Perturbation theory and mean-field approach have been employed in the present work to estimate the Heisenberg coupling constants 's for the ferromagnet DyRh4B4 and the antiferromagnet TmRh4B4 from their magnetic transition temperatures TM's in comparison with GdRh4B4. We found that the 's of these substances are different from each other, which may be attributed to their different electronic structures and also the anisotropic nature of the Heisenberg exchange coupling.  相似文献

In this paper we study the quantum phase transition in a three-dimensional XY model with single-ion anisotropy D and spin S=1. The low D phase is studied using the self consistent harmonic approximation, and the large D phase using the bond operator formalism. We calculate the critical value of the anisotropy parameter where a transition occurs from the large-D phase to the Néel phase. We present the behavior of the energy gap, in the large-D phase, as a function of the temperature. In the large D region, a longitudinal magnetic field induces a phase transition from the singlet to the antiferromagnetic state, and then from the AFM one to the paramagnetic state.  相似文献

The influence of a superconducting fermionic environment on quantum diffusion is investigated. Within the framework of a two-state model hopping rates are calculated both for the biased and unbiased case. As for the latter, the jump frequency shows towards lower temperatures an exponential increase caused by the dyingout of quasiparticle excitations. The calculated rates show a much stronger sensitivity on bias than in the normal state. For small bias (compared to the energy gap) they behave non-monotonically: below a certain temperature an exponential decrease is found which leads to a localization of the particle. For large bias the hopping rates are not substantially changed by the onset of superconductivity.  相似文献

Magnetic properties of SrCo2V 2O8 single crystal are investigated by means of ac magnetic susceptibility, dc magnetization and heat capacity measurements. The results show that SrCo2V 2O8 possesses two canted antiferromagnetic transitions at ∼5 and ∼3 K, which is different from isostructural BaCo2V 2O8 with only one antiferromagnetic transition at ∼5 K. We suggest that such different magnetic properties are mainly due to their different structural symmetry.  相似文献

The spectral properties of Kitaev’s honeycomb lattice model are investigated both analytically and numerically with the focus on the non-abelian phase of the model. After summarizing the fermionization technique which maps spins into free Majorana fermions, we evaluate the spectrum of sparse vortex configurations and derive the interaction between two vortices as a function of their separation. We consider the effect vortices can have on the fermionic spectrum as well as on the phase transition between the abelian and non-abelian phases. We explicitly demonstrate the 2n-fold ground state degeneracy in the presence of 2n well separated vortices and the lifting of the degeneracy due to their short-range interactions. The calculations are performed on an infinite lattice. In addition to the analytic treatment, a numerical study of finite size systems is performed which is in exact agreement with the theoretical considerations. The general spectral properties of the non-abelian phase are considered for various finite toroidal systems.  相似文献

We consider a quantum impurity model in which a bosonic impurity level is coupled to a non-interacting bosonic bath, with the bosons at the impurity site subject to a local Coulomb repulsion U. Numerical renormalization group calculations for this bosonic single-impurity Anderson model reveal a zero-temperature phase diagram where Mott phases with reduced charge fluctuations are separated from a Bose-Einstein condensed phase by lines of quantum critical points. We discuss possible realizations of this model, such as atomic quantum dots in optical lattices. Furthermore, the bosonic single-impurity Anderson model appears as an effective impurity model in a dynamical mean-field theory of the Bose-Hubbard model.  相似文献

Triangular anisotropic Heisenberg antiferromagnet shares with the triangular planar antiferromagnet the rich phenomenology found in presence of an external magnetic field. The physical interest in the triangular Heisenberg model is obvious because the planar model has not the quantum analogous one and, more seriously, it does not allow out-of-plane fluctuations so that it provides a very rough representation of actual magnetic insulators. Indeed, we show that magnetic resonance data on CsCuCl3 are satisfactorily understood on the basis of the properties of the quantum triangular Heisenberg antiferromagnet with easy-plane exchange anisotropy.  相似文献

We have discussed the zero-temperature quantum phase transition in n-component quantum rotor Hamiltonian in the presence of regular frustration in the interaction. The phase diagram consists of ferromagnetic, helical and quantum paramagnetic phase, where the ferro-para and the helical-para phase boundary meets at a multicritical point called a (d,m) quantum Lifshitz point where (d,m) indicates that the m of the d spatial dimensions incorporate frustration. We have studied the Hamiltonian in the vicinity of the quantum Lifshitz point in the spherical limit and also studied the renormalisation group flow behaviour using standard momentum space renormalisation technique (for finite n). In the spherical limit ()one finds that the helical phase does not exist in the presence of any nonvanishing quantum fluctuation for m =d though the quantum Lifshitz point exists for all d > 1+m/2, and the upper critical dimensionality is given by d u = 3 +m/2. The scaling behaviour in the neighbourhood of a quantum Lifshitz point in d dimensions is consistent with the behaviour near the classical Lifshitz point in (d+z) dimensions. The dynamical exponent of the quantum Hamiltonian z is unity in the case of anisotropic Lifshitz point (d>m) whereas z=2 in the case of isotropic Lifshitz point (d=m). We have evaluated all the exponents using the renormalisation flow equations along-with the scaling relations near the quantum Lifshitz point. We have also obtained the exponents in the spherical limit (). It has also been shown that the exponents in the spherical model are all related to those of the corresponding Gaussian model by Fisher renormalisation. Low-temperature magnetic properties of a Heisenberg model consisting of ferro- and antiferromagnetic layer superlattices are studied by using spin-wave theory and retarded Green's function method. The four-sublattice magnetizations and internal energy and specific heat at low temperature are calculated. The results of various physical quantities are shown for different sets of intra- and interplane coupling interactions. There is a crossover between sublattice magnetizations in each layer is affected by quantum fluctuations, thermal fluctuations and frustration of spins.  相似文献

This is a summary of a review article appearing in Reviews of Modern Physics, July 2003. The ground state of the cuprate superconductors is described using the paradigm of competing orders. This approach has led to numerous predictions, some of which have been tested in recent nanoscale experiments.  相似文献

For temperature zero the effects of disorder for interacting bosons are considered. The disorder induced superfluid-insulator transition in thed-dimensional disordered Bogoliubov model is discussed. Results for a short-range and a long-range random potential are given. For short-range disorder we argue that ford<4 arbitrarily small disorder localizes the Bose condensate for vanishing interaction potential. Ford>4 a certain strength of the disorder potential is necessary in order to localize the condensate. For the three-dimensional Bogoliubov model our results are in agreement with a recent calculation. We compare our theoretical predictions with numerical experiments for a disordered boson Hubbard model.  相似文献

Bohm’s interpretation of Quantum Mechanics leads to the derivation of a Quantum Kinetic Equation. In the present work, moments of this kinetic equation are taken, thus deriving conservation equations. These macroscopic equations are then applied to study the propagation of longitudinal density perturbations in neutral gases and plasmas, of either fermions or bosons. The dispersion relation is derived and the effect of the Bohm potential shown; the speed of propagation calculated and the difference between fermions and bosons investigated. Pseudosonic waves in quantum plasmas are obtained including the effect of the Bohm potential.  相似文献

In the canonical ensemble any singularity of a thermodynamic function at a temperatureT c is smeared over a temperature range of orderT T /N. Therefore it is rather difficult to distinguish between a discontinuous and a continuous phase transition on the basis of numerical data obtained for finite systems in the canonical ensemble. It is demonstrated for four model systems that this problem cannot be circumvented by considering higher cumulants of the energy distribution or cumulant ratios. On the other hand, the distinction between first and a second order phase transition is rather direct if based on the microcanonical density of states which is readily obtainable in the dynamical ensemble.  相似文献

By means of the generalized static replica symmetric spin glass theory, a quantum HeisenbergS=1/2 spin glass model with the infinite-ranged random Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (DM) interaction and ferromagnetic coupling is investigated. The dependence of entropy, specific heat, susceptibility and the corresponding order parameters on temperature is studied numerically for different ferromagnetic interactions and fixed anisotropy. Two spin glass phases has been found including transverse and mixed spin glass phases. It has been shown that the local susceptibility exhibits double-cusp features for different ferromagnetic coupling (J 0). Phase transition poins are found in the specific heat-temperature plane at various ferromagnetic coupling values. Additionally, the dependence of the spontaneous moment on temperature is calculated.  相似文献

The algebraic expressions for the total spin operators expressed in terms of orthofermion creation and annihilation operators are combined into a single equation. The terms in this expressions are rearranged to provide representations of local spin operators. This task is essential for modelling a system of orthofermions in the presence of a magnetic field. By factorizing the orthofermion annihilation (creation) operators into charge and spin dependent parts, it is shown that the latter part suffices to represent spin number, raising and lowering operators. Finally a connection is provided between the spin systems and Greenberg’s infinite statistics.  相似文献

Quantum particles can be obtained from a classical probability distribution in phase space by a suitable coarse graining, whereby simultaneous classical information about position and momentum can be lost. For a suitable time evolution of the classical probabilities and choice of observables all features of a quantum particle in a potential follow from classical statistics. This includes interference, tunneling and the uncertainty relation.  相似文献

In this paper we study the quantum phase transition and low temperature behavior in a square lattice quantum two-dimensional XY model with single-ion anisotropy and spin S=1. Starting with the Villain representation, a Landau-Ginzburg expression is written. The large D phase is studied using the bond operator formalism.  相似文献
