We study the possibility to measure the elastic ΦN (Φ≡J/ψ,ψ(2S), ψ(3770), χ2c) scattering cross section in the reaction ˉp+dΦ+n sp and the elastic DD)N scattering cross section in the reaction ˉp+dD D 0 p sp. Our studies indicate that the elastic scattering cross sections can be determined for Φ momenta about 4–6 GeV/c and DD momenta 2–5 GeV/c by selecting events with p t≥ 0.4 GeV/c for Φ's and p t(p sp) ≥ 0.5 GeV/c for DD-meson production. Prompt gluons are an additional source for charmonium suppression in nuclear collisions, in particular for nucleus-nucleus collisions. These gluons are radiated as bremsstrahlung in N-N collisions and interact inelastically with the charmonium states while the nuclei still overlap. The spectra and mean number <n g> of the prompt gluons are calculated perturbatively and the inelastic cross section σabs Ψg is estimated. The integrated cross sections σ(A B →JX) for p-A and A-B collisions and the dependence on transverse energy for S-U and Pb-Pb can be described quantitatively with some adjustment of one parameter <n gabs Ψg. The process of baryon number transfer due to string junction propagation in rapidity space is considered. It leads to a significant effect in the net baryon production in pA collisions at mid-rapidities and an even more significant effect in the forward hemisphere for the cases of πA interactions. The results of numerical calculations in the framework of the Quark-Gluon String Model are in reasonable agreement with the data. Special consideration is given to Λ produced in π-A collisions extracted from the data of the WA89 Collaboration.  相似文献

We explore the possibility to measure the elastic and inelastic ωN cross section in p+dd+ω+p sp and p+A reactions. Our studies indicate that the elastic scattering cross sections can be determined for ω momenta above 1 GeV/c in p+d reactions by gating on high proton spectator momenta whereas the ωN absorption cross section down to low relative ω momenta is most effectively studied in p+A reactions at beam energies 2.0–2.7 GeV. Production cross-sections of charged pions, kaons and antikaons have been measured in C+C and C+Au collisions at beam energies of 1.0 and 1.8 AGeV for different polar emission angles. The kaon and antikaon energy spectra can be described by Boltzmann distributions whereas the pion spectra exhibit an additional enhancement at low energies. The pion multiplicity per participating nucleon M+)/<A part> is a factor of about 3 smaller in C+Au than in C+C collisions at 1.0 AGeV whereas it differs only little for the C and the Au target at a beam energy of 1.8 AGeV. The K+ multiplicities per participating nucleon M(K+)/ <A part> are independent of the target size at 1 AGeV and at 1.8 AGeV. The K- multiplicity per participating nucleon M(K-)/ <A part> is reduced by a factor of about 2 in C+Au as compared to C+C collisions at 1.8 AGeV. This effect might be caused by the absorption of antikaons in the heavy target nucleus. Transport model calculations underestimate the K-/K+ ratio for C+C collisions at 1.8 AGeV by a factor of about 4 if in-medium modifications of K-mesons are neglected. The light front analysis of π mesons in He(Li,C), C-Ne, C-Cu and O-Pb collisions is carried out. The phase space of secondary pions is divided into two parts in one of which the thermal equilibrium assumption seems to be in a good agreement with the data. Corresponding temperatures T are extracted and their dependence on (A P·A T)1/2 is studied. The results are compared with the predictions of the Quark-Gluon String Model (QGSM). The QGSM satisfactorily reproduces the experimental data for light and intermediate-mass nuclei. Received: 29 September 1999  相似文献

The presented results are the first measurements at RHIC for direct γ-charged hadron azimuthal correlations in heavy ion collisions. We use these correlations to study the color charge density of the medium through the medium-induced modification of high-p T parton fragmentation. Azimuthal correlations of direct photons at high transverse energy (8<p T <16 GeV) with away-side charged hadrons of transverse momentum (3<p T <6 GeV/c) have been measured over a broad range of centrality for Au+Au collisions and p+p collisions at  GeV in the STAR experiment. A transverse shower shape analysis in the STAR Barrel Electromagnetic Calorimeter Shower Maximum Detector is used to discriminate between the direct photons and photons from the decays of high p T π 0. The per-trigger away-side yield of direct γ is smaller than from π 0 trigger at the same centrality class. Within the current uncertainty the I CP of direct γ and π 0 are similar.  相似文献

The associative charm particles production in nucleon-nucleon collisions N + N↦Λcc) + ˉD + N, is described in a general way and the spin and isospin structure of the corresponding matrix elements are derived. Using an analogy with strange-particle (ΛK) production, the D-meson exchange model is considered in detail. Estimations of the energy behavior of the threshold cross-sections show a large dependence on the form of the phenomenological hadron form factors and indicate that, at threshold, the cross-section is three orders of magnitude smaller than for strange-particle production. We report results on quarkonium production from the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC). J/ψ spectra in p+p and Cu+Cu collisions at  GeV with transverse momenta in the range of 0.5–14 GeV/c and 5–8 GeV/c, respectively, are presented. We find that for p T >5 GeV/c yields in p+p collisions are consistent with those in minimum-bias Cu+Cu collisions scaled with the respective number of binary nucleon-nucleon collisions. In this range the nuclear modification factor, R AA , is measured to be 0.9±0.2 (stat). For the first time at RHIC, high-p T J/ψ-hadron correlations were studied in p+p collisions. Implications from our measurements on J/ψ production mechanisms, constraints on open bottom yields, and J/ψ dissociation mechanisms at high-p T are discussed. In addition, we give a brief status of measurements of ϒ production in p+p and Au+Au collisions and present projections of future quarkonia measurements based on an upgrades to the STAR detector and increased luminosity achieved through stochastic cooling of RHIC.  相似文献

We analyze the recent total cross section data for pppΛK + near threshold measured at COSY. Using an effective range approximation for the on-shell pΛ S-wave final state interaction we extract from these data the combination ?= (2|K s|2+|K t|2)−1/2= 0.38 fm4 of the singlet (K s) and triplet (K t) threshold transition amplitudes. We present an exploratory calculation of various (tree-level) vector and pseudoscalar meson exchange diagrams. Pointlike ω-exchange alone and the combined (ρ0,ω,K*+)-exchange can explain the experimental value of ?. The pseudoscalar meson exchanges based on a SU(3) chiral Lagrangian turn out to be too large. However, when adding π0-exchange in combination with the resonant πNS 11(1650) →KΛ transition and introducing monopole form factors with a cut-off Λc= 1.5 GeV one is again able to reproduce the experimental value of ?. More exclusive measurements are necessary to reveal the details of the pppΛK + production mechanism. Received: 28 October 1998 / Revised version: 12 January 1999  相似文献

The HADES spectrometer at GSI (Darmstadt) is investigating the e + e - pair production in p+p, p+A and A+A collisions. In this contribution we would like to highlight the physics motivations and the experiments performed so far, focusing mainly on the first results coming from 12C + 12C collisions at 1 and 2AGeV, and on preliminary results from p+p/d+p collisions at 1.25AGeV. We present empirical features of parton energy loss in nucleus–nucleus collisions at RHIC through studies of the spectra and nuclear modification factors (RAARAA) for charged hadrons, neutral pions (π0π0) and non-photonic electrons. The flat distribution of RAARAA at high transverse momentum (pTpT) for a given collision centrality is consistent with a scenario where parton energy loss ΔpTΔpT is proportional to pTpT. The centrality dependence of the parton energy loss indicates the absence of path length dependence in the magnitude of energy loss. The lack of strong path length dependence suggests a dynamical picture where the dense partonic medium undergoes rapid expansion and the density of the medium falls rapidly in the first a few Fermi interval, which may be much shorter than the full path length. Implications of the empirical constraints on the parton energy loss will also be discussed.  相似文献

In a hydrodynamic model, we have studied J/ψ production in Au+Au/Cu+Cu collisions at RHIC energy, GeV. At the initial time, J/ψ’s are randomly distributed in the fluid. As the fluid evolves in time, the free streaming J/ψ’s are dissolved if the local fluid temperature exceeds a threshold temperature T J/ψ . Sequential melting of charmonium states (χ c , ψ and J/ψ), with melting temperatures , T J/ψ ≈2T c and feed-down fraction F≈0.3, explains the PHENIX data on the centrality dependence of J/ψ suppression in Au+Au collisions. J/ψ p T spectra and the nuclear modification factor in Au+Au collisions are also well explained in the model. The model however overpredicts the centrality dependence of J/ψ suppression in Cu+Cu collisions by 20–30%. The J/ψ p T spectra are underpredicted by 20–30%. The model predicts that in central Pb+Pb collisions at LHC energy,  GeV, J/ψ’s are suppressed by a factor of ∼10. The model predicted a J/ψ p T distribution in Pb+Pb collisions at LHC is similar to that in Au+Au collisions at RHIC.  相似文献

We present selected recent results of multi-hadron correlation measurements in azimuth and pseudorapidity at intermediate and high p T in Au+Au collisions at , from the STAR experiment at RHIC. At intermediate p T , measurements are presented that attempt to determine the origin of the associated near-side (small Δφ) yield at large pseudo-rapidity difference Δη that is found to be present in heavy ion collisions. In addition, results are reported on new multi-hadron correlation measures at high-p T that use di-hadron triggers and multi-hadron cluster triggers with the goal to constrain the underlying jet kinematics better than in the existing measurements of inclusive spectra and di-hadron correlations.  相似文献

The production of neutral strange particles (K 0, ) inp Ar,pXe and Xe collisions at 200 GeV is investigated in the NA5 experiment using a streamer chamber at the CERN SPS. Results are presented on inclusive cross sections, average multiplicities, and on rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of neutral strange particles.  相似文献

The inclusive K+ meson production in photon–induced reactions in the near threshold and subthreshold energy regimes is analyzed with respect to the one–step (γNK + Y, Y=Λ,Σ) incoherent production processes on the basis of an appropriate new folding model, which takes properly into account the struck target nucleon removal energy and internal momentum distribution (nucleon spectral function), extracted from recent quasielastic electron scattering experiments and from many–body calculations with realistic models of the NN interaction. Simple parametrizations for the total and differential cross sections of the K+ production in photon–nucleon collisions are presented. Comparison of the model calculations of the K+ differential cross sections for the reaction γ+C12 in the threshold region with the existing experimental data is given, that displays the contributions to the K+ production at considered incident energies coming from the use of the single–particle part as well as high momentum and high removal energy part of the nucleon spectral function. Detailed predictions for the K+ total and differential cross sections from γH2, γC12 and γPb208 reactions at subthreshold and near threshold energies are provided. The influence of the uncertainties in the elementary K+ production cross sections on the K+ yield is explored. Received: 12 April 1999 / Revised version: 11 September 1999  相似文献

We study anomalous J/Ψ suppression and p t broadening in the model of prompt gluons. The anomalous suppression can be successfully described in this model. The transverse-momentum dependence of J/Ψ suppression in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is calculated from initial-state gluon rescattering with both nucleons and prompt gluons produced in nucleon-nucleon collisions in the early phase of the reaction. It seems impossible to describe simultaneously anomalous suppression and p t broadening in Pb-Pb collisions within the model of prompt gluons with reasonable values of the parameters. We propose and develop to some extent a novel approach, which allows to effectively describe, for relativistic heavy-ion collisions, the empirically observed deviation from unity of the intercept λ (i.e. the measured value corresponding to zero relative momentum p of two registered identical pions or kaons) of the two-particle correlation function C(p,K). The approach is based on the use of two versions of the so-called q-deformed oscillators and the corresponding picture of ideal gases of q-bosons. By these techniques the intercept λ is put into direct correspondence with the deformation parameter q. For fixed deformation strength, the model predicts particular dependence of the intercept λ on the pion pair mean momentum K. Received: 2 July 1999 / Revised version: 11 November 1999  相似文献

On the basis of the experimental data on diffractive processes in πp, pp and pˉp collisions at intermediate, moderately high and high energies, we restore the scattering amplitude related to the t-channel exchange by vacuum quantum numbers by taking account of the diffractive s-channel rescatterings. At intermediate and moderately high energies, the t-channel exchange amplitude turns, with a good accuracy, into an effective pomeron which renders the results of the additive quark model. At superhigh energies the scattering amplitude provides a Froissart-type behaviour, with an asymptotic universality of cross sections such as σtot πptot pp→ 1 at s→∞. The quark structure of hadrons being taken into account at the level of constituent quarks, the cross sections of pion and proton (antiproton) in the impact parameter space of quarks, σπ(r 1⊥, r 2⊥; s) and σp(r 1⊥, r 2⊥, r 3⊥; s), are found as functions of s. These cross sections implicate the phenomenon of colour screening: they tend to zero at |r i⊥r k⊥|→ 0. The effective colour screening radius for pion (proton) is found for different s. The predictions for the diffractive cross sections at superhigh energies are presented. Received: 15 December 1998  相似文献
