In recent years, considerable effort has been placed on developing efficient and robust solution algorithms for the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations based on preconditioned Krylov methods. These include physics-based methods, such as SIMPLE, and purely algebraic preconditioners based on the approximation of the Schur complement. All these techniques can be represented as approximate block factorization (ABF) type preconditioners. The goal is to decompose the application of the preconditioner into simplified sub-systems in which scalable multi-level type solvers can be applied. In this paper we develop a taxonomy of these ideas based on an adaptation of a generalized approximate factorization of the Navier–Stokes system first presented in [A. Quarteroni, F. Saleri, A. Veneziani, Factorization methods for the numerical approximation of Navier–Stokes equations, Computational Methods in Applied Mechanical Engineering 188 (2000) 505–526]. This taxonomy illuminates the similarities and differences among these preconditioners and the central role played by efficient approximation of certain Schur complement operators. We then present a parallel computational study that examines the performance of these methods and compares them to an additive Schwarz domain decomposition (DD) algorithm. Results are presented for two and three-dimensional steady state problems for enclosed domains and inflow/outflow systems on both structured and unstructured meshes. The numerical experiments are performed using MPSalsa, a stabilized finite element code.  相似文献

In this paper we prove stability of Robin solid wall boundary conditions for the compressible Navier–Stokes equations. Applications include the no-slip boundary conditions with prescribed temperature or temperature gradient and the first order slip-flow boundary conditions. The formulation is uniform and the transitions between different boundary conditions are done by a change of parameters. We give different sharp energy estimates depending on the choice of parameters.  相似文献

A spectral algorithm based on the immersed boundary conditions (IBC) concept is developed for simulations of viscous flows with moving boundaries. The algorithm uses a fixed computational domain with flow domain immersed inside the computational domain. Boundary conditions along the edges of the time-dependent flow domain enter the algorithm in the form of internal constraints. Spectral spatial discretization uses Fourier expansions in the stream-wise direction and Chebyshev expansions in the normal-to-the-wall direction. Up to fourth-order implicit temporal discretization methods have been implemented. It has been demonstrated that the algorithm delivers the theoretically predicted accuracy in both time and space. Performances of various linear solvers employed in the solution process have been evaluated and a new class of solver that takes advantage of the structure of the coefficient matrix has been proposed. The new solver results in a significant acceleration of computations as well as in a substantial reduction in memory requirements.  相似文献

A Newton–Krylov method is developed for the solution of the steady compressible Navier–Stokes equations using a discontinuous Galerkin (DG) discretization on unstructured meshes. Steady-state solutions are obtained using a Newton–Krylov approach where the linear system at each iteration is solved using a restarted GMRES algorithm. Several different preconditioners are examined to achieve fast convergence of the GMRES algorithm. An element Line-Jacobi preconditioner is presented which solves a block-tridiagonal system along lines of maximum coupling in the flow. An incomplete block-LU factorization (Block-ILU(0)) is also presented as a preconditioner, where the factorization is performed using a reordering of elements based upon the lines of maximum coupling. This reordering is shown to be superior to standard reordering techniques (Nested Dissection, One-way Dissection, Quotient Minimum Degree, Reverse Cuthill–Mckee) especially for viscous test cases. The Block-ILU(0) factorization is performed in-place and an algorithm is presented for the application of the linearization which reduces both the memory and CPU time over the traditional dual matrix storage format. Additionally, a linear p-multigrid preconditioner is also considered, where Block-Jacobi, Line-Jacobi and Block-ILU(0) are used as smoothers. The linear multigrid preconditioner is shown to significantly improve convergence in term of number of iterations and CPU time compared to a single-level Block-Jacobi or Line-Jacobi preconditioner. Similarly the linear multigrid preconditioner with Block-ILU smoothing is shown to reduce the number of linear iterations to achieve convergence over a single-level Block-ILU(0) preconditioner, though no appreciable improvement in CPU time is shown.  相似文献

We present in this paper a numerical scheme for incompressible Navier–Stokes equations with open and traction boundary conditions, in the framework of pressure-correction methods. A new way to enforce this type of boundary condition is proposed and provides higher pressure and velocity convergence rates in space and time than found in the present state of the art. We illustrate this result by computing some numerical and physical tests. In particular, we establish reference solutions of a laminar flow in a geometry where a bifurcation takes place and of the unsteady flow around a square cylinder.  相似文献

Raman spectroscopy was used for rapid in-situ measurement of alcohols in ethanol-methanol-water ternary systems. Mass fractions of the individual components were determined using calibration curves for binary systems of ethanol-water, methanol-water, and ethanol-methanol. Calibration curves were constructed by calculating the ratio of the Raman peak intensity of a component and that of an external standard (acetonitrile). Assuming additivity of the spectra, simultaneous equations were written, and mass fractions of ethanol, methanol, and water in the ternary solutions were determined by solving the system of equations through calculating an inverse matrix. The relative errors between the mass fractions obtained from the Raman spectra and those obtained from mass measurements were <0.6%.  相似文献

The method using series expansion is presented, and the wavenumber is separated from fundamental solution of Helmholtz boundary element equation, then the system matrices dependent of wavenumber are the matrices series associated with wavenumber, and the astringency of the method is proved. The numerical results show that combined with the CHIEFmethod, the SECHIEF (Series Expansion Combined Helmholtz Integral Equation Formulation) method can not only provide uniqueness of solution and reduce the computational time but also give accurate results under the coarse elements.  相似文献

This study provides a simple moving-grid scheme which is based on a modified conservative form of the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations for flow around a moving rigid body. The modified integral form is conservative and seeks the solution of the absolute velocity. This approach is different from previous conservative differential forms [1], [2], [3] whose reference frame is not inertial. Keeping the reference frame being inertial results in simpler mathematical derivation to the governing equation which includes one dyadic product of velocity vectors in the convective term, whereas the previous [2], [3] needs to obtain the time derivative with respect to non-inertial frames causing an additional dyadic product in the convective term. The scheme is implemented in a second-order accurate Navier–Stokes solver and maintains the order of the accuracy. After this verification, the scheme is validated for a pitching airfoil with very high frequencies. The simulation results match very well with the experimental results [4], [5], including vorticity fields and a net thrust force. This airfoil simulation also provides detailed vortical structures near the trailing edge and time-evolving aerodynamic forces that are used to investigate the mechanism of the thrust force generation and the effects of the trailing edge shape. The developed moving-grid scheme demonstrates its validity for a rapid oscillating motion.  相似文献

We present exact solutions for the Klein-Gordon equation with a ring-shaped oscillator potential. The energy eigenvalues and the normalized wave functions are obtained for a particle in the presence of non-central oscillator potential. The angular functions are expressed in terms of the hypergeometric functions. The radial eigenfunctions have been obtained by using the Laplace integral transform. By means of the Laplace transform method, which is efficient and simple, the radial Klein-Gordon equation is reduced to a first-order differential equation.  相似文献

We study the influence of different implementations of no-slip solid wall boundary conditions on the convergence to steady-state of the Navier–Stokes equations. The various approaches are investigated using the energy method and an eigenvalue analysis. It is shown that the weak implementation is superior and enhances the convergence to steady-state for coarse meshes. It is also demonstrated that all the stable approaches produce the same convergence rate as the mesh size goes to zero. The numerical results obtained by using a fully nonlinear finite volume solver support the theoretical findings from the linear analysis.  相似文献

Two absorbing boundary conditions, the absorbing sponge zone and the perfectly matched layer, are developed and implemented for the spectral difference method discretizing the Euler and Navier–Stokes equations on unstructured grids. The performance of both boundary conditions is evaluated and compared with the characteristic boundary condition for a variety of benchmark problems including vortex and acoustic wave propagations. The applications of the perfectly matched layer technique in the numerical simulations of unsteady problems with complex geometries are also presented to demonstrate its capability.  相似文献

Both ionic solutions under an external applied static electric field E and glassy-forming liquids under undercooled state are in non-equilibrium state. In this work, molecular dynamics(MD)simulations with three aqueous alkali ion chloride(NaCl,KCl,and RbCl)ionic solutions are performed to exploit whether the glass-forming liquid analogous fractional variant of the Stokes–Einstein relation also exists in ionic solutions under E.Our results indicate that the diffusion constant decouples from the structural relaxation time under E,and a fractional variant of the Stokes–Einstein relation is observed as well as a crossover analogous to the glass-forming liquids under cooling. The fractional variant of the Stokes–Einstein relation is attributed to the E introduced deviations from Gaussian and the nonlinear effect.  相似文献

The development of a compact fourth-order finite volume method for solutions of the Navier–Stokes equations on staggered grids is presented. A special attention is given to the conservation laws on momentum control volumes. A higher-order divergence-free interpolation for convective velocities is developed which ensures a perfect conservation of mass and momentum on momentum control volumes. Three forms of the nonlinear correction for staggered grids are proposed and studied. The accuracy of each approximation is assessed comparatively in Fourier space. The importance of higher-order approximations of pressure is discussed and numerically demonstrated. Fourth-order accuracy of the complete scheme is illustrated by the doubly-periodic shear layer and the instability of plane-channel flow. The efficiency of the scheme is demonstrated by a grid dependency study of turbulent channel flows by means of direct numerical simulations. The proposed scheme is highly accurate and efficient. At the same level of accuracy, the fourth-order scheme can be ten times faster than the second-order counterpart. This gain in efficiency can be spent on a higher resolution for more accurate solutions at a lower cost.  相似文献

We have developed a second-order numerical method, based on the matched interface and boundary (MIB) approach, to solve the Navier–Stokes equations with discontinuous viscosity and density on non-staggered Cartesian grids. We have derived for the first time the interface conditions for the intermediate velocity field and the pressure potential function that are introduced in the projection method. Differentiation of the velocity components on stencils across the interface is aided by the coupled fictitious velocity values, whose representations are solved by using the coupled velocity interface conditions. These fictitious values and the non-staggered grid allow a convenient and accurate approximation of the pressure and potential jump conditions. A compact finite difference method was adopted to explicitly compute the pressure derivatives at regular nodes to avoid the pressure–velocity decoupling. Numerical experiments verified the desired accuracy of the numerical method. Applications to geophysical problems demonstrated that the sharp pressure jumps on the clast-Newtonian matrix are accurately captured for various shear conditions, moderate viscosity contrasts and a wide range of density contrasts. We showed that large transfer errors will be introduced to the jumps of the pressure and the potential function in case of a large absolute difference of the viscosity across the interface; these errors will cause simulations to become unstable.  相似文献

Common efficient schemes for the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations, such as projection or fractional step methods, have limited temporal accuracy as a result of matrix splitting errors, or introduce errors near the domain boundaries (which destroy uniform convergence to the solution). In this paper we recast the incompressible (constant density) Navier–Stokes equations (with the velocity prescribed at the boundary) as an equivalent system, for the primary variables velocity and pressure. equation for the pressure. The key difference from the usual approaches occurs at the boundaries, where we use boundary conditions that unequivocally allow the pressure to be recovered from knowledge of the velocity at any fixed time. This avoids the common difficulty of an, apparently, over-determined Poisson problem. Since in this alternative formulation the pressure can be accurately and efficiently recovered from the velocity, the recast equations are ideal for numerical marching methods. The new system can be discretized using a variety of methods, including semi-implicit treatments of viscosity, and in principle to any desired order of accuracy. In this work we illustrate the approach with a 2-D second order finite difference scheme on a Cartesian grid, and devise an algorithm to solve the equations on domains with curved (non-conforming) boundaries, including a case with a non-trivial topology (a circular obstruction inside the domain). This algorithm achieves second order accuracy in the L norm, for both the velocity and the pressure. The scheme has a natural extension to 3-D.  相似文献
