We introduce the k-strong Lefschetz property and the k-weak Lefschetz property for graded Artinian K-algebras, which are generalizations of the Lefschetz properties. The main results are:

1. Let I be an ideal of R = K[x 1, x 2,…, x n ] whose quotient ring R/I has the n-SLP. Suppose that all kth differences of the Hilbert function of R/I are quasi-symmetric. Then the generic initial ideal of I is the unique almost revlex ideal with the same Hilbert function as R/I.

2. We give a sharp upper bound on the graded Betti numbers of Artinian K-algebras with the k-WLP and a fixed Hilbert function.  相似文献

An SI-sequence is a finite sequence of positive integers which is symmetric, unimodal and satisfies a certain growth condition. These are known to correspond precisely to the possible Hilbert functions of graded Artinian Gorenstein algebras with the weak Lefschetz property, a property shared by a nonempty open set of the family of all graded Artinian Gorenstein algebras having a fixed Hilbert function that is an SI sequence. Starting with an arbitrary SI-sequence, we construct a reduced, arithmetically Gorenstein configuration G of linear varieties of arbitrary dimension whose Artinian reduction has the given SI-sequence as Hilbert function and has the weak Lefschetz property. Furthermore, we show that G has maximal graded Betti numbers among all arithmetically Gorenstein subschemes of projective space whose Artinian reduction has the weak Lefschetz property and the given Hilbert function. As an application we show that over a field of characteristic zero every set of simplicial polytopes with fixed h-vector contains a polytope with maximal graded Betti numbers.  相似文献

The purpose of this note is to characterize the finite Hilbert functions which force all of their artinian algebras to enjoy the Weak Lefschetz Property (WLP). Curiously, they turn out to be exactly those (characterized by Wiebe in [A. Wiebe, The Lefschetz property for componentwise linear ideals and Gotzmann ideals, Comm. Algebra 32 (12) (2004) 4601-4611]) whose Gotzmann ideals have the WLP.This implies that, if a Gotzmann ideal has the WLP, then all algebras with the same Hilbert function (and hence lower Betti numbers) have the WLP as well. However, we will answer in the negative, even in the case of level algebras, the most natural question that one might ask after reading the previous sentence: If A is an artinian algebra enjoying the WLP, do all artinian algebras with the same Hilbert function as A and Betti numbers lower than those of A have the WLP as well? Also, as a consequence of our result, we have another (simpler) proof of the fact that all codimension 2 algebras enjoy the WLP (this fact was first proven in [T. Harima, J. Migliore, U. Nagel, J. Watanabe, The weak and strong Lefschetz properties for Artinian K-algebras, J. Algebra 262 (2003) 99-126], where it was shown that even the Strong Lefschetz Property holds).  相似文献

Let AK[x 1,..., x n ] denote the polynomial ring in n variables over a field K. We will classify all the Gotzmann ideals of A with at most n generators. In addition, we will study Hilbert functions H for which all homogeneous ideals of A with the Hilbert function H have the same graded Betti numbers. These Hilbert functions will be called inflexible Hilbert functions. We introduce the notion of segmentwise critical Hilbert functions and show that segmentwise critical Hilbert functions are inflexible. We deal with the weak Lefschetz property (WLP) for Artinian standard graded Gorenstein algebras of codimension 3. We prove that many Gorenstein sequences force the WLP for such algebras. Moreover for every Gorenstein sequence \(H\) of codimension 3 we found several Gorenstein Betti sequences compatible with \(H\) which again force the WLP. Finally we show that for every Gorenstein Betti sequence the general Artinian standard graded Gorenstein algebra with such Betti sequence has the WLP.  相似文献

We give a combinatorial formula for the Betti numbers which appear in a minimal free resolution of the Stanley-Reisner ringk[Δ(P)]=A/I Δ(P) of the boundary complex Δ(P) of an odd-dimensional cyclic polytopePover a fieldk. A corollary to the formula is that the Betti number sequence ofk[Δ(P)] is unimodal and does not depend on the base fieldk.  相似文献

Let A be a standard graded Artinian K-algebra, with char K=0. We prove the following.
1.
A has the Weak Lefschetz Property (resp. Strong Lefschetz Property) if and only if has the Weak Lefschetz Property (resp. Strong Lefschetz Property) for some linear form z of A.
2.
If A is Gorenstein, then A has the Strong Lefschetz Property if and only if there exists a linear form z of A such that all central simple modules of (A,z) have the Strong Lefschetz Property.
As an application of these theorems, we give some new classes of Artinian complete intersections with the Strong Lefschetz Property.  相似文献

We show how to lift any monomial ideal J in n variables to a saturated ideal J of the same codimension in n -+ t variables. We show that I has the same graded Betti numbers as J and we show how to obtain the matrices for the resolution of I. The cohornology of l is described. Making general choices for our lifting, we show that l is the ideal of a reduced union of linear varieties with singularities that are "as small as possible" given the cohomological constraints. The case where J is Artinian is the nicest. In the case of curves we obtain stick figures for l, and in the case of points we obtain certain k-configurations which we can describe in a very precise way.  相似文献

For standard graded Artinian K-algebras defined by componentwise linear ideals and Gotzmann ideals, we give conditions for the weak Lefschetz property in terms of numerical invariants of the defining ideals.  相似文献

Let R=k[x1,…,xn] be a polynomial ring and let IR be a graded ideal. In [T. Römer, Betti numbers and shifts in minimal graded free resolutions, arXiv: AC/070119], Römer asked whether under the Cohen–Macaulay assumption the ith Betti number βi(R/I) can be bounded above by a function of the maximal shifts in the minimal graded free R-resolution of R/I as well as bounded below by a function of the minimal shifts. The goal of this paper is to establish such bounds for graded Cohen–Macaulay algebras k[x1,…,xn]/I when I is a standard determinantal ideal of arbitrary codimension. We also discuss other examples as well as when these bounds are sharp.  相似文献

The graded Betti numbers of the minimal free resolution (and also therefore the Hilbert function) of the ideal of a fat point subscheme Z of P2 are determined whenever Z is supported at any 6 or fewer distinct points. All results hold over an algebraically closed field k of arbitrary characteristic.  相似文献

An Alexander dual of a multipermutohedron ideal has many combinatorial properties. The standard monomials of an Artinian quotient of such a dual correspond bijectively to some λ-parking functions, and many interesting properties of these Artinian quotients are obtained by Postnikov and Shapiro (Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 356 (2004) 3109–3142). Using the multigraded Hilbert series of an Artinian quotient of an Alexander dual of multipermutohedron ideals, we obtained a simple proof of Steck determinant formula for enumeration of λ-parking functions. A combinatorial formula for all the multigraded Betti numbers of an Alexander dual of multipermutohedron ideals are also obtained.  相似文献

The weak and strong Lefschetz properties are two basic properties that Artinian algebras may have. Both Lefschetz properties may vary under small perturbations or changes of the characteristic. We study these subtleties by proposing a systematic way of deforming a monomial ideal failing the weak Lefschetz property to an ideal with the same Hilbert function and the weak Lefschetz property. In particular, we lift a family of Artinian monomial ideals to finite level sets of points in projective space with the property that a general hyperplane section has the weak Lefschetz property in almost all characteristics, whereas a special hyperplane section does not have this property in any characteristic.  相似文献

LetP(v, d) be a stackedd-polytope withv vertices, δ(P(v, d)) the boundary complex ofP(v, d), andk[Δ(P(v, d))] =A/I Δ(P(v,d)) the Stanley-Reisner ring of Δ(P(v,d)) over a fieldk. We compute the Betti numbers which appear in a minimal free resolution ofk[Δ(P(v,d))] overA, and show that every Betti number depends only onv andd and is independent of the base fieldk. We also show that the Betti number sequences above are unimodal.  相似文献

The authors in Harima et al. (2003 Harima , T. , Migliore , J. C. , Nagel , U. , Watanabe , J. ( 2003 ). The weak and strong Lefschetz properties for artinian K-algebras . Journal of Algebra 262 : 99126 .[Crossref], [Web of Science ®] [Google Scholar]) characterize the Hilbert function of algebras with the Lefschetz property. We extend this characterization to algebras with the Lefschetz property m times. We also give upper bounds for the Betti numbers of Artinian algebras with a given Hilbert function and with the Lefschetz property m times and describe the cases in which these bounds are reached.  相似文献

For a simplicial complex Δ we study the effect of barycentric subdivision on ring theoretic invariants of its Stanley–Reisner ring. In particular, for Stanley–Reisner rings of barycentric subdivisions we verify a conjecture by Huneke and Herzog and Srinivasan, that relates the multiplicity of a standard graded k-algebra to the product of the maximal and minimal shifts in its minimal free resolution up to the height. On the way to proving the conjecture, we develop new and list well-known results on behavior of dimension, Hilbert series, multiplicity, local cohomology, depth, and regularity when passing from the Stanley–Reisner ring of Δ to the one of its barycentric subdivision.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper we study the resolution of a facet ideal associated with a special class of simplicial complexes introduced by Faridi. These simplicial complexes are called trees, and are a generalization (to higher dimensions) of the concept of a tree in graph theory. We show that the Koszul homology of the facet ideal I of a tree is generated by the homology classes of monomial cycles, determine the projective dimension and the regularity of I if the tree is 1-dimensional, show that the graded Betti numbers of I satisfy an alternating sum property if the tree is connected in codimension 1, and classify all trees whose facet ideal has a linear resolution.  相似文献

We introduce two notions of amenability for a Banach algebra A. LetI be a closed two-sided ideal inA, we sayA is I-weakly amenable if the first cohomology group ofA with coefficients in the dual space I* is zero; i.e.,H 1(A, I*) = {0}, and,A is ideally amenable ifA isI-weakly amenable for every closed two-sided idealI inA. We relate these concepts to weak amenability of Banach algebras. We also show that ideal amenability is different from amenability and weak amenability. We study theI-weak amenability of a Banach algebraA for some special closed two-sided idealI.  相似文献

The conjecture of Kalai, Kleinschmidt, and Lee on the number of empty simplices of a simplicial polytope is established by relating it to the first graded Betti numbers of the polytope and applying a result of Migliore and the author. This approach allows us to derive explicit optimal bounds on the number of empty simplices of any given dimension. As a key result, we prove optimal bounds for the graded Betti numbers of any standard graded K-algebra in terms of its Hilbert function.  相似文献
