An alternative method for modulation of light generated by AlGaN/InGaN multiple quantum well laser with quartz antireflective (AR) coatings covering the resonator windows was modelled and studied theoretically. Disturbance of the piezoelectric coatings caused by surface acoustic waves (SAW) results in efficient intensity modulation of the laser beam. The model for the laser diode operating at DC demonstrates that the modulation factor can exceed 0.2 in sub-nanometer SAW displacement. For quarter-wave AR films, the carrier frequency of modulated beam has twice the frequency of SAW.  相似文献

We investigated the modulation of the optical properties of GaAs-based structures by a surface acoustic wave (SAW) by microscopic measurements of reflectance and photoluminescence. We demonstrate that for photon energies away from electronic resonances, the modulation of the optical properties is associated with the strain field of the SAW (elastooptical mechanism). Close to the E0 resonance, the electrooptical modulation due to the SAW piezoelectric fields becomes important and leads to a spatial modulation of the photoluminescence intensity.  相似文献

We report on realization of an efficient triply resonant coupling between two long lived optical modes and a high frequency surface acoustic wave (SAW) mode of the same monolithic crystalline whispering gallery mode resonator. The coupling results in an opto-mechanical oscillation and generation of a monochromatic SAW. A strong nonlinear interaction of this mechanical mode with other equidistant SAW modes leads to mechanical hyperparametric oscillation and generation of a SAW pulse train and associated frequency comb in the resonator. We visualized the comb by observing the modulation of the light escaping the resonator.  相似文献

X-ray diffraction on a langatate crystal (La3Ga5.5Ta0.5O14, LGT) modulated by a Λ=12 μm Rayleigh surface acoustic wave (SAW) was studied in a double axis X-ray diffractometer scheme at the BESSY synchrotron radiation source. SAW propagation in the crystal causes sinusoidal modulation of the crystal lattice and the appearance of diffraction satellites on the rocking curves, with their number, angular positions, and intensities depending on the wavelength and amplitude of acoustic vibrations of the crystal lattice. Strong absorption of X-ray radiation in LGT enables the observation of the diffraction spectra extinction at certain SAW amplitudes. X-ray diffraction spectra analysis makes it possible to determine SAW amplitudes and wavelengths, to measure the power flow angles, and investigate the diffraction divergence in acoustic beam in LGT.  相似文献

We demonstrate the manipulation of microcavity polaritons using tunable one-dimensional potentials formed by non-piezoelectric surface acoustic waves (SAWs). We compare the modulation of polaritons by piezoelectric and non-piezoelectric SAWs and show that the latter outperform the former for high acoustic powers. We directly show the formation of mini-Brillouin zones due to the lateral modulation with the periodicity of the SAW as well as the flattening of the lowest dispersion curve due to polariton confinement, showing the formation of polariton wires.  相似文献

We have studied the acoustoelectric (AE) effect produced by surface acoustic waves (SAW) in a monolithic layered structure, composed of a piezodielectric LiNbO3 substrate and a La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 film. The experiments unexpectedly revealed in the longitudinal AE effect an anomalous contribution, invariant upon reversal of SAW propagation, which coexists with the ordinary (odd in wave vector) effect. The anomalous effect dominates near the metal-insulator transition, while the ordinary effect prevails at high and low temperatures. We show that the anomalous effect is caused by strong modulation of the film conductivity produced by the SAW elastic deformations.  相似文献

We report on an experimental investigation of the direct current induced by transmitting a surface acoustic wave (SAW) with frequency 2.7 GHz through a quasi-one-dimensional (1D) channel defined in a GaAs - AlGaAs heterostructure by a split gate, when the SAW wavelength was approximately equal to the channel length. At low SAW power levels the current reveals oscillatory behaviour as a function of the gate voltage with maxima between the plateaux of quantized 1D conductance. At high SAW power levels, an acoustoelectric current was observed at gate voltages beyond pinch-off. In this region the current displays a step-like behaviour as a function of the gate voltage (or of the SAW power) with the magnitude corresponding to the transfer of one electron per SAW cycle. We interpret this as due to trapping of electrons in the moving SAW-induced potential minima with the number of electrons in each minimum being controlled by the electron - electron interactions. As the number of electrons is reduced, the classical Coulomb charging energy becomes the Mott - Hubbard gap between two electrons and finally the system becomes a sliding Mott insulator with one electron in each well.  相似文献

对于频率为几十赫兹的液体表面声波,实验上观察到反射光所形成的稳定、清晰的激光干涉图样.改变表面声波振幅,进一步发现了干涉图样的调制效应.调制效应明显地表现为干涉条纹的缺级,并且随表面声波振幅变化.依据波动光学原理,分析了调制作用下光束干涉所产生的光强解析分布及条纹特征,得到了干涉条纹角宽度与表面声波之间的解析关系,并据此对表面声波的特性参量波长和振幅及各级条纹相对光强分布规律进行了测定.  相似文献

Material transport in Al/Ti-finger electrodes on LiNbO3 substrates of power-loaded surface acoustic wave (SAW) structures were investigated under microscopic observation with respect to stress-induced material transport. Additionally, investigations were carried out before and after SAW loading during lifetime experiments. For the experiments, a special power SAW test structure was applied realizing travelling SAWs. The results show that the microstructure of the electrodes was damaged by void and hillock formation even at moderate input power. This changes the electrical and acoustical properties of the SAW structures irreversibly. The logarithmic time-to-failure (TTF) of damaged SAW structures depends linearly on loading time and rf power.  相似文献

We propose the ambipolar carrier transport by surface acoustic waves (SAWs) in a semiconductor quantum well (QW) for the realization of the Stern-Gerlach (SG) experiment in the solid phase. The well-defined and very low carrier velocity in the moving SAW field leads to a large deflection angle and thus to efficient spin separation, even for the weak field gradients and short (μm-long) interaction lengths that can be produced by micromagnets. The feasibility of a SG spin filter is discussed for different QW materials.  相似文献

传统的基于绝缘体上硅的Mach-Zehnder(MZ)声光调制器中,叉指换能器位于两臂的同一侧.为实现高的调制效率,声表面波的波峰和波谷分别调制MZ干涉仪的两臂,这要求控制MZ干涉仪两臂之间的距离为奇数倍声波半波长.但实际上由于传播过程中衬底材料的变化,声波波长会变大,这会导致两臂的间距难以准确设置.另一方面,声波在传播过程中经过MZ干涉仪的一臂后会发生衰减,降低了对另一臂的调制效果,影响了整体的调制效率.本文针对这些问题给出了一种解决方案,把叉指换能器放在MZ波导两臂之间,确保MZ干涉仪两臂到叉指电极中心距离相等.采用有限元法,首先对新提出的结构进行分析,然后通过声光互作用原理得到了材料的折射率变化;进而研究了波导类型、波导宽度、氧化锌厚度及叉指对数等因素对声光调制效率的影响,并对声光调制器的结构参数进行了优化以提高其性能.基于COMSOL Multiphysics的仿真结果表明,当条波导宽度为6μm,氧化锌只覆盖有叉指电极的部分且厚度为2.2μm,控制叉指电极数目为50对时,波导有效折射率变化在驱动电压为1 V时可以达到4.08×10~(-4),比传统结构提高了12%.  相似文献

结合声表面波和光致发光谱在低温(15K)下对非故意掺杂的GaAs(110)量子阱结构的发光特性进行了研究.实验结果表明,由于声表面波的作用GaAs(110)量子阱的发光强度减弱,并且其对应的重空穴能级出现了分裂的现象,当施加的声波强度Prf达到20dBm时,能级分裂ΔE达到了10meV.进一步讨论了声表面波对GaAs(110)量子阱圆偏振光自旋注入的影响. 关键词: 发光 GaAs量子阱 声表面波 自旋极化  相似文献

We have constructed a fast laser-based surface acoustic wave (SAW) microscope, which may be thought of as a non-perturbing scanning acoustic microscope. The instrument is capable of rapid high resolution vector contrast imaging at several discrete frequencies, without any damage to the sample. Tailoring the generating optical distribution using computer-generated holograms allows us to both focus the acoustic waves (increasing their amplitude) and to spread the optical power over the sample surface (preventing damage). Accurate quantitative amplitude and phase (velocity) measurements and unique acoustic contrast mechanisms are possible with our instrument based on this technology due to the non-perturbing nature and the instrument geometries.However, the complexity of the optical generation profile leads to a strong dependence on material properties such as the SAW velocity and material anisotropy. We address these issues in this paper, and demonstrate how a spatial light modulator may be used to adapt the generating optical distribution to compensate for the material properties. This facilitates simpler alignment and velocity matching, and, combined with an acoustic wavefront sensor, will allow real-time adjustment of the generating source to enable imaging on anisotropic materials.  相似文献

A method of rapid particle concentration in a droplet has been developed using surface acoustic wave (SAW) technology. A droplet was partially placed on a surface acoustic wave propagation path, and particles were concentrated at the center of the droplet due to the asymmetry. The device consists of two IDTs and two reflectors. The one IDT is used for generating SAW and the opposite IDT is used for detecting output voltage signal amplitude, and then for calculating acoustic power density of a droplet. To investigate concentration effect of the device, starch suspension and rabbit blood cells were used in this paper. Different acoustic power density was applied ranging from 6.13 mw mm−2 to 210.9 mw mm−2. The concentration process occurs within 15 s under appropriate acoustic power density put on the droplet, which is much faster than currently available particle concentration mechanisms, and the method is also efficient, which concentrating the particles into an aggregate about one-fifth the size of the original droplet. Additional, the concentration process is no damage to bioparticles. This concentration method can improve greatly SAW biosensor system sensitivity.  相似文献

The shift in the resonance frequency of a two-port quartz surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonator operating as a gas sensor without a selective layer is studied versus the power of an SAW excited in the resonator. At working frequencies of the resonator (≈389 MHz) placed in the flow of moisture-containing nitrogen gas, an anomalously large positive shift of the resonance frequency is observed as the SAW power exceeds 1 mW. This shift is one order of magnitude larger than that due to the nonlinear amplitude-frequency effect, which is known for quartz SAW resonators. Possible physical mechanisms underlying this phenomenon are analyzed. Experimental data indicate that such a shift is associated with the influence of a powerful SAW on sorption processes taking place on the active surface of the resonator rather than being a direct consequence of heating of the SAW substrate by the powerful SAW.  相似文献

开展了用于新型激光驱动马达的环形定子的激光致表面波机理及实验研究. 提出一种带有凹槽阵列结构的环形定子新设计, 建立了激光在环形定子表面激发表面波的物理模型, 揭示了影响表面波幅值的关键因素; 采用一种新颖的激光致表面波可视化探测方法, 在波长1053 nm, 脉宽30 ns, 单脉冲能量1 mJ的激光激发下, 对表面波在铜质环形定子表面的传播特性进行了可视化探测实验. 理论与实验研究表明: 当激发光斑的位置紧邻凹槽阵列时, 沿着圆环向凹槽方向传播的表面波会被齿状凹槽阵列迅速衰减和吸收, 而沿着圆环向远离凹槽方向传播的表面波能够持续传递, 从而首次实现了激光致表面波在环形定子上的单向传播; 而对没有凹槽阵列结构的圆环进行的对比实验表明, 激光致表面波在圆环表面双向传播, 最终因相互混叠和串扰等而处于混乱状态. 由激光在该种环形定子表面激发出的单向表面波, 可望在光致表面波马达及驱动机构中获得应用. 关键词: 激光致表面波 环形定子 表面波可视化 激光驱动  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the intermediate frequency (IF) signal up-conversion with dual modes modulation (DMM) and single-mode modulation (SMM) of two single sideband (SSB) modulation modes for radio-over-fiber (RoF) systems. The simulation results indicate that the SMM can overcome the dispersion-induced power penalties of the generated carrier and up-converted IF signals. Then, we experimentally demonstrate an approach for RF carrier generation with SSB modulation and IF signal up-conversion with SMM using a combination of direct modulation in an injection-locked distributed feedback (DFB) laser and stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). The experimental results are compared with the predictions of the numerical simulation in SMM condition, and both are in good agreement with each other. The advantages and limits of the proposed method are discussed.  相似文献

A dual frequency mixing technique has been developed for measuring velocity changes caused by material nonlinearity. The technique is based on the parametric interaction between two surface acoustic waves (SAWs): The low frequency pump SAW generated by a transducer and the high frequency probe SAW generated and detected using laser ultrasonics. The pump SAW stresses the material under the probe SAW. The stress (typically <5 MPa) is controlled by varying the timing between the pump and probe waves. The nonlinear interaction is measured as a phase modulation of the probe SAW and equated to a velocity change. The velocity-stress relationship is used as a measure of material nonlinearity. Experiments were conducted to observe the pump-probe interaction by changing the pump frequency and compare the nonlinear response of aluminum and fused silica. Experiments showed these two materials had opposite nonlinear responses, consistent with previously published data. The technique could be applied to life-time predictions of engineered components by measuring changes in nonlinear response caused by fatigue.  相似文献
