Four hexachlorosubphthalocyanines SubPcCl6‐X bearing different axial substituents (X) have been synthesized for use as novel electron acceptors in solution‐processed bulk‐heterojunction organic solar cells. Subphthalocyanines are aromatic chromophoric molecules with cone‐shaped structure, good solution processability, intense optical absorption in the visible spectral region, appropriate electron mobilities, and tunable energy levels. Solar cells with subphthalocyanines as the electron acceptor and PTB7‐Th as the electron donor exhibit a power conversion efficiency up to 4 % and an external quantum efficiency approaching 60 % due to significant contributions from both the electron donor and the electron acceptor to the photocurrent, indicating a promising prospect of non‐fullerene acceptors based on subphthalocyanines and structurally related systems.  相似文献

For over two decades bulk‐heterojunction polymer solar cell (BHJ‐PSC) research was dominated by donor:acceptor BHJ blends based on polymer donors and fullerene molecular acceptors. This situation has changed recently, with non‐fullerene PSCs developing very rapidly. The power conversion efficiencies of non‐fullerene PSCs have now reached over 15 %, which is far above the most efficient fullerene‐based PSCs. Among the various non‐fullerene PSCs, all‐polymer solar cells (APSCs) based on polymer donor‐polymer acceptor BHJs have attracted growing attention, due to the following attractions: 1) large and tunable light absorption of the polymer donor/polymer acceptor pair; 2) robustness of the BHJ film morphology; 3) compatibility with large scale/large area manufacturing; 4) long‐term stability of the cell to external environmental and mechanical stresses. This Minireview highlights the opportunities offered by APSCs, selected polymer families suitable for these devices with optimization to enhance the performance further, and discusses the challenges facing APSC development for commercial applications.  相似文献

Revealing the charge generation is a crucial step to understand the organic photovoltaics. Recent development in non‐fullerene organic solar cells (OSCs) indicates efficient charge separation even with negligible energetic offset between the donor and acceptor materials. These new findings trigger a critical question concerning the charge separation mechanism in OSCs, traditionally believed to result from sufficient energetic offset between the polymer donor and fullerene acceptor. We propose a new mechanism, which involves the molecular electrostatic potential, to explain efficient charge separation in non‐fullerene OSCs. Together with the new mechanism, we demonstrate a record efficiency of ~12% for systems with negligible energetic offset between donor and acceptor materials. Our analysis also rationalizes different requirement of the energetic offset between fullerene‐based and non‐fullerene OSCs, and paves the way for further design of OSC materials with both high photocurrent and high photovoltage at the same time.  相似文献

A star-shaped electron acceptor with porphyrin as core and rhodanine-benzothiadiazole as end groups linked with ethynyl units was developed for non-fullerene solar cells, in which a PCE of 1.9% with broad photo response was achieved when combining with a diketopyrrolopyrrole-polymer as electron donor.  相似文献

New multi‐modular donor–acceptor conjugates featuring zinc porphyrin (ZnP), catechol‐chelated boron dipyrrin (BDP), triphenylamine (TPA) and fullerene (C60), or naphthalenediimide (NDI) have been newly designed and synthesized as photosynthetic antenna and reaction‐center mimics. The X‐ray structure of triphenylamine‐BDP is also reported. The wide‐band capturing polyad revealed ultrafast energy‐transfer (kENT=1.0×1012 s?1) from the singlet excited BDP to the covalently linked ZnP owing to close proximity and favorable orientation of the entities. Introducing either fullerene or naphthalenediimide electron acceptors to the TPA‐BDP‐ZnP triad through metal–ligand axial coordination resulted in electron donor–acceptor polyads whose structures were revealed by spectroscopic, electrochemical and computational studies. Excitation of the electron donor, zinc porphyrin resulted in rapid electron‐transfer to coordinated fullerene or naphthalenediimide yielding charge separated ion‐pair species. The measured electron transfer rate constants from femtosecond transient spectral technique in non‐polar toluene were in the range of 5.0×109–3.5×1010 s?1. Stabilization of the charge‐separated state in these multi‐modular donor–acceptor polyads is also observed to certain level.  相似文献

We describe the thermodynamic characterisation of the self‐sorting process experienced by two homodimers assembled by hydrogen‐bonding interactions through their cyclopeptide scaffolds and decorated with Zn–porphyrin and fullerene units into a heterodimeric assembly that contains one electron‐donor (Zn–porphyrin) and one electron‐acceptor group (fullerene). The fluorescence of the Zn–porphyrin unit is strongly quenched upon heterodimer formation. This phenomenon is demonstrated to be the result of an efficient photoinduced electron‐transfer (PET) process occurring between the Zn–porphyrin and the fullerene units of the heterodimeric system. The recombination lifetime of the charge‐separated state of the heterodimer complex is in the order of 180 ns. In solution, both homo‐ and heterodimers are present as a mixture of three regioisomers: two staggered and one eclipsed. At the concentration used for this study, the high stability constant determined for the heterodimer suggests that the eclipsed conformer is the main component in solution. The application of the bound‐state scenario allowed us to calculate that the heterodimer exists mainly as the eclipsed regioisomer (75–90 %). The attractive interaction that exists between the donor and acceptor chromophores in the heterodimeric assembly favours their arrangement in close contact. This is confirmed by the presence of charge‐transfer bands centred at 720 nm in the absorption spectrum of the heterodimer. PET occurs in approximately 75 % of the chromophores after excitation of both Zn–porphyrin and fullerene chromophores. Conversely, analogous systems, reported previously, decorated with extended tetrathiafulvalene and fullerene units showed a PET process in a significantly reduced extent (33 %). We conclude that the strength (stability constant (K)×effective molarity (EM)) of the intramolecular interaction established between the two chromophores in the Zn–porphyrin/fullerene cyclopeptide‐based heterodimers controls the regioisomeric distribution and regulates the high extent to which the PET process takes place in this system.  相似文献

Thin films composed of polycyclohexane (PCHE), zinc(II)‐5,10,15,20‐tetra‐(2‐naphthyl)porphyrin (ZnTNpP), and [6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) blends are prepared to investigate their potential for the controlled self‐assembly of a porphyrin/fullerene donor–acceptor complex in a polymer thin film. The compatibilities of PCHE/PCBM (p), PCHE/ZnTNpP (q), and ZnTNpP/PCBM (r) in these blends have a significant effect on the dispersion of the ZnTNpP/PCBM donor–acceptor complex in the PCHE thin film. When the compatibilities are p << q, r, and q ≈ r, the ZnTNpP/PCBM donor–acceptor complex is formed between the PCHE and PCBM phases. This concept to form a controlled self‐assembly of the ZnTNpP/PCBM donor–acceptor complex may be applied to various combinations of porphyrin/fullerene systems in polymer thin film solar cells to achieve excellent performance. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A “frozen” electron donor–acceptor array that bears porphyrin and fullerene units covalently linked through the ortho position of a phenyl ring and the nitrogen of a pyrrolidine ring, respectively, is reported. Electrochemical and photophysical features suggest that the chosen linkage supports both through‐space and through‐bond interactions. In particular, it has been found that the porphyrin singlet excited state decays within a few picoseconds by means of a photoinduced electron transfer to give the rapid formation of a long‐lived charge‐separated state. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations show HOMO and LUMO to be localized on the electron‐donating porphyrin and the electron‐accepting fullerene moiety, respectively, at this level of theory. More specifically, semiempirical molecular orbital (MO) configuration interaction (CI) and unrestricted natural orbital (UNO)‐CI methods shed light on the nature of the charge‐transfer states and emphasize the importance of the close proximity of donor and acceptor for effective electron transfer.  相似文献

Over the past few years, non‐fullerene organic solar cells have been a focus of research and their power conversion efficiencies have been improved dramatically from about 6 % to over 14 %. In addition to innovations in non‐fullerene acceptors, the ongoing development of polymer donors has contributed significantly to the rapid progress of non‐fullerene organic solar cell performance. This Minireview highlights the polymer donors that enable high‐performance non‐fullerene organic solar cells. We show the impressive photovoltaic devices results achieved by some of important classes of conjugated polymer systems in non‐fullerene organic solar cells. We discuss the molecular design strategies as far as developing matching polymer donors for non‐fullerene acceptors. We conclude with a brief summary and outlook for advances in donor polymers required for commercialization.  相似文献

By introduction of four hydroxy (HO) groups into the two perylene bisimide (PBI) bay areas, new HO‐PBI ligands were obtained which upon deprotonation can complex ZnII ions and photosensitize semiconductive zinc oxide thin films. Such coordination is beneficial for dispersing PBI photosensitizer molecules evenly into metal oxide films to fabricate organic–inorganic hybrid interlayers for organic solar cells. Supported by the photoconductive effect of the ZnO: HO‐PBI hybrid interlayers, improved electron collection and transportation is achieved in fullerene and non‐fullerene polymer solar cell devices, leading to remarkable power conversion efficiencies of up to 15.95 % for a non‐fullerene based organic solar cell.  相似文献

The ternary blend structure has been demonstrated as an effective approach to increase the power conversion efficiency of organic solar cells. An effective approach to enhance the power conversion efficiency of ternary solar cells is based on two non‐fullerene acceptors with complimentary absorption range and balanced crystallinity. In this work, we have introduced a high crystallinity small‐molecule acceptor, named C8IDTT‐4Cl with appropriate alkyl side chains into a low crystalline blend of conjugated polymer donor PBDT‐TPD and fused‐ring electron acceptor ITIC‐4F. A ternary device based on the blend PBDT‐TPD:ITIC‐4F:C8IDTT‐4Cl exhibits a best power conversion efficiency of 9.51% with a simultaneous improvement of the short‐circuit current density to 18.76 mA·cm–2 and the fill factor up to 67.53%. The absorption onset for C8IDTT‐4Cl is located at 900 nm, so that the well complementary light absorption is beneficial to the photocurrent. In addition, the existence of high crystallinity C8IDTT‐4Cl in the ternary device is found helpful to modulate crystallinity, improve heterojunction morphologies and stacking structure, therefore to realize higher charge mobility and better performance.  相似文献

As an excellent artificial photosynthetic reaction center, the carotene (C)‐porphyrin (P)‐fullerene (F) triad was extensively investigated experimentally. To reveal the mechanism of the intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) on the mimic of photosynthetic solar energy conversion (such as singlet energy transfer between pigments, and photoinduced electron transfer from excited singlet states to give long‐lived charge‐separated states), the ICT mechanisms of C‐P‐F triad on the exciton were theoretically studied with quantum chemical methods as well as the 2D and 3D real space analysis approaches. The results of quantum chemical methods reveal that the excited states are the ICT states, since the densities of HOMO are localized in the carotene or porphyrin unit, and the densities of LUMO are localized in the fullerene unit. Furthermore, the excited states should be the intramolecular superexchange charge transfer (ISCT) states for the orbital transition from the HOMO whose densities are localized in the carotene to the LUMO whose densities are localized in the fullerene unit. The 3D charge difference densities can clearly show that some excited states are ISCT excited states, since the electron and hole are resident in the fullerene and carotene units, respectively. From the results of the electron‐hole coherence of the 2D transition density matrix, not only 3D results are supported, but also the delocalization size on the exciton can be observed. These phenomena were further interpreted with non‐linear optical effect. The large changes of the linear and non‐linear polarizabilities on the exciton result in the charge separate states, and if their changes are large enough, the ICT mechanism can become the ISCT on the exciton.  相似文献

A novel multimodular donor–acceptor polyad featuring zinc porphyrin, fullerene, ferrocene, and triphenylamine entities was designed, synthesized, and studied as a charge‐stabilizing, photosynthetic‐antenna/reaction‐center mimic. The ferrocene and fullerene entities, covalently linked to the porphyrin ring, were distantly separated to accomplish the charge‐separation/hole‐migration events leading to the creation of a long‐lived charge‐separated state. The geometry and electronic structures of the newly synthesized compound was deduced by B3LYP/3‐21G(*) optimization, while the energy levels for different photochemical events was established using data from the optical absorption and emission, and electrochemical studies. Excitation of the triphenylamine entities revealed singlet‐singlet energy transfer to the appended zinc porphyrin. As predicted from the energy levels, photoinduced electron transfer from both the singlet and triplet excited states of the zinc porphyrin to fullerene followed by subsequent hole migration involving ferrocene was witnessed from the transient absorption studies. The charge‐separated state persisted for about 8.5 μs and was governed by the distance between the final charge‐transfer product, that is, a species involving a ferrocenium cation and a fullerene radical anion, with additional influence from the charge‐stabilizing triphenylamine entities located on the zinc‐porphyrin macrocycle.  相似文献

A new and highly efficient cathode interlayer material for organic photovoltaics (OPVs) was produced by integrating C60 fullerene monomers into ionene polymers. The power of these novel “C60‐ionenes” for interface modification enables the use of numerous high work‐function metals (e.g., silver, copper, and gold) as the cathode in efficient OPV devices. C60‐ionene boosted power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of solar cells, fabricated with silver cathodes, from 2.79 % to 10.51 % for devices with a fullerene acceptor in the active layer, and from 3.89 % to 11.04 % for devices with a non‐fullerene acceptor in the active layer, demonstrating the versatility of this interfacial layer. The introduction of fullerene moieties dramatically improved the conductivity of ionene polymers, affording devices with high efficiency by reducing charge accumulation at the cathode/active layer interface. The power of C60‐ionene to improve electron injection and extraction between metal electrodes and organic semiconductors highlights its promise to overcome energy barriers at the hard‐soft materials interface to the benefit of organic electronics.  相似文献

Anchoring groups are extremely important in controlling the performance of dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSCs). The design and characterization of sensitizers with new anchoring groups, in particular non‐carboxylic acid groups, has become a recent focus of DSC research. Herein, new donor? π? acceptor zinc? porphyrin dyes with a pyridine ring as an anchoring group have been designed and synthesized for applications in DSCs. Photophysical and electrochemical investigations demonstrated that the pyridine ring worked effectively as an anchoring group for the porphyrin sensitizers. DSCs that were based on these new porphyrins showed an overall power‐conversion efficiency of about 4.0 % under full sunlight (AM 1.5G, 100 mW cm?2).  相似文献

A porphyrin π‐system has been modulated by enhancing the push–pull character with highly asymmetrical substitution for dye‐sensitized solar cells for the first time. Namely, both two diarylamino moieties as a strong electron‐donating group and one carboxyphenylethynyl moiety as a strong electron‐withdrawing, anchoring group were introduced into the meso‐positions of the porphyrin core in a lower symmetrical manner. As a result of the improved light‐harvesting property as well as high electron distribution in the anchoring group of LUMO, a push–pull‐enhanced, porphyrin‐sensitized solar cell exhibited more than 10 % power conversion efficiency, which exceeded that of a representative highly efficient porphyrin (i.e., YD2)‐sensitized solar cell under optimized conditions. The rational molecular design concept based on highly asymmetric, push–pull substitution will open the possibilities of further improving cell performance in organic solar cells.  相似文献

The cholesterol-bonded fullerene and porphyrin derivatives were synthesised and characterised. Donor–acceptor thin films were self-assembled through the interaction between cyclodextrin and the cholesterol groups on porphyrin and fullerene derivatives. These uniform films were characterised by ultraviolet–visible and fluorescence spectroscopies. Scanning electron microscopy indicated that the self-assembled film had a chain-like fibre structure with the chains having a diameter of about 50 nm. The intermolecular interaction between chromophores and the formation of complex based on cholesterol and cyclodextrin were proven by the quenching of fluorescence due to the charge transfer from porphyrin moieties to the fullerene units.  相似文献

Herein the synthesis, characterization, and organization of a first‐generation dendritic fulleropyrrolidine bearing two pending porphyrins are reported. Both the dendron and the fullerene derivatives were synthesized by CuI‐catalyzed alkyne–azide cycloaddition (CuAAC). The electron‐donor–acceptor conjugate possesses a shape that allows the formation of supramolecular complexes by encapsulation of C60 within the jaws of the two porphyrins of another molecule. The interactions between the two photoactive units (i.e., C60 and Zn–porphyrin) were confirmed by cyclic voltammetry as well as by steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy. For example, a shift of about 85 mV was found for the first reduction of C60 in the electron‐donor–acceptor conjugate compared with the parent molecules, which indicates that C60 is included in the jaws of the porphyrin. The fulleropyrrolidine compound exhibits a rich polymorphism, which was corroborated by AFM and SEM. In particular, it was found to form supramolecular fibrils when deposited on substrates. The morphology of the fibrils suggests that they are formed by several rows of fullerene–porphyrin complexes.  相似文献

We report herein an efficient A1‐C≡C‐A2‐C≡C‐A1 type small‐molecule 4,4'‐difluoro‐4‐bora‐3a,4a‐diaza‐s‐ indacene (BODIPY) acceptor (A1=BODIPY and A2=diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP)) by following the A‐to‐A excited electron delocalization via the BODIPY meso ‐position, the inherent directionality for the excited electron delocalization. The lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) delocalizes across over whole the two flanking A1 and the central A2, and the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) localizes dominantly on the ‐C≡C‐DPP‐C≡C‐ segment. The excited electron upon light excitation of the DPP segment delocalizes over both the BODIPY and DPP segments. The acceptor in chloroform shows an unprecedented plateau‐like broad absorption between 550 and 700 nm with a large FWHM value of 195 nm. Upon transition into solid film, the acceptor shows absorption in the whole near ultraviolet‐visible‐near infrared wavelength region (300‐830 nm) with a low band gap of 1.5 eV and a maximum absorptivity of 0.85×105 cm‐1. Introduction of the ethynyl spacer between the A1 and A2 and the close BODIPY‐to‐DPP LUMO energy levels are crucial for the excited π−electron delocalization across over whole the conjugation backbone. A power conversion efficiency of 6.60% was obtained from the ternary non‐fullerene solar cell with PTB7‐Th:p ‐DTS(FBTTh2)2 (0.5 : 0.5) as the donor materials, which is the highest value among the non‐fullerene organic solar cells with BODIPY as the electron acceptor material.  相似文献
