The polymerization of racemic lactide with a racemic aluminum alkoxide catalyst is reported. Microstructural analysis of the polymer produced with 1H NMR spectroscopy revealed that an isotactic stereoblock poly(lactic acid) formed, where each enantiomerically pure block contained an average of 11 lactide monomer units. The melting point of this polymer, 179 °C, was higher than that of the enantiomerically pure polymer, consistent with the cocrystallization of the enantiomeric blocks of the polymer. The mechanism of the polymer formation is currently unknown, although a polymer exchange pathway, where living chain ends switch between metal centers to produce diastereomeric active species, is proposed. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Poly(lactic acid)/organo-montmorillonite nanocomposites were prepared by melt intercalation technique. Maleic anhydride-grafted
ethylene propylene rubber (EPMgMA) was added into the PLA/OMMT in order to improve the compatibility and toughness of the
nanocomposites. The samples were prepared by single screw extrusion followed by compression molding. The effect of OMMT and
EPMgMA on the thermal properties of PLA was studied. The thermal properties of the PLA/OMMT nanocomposites have been investigated
by using differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermo-gravimetry analyzer (TG). The melting temperature (T
m), glass transition temperature (T
g), crystallization temperature (T
c), degree of crystallinity (χc), and thermal stability of the PLA/OMMT nanocomposites have been studied. It was found that the thermal properties of PLA
were greatly influenced by the addition of OMMT and EPMgMA. 相似文献

Aliphatic polyesters and polyphosphoesters (PPEs) have received much interest in medical applications due to their favorable biocompatibility and biodegradability. In this work, novel amphiphilic triblock copolymers of PPE and poly(L ‐lactic acid) (PLLA) with various compositions were synthesized and characterized. The blocky structure was confirmed by GPC analyses. These triblock copolymers formed micelles composed of hydrophobic PLLA core and hydrophilic PPE shell in aqueous solution. Critical micellization concentrations of these triblock copolymers were related to the polymer compositions. Incubation of micelles at neutral pH followed by GPC analyses revealed that these polymer micelles were hydrolysized and resulted in decreased molecular weights and small oligomers, whereas its degradation in basic and acid mediums was accelerated. MTT assay also demonstrated the biocompatibility against HEK293 cells. These biodegradable polymers are potential as drug carriers for biomedical application. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 1,3‐Dioxepane was polymerized with triflic acid as an initiator in the presence of acetic acid (AA) and hexane diacid. The structure of the poly(1,3‐dioxepane) (polyDOP) obtained was characterized by 1H NMR spectra and gel permeation chromatography. The molecular weights (MWs) were determined by vapor pressure osmometry. The results obtained in both systems were completely different from those in which low‐MW polyols were used as chain‐transfer agents. When the molar ratio of carboxylic acid to triflic acid was low, high‐MW polyDOP with a controlled MW and narrow MW distribution was obtained. The content of the ester group in the final product depended greatly on the molar ratio of AA to triflic acid. The polymerization mechanism is discussed. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The synthesis and characterization of a photocleavable block copolymer containing an ortho‐nitrobenzyl (ONB) linker between poly(methyl methacrylate) and poly(d ‐lactide) blocks is presented here. The block copolymers were synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of MMA followed by ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of d ‐Lactide and ROP of d ‐lactide followed by ATRP of MMA from a difunctional photoresponsive ONB initiator, respectively. The challenges and limitations during synthesis of the photocleavable block copolymers using the difunctional photoresponsive ONB initiator are discussed. The photocleavage of the copolymers occurs under mild conditions by simple irradiation with 302 nm wavelength UV light (Relative intensity at 7.6 cm: 1500 μW/cm2) for several hours. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cationic ring‐opening polymerizations of 5‐alkyl‐ or 5,7‐dialkyl‐1,3‐dehydroadamantanes, such as 5‐hexyl‐ ( 4 ), 5‐octyl‐ ( 5 ), 5‐butyl‐7‐isobutyl‐ ( 6 ), 5‐ethyl‐7‐hexyl‐ ( 7 ), and 5‐butyl‐7‐hexyl‐1,3‐dehydroadamantane ( 8 ), were carried out with super Brønsted acids, such as trifluoromethanesulfonic acid or trifluoromethanesulfonimide in CH2Cl2 or n‐heptane. The ring‐opening polymerizations of inverted carbon–carbon bonds in 4–8 proceeded to afford corresponding poly(1,3‐adamantane)s in good to quantitative yields. Poly( 4–8 )s possessing alkyl substituents were soluble in 1,2‐dichlorobenzene, although a nonsubstituted poly(1,3‐adamantane) was not soluble in any organic solvent. In particular, poly( 8 ) exhibited the highest molecular weight at around 7500 g mol?1 and showed excellent solubility in common organic solvents, such as THF, CHCl3, benzene, and hexane. The resulting poly( 4–8 )s containing adamantane‐1,3‐diyl linkages showed good thermal stability, and 10% weight loss temperatures (T10) were observed over 400 °C. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Two types of three‐arm and four‐arm, star‐shaped poly(D,L ‐lactic acid‐alt‐glycolic acid)‐b‐poly(L ‐lactic acid) (D,L ‐PLGA50‐b‐PLLA) were successfully synthesized via the sequential ring‐opening polymerization of D,L ‐3‐methylglycolide (MG) and L ‐lactide (L ‐LA) with a multifunctional initiator, such as trimethylolpropane and pentaerythritol, and stannous octoate (SnOct2) as a catalyst. Star‐shaped, hydroxy‐terminated poly(D,L ‐lactic acid‐alt‐glycolic acid) (D,L ‐PLGA50) obtained from the polymerization of MG was used as a macroinitiator to initiate the block polymerization of L ‐LA with the SnOct2 catalyst in bulk at 130 °C. For the polymerization of L ‐LA with the three‐arm, star‐shaped D,L ‐PLGA50 macroinitiator (number‐average molecular weight = 6800) and the SnOct2 catalyst, the molecular weight of the resulting D,L ‐PLGA50‐b‐PLLA polymer linearly increased from 12,600 to 27,400 with the increasing molar ratio (1:1 to 3:1) of L ‐LA to MG, and the molecular weight distribution was rather narrow (weight‐average molecular weight/number‐average molecular weight = 1.09–1.15). The 1H NMR spectrum of the D,L ‐PLGA50‐b‐PLLA block copolymer showed that the molecular weight and unit composition of the block copolymer were controlled by the molar ratio of L ‐LA to the macroinitiator. The 13C NMR spectrum of the block copolymer clearly showed its diblock structures, that is, D,L ‐PLGA50 as the first block and poly(L ‐lactic acid) as the second block. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A novel nucleating agent, amidated potassium hydrogen phthalate intercalated layered double hydroxides (AP‐LDHs) were prepared using an amidation reaction. Through the structural characterization, it was found that AP‐LDHs had been successfully prepared. Meanwhile, the antibacterial activity of AP‐LDHs was studied. In order to improve the performance of poly (lactic acid) (PLA), PLA/AP‐LDHs nanocomposites were prepared by melt blending. Morphological analysis showed that PLA nanocomposites had an exfoliated structure. Mechanical properties test showed that the mechanical properties of PLA nanocomposites were enhanced. And the fracture scanning electron microscope analysis indicated that the PLA/AP‐LDHs nanocomposites exhibited ductile fracture characteristics. Moreover, differential scanning calorimetry and polarized optical microscopy analysis results demonstrated that the crystallization rate, nucleation density, and crystallinity of PLA/AP‐LDHs were improved. Thermogravimetric analysis and thermal degradation kinetics showed that the thermal stability of the PLA nanocomposites was significantly improved. 相似文献

An organocatalytic approach to controlled/living ring‐opening polymerizations (ROPs) of O‐carboxyanhydrides (OCAs) using N‐heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) as nucleophilic catalysts has been investigated. NHCs with different structures were used in order to compare the catalytic performances in the ROP of OCA of l ‐lactic acid. 1H NMR, SEC, and MALDI‐TOF MS measurements of the products clearly indicated a controlled/living manner of the polymerization. The controlled/living nature was further confirmed by kinetic and chain extension experiments. Additionally, polylol initiators were used to produce α,ω‐dihydroxy telechelic, 3‐, and 4‐armed star‐shaped polymers. Moreover, star‐shaped diblock copolymer, bearing methyl and phenyl side groups, has been successfully synthesized with OCA/NHC system. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Novel thermo‐responsive poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐block‐poly(l ‐lactide)‐block‐poly(N‐isopropylacylamide) (PNIPAAm‐b‐PLLA‐b‐PNIPAAm) triblock copolymers were successfully prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization of NIPAAm with Br‐PLLA‐Br macroinitiator, using a CuCl/tris(2‐dimethylaminoethyl) amine (Me6TREN) complex as catalyst at 25 °C in a N,N‐dimethylformamide/water mixture. The molecular weight of the copolymers ranges from 18,000 to 38,000 g mol?1, and the dispersity from 1.10 to 1.28. Micelles are formed by self‐assembly of copolymers in aqueous medium at room temperature, as evidenced by 1H NMR, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The critical micelle concentration determined by fluorescence spectroscopy ranges from 0.0077 to 0.016 mg mL?1. 1H NMR analysis in selective solvents confirmed the core‐shell structure of micelles. The copolymers exhibit a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) between 32.1 and 32.8 °C. The micelles are spherical in shape with a mean diameter between 31.4 and 83.3 nm, as determined by TEM and DLS. When the temperature is raised above the LCST, micelle size increases at high copolymer concentrations due to aggregation. In contrast, at low copolymer concentrations, decrease of micelle size is observed due to collapse of PNIPAAm chains. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. A series of tertiary aminosquaramides as bifunctional organocatalysts in the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of l ‐lactide (l ‐LA) were developed, allowing the activation of both the l ‐LA monomer and the alcohol group of the initiator/propagating species. Further, the impact of tertiary nitrogen substituents on catalytic activity in ROP of l ‐LA was explored. The tertiary aminosquaramide— an air‐stable and moisture‐stable catalyst—exhibited superior activity in contest with thiourea counterpart when both were equipped with a similar tertiary amine group. Kinetic and chain‐extension experiments indicated that the formed poly(l ‐LA) is featured with narrow polydispersity and high end‐group fidelity, hallmarks of a living polymerization process. The initiator efficiency was further executed at ease by preparation of an ABA triblock copolymer poly (l ‐LA)‐b‐poly (ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly (l ‐LA) in the presence of a dual‐headed PEG macroinitiator. 1H NMR titration experiments suggested a bifunctional catalytic mechanism, wherein both the l ‐LA monomer and the propagating hydroxyl group were activated en route to polymerization. The 1H NMR, SEC, and MALDI‐TOF MS measurements validated the quantitative incorporation of the initiator in the polymeric chains and enchainment over competitive trans‐esterification reaction. Overall, the structure‐activity relationships were surveyed to uncover aminosquaramide as a new bifunctional dual hydrogen‐bond donor catalyst for living ROP of l ‐LA. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Effects of carbon nanotubes (CNT) on the isothermal crystallization kinetics of poly(L ‐lactic acid) (PLLA) were quantitatively investigated using the Avrami equation and the secondary nucleation theory of Lauritzen and Hoffman. CNT via grafting modification with PLLA could well disperse in the PLLA matrix and give significantly enhanced crystallization rate and crystallinity of PLLA as analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry and polarized optical microscopy. Analysis of isothermal crystallization kinetics using the Avrami equation demonstrated that CNT significantly enhanced the bulk crystallization of PLLA. Analysis of spherulite growth kinetics using the secondary nucleation theory of Lauritzen and Hoffman found that CNT could expand the temperature range of the crystallization regime III of PLLA. Values of the nucleation constant (Kg) in crystallization regimes III and II of PLLA both increased with increasing CNT contents. The Kg III/Kg II ratios were found to be close to the theoretical value 2 but were not clearly found to depend on the CNT contents. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this communication, we reported the sequence variation of stereocomplex crystals (SC) and homocrystals (HC) in poly(l ‐lactic acid)/poly(d ‐lactic acid) (PLLA/PDLA) racemic blends melts. It was evidenced that the emerging sequence of the SC and HC depends on the hydrogen bond formation in the melt, and the hydrogen bond is required for the stereocomplexation in PLLA/PDLA racemic blend. First, by combining a commercial fast‐scan chip‐calorimeter (Flash DSC 1) and micro‐FTIR, we found that hydrogen bonds were formed in the melt during cooling at 2.5 K/s, but not at 3000 K/s. Second, annealing the melt without hydrogen bonds at 100 °C led to HC emerging first, while annealing the melt with hydrogen bonds resulted in SC emerging at first. Third, the crystallization kinetics of the racemic blends after cooling to predefined Tc at 2.5 or 3000 K/s further verified that the hydrogen bonding can be inhibited effectively by cooling the racemic blends isotropic melt at fast enough rate. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of p‐dioxanone (PDO) under microwave irradiation with triethylaluminum (AlEt3) or tin powder as catalyst was investigated. When the ROP of PDO was catalyzed by AlEt3, the viscosity‐average molecular weight (Mv) of poly(p‐dioxanone) (PPDO) reached 317,000 g mol?1 only in 30 min, and the yield of PPDO achieved 96.0% at 80 °C. Tin powder was successfully used as catalyst for synthesizing PPDO by microwave heating, and PPDO with Mv of 106,000 g mol?1 was obtained at 100 °C in 210 min. Microwave heating accelerated the ROP of PDO catalyzed by AlEt3 or tin powder, compared with the conventional heating method. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The ring‐opening copolymerization of methyl ethylene phosphate (MEP, 2‐methoxy‐2‐oxo‐1,3,2‐dioxaphospholane) and ε‐caprolactone (CL) was performed in bulk with lanthanum tris(2,6‐di‐tert‐butyl‐4‐methylphenolate)s as single‐component catalyst, resulting in poly(ester‐phosphoester) random copolymers with high molecular weight and moderate molecular weight distribution. The properties of the copolymers were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, X‐ray diffractometer, dynamic mechanical analysis, and static water contact angle measurement. The crystallinities of the copolymers were reduced with the increase of MEP molar fraction in the products. Moreover, copolymers with enhanced hydrophilicity and lower glass transition temperature could be obtained with higher MEP content, which may provide potential applications in biomedical field. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of well‐defined ABC 3‐Miktoarm star‐shaped terpolymers [Poly(styrene)‐Poly(ethylene oxide)‐Poly(ε‐caprolactone)](PS‐PEO‐PCL) with different molecular weight was synthesized by combination of the “living” anionic polymerization with the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) using macro‐initiator strategy. Firstly, the “living” poly(styryl)lithium (PS?Li+) species were capped by 1‐ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether(EEGE) quantitatively and the PS‐EEGE with an active and an ethoxyethyl‐protected hydroxyl group at the same end was obtained. Then, using PS‐EEGE and diphenylmethylpotassium (DPMK) as coinitiator, the diblock copolymers of (PS‐b‐PEO)p with the ethoxyethyl‐protected hydroxyl group at the junction point were achieved by the ROP of EO and the subsequent termination with bromoethane. The diblock copolymers of (PS‐b‐PEO)d with the active hydroxyl group at the junction point were recovered via the cleavage of ethoxyethyl group on (PS‐b‐PEO)p by acidolysis and saponification successively. Finally, the copolymers (PS‐b‐PEO)d served as the macro‐initiator for ROP of ε‐CL in the presence of tin(II)‐bis(2‐ethylhexanoate)(Sn(Oct)2) and the star(PS‐PEO‐PCL) terpolymers were obtained. The target terpolymers and the intermediates were well characterized by 1H‐NMR, MALDI‐TOF MS, FTIR, and SEC. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 1136–1150, 2008 相似文献

Ring‐opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of thioether‐derived oxanorbornene imide ( M1 ) and its copolymerization with various cycloolefin comonomers such as cyclopentene ( M2 ), cyclopent‐3‐en‐1‐ol ( M3 ), cycloheptene ( M4 ), and cyclooctene ( M5 ) using Hoveyda–Grubbs second generation catalyst has been investigated. Polymerizations were performed at two different temperatures (0 and 25 °C) and the obtained functional poly(olefin)s were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance 1H and 13C (NMR), and infrared spectroscopy as well as size exclusion chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry, and thermogravimetric analysis analyses. Additionally, the dependence of the polymer composition on the reaction temperature and monomer feed was studied with time‐dependent 1H NMR experiments. Copolymerization of M1 with a five‐membered cycloolefin monomer M2 showed relatively low ROMP reactivity irrespective of the reaction conditions in comparison to M3 , M4 , and M5 monomers. In general, the degree of monomer incorporation into poly(olefin)s were determined in the order of M5 > M3 > M4 > M2 , and that sheds light on the effect of cycloolefin ring strain energies in the ruthenium‐alkylidene initiated ROMP. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel poly(l ‐lactide) (PLLA)/poly(d ‐lactide) (PDLA)/poly(tetrahydrofuran) (PTHF) multiblock copolymers with designed molecular structure were synthesized by a two‐stage procedure. Well‐defined PDLA‐PLLA‐PTHF‐PLLA‐PDLA pentablock copolymers were prepared by sequential ring opening polymerization of l ‐ and d ‐lactides starting from PTHF glycol, with the length of the (equimolar) PLLA and PDLA blocks being varied. Then, these dihydroxyl‐terminated pentamers were transformed into multiblock copolymers by melt chain‐extension with hexamethylene diisocyanate–being the first time that the coupling of pentablock units is reported. The successful formation of macromolecular chains with a multiblock and well‐defined architecture was demonstrated by 1H NMR spectroscopy. The thermal properties and structuring of the resulting materials were investigated by means of DSC and WAXD measurements and DMA analysis. Stereocomplexation was found to be promoted during solution and melt crystallization. This approach affords materials combining the high rigidity and strength (other than improved thermal resistance) of the hard stereocomplex crystallites with the flexibility imparted by the soft block, whereby their properties can be finely tailored through the composition of the basic pentablock units without limitations on the final molecular weight. The adopted reaction conditions make this process highly appealing in view of the possibility to perform it in extruder. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. Ring‐opening polymerization of rac‐ and meso‐lactide initiated by indium bis(phenolate) isopropoxides {1,4‐dithiabutanediylbis(4,6‐di‐tert‐butylphenolate)}(isopropoxy)indium ( 1 ) and {1,4‐dithiabutanediylbis(4,6‐di(2‐phenyl‐2‐propyl)phenolate)}(isopropoxy)indium ( 2 ) is found to follow first‐order kinetics for monomer conversion. Activation parameters ΔH? and ΔS? suggest an ordered transition state. Initiators 1 and 2 polymerize meso‐lactide faster than rac‐lactide. In general, compound 2 with the more bulky cumyl ortho‐substituents in the phenolate moiety shows higher polymerization activity than 1 with tert‐butyl substituents. meso‐Lactide is polymerized to syndiotactic poly(meso‐lactides) in THF, while polymerization of rac‐lactide in THF gives atactic poly(rac‐lactides) with solvent‐dependent preferences for heterotactic (THF) or isotactic (CH2Cl2) sequences. Indium bis(phenolate) compound rac‐(1,2‐cyclohexanedithio‐2,2′‐bis{4,6‐di(2‐phenyl‐2‐propyl)phenolato}(isopropoxy)indium ( 3 ) polymerizes meso‐lactide to give syndiotactic poly(meso‐lactide) with narrow molecular weight distributions and rac‐lactide in THF to give heterotactically enriched poly(rac‐lactides). © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of efficient catalysts, based on zinc alkoxides coordinated with NNO‐tridentate Schiff‐base ligands (L1H‐L6H), for ring opening polymerization of L ‐lactide have been prepared. The reactions of diethyl zinc (ZnEt2) with L1H‐L6H yielded [(μ‐L)ZnEt]2 ( 1a–6a ), respectively. Further reaction of compounds 1a–6a with benzyl alcohol (BnOH) produced the corresponding compounds of [LZn(μ‐OBn)]2 ( 1b–6b), respectively. X‐ray crystal structural studies reveal that all of these compounds 1a–6a are dimeric bridging through the phenolato oxygen atoms of the Schiff‐base ligand. However, the molecular structures of 1b–6b show a dimeric character bridging through the benzylalkoxy oxygen atoms. Ring‐opening polymerization of L ‐lactide, initiated by 1b–6b , proceeds rapidly with good molecular weight control and yields polymer with a very narrow molecular weight distribution. Experimental results show that the substituents on the imine carbon of the NNO‐ligand affect the reactivity of zinc complexes dramatically. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
