photoluminescence (PL) study was carried out with excitation wavelength 325 nm on both unirradiated and irradiated samples at different fluences and fluence-dependent surface states and excitonic emission is observed in the PL study. The Huang-Rhys coupling constant decreases significantly after swift heavy ion (SHI) irradiation and shows a decreasing trend with increase in ion fluence.  相似文献

In the present study, we report the photoluminescence (PL) study of nanoparticles of ZnS implanted with Cu+ ions at the doses of 5×1014, 1×1015 and 5×1015 ions/cm2 and annealed at 200 and 300 °C. The photoluminescence spectra of the samples implanted at lower doses of 5×1014 and 1×1015 ions/cm2 and annealed at 200 and 300 °C showed peaks at around 406, 418 and 485 nm. The PL emission peak at 485 nm was attributed to the transition of electrons from conduction band of ZnS to the impurity level formed by the implanted Cu+ ions. In the PL spectrum of the sample implanted at the highest dose of 5×1015 ions/cm2, in addition to the emission peaks observed in the PL spectra of the samples implanted at lower doses, a peak at around 525 nm, the intensity of which decreased with increase in the annealing temperature, was observed. The emission peak at 525 nm was attributed to the transitions between sulfur and zinc vacancy levels. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the emission peak at 406 nm was observed to decrease with increase in annealing temperature, indicating lattice reconstruction. The observation of copper ion impurity related peak at 485 nm in the PL spectra of samples of the present study indicated that the doping of copper ions into the ZnS lattice is achievable by implanting Cu+ ions followed by annealing.  相似文献

The crystalline structure and photoluminescence (PL) properties of europium-doped cerium dioxide synthesized by the solid-state reaction method were analyzed. CeO2:Eu3+ phosphor powders exhibit the pure cubic fluorite phase up to 10 mol% doping concentration of Eu3+. With indirect excitation of CeO2 host at 373 nm, the PL intensity quickly increases with increasing Eu3+ concentration, up to about 1 mol%, and then decreases indicating the concentration quenching. While with direct excitation (467 nm), much more stronger PL emissions, especially the electric dipole emission 5D0-7F2 at 612 nm, are observed and no concentration quenching occurs up to 10 mol% doping concentration of Eu3+. The nature of this behavior and the cause of the concentration quenching were discussed.  相似文献
