The CH3(X2A1)+SH(X2Pi) channel of the photodissociation of CH3SH has been investigated at several wavelengths in the first 1 1A"<--X 1A' and second 2 1A"<--X1A' absorption bands by means of velocity map imaging of the CH3 fragment. A fast highly anisotropic (beta=-1+/-0.1) CH3(X2A1) signal has been observed in the images at all the photolysis wavelengths studied, which is consistent with a direct dissociation process from an electronically excited state by cleavage of the C-S bond in the parent molecule. From the analysis of the CH3 images, vibrational populations of the SH(X2Pi) counterfragment have been extracted. In the second absorption band, the SH fragment is formed with an inverted vibrational distribution as a consequence of the forces acting in the crossing from the bound 2 1A" second excited state to the unbound 1 1A" first excited state. The internal energy of the SH radical increases as the photolysis wavelength decreases. In the case of photodissociation via the first excited state, the direct production of CH3 leaves the SH counterfragment with little internal excitation. Moreover, at the longer photolysis wavelengths corresponding to excitation to the 1 1A" state, a slower anisotropic CH3 channel has been observed (beta=-0.8+/-0.1) consistent with a two step photodissociation process, where the first step corresponds to the production of CH3S(X2E) radicals via cleavage of the S-H bond in CH3SH, followed by photodissociation of the nascent CH3S radicals yielding CH3(X2A1)+S(X3P0,1,2).  相似文献

Ultraviolet (UV) photodissociation dynamics of jet-cooled benzyl radical via the 4(2)B(2) electronically excited state is studied in the photolysis wavelength region of 228 to 270 nm using high-n Rydberg atom time-of-flight (HRTOF) and resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) techniques. In this wavelength region, H-atom photofragment yield (PFY) spectra are obtained using ethylbenzene and benzyl chloride as the precursors of benzyl radical, and they have a broad peak centered around 254 nm and are in a good agreement with the previous UV absorption spectra of benzyl. The H + C(7)H(6) product translational energy distributions, P(E(T))s, are derived from the H-atom TOF spectra. The P(E(T)) distributions peak near 5.5 kcal mol(-1), and the fraction of average translational energy in the total excess energy, , is ~0.3. The P(E(T))s indicate the production of fulvenallene + H, which was suggested by recent theoretical studies. The H-atom product angular distribution is isotropic, with the anisotropy parameter β ≈ 0. The H/D product ratios from isotope labeling studies using C(6)H(5)CD(2) and C(6)D(5)CH(2) are reasonably close to the statistical H/D ratios, suggesting that the H/D atoms are scrambled in the photodissociation of benzyl. The dissociation mechanism is consistent with internal conversion of the electronically excited benzyl followed by unimolecular decomposition of the hot benzyl radical on the ground state.  相似文献

The relevant excited states involved in the photolysis of methylcobalamin (MeCbl) have been examined by means of time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT). The low-lying singlet and triplet excited states have been calculated along the Co-C bond at the TD-DFT/BP86/6-31g(d) level of theory in order to investigate the dissociation process of MeCbl. These calculations have shown that the photodissociation is mediated by the repulsive 3(sigmaCo-C --> sigma*Co-C) triplet state. The key metastable photoproduct involved in Co-C bond photolysis was identified as an S1 state having predominantly dCo --> pi*corrin metal-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) character.  相似文献

A combination of velocity map imaging and slicing techniques have been used to measure the product recoil anisotropy and angular momentum polarization for the photodissociation process I2-->I(2P(3/2))+I(2P(3/2)) and I2-->I(2P(3/2)))+I(2P(1/2)) in the 450-510 nm laser wavelength region using linearly polarized photolysis and probe laser light. The former channel is produced predominantly via perpendicular excitation to the 1Piu state, and the latter is predominantly parallel, via the B 3Pi(0u)+ state. In both cases we observe mostly adiabatic dissociation, which produces electronically aligned iodine atoms in the mid /m/=1/2 states with respect to the recoil direction.  相似文献

Velocity imaging technique combined with (2 + 1) resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) has been used to detect the Br fragment in photodissociation of o-, m-, and p-bromofluorobenzene at 266 nm. The branching ratio of ground state Br(2P3/2) is found to be larger than 96%. Its translational energy distributions suggest that the Br fragments are generated via two dissociation channels for all the molecules. The fast route, which is missing in p-bromofluorobenzene detected previously by femtosecond laser spectroscopy, giving rise to an anisotropy parameter of 0.50-0.65, is attributed to a direct dissociation from a repulsive triplet T1(A' ') or T1(B1) state. The slow one with anisotropy parameter close to zero is proposed to stem from excitation of the lowest excited singlet (pi,pi*)state followed by predissociation along a repulsive triplet (pi,sigma*) state localized on the C-Br bond. For the minor product of spin-orbit excited state Br(2P1/2), the dissociating features are similar to those found in Br(2P3/2). Our kinetic and anisotropic features of decomposition obtained in m- and p-bromofluorobenzene are opposed to those by photofragment translational spectroscopy. Discrepancy between different methods is discussed in detail.  相似文献

The photoinduced hydrogen (or deuterium) detachment reaction of thiophenol (C(6)H(5)SH) or thiophenol-d(1) (C(6)H(5)SD) pumped at 243 nm has been investigated using the H (D) ion velocity map imaging technique. Photodissociation products, corresponding to the two distinct and anisotropic rings observed in the H (or D) ion images, are identified as the two lowest electronic states of phenylthiyl radical (C(6)H(5)S). Ab initio calculations show that the singly occupied molecular orbital of the phenylthiyl radical is localized on the sulfur atom and it is oriented either perpendicular or parallel to the molecular plane for the ground (B(1)) and the first excited state (B(2)) species, respectively. The experimental energy separation between these two states is 2600+/-200 cm(-1) in excellent agreement with the authors' theoretical prediction of 2674 cm(-1) at the CASPT2 level. The experimental anisotropy parameter (beta) of -1.0+/-0.05 at the large translational energy of D from the C(6)H(5)SD dissociation indicates that the transition dipole moment associated with this optical transition at 243 nm is perpendicular to the dissociating S-D bond, which in turn suggests an ultrafast D+C(6)H(5)S(B(1)) dissociation channel on a repulsive potential energy surface. The reduced anisotropy parameter of -0.76+/-0.04 observed at the smaller translational energy of D suggests that the D+C(6)H(5)S(B(2)) channel may proceed on adiabatic reaction paths resulting from the coupling of the initially excited state to other low-lying electronic states encountered along the reaction coordinate. Detailed high level ab initio calculations adopting multireference wave functions reveal that the C(6)H(5)S(B(1)) channel may be directly accessed via a (1)(n(pi),sigma(*)) photoexcitation at 243 nm while the key feature of the photodissociation dynamics of the C(6)H(5)S(B(2)) channel is the involvement of the (3)(n(pi),pi(*))-->(3)(n(sigma),sigma(*)) profile as well as the spin-orbit induced avoided crossing between the ground and the (3)(n(pi),sigma(*)) state. The S-D bond dissociation energy of thiophenol-d(1) is accurately estimated to be D(0)=79.6+/-0.3 kcalmol. The S-H bond dissociation energy is also estimated to give D(0)=76.8+/-0.3 kcalmol, which is smaller than previously reported ones by at least 2 kcalmol. The C-H bond of the benzene moiety is found to give rise to the H fragment. Ring opening reactions induced by the pi-pi(*)n(pi)-pi(*) transitions followed by internal conversion may be responsible for the isotropic broad translational energy distribution of fragments.  相似文献

The SH + CH(3) product channel for the photodissociation of CH(3)SH at 204 nm was investigated using the sliced velocity map ion imaging technique with the detection of CH(3) products using state selective (2+1) resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI). Images were measured for CH(3) formed in the ground and excited vibrational states (v(2) = 0, 1, and 2) of the umbrella mode from which the correlated SH vibrational state distributions were determined. The vibrational distribution of the SH fragment in the SH + CH(3) channel at 204 nm is clearly inverted and peaks at v = 1. The highly negative anisotropy parameter of the CH(3) (v(2) = 0, 1, and 2) products is indicative of a fast dissociation process for C-S bond cleavage. Two kinds of slower CH(3) products were also observed (one of which was partly vibrationally resolved) that are assigned to a two-step photodissociation processes, in which the first step is the production of the CH(3)S (X(2)E) radical via cleavage of the S-H bond in CH(3)SH, followed by probe laser photodissociation of nascent CH(3)S radicals yielding CH(3)(X(2)A(1), v(2) = 0-2) + S((3)P(j)/(1)D) products.  相似文献

The H+N3 channel in the ultraviolet photodissociation of HN3 has been investigated from 190 nm to 248 nm using the high-n Rydberg H-atom time-of-°ight technique. Product translational energy distributions as well as product angular anisotropy parameters were determined for the H+N3 channel at di?erent photolysis wavelengths. N3 vibrational state distribution has also been derived from the product translational energy distribution at these wavelengths. Above photolysis wavelength 225 nm, HN3 predominantly dissociatethrough the repulsive state. Below 225 nm, a new slow channel starts to appear at 220 nm in addition to the existing channel. This channel is attributed to a ring closure dissociation channel to produce the cyclic N3 product. As photolysis energy increases, this new channel becomes more important.  相似文献

Ultraviolet (UV) photodissociation dynamics of jet-cooled phenyl radicals (C(6)H(5) and C(6)D(5)) are studied in the photolysis wavelength region of 215-268 nm using high-n Rydberg atom time-of-flight and resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization techniques. The phenyl radicals are produced from 193-nm photolysis of chlorobenzene and bromobenzene precursors. The H-atom photofragment yield spectra have a broad peak centered around 235 nm and are in good agreement with the UV absorption spectra of phenyl. The H + C(6)H(4) product translational energy distributions, P(E(T))'s, peak near ~7 kcal/mol, and the fraction of average translational energy in the total excess energy, , is in the range of 0.20-0.35 from 215 to 268 nm. The H-atom product angular distribution is isotropic. The dissociation rates are in the range of 10(7)-10(8) s(-1) with internal energy from 30 to 46 kcal/mol above the threshold of the lowest energy channel H + o-C(6)H(4) (ortho-benzyne), comparable with the rates from the Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus theory. The results from the fully deuterated phenyl radical are identical. The dissociation mechanism is consistent with production of H + o-C(6)H(4), as the main channel from unimolecular decomposition of the ground electronic state phenyl radical following internal conversion of the electronically excited state.  相似文献

The photodissociation of (56)FeO was studied by means of the velocity map imaging technique. A molecular beam of iron atoms and iron monoxide molecules was created using an electrical discharge with an iron electrode in a supersonic expansion of molecular oxygen. The ground state iron atom Fe((5)D(4)) and FeO concentrations in the molecular beam have been estimated. The dissociation energy of the FeO X (5)Delta ground electronic state was found to be D(0) (0)(FeO)=4.18+/-0.01 eV. The effective absorption cross section of FeO at 252.39 nm (vac), leading to the Fe((5)D(4))+O((3)P) dissociation channel, is approximately 1.2 x 10(-18) cm(2). A (1+1) resonantly enhanced multiphoton ionization spectrum of (56)FeO in the region 39 550-39 580 cm(-1) with rotational structure has been observed, but not assigned. Angular distributions of Fe((5)D(4)) and Fe((5)D(3)) products for the channel FeO-->Fe((5)D(4,3))+O((3)P) have been measured at several points in the 210-260 nm laser light wavelength region. The anisotropy parameter varies strongly with wavelength for both channels.  相似文献

Ultraviolet photodissociation of SH (X 2Pi, upsilon"=2-7) and SD (X 2Pi, upsilon"=3-7) has been studied at 288 and 291 nm, using the velocity map imaging technique to probe the angular and speed distributions of the S(1D2) products. Photodissociation cross sections for the A 2Sigma+<--X 2Pi(upsilon") and 2Delta<--X 2Pi(upsilon") transitions have been obtained by ab initio calculations at the CASSCF-MRSDCI/aug-cc-pV5Z level of theory. Both the experimental and theoretical results show that SH/SD photodissociation from X 2Pi (upsilon"相似文献

The photodissociation of rotationally state-selected methyl bromide is studied in the wavelength region between 213 and 235 nm using slice imaging. A hexapole state selector is used to focus a single (JK=11) rotational quantum state of the parent molecule, and a high speed slice imaging detector measures directly the three-dimensional recoil distribution of the methyl fragment. Experiments were performed on both normal (CH(3)Br) and deuterated (CD(3)Br) parent molecules. The velocity distribution of the methyl fragment shows a rich structure, especially for the CD(3) photofragment, assigned to the formation of vibrationally excited methyl fragments in the nu(1) and nu(4) vibrational modes. The CH(3) fragment formed with ground state Br((2)P(3/2)) is observed to be rotationally more excited, by some 230-340 cm(-1), compared to the methyl fragment formed with spin-orbit excited Br((2)P(1/2)). Branching ratios and angular distributions are obtained for various methyl product states and they are observed to vary with photodissociation energy. The nonadiabatic transition probability for the (3)Q(0+)-->(1)Q(1) transition is calculated from the images and differences between the isotopes are observed. Comparison with previous non-state-selected experiments indicates an enhanced nonadiabatic transition probability for state-selected K=1 methyl bromide parent molecules. From the state-to-state photodissociation experiments the dissociationenergy for both isotopes was determined, D(0)(CH(3)Br)=23 400+/-133 cm(-1) and D(0)(CD(3)Br)=23 827+/-94 cm(-1).  相似文献

We report the vibrationally mediated photodissociation dynamics of C2H4+ excited through the B2Ag state. Vibrational state-selected ions were prepared by two-photon resonant, three-photon ionization of ethylene via (pi, 3s) and (pi, 3p) Rydberg intermediate states in the wavelength range 298-349 nm. Absorption of a fourth photon led to dissociation of the cation, and images of the product ions C2H3+ and C2H2+ were simultaneously recorded using reflectron multimass velocity map imaging. Analysis of the multimass images yielded, with high precision, both the total translational energy distributions for the two dissociation channels and the branching between them as a function of excitation energy. The dissociation of ions that were initially prepared with torsional excitation exceeding the barrier to planarity in the cation ground state consistently gave enhanced branching to the H elimination channel. The results are discussed in terms of the influence of the initial state preparation on the competition between the internal conversion to the ground state and to the first excited state.  相似文献

The dynamics of photodissociation of glyoxal (HOC-COH) near the dissociation threshold on the triplet manifold are studied through measurement of distributions of nascent fragment HCO in various internal states. Three rotational levels 1(01) (*), 4(13) (*), and 3(21) (*)+3(22) (*) of vibrational state U (excitation wavelength approximately 394.4 nm, origin at 25,331.865 cm(-1)) of glyoxal in state A (1)A(u) and two other vibrational states at excitation wavelengths 390.33 and 382.65 nm are selected to produce fragment HCO. By means of fluorescence in the transition B (2)A(')-X (2)A(') of HCO, we determined the relative populations of internal states of that fragment. Rotational states of product HCO up to N=26 and K=2 are populated, and bimodal distributions of these rotational states are observed for the photolysis wavelengths used in this work. The high rotational part of the distribution with average energy near values calculated on the basis of the statistical model-phase-space theory is assigned to arise from glyoxal on its S(0) surface, and the low rotational part from the T(1) surface with an exit barrier. After photolysis near the threshold region on the triplet surface, HCO arising from the T(1) state appears to be a major component of products because these rotational levels 1(01) (*), 4(13) (*), and 3(2) (*) of U state selected are gateway states with an enhanced rate of intersystem crossing.  相似文献

The vibrationally mediated photodissociation of CS(2)(+) cations via the A(2)Π(u)(ν(1),ν(2),0) state has been studied by means of the velocity map ion imaging technique. The measurements were made with a double resonance strategy. The CS(2)(+) cations were prepared by a (3 + 1) resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization method. The photo-fragment excitation spectrum of S(+) was recorded by scanning the photolysis laser via the A(2)Π(u)(ν(1),ν(2),0) state. By fixing the photolysis laser wavelength at the specific vibrational state, the (1 + 1) photodissociation images of S(+) photofragments from numerous vibrationally mediated states have been accumulated. The translational energy release spectra derived from the resulting images imply that the co-fragments, CS radicals, are both vibrationally and rotationally excited. The one-photon photodissociation without the vibrational state selection has also been performed. Comparing the vibrationally mediated photodissociation with one-photon photodissociation observations, clear evidence of vibrational state control of the photodissociation process is observed.  相似文献

C(2)H(3)(35)Cl+ in the ground vibronic state was generated by one-photon mass-analyzed threshold ionization spectrometry, and its photodissociation in the 461-406 nm range was investigated. Ionization energy to the ground state of C(2)H(3)(35)Cl+ was 10.0062 +/- 0.0006 eV while its B state onset was higher by 2.7456 +/- 0.0003 eV. A vibrational spectrum of the cation in the B state obtained by recording the product ion yield as a function of wavelength was analyzed by referring to the quantum chemical results at the TDDFT/B3LYP/6-311++(df,pd) level. Analysis of product time-of-flight profiles recorded with different laser polarization angles showed that the dissociation pathway for the cation in the B state changed with the vibrational energy, from internal conversion to X and statistical dissociation therein to curve crossing to C and repulsive dissociation therein. B --> C curve crossing seemed to occur along a direction close to the C-Cl bond stretch.  相似文献

The speed averaged translational anisotropy and electronic angular momentum polarization of the O(1D2) atomic fragment formed from the photodissociation of ozone in the atmospherically important long wavelength region of the Hartley band (298 to 320 nm) have been measured using resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization time of flight mass spectrometry. The translational anisotropy parameter, beta, is found to decline from 1.1 for photolysis at 300 nm to a minimum value of 0 at 310 nm which is the threshold for production of O(1D2) in conjunction with the O2(a 1Deltag v = 0) molecular cofragment. For photolysis wavelengths greater than 310 nm, O(1D2) is formed from the dissociation of internally excited ozone molecules. The corresponding beta parameters are markedly lower than for atomic fragments produced with the same speed from the photolysis of ground state ozone molecules. This result is consistent with two different pathways contributing to the photolysis of internally excited ozone at the longest wavelengths studied corresponding to initial internal excitation either in the symmetric or asymmetric stretching vibration. In addition, the polarization of the atomic angular momentum has been determined with the incoherent polarization parameters a0(2)(||) and a0(2)(_|) increasing from values of -0.53 and -0.62 at 300 nm to -0.37 and -0.19 at 317 nm, consistent with the increasing contribution from the photolysis of internally excited ozone as the dissociation wavelength lengthens. Evaluation of these alignment parameters allows the populations of the magnetic substrates, mj, to be determined. For example, for a photolysis wavelength of 303 nm the populations of mj = 0, +/- 1, +/- 2 are in the ratio of 0.36: 0.56: 0.08 and this ratio is essentially independent of the photolysis wavelength. The coherent contribution to the atomic polarization is quantified by the Re{a1(2)(||, _|)} and Im{a1(1)(||, _|)} parameters and these are found to vary from -0.21 and 0.21 at 300 nm to -0.04 and 0.24 at 313 nm, respectively.  相似文献

The photodissociation dynamics of acetaldehyde in the radical channel CH3+HCO has been reinvestigated using time-sliced velocity map imaging technique in the photolysis wavelength range of 275-321 nm. The CH3 fragments have been probed via (2+1) resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization. Images are measured for CH3 formed in the ground and excited states (v2=0 and 1) of the umbrella vibrational mode. For acetaldehyde dissociation on T1 state after intersystem crossing from S1 state, the products are formed with high translational energy release and low internal excitation. The rotational and vibrational energy of both fragments increases with increasing photodissociation energy. The triplet barrier height is estimated at 3.8814-0.006 eV above the ground state of acetaldehyde.  相似文献

The experimental techniques of H (Rydberg) atom photofragment translational spectroscopy and resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionisation time-of-flight spectroscopy have been used to investigate the dynamics of H atom loss processes from gas phase 4-fluorophenol (4-FPhOH), 4-chlorophenol (4-ClPhOH) and 4-bromophenol (4-BrPhOH) molecules, following excitation at many wavelengths, lambda(phot), in the range between their respective S(1)-S(0) origins (284.768 nm, 287.265 nm and 287.409 nm) and 216 nm. Many of the Total Kinetic Energy Release (TKER) spectra obtained from photolysis of 4-FPhOH show structure, the analysis of which reveals striking parallels with that reported previously for photolysis of bare phenol (M. G. D. Nix, A. L. Devine, B. Cronin, R. N. Dixon and M. N. R. Ashfold, J. Chem. Phys., 2006, 125, 133318). The data demonstrates the importance of O-H bond fission, and that the resulting 4-FPhO co-fragments are formed in a select fraction of their available vibrational state density. All spectra recorded at lambda(phot)> or = 238 nm show a feature centred at TKER approximately 5500 cm(-1). These H atom fragments show no recoil anisotropy, and are rationalised in terms of initial S(1)<-- S(0) (pi* <--pi) excitation and subsequent dissociation via two successive radiationless transitions: internal conversion to ground (S(0)) state levels carrying sufficient O-H stretch vibrational energy to allow efficient transfer to (and round) the Conical Intersection (CI) between the S(0) and S(2)((1)pi sigma*) Potential Energy Surfaces (PESs) at larger R(O-H), en route to H atoms and ground state 4-FPhO products. The vibrational energy disposal in the 4-FPhO products indicates that parent mode nu(16a) promotes non-adiabatic coupling at the S(0)/S(2) CI. Spectra recorded at lambda(phot)< or = 238 nm reveal a faster (but still isotropic) distribution of recoiling H atoms, centred at TKER approximately 12 000 cm(-1), attributable to H + 4-FPhO products formed when the optically excited (1)pi pi* molecules couple directly with the (1)pi sigma* PES. Parent mode nu(16b) is identified as the dominant coupling mode at the S(1)((1)pi pi*)/S(2)((1)pi sigma*) CI, and the resulting 4-FPhO radical co-fragments display progressions in nu(18b) (the C-O in-plane wagging mode) and nu(7a) (an in-plane ring breathing mode involving significant C-O stretching motion). Analysis of all structured TKER spectra yields a C-F bond dissociation energy: D(0)(H-OC(6)H(4)F) = 29 370 +/- 50 cm(-1). The photodissociation of 4-ClPhOH shows many similarities, though the 4-ClPhO products formed together with faster H atoms at shorter wavelengths (lambda(phot)< or = 238 nm, by coupling through the S(1)/S(2) CI) show activity in an alternative ring breathing mode (nu(19a) rather than nu(7a)). Spectral analysis yields D(0)(H-OC(6)H(4)Cl) = 29 520 +/- 50 cm(-1). H atom formation via O-H bond fission is (at best) a very minor channel in the photolysis of 4-BrPhOH at all wavelengths investigated. Time-dependent density functional theory calculations suggest that this low H atom yield is because of competition from the alternative C-Br bond fission channel, and that the analogous C-Cl bond fission may be responsible for the weakness of the one photon-induced H atom signals observed when photolysing 4-ClPhOH at longer wavelengths.  相似文献

Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) particles are generated by reacting d-limonene vapor and ozone in a Teflon reaction chamber. The reaction is carried out in either dry or humid air in darkness. The resulting SOA particles are collected on glass fiber filters, and their photochemical properties are probed using a combination of UV photodissociation action spectroscopy and absorption spectroscopy techniques. Photolysis of limonene SOA in the tropospheric actinic region (lambda > 295 nm) readily produces formic acid and formaldehyde as gas-phase products. The UV wavelength dependence of the photolysis product yield suggests that the primary absorbers in SOA particles are organic peroxides. The relative humidity maintained during SOA particle growth is found to have little effect on the UV wavelength dependence of the photolysis product yield. The data suggest that direct photodissociation processes may play an important role in photochemical processing of atmospheric SOA particles.  相似文献
