The oblique incidence of small-amplitude waves on an elastic semi-infinite composite plate floating on the free surface of finite-depth water is studied. The front part of a constant-width plate is highed to the basic part and has characteristics different from those of the basic part. The reflection and transmission coefficients of the waves and the vertical displacements of the plate are determined. It is shown that the heterogeneity of the plate material exerts a strong effect on surface-wave diffraction. The short-time transient response in an elastic semi-infinite plate for nonmixed stress boundary conditions at its end is investigated. The expansions of the end unknowns are constructed in order to complete the boundary conditions. The equations of motion are solved by a double transform technique. The wavefront behavior is derived with the method of steepest descent. The main structure of the wavefronts and the amplitude variation are discussed and compared with experimental results.  相似文献

At grazing incidence of a flexural P-wave, or at grazing incidence of an extensional SV-wave, the wave motion vanishes in the case of an isotropic, elastic plate with traction-free surfaces. However, it is shown that the wave motion in these critical cases can be obtained from the evanescent Rayleigh-Lamb solution, by using d'Alembert's limiting procedure.  相似文献

The propagation of waves in a homogeneous isotropic micropolar elastic cylindrical plate subjected to stress free conditions is investigated. The secular equations for symmetric and skew symmetric wave mode propagation are derived. At short wave limit, the secular equations for symmetric and skew symmetric waves in a stress free circular plate reduces to Rayleigh surface wave frequency equation. Thin plate results are also obtained. The amplitudes of displacements and microrotation components are obtained and depicted graphically. Some special cases are also deduced from the present investigations. The secular equations for symmetric and skew symmetric modes are also presented graphically.  相似文献

The T-matrix method is applied to the problem of scattering of Rayleigh-Lamb modes from a twodimensional cavity in an elastic plate. An infinite plate containing a finite through crack under tensile loading is analysed by Fourier transform based on the Kane-Mindlin kinematic assumptions for the quasi-three-dimensional deformation of plates in extension. The asymptotic expressions of stress and displacement fields near the crack tip, the variation of the stress intensity factor with the plate-thickness and the three-dimensional deformation zone near the crack tip are investigated. The results of the analysis show that, (a) the crack-tip stress and displacement fields accounting for the plate-thickness effects are different from the plane stress solutions and this is true even for extremely small parameter (=1–vh/6 a). In a very small region near the crack tip, plane strain solutions prevail; (b) the ratio of the stress intensity factor KI to the corresponding plane stress one KI, KI/K I o , approaches 1/(1–v2) as tends to zero; (c) plane stress solutions can give satisfactory results for points a distance from the crack tip greater than about three-fourths of the plate-thickness; (d) the linear elastic result for the zone of three-dimensional effects is approximately valid for an elasto-plastic material with linear strain-hardening when the plastic tangential mudulus Et is not very small.The Project Supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China.  相似文献

The paper deals with the plane problem of steady-state time harmonic vibrations of an infinite elastic plate resting on a water-saturated porous solid. The displacements of the plate are described by means of the linear theory of small elastic oscillations. The motion of the two-phase medium is studied within the framework of Biot's linear theory of consolidation. The main interest is focused on the investigation of properties of the Rayleigh-type waves propagating alongside of the contact surface between the plate and the porous half-space. In particular, the dependence of the phase velocity and attenuation of the waves on the plate stiffness, mass coupling coefficient, and degree of saturation of the medium is studied. Besides, for the limiting case of an infinitely thin plate, the comparison of the wave characteristics is carried out with those of the pure Rayleigh waves.  相似文献

Based on the shear spring model, the propagation of Love wave in two-layered piezoelectric/elastic composite plates under the influence of interfacial defect is investigated. The piezoelectric layer is electrically shorted at both top and bottom surfaces. The wave form solutions of the piezoelectric and elastic layers are obtained, and the dispersion equation is derived by subjecting the boundary conditions and the continuity conditions to the obtained wave form solutions. Numerical results are performed for PZT4/aluminum composite plate. The phase velocities and the mode shapes of mechanical displacement and electric potential are illustrated graphically. The results show that both the interfacial defect and the thickness ratio between the piezoelectric and elastic layers have significant effect on the propagation characteristics of Love wave. One important feature is observed that the interfacial defect always decreases the phase velocities.  相似文献

The steady-state response of an infinite plate to a steadily moving line load is studied. The nonlinear plate theory of Herrmann is used. The plate response is governed by a set of nonlinear differential equations and, in addition, must satisfy the “radiation” conditions. Appropriate radiation conditions for the present nonlinear problem are developed. Exact solutions representing nonlinear waves generated by the moving load are constructed.  相似文献

The study of the reflection and transmission of low frequency SH waves incident upon a rough interface in an elastic plate is undertaken by employing a theory of acoustic wave scattering from rough surfaces originally due to Biot and subsequently generalised to the case of elastic media. In this theory the interface is replaced by a distribution of voids/asperities whose individual size is small compared to the excitation wavelength. We plot the absolute values of the reflection and transmission coefficients versus frequency when a single symmetric SH plate mode is used as the input excitation. The different types of inclusions are used to simulate the rough surface are the hollow, fluid filled and aluminum spheres. Lastly, the loss of energy due to scattering is also estimated for the different inclusion distributions considered.  相似文献

Linear and nonlinear analyses of water waves in an elastic vessel are carried out to study the dramatic phenomena of Dragon Wash as well as related controllable experiments. It is proposed that the capillary edge waves are generated by parametric resonance, which is shown to be a possible mechanism for both rectangular an circular vessels. For circular vessel, the normal geometric resonance is also operating, thus greatly enhance the dramatic effect. The mechanism of nonlinear mode-mode interaction is proposed for the generation of axisymmetric low-frequency gravity waves by the high- frequency external excitation. A simple model system is studied numerically to demonstrate explicitly this interaction mechanism.  相似文献

It is shown that a fracture in an elastic plate floating on the surface of a shallow liquid layer is a waveguide along which wave energy can be transported. The edge wave velocity is less than the velocity of flexural-gravity waves. The existence of an antisymmetric edge wave mode depends on the Poisson's ratio of the elastic plate. Moscow. Equations for three nonlinear approximations of a wave perturbation in a homogeneous ideal incompressible fluid covered by a thin elastic plate are obtained using the method of multiple scales and taking into account that the acceleration of vertical flexural displacements of the plate is nonlinear. Based on the obtained equations, asymptotic expansions up third-order terms are constructed for the fluid velocity potential and the perturbations of the plate-fluid interface (plate bending) caused by a traveling periodic wave of finite amplitude. The wave characteristics are analyzed as functions of the elastic modulus and thickness of the plate and the length and tilt of the initial fundamental harmonic wave.  相似文献

Based on the theory of elastic dynamics, the scattering of elastic waves and dynamic stress concentration in fiber-reinforced composite with interfaces are studied. Analytical expressions of elastic waves in different medium areas are presented and an analytic method of solving this problem is established. The mode coefficients are determined by means of the continuous conditions of displacement and stress on the boundary of the interfaces. The influence of material properties and structural size on the dynamic stress concentration factors near the interfaces is analyzed. It indicates that they have a great influence on the dynamic properties of fiber-reinforced composite. As examples, numerical results of dynamic stress concentration factors near the interfaces are presented and discussed. This paper provides reliable theoretical evidence for the study of dynamic properties in fiber-reinforced composite. Recent experiments related to the Dragon Wash phenomena showed that axisymmetric capillary waves appear first from excitation, and circumferential capillary waves appear after increase of the excitation strength. Based on this new finding, a theory of parametric resonance is developed in detail to explain the on-set of the prominent circumferential capillary waves. Numerical computation is also carried out and the results agree generally with the experiments. Analysis and numerical computation are also presented to explain the generation of axisymmetric low-frequency gravity waves by the high-frequency external excitation.  相似文献

We consider a plane problem of propagation of unsteady waves in a plane layer of constant thickness filled with a homogeneous linearly elastic isotropic medium in the absence of mass forces and with zero initial conditions. We assume that, on one of the layer boundaries, the normal stresses are given in the form of the Dirac delta function, the tangential stresses are zero, and the second boundary is rigidly fixed. The problem is solved by using the Laplace transform with respect to time and the Fourier transform with respect to the longitudinal coordinate. The normal displacements at an arbitrary point are obtained in the form of finite sums.  相似文献
