In this paper, thermal buckling and free vibration of orthogonally stiffened functionally graded truncated conical shells in thermal environment is investigated. Conical shell has been stiffened by rings and stringers, and the influences of the stiffeners are evaluated by the aid of smearing method. The material properties of the structure are assumed to be changed continuously in the thickness direction. First, the initial thermal stresses are obtained accurately by solving the thermoelastic equilibrium equations. Then, by taking into account the initial thermal stresses, equations of motion as well as boundary conditions are obtained, applying the Hamilton’s principle and the first-order shear deformation theory. The natural frequencies of the system have been achieved, solving these governing equations with considering Differential Quadrature Method (DQM). In addition to Eigen frequency analysis, the critical buckling-temperature of the conical shell has been computed. Moreover, the effects of geometrical parameters, number of stiffeners, thermal environment and various boundary conditions on natural frequency of the system have been investigated. Finally, in order to validate the present work, the results are compared with those of other researches available in literature.  相似文献

Free vibration analysis of functionally graded (FG) thin-to-moderately thick annular plates subjected to thermal environment and supported on two-parameter elastic foundation is investigated. The material properties are assumed to be temperature-dependent and graded in the thickness direction. The equations of motion and the related boundary conditions, which include the effects of initial thermal stresses, are derived using the Hamilton’s principle based on the first order shear deformation theory (FSDT). The initial thermal stresses are obtained by solving the thermoelastic equilibrium equations. Differential quadrature method (DQM) as an efficient and accurate numerical tool is adopted to solve the thermoelastic equilibrium equations and the equations of motion. The formulations are validated by comparing the results in the limit cases with the available solutions in the literature for isotropic and FG circular and annular plates. The effects of the temperature rise, elastic foundation coefficients, the material graded index and different geometrical parameters on the frequency parameters of the FG annular plates are investigated. The new results can be used as benchmark solutions for future researches.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, three-dimensional static and free vibration analysis of functionally graded graphene platelets-reinforced composite (FG-GPLRC) truncated conical shells, cylindrical shells and annular plates with various boundary conditions is carried out within the framework of elasticity theory. The main contribution of the present work is that formulation for free vibration and bending behavior of the FG-GPLRC truncated conical shell based on theory of elasticity has not yet been reported. Additionally, formulation and solution for cylindrical shell and annular plate are derived by changing the semi vertex angle in formulation and solution of FG-GPLRC truncated conical shell. A semi-analytical solution is proposed base on employing differential quadrature method (DQM) together with state-space technique. Validity of current approach is assessed by comparing its numerical results with those available in the literature. An especial attention is drawn to the role of GPLs weight fraction, patterns of GPLs distribution through the thickness direction, geometrical parameters such as semi-vertex angle, length to mid-radius ratio on natural frequencies and bending characteristics. Numerical results reveal that desirable static and free vibration response (such as lower radial deflection and higher natural frequencies) can be achieved by locating more square shaped GPLs near inner and outer surfaces.  相似文献

In this paper, the governing equations for non-linear free vibration of truncated, thin, laminated, orthotropic conical shells using the theory of large deformations with the Karman-Donnell-type of kinematic nonlinearity are derived. Applying superposition principle and Galerkin’s method, these equations are reduced to a time dependent non-linear differential equation. The frequency-amplitude relationship for the laminated orthotropic thin truncated conical shell is obtained using the method of weighted residuals. In the particular case, we can obtain the similar relationships for the single-layer and laminated orthotropic cylindrical shells, also. The influence played by geometrical parameters of the conical shell and physical parameters of the laminate (i.e. material properties, staking sequences and number of layers) on the non-linear vibration behavior of the conical shell is examined. It is noticed that the non-linear vibration of shells is highly dependent on laminate characteristics and, from these observations, it is concluded that specific configurations of laminates should be designed for each kind of application. Present results are compared with available data for special cases.  相似文献

In the current dynamic model of rotating truncated conical shells, the expressions of centrifugal and coriolis accelerations and initial hoop tension were incomplete and some terms were missing. This might cause the frequency characteristics of rotating conical shells to be overestimated (or underestimated). Therefore, the effects of rotation upon frequency characteristics of rotating truncated conical shell are studied in the paper. Accurate expressions of centrifugal and coriolis accelerations and initial hoop tension are derived, and then a modified dynamic model for the rotating truncated conical shell is presented. The generalized differential quadrature method is utilized to obtain the natural frequencies. The influences of various boundary conditions and rotating speed on the free vibration of the conical shell are discussed in detail. Through comparison analysis, the errors in current model are also pointed out.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the free vibration analysis of thick, rotating laminated composite conical shells with different boundary conditions based on the three-dimensional theory, using the layerwise differential quadrature method (LW-DQM). The equations of motion are derived applying the Hamilton’s principle. In order to accurately account for the thickness effects, the layerwise theory is used to discretize the equations of motion and the related boundary conditions through the thickness of the shells. Then, the equations of motion as well as the boundary condition equations are transformed into a set of algebraic equation applying the DQM in the meridional direction. This study demonstrates the applicability, accuracy, stability and the fast rate of convergence of the present method, for free vibration analyses of rotating thick laminated conical shells. The presented results are compared with those of other shell theories obtained using conventional methods and a special case where the angle of the conical shell approaches zero, that is, a cylindrical shell and excellent agreements are achieved.  相似文献

Buckling and postbuckling characteristics of laminated graphene-enhanced composite (GEC) truncated conical shells exposed to torsion under temperature conditions using finite element method (FEM) simulation are presented in this study. In the thickness direction, the GEC layers of the conical shell are ordered in a piece-wise arrangement of functionally graded (FG) distribution, with each layer containing a variable volume fraction for graphene reinforcement. To calculate the properties of temperature-dependent material of GEC layers, the extended Halpin-Tsai micromechanical framework is used. The FEM model is verified via comparing the current results obtained with the theoretical estimates for homogeneous, laminated cylindrical, and conical shells, the FEM model is validated. The computational results show that a piece-wise FG graphene volume fraction distribution can improve the torque of critical buckling and torsional postbuckling strength. Also, the geometric parameters have a critical impact on the stability of the conical shell. However, a temperature rise can reduce the crucial torsional buckling torque as well as the GEC laminated truncated conical shell's postbuckling strength.  相似文献

A Donnell type theory is developed for finite deflection of closely stiffened truncatedlaminated composite conical shells under arbitrary loads by using the variational calculusand smeared-stiffener theory. The most general bending-stretching coupling and the effectof eccentricity of stiffeners are considered. The equilibrium equations, boundary conditionsand the equation of compatibility are derived. The new equations.of the mixed-type ofstiffened laminated composite conical shells are obtained in terms of the transversedeflection and stress function. The simplified equations are also given for some commonlyencountered cases.  相似文献

Thermally induced dynamic instability of laminated composite conical shells is investigated by means of a perturbation method. The laminated composite conical shells are subjected to static and periodic thermal loads. The linear instability approach is adopted in the present study. A set of initial membrane stresses due to the elevated temperature field is assumed to exist just before the instability occurs. The formulation begins with three-dimensional equations of motion in terms of incremental stresses perturbed from the state of neutral equilibrium. After proper nondimensionalization, asymptotic expansion and successive integration, we obtain recursive sets of differential equations at various levels. The method of multiple scales is used to eliminate the secular terms and make an asymptotic expansion feasible. Using the method of differential quadrature and Bolotin's method, and imposing the orthonormality and solvability conditions on the present asymptotic formulation, we determine the boundary frequencies of dynamic instability regions for various orders in a consistent and hierarchical manner. The principal instability regions of cross-ply conical shells with simply supported–simply supported boundary conditions are studied to demonstrate the performance of the present asymptotic theory.  相似文献

In this paper, the free vibration and buckling of laminated homogeneous and non-homogeneous orthotropic truncated conical shells under lateral and hydrostatic pressures are studied. At first, the basic relations, the modified Donnell type dynamic stability and compatibility equations have been obtained for laminated orthotropic truncated conical shells, the Young's moduli and density of which vary piecewise continuously in the thickness direction. Applying superposition and Galerkin methods to the foregoing equations, the buckling pressures and dimensionless frequency parameter of laminated homogeneous and non-homogeneous orthotropic conical shells are obtained. The appropriate formulas for single-layer and laminated cylindrical shells made of homogeneous and non-homogeneous, orthotropic and isotropic materials are found as a special case. Finally, the effects of the number and ordering of layers, the variations of conical shell characteristics, together and separately variations of the Young's moduli and densities of the materials of layers on the critical lateral and hydrostatic pressures, and frequency parameter are found for different mode numbers. The results are compared with other works.  相似文献

This research investigates three-dimensional free vibration analysis of four-parameter continuous grading fiber reinforced (CGFR) cylindrical panels resting on Pasternak foundations by using generalized power-law distribution. The functionally graded orthotropic panel is simply supported at the edges, and it is assumed to have an arbitrary variation of matrix volume fraction in the radial direction. A four-parameter power-law distribution presented in literature is proposed. Symmetric and asymmetric volume fraction profiles are presented. Suitable displacement functions that identically satisfy the boundary conditions at the simply supported edges are used to reduce the equilibrium equations to a set of coupled ordinary differential equations with variable coefficients, which are solved by generalized differential quadrature method, and natural frequency is obtained. The fast rate of convergence of the method is demonstrated, and to validate the results, comparisons are made with the available solutions for functionally graded isotropic shells with/without elastic foundations. The effect of the elastic foundation stiffness parameters and various geometrical parameters on the vibration behavior of the CGFR cylindrical panels is investigated. This work mainly contributes to illustrate the influence of the four parameters of power-law distributions on the vibration behavior of functionally graded orthotropic cylindrical panels resting on elastic foundation. This paper is also supposed to present useful results for continuous grading of matrix volume fraction in the thickness direction of a cylindrical panel on elastic foundation and comparison with similar discrete laminated composite cylindrical panel.  相似文献

Abstract

On the basis of Reissner’s mixed variational theorem, the authors develop a semianalytical finite annular prism method (FAPM) for three-dimensional (3D) stress and deformation analyses of bi-directional functionally graded (FG) truncated conical shells with various boundary conditions subjected to either uniformly or sinusoidally distributed loads. The material properties of the FG-truncated conical shell are assumed to obey a bi-directional power-law distribution of the volume fractions of the constituents through the meridian–thickness surface, the effective material properties of which are estimated using the rule of mixtures. Implementation of the current FAPMs shows their solutions converge rapidly and that the convergent solutions are in excellent agreement with the 3D solutions available in the literature.  相似文献

In this paper, an analytical procedure is given to study the free vibration of the laminated homogeneous and non-homogeneous orthotropic conical shells with freely supported edges. The basic relations, the modified Donnell type motion and compatibility equations have been derived for laminated orthotropic truncated conical shells with variable Young’s moduli and densities in the thickness direction of the layers. By applying the Galerkin method, to the basic equations, the expressions for the dimensionless frequency parameter of the laminated homogeneous and non-homogeneous orthotropic truncated conical shells are obtained. The appropriate formulas for the single-layer and laminated complete conical and cylindrical shells made of homogeneous and non-homogeneous, orthotropic and isotropic materials are found as a special case. Finally, the influences of the non-homogeneity, the number and ordering of layers and the variations of the conical shell characteristics on the dimensionless frequency parameter are investigated. The results obtained for homogeneous cases are compared with their counterparts in the literature.  相似文献

In this study, the torsional vibration and stability problems of functionally graded (FG) orthotropic cylindrical shells in the elastic medium, using the Galerkin method was investigated. Pasternak model is used to describe the reaction of the elastic medium on the cylindrical shell. Mixed boundary conditions are considered. The material properties and density of the orthotropic cylindrical shell are assumed to vary exponentially in the thickness direction. The basic equations of the FG orthotropic cylindrical shell under the torsional load resting on the Pasternak-type elastic foundation are derived. The expressions for the critical torsional load and dimensionless torsional frequency parameter of the FG orthotropic cylindrical shell resting on elastic foundations are obtained. The effects of variations of shell parameters, the exponential factor characterizing the degree of material gradient, orthotropy, foundation stiffness and shear subgrade modulus of the foundation on the critical torsional load and dimensionless torsional frequency parameter are examined.  相似文献

A three-dimensional (3D) free vibration analysis of simply supported, doubly curved functionally graded (FG) magneto-electro-elastic shells with closed-circuit surface conditions is presented using the method of perturbation. By means of the direct elimination, we firstly reduce the twenty-nine basic equations of 3D magneto-electro-elasticity to ten differential equations in terms of ten primary variables of magnetic, electric and elastic fields. The method of multiple scales is introduced to eliminate the secular terms in various order problems of the present formulation so that the present asymptotic expansion to the primary field variables leads to be uniform and feasible. Through the mathematical manipulation of nondimensionalization, asymptotic expansion and successive integration, we finally obtain recurrent sets of governing equations for various order problems. The coupled classical shell theory (CST) is derived as a first-order approximation to the 3D magneto-electro-elasticity. Higher-order modifications can be further determined by considering the solvability and orthonormality conditions in a systematic and consistent way. Some benchmark solutions for the free vibration analysis of FG elastic and piezoelectric plates are used to validate the performance of the present asymptotic formulation. The influence of the material-property gradient index on the natural frequencies and corresponding modal field variables of the FG shells is mainly concerned.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the transient deformation of functionally graded (FG) shallow spherical shells subjected to time-dependent thermomechanical load. Based on Timoshenko- Mindlin hypothesis and yon Karman nonlinear theory, a set of nonlinear governing equations of motion for FG shallow spherical shells in regard to transverse shear deformation and all the inertia terms are established using Hamilton's principle. The collocation point method and Newmark- beta scheme in conjunction with the finite difference method are adopted to solve the governing equations of motion and the unsteady heat conduction equation numerically. In the numerical examples, the transient deflection and stresses of FG shallow spherical shells with various material properties under different loading conditions are presented.  相似文献
