Intermediates formed during reduction of Fe(2)(mu-PPh(2))(2)(CO)(6) (1) in the presence of protons have been identified by spectroelectrochemical, continuous-flow, and interrupted-flow techniques. The mechanism for electrocatalytic proton reduction suggested by these observations yields digital simulation of the voltammetry in close agreement with measurements conducted in THF over a range of acid concentrations. The mechanism for electrocatalytic proton reduction involves initial formation of the dianion, 1(2-), which is doubly protonated prior to further reduction and dihydrogen elimination. The IR spectra of the singly and doubly protonated forms of 1(2-) indicate structures corresponding to [FeH(CO)(3)(mu-PPh(2))(2)Fe(CO)(3)](-) (1H-) and FeH(CO)(3)(mu-PPh(2))(2)FeH(CO)(3) (1H(2)). The thiolato and dithiolato analogues of 1 exhibit electrocatalytic proton reduction associated with the two-electron reduction step, and this implies that the corresponding two-electron reduced doubly protonated species is unstable with respect to dihydrogen elimination. The stability of 1H(2) is most likely to be due to the weak interactions between the iron centers of the flattened [2Fe2P] core. Whereas 1H(2) is stable in the absence of a reducing potential, 1H- rearranges rapidly to a product previously described as [Fe(2)(mu-PPh(2))(mu-CO)(PHPh(2))(CO)(5)](-) (1H-(W)). Another protonation product of 1(2-), previously formulated as [Fe(2)(mu-PPh(2))(2)(mu-CO)H(CO)(5)](-), has been reformulated as [Fe(2)(mu-PPh(2))(mu-CO)(CO)(6)](-) (2) on the basis of a range of spectroscopic measurements. Solution EXAFS measurements of 1, 1(2-), 1H-(W), and 2 are reported, and these yield model-independent Fe-Fe distances of 2.61 (1), 3.58 (1(2-)), 2.58 (1H-(W)), and 2.59 A (2). The presence of an Fe-Fe bond for both 1H-(W) and 2 is a key aspect of the proposed structures, and this strongly supports the deductions based on spectroscopic evidence. The fits of the solution EXAFS to different structural models give statistics in agreement with the proposed structures.  相似文献

An N-heterocyclic carbene containing [FeFe]H(2)ase model complex, whose X-ray structure displays an apical carbene, shows an unexpected two-electron reduction to be involved in its electrocatalytic dihydrogen production. Density functional calculations show, in addition to a one-electron Fe-Fe reduction, that the aryl-substituted N-heterocyclic carbene can accept a second electron more readily than the Fe-Fe manifold. The juxtaposition of these two one-electron reductions resembles the [FeFe]H(2)ase active site with an FeFe di-iron unit joined to the electroactive 4Fe4S cluster.  相似文献

IR spectroelectrochemistry of Fe4{Me(CH2S)3}2(CO)8 (4Fe6S) in the nu(CO) region shows that the neutral and anion forms have all their CO groups terminally bound to the Fe atoms; however, for the dianion there is a switch of the coordination mode of at least one of the CO groups. The available structural and nu(CO) spectra are closely reproduced by density-functional theory calculations. The calculated structure of 4Fe6S2- closely mirrors that of the diiron subsite of the [Fe-Fe] hydrogenase H cluster with a bridging CO group and an open coordination site on the outer Fe atom of pairs of dithiolate-bridged Fe0FeII subunits connected by two bridging thiolates. Geometry optimization based on the all-terminal CO isomer of 4Fe6S2- does not give a stable structure but reveals a second-order saddle point ca. 11.53 kcal mol(-1) higher in energy than the CO-bridged form. Spectroelectrochemical studies of electrocatalytic proton reduction by 4Fe6S show that slow turnover from the primary reduction process (E1/2'=-0.71 V vs Ag/AgCl) involves rate-limiting protonation of 4Fe6S- followed by reduction to H:4Fe6S-. Rapid electrocatalytic proton reduction is obtained at potentials sufficient to access 4Fe6S2-, where the rate of dihydrogen elimination from the FeIIFeII core of 4Fe6S is ca. 500 times faster than that from the FeIFeI core of Fe2(mu-S(CH2)3S)(CO)6. The dramatically increased rate of electrocatalysis obtained from 4Fe6S over all previously identified model compounds appears to be related to the features uniquely common between it and the H-cluster, namely, that turnover involves the same formal redox states of the diiron unit (FeIFeII and Fe0FeII), the presence of an open site on the outer Fe atom of the Fe0FeII unit, and the thiolate-bridge to a second one-electron redox unit.  相似文献

Electrochemical reduction of Fe(2)(mu-pdt)(CO)(6) 1 (pdt = propane-1,3-dithiolate) leads initially to a short-lived species, 1-, then subsequently to two-electron reduced products, including a CO-bridged diiron compound, 1B. The assignment of the redox level of 1- is based on EPR and UV-vis spectra together with the observation that a CO-saturated solution of 1- decays to give 1 and 1B. Hydride reduction of 1 also results in formation of 1B via a relatively long-lived formyl species, 1(formyl). Despite its involvement in hydride transfer reactions, 1B is formulated as [Fe(2)(mu-S(CH(2))(3)SH)(mu-CO)(CO)(6)](-) based on a range of spectroscopic measurements together with the Fe-Fe separation of 2.527 A (EXAFS). Electrocatalytic proton reduction in the presence of 1 in moderately strong acids has been examined by electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical techniques. The acid concentration dependence of the voltammetry is modeled by a mechanism with two electron/proton additions leading to 1H(2), where dissociation of dihydrogen leads to recovery of 1. Further reduction processes are evident at higher acid concentrations. Whereas free CO improves the reversibility of the electrochemistry of 1, CO inhibits electrocatalytic proton reduction, and this occurs through side reactions involving a dimeric species formed from 1-.  相似文献

An unprecedented, intramolecular metal-to-metal silyl ligand migration reaction has been discovered in a series of phosphido-bridged iron-platinum complexes and which may be triggered by an external nucleophile. Thus, reaction of solutions of [(OC)3-(R1/3Si)Fe(mu-PR2R3)Pt(1,5-COD) (1a R1 = OMe, R2 = 3 = Ph; 1b R1 = OMe, R2 = R3 = Cy; 1c R1 = Ph, R2 = R3 = Ph; 1d R1 = Ph, R2 = R3 = Cy; 1e R1 = Ph, R1 = H, R3 = Ph) in CH2Cl2 with CO rapidly afforded the corresponding complexes [(OC)4Fe(mu-PR2R3)Pt(SiR1/3)-(CO)] (2a-e) in which the silyl ligand has migrated from Fe to Pt, while two CO ligands have been ligated, one on each metal. When 1a or 1c was slowly treated with two equivalents of tBuNC at low temperature, quantitative displacement of the COD ligand was accompagnied by silyl migration from Fe to Pt and coordination of an isonitrile ligand to Fe and to Pt to give [(OC)3-(tBuNC)Fe(mu-PPh2)Pt[Si(OMe)3](CNtBu)] (3a) and [(OC)3(tBuNC)-Fe(mu-PPh2)Pt[SiPh3](CNtBu)] (3c). Reaction of 2a with one equivalent of tBuNC selectively led to substitution of the Pt-bound CO to give [(OC)4-Fe(mu-PCy2)Pt[Si(OMe)3](CNtBu)] (4b), which reacted with a second equivalent of tBuNC to give [(OC)4Fe(mu-PCy2)-Pt[Si(OMe)3](CNtBu)2] (5b) in which the metal-metal bond has been cleaved. Opening of the Fe-Pt bond was also observed upon reaction of 3a with tBuNC to give [(OC)3(tBuNC)-Fe(mu-PPh2)Pt[Si(OMe)3](CNtBu)2] (6). The silyl ligand migrates from Fe, in which it is trans to mu-PR2R3 in all the metal-metal-bonded complexes, to a position cis to the phosphido bridge on Pt. However, in 5a,b and 6 with no metal-metal bond, the Pt-bound silyl ligand is trans to the phosphido bridge. The intramolecular nature of the silyl migration, which may be formally viewed as a redox reaction, was established by a cross-over experiment consisting of the reaction of 1a and 1d with CO; this yielded exclusively 2a and 2d. The course of the silyl-migration reaction was found to depend a) on the steric properties of the -SiR1/3 ligand, and for a given mu-PR2R3 bridge (R2 = R3 = Ph), the migration rate decreases in the sequence Si(OMe)3> SiMe2Ph> SiMePh2>SiPh3; b) on the phosphido bridge and for a given silyl ligand (R1 = OMe), the migration rate decreases in the order mu-PPh2 > mu-PHCy; c) on the external nucleophile since reaction of 1c with two equivalents of P(OMe)3, P(OPh)3 or Ph2PCH2C(O)Ph led solely to displacement of the COD ligand with formation of 11a-c, respectively, whereas reaction with two equivalents of tBuNC gave the product of silyl migration 3c. Reaction of [(OC)3-[(MeO)3Si]Fe(mu-PPh2)Pt(PPh3)2] (7a) with tBuNC (even in slight excess) occurred stereoselectively with replacement of the PPh3 ligand trans to mu-PPh2, whereas reaction with CO led first to [(OC)3((MeO)3Si)Fe(mu-PPh2)Pt(CO)-(PPh3)] (8a), which then isomerized to the migration product [(OC)4Fe(mu-PPh2)Pt[Si(OMe)3](PPh3)] (9a). Most complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H, 31P, 13C, and 29Si NMR spectroscopy, and in five cases by X-ray diffraction.  相似文献

Hydrogenases catalyze the reversible oxidation of dihydrogen to protons and electrons. The structures of two Fe-only hydrogenases have been recently reported [Peters, J. W.; Lanzilotta, W. N.; Lemon, B. J.; Seefeldt, L. C. Science 1998, 282, 1853-1858. Nicolet, Y.; Piras, C.; Legrand, P.; Hatchikian, E. C.; Fontecilla-Camps, J. C. Structure 1999, 7, 13-23], showing that the likely site of dihydrogen activation is the so-called [2Fe](H) cluster, where each Fe ion is coordinated by CO and CN(-) ligands and the two metals are bridged by a chelating S-X(3)-S ligand. Moreover, the presence of a water molecule coordinated to the distal Fe2 center suggested that the Fe2 atom could be a suitable site for binding and activation of H(2). In this contribution, we report a density functional theory investigation of the structural and electronic properties of complexes derived from the [(CO)(CH(3)S)(CN)Fe(II)(mu-PDT)Fe(II)(CO)(2)(CN)](-1) species, which is related to the [2Fe](H) cluster observed in Fe-only hydrogenases. Our results show that the structure of the [2Fe](H) cluster observed in the enzyme does not correspond to a stable form of the isolated cluster, in the absence of the protein. As a consequence, the reactivity of [(CO)(CH(3)S)(CN)Fe(II)(mu-PDT)Fe(II)(CO)(2)(CN)](-1) derivatives in solution may be expected to be quite different from that of the active site of Fe-only hydrogenases. In fact, the most favorable path for H(2) activation involves the two metal atoms and one of the bridging S atoms and is associated with a very low activation energy (5.3 kcal mol(-1)). The relevance of these observations for the catalytic properties of Fe-only hydrogenases is discussed in light of available experimental and theoretical data.  相似文献

Three N-substituted selenium-bridged diiron complexes [{(mu-SeCH2)2NC6H4R}Fe2(CO)6] (R = 4-NO2, 7; R = H, 8; R = 4-CH3, 9) were firstly prepared as biomimetic models for the Fe-Fe hydrogenases active site. Models could be generated by the convergent reaction of [(mu-HSe)2Fe2(CO)6] (6) with N,N-bis(hydroxymethyl)-4-nitroaniline (1), N,N-bis(hydroxymethyl)aniline (2), and N,N-bis(hydroxymethyl)-4-methylaniline (3) in 46-52% yields. All the new complexes were characterized by IR, 1H and 13C NMR and HRMS spectra and their molecular structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The redox properties of and their dithiolate analogues [{(mu-SCH2)2NC6H4R}Fe2(CO)6] (R = 4-NO2, 7s; R = H, 8s; R = 4-CH3, 9s ) were evaluated by cyclic voltammograms. The electrochemical proton reduction by and were investigated in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid (HOTs) to evaluate the influence of changing the coordinating S atoms of the bridging ligands to Se atoms on the electrocatalytic activity for proton reduction.  相似文献

Reaction of unsaturated (44e (-) skeleton) [PdPt 2(mu-PPh 2) 2(mu-P 2Ph 4)(R F) 4] 4 with Br (-) produces the saturated (48e (-) skeleton) complex [NBu 4][(R F) 2Pt(mu-PPh 2)(mu-Br)Pd(mu-PPh 2)(mu-P 2Ph 4)Pt(R F) 2] 5 without any M-M' bond. Attempts to eliminate Br (-) of 5 with Ag (+) in CH 2Cl 2 as a solvent gives a mixture of [(R F) 2Pt (III)(mu-PPh 2) 2Pt (III)(R F) 2] and some other unidentified products as a consequence of oxidation and partial fragmentation. However, when the reaction of 5 with Ag (+) is carried out in CH 3CN, no oxidation is observed but the elimination of Br (-) and the formation of [(R F) 2(CH 3CN)Pt(mu-PPh 2)Pd(mu-PPh 2)(mu-P 2Ph 4)Pt(R F) 2] 6 (46e (-) skeleton), a complex with a Pt-Pd bond, takes place. It is noteworthy that the reaction of 5 with TlPF 6 in CH 2Cl 2 does not precipitate TlBr but forms the adduct [(R F) 2PtTl(mu-PPh 2)(mu-Br)Pd(mu-PPh 2)(mu-P 2Ph 4)Pt(R F) 2] 7 with a Pt-Tl bond. Likewise, 5 reacts with [AgOClO 3(PPh 3)] in CH 2Cl 2 forming the adduct [AgPdPt 2(mu-Br)(mu-PPh 2) 2(mu-Ph 2P-PPh 2)(R F) 4(PPh 3)] 8, which contains a Pt-Ag bond. Both adducts are unstable in a CH 3CN solution, precipitating TlBr or AgBr and yielding the unsaturated 6. The treatment of [NBu 4] 2[(R F) 2Pt(mu-PPh 2) 2Pd(mu-PPh 2) 2Pt(R F) 2] in CH 3CN with I 2 (1:1 molar ratio) at 233 K yields a mixture of 4 and 6, which after recrystallization from CH 2Cl 2 is totally converted in 4. If the reaction with I 2 is carried out at room temperature, a mixture of the isomers [NBu 4][(R F) 2Pt(mu-PPh 2)(mu-I)Pd(mu-PPh 2)(mu-P 2Ph 4)Pt(R F) 2] 9 and [NBu 4][(R F)(PPh 2R F)Pt(mu-PPh 2)(mu-I)Pd(mu-PPh 2) 2Pt(R F) 2] 10 are obtained. The structures of the complexes have been established on the bases of NMR data, and the X-ray structures of 5- 8 have been studied. The relationship between the different complexes has been studied.  相似文献

New cobalt-containing secondary phosphine oxides [(mu-PPh(2)CH(2)PPh(2))Co(2)(CO)(4){mu,eta-PhC[triple chemical bond]CP(==O)(H)(R)}] (8 a: R=tBu; 8 b: R=Ph) were prepared by reaction of secondary phosphine oxides PhC[triple chemical bond]CP- (==O)(H)(R) (6 a: R=tBu; 6 b: R=Ph) with dppm-bridged dicobalt complex [(mu-PPh(2)CH(2)PPh(2))Co(2)(CO)(6)] (2). The molecular structures of 8 a and 8 b were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Although palladium-catalyzed Heck reactions employing 8 b as ligand gave satisfying results, 8 a performed poorly in the same reaction. Judging from these results, a tautomeric equilibrium between 8 b and its isomeric form [(mu-PPh(2)CH(2)PPh(2))Co(2)(CO)(4){mu,eta-PhC[triple chemical bond]CP(OH)(Ph)}] 8 b' indeed takes place, but it is unlikely between 8 a and [(mu-PPh(2)CH(2)PPh(2))Co(2)(CO)(4){mu,eta-PhC[triple chemical bond]CP(OH)(tBu)}] (8 a'). The DFT studies demonstrated that reasonable activation energies for the tautomeric conversions can be achieved only via a bimolecular pathway. Since a tBu group is much larger than a Ph group, the conversion is presumably only feasible in the case of 8 bright harpoon over left harpoon8 b', but not in the case of 8 aright harpoon over left harpoon8 a'. Another cobalt-containing phosphine, namely, [(mu-PPh(2)CH(2)PPh(2))Co(2)(CO)(4){mu,eta-PhC[triple chemical bond]CP(NEt(2))(tBu)}] (7 a), and its oxidation product [(mu-PPh(2)CH(2)PPh(2))Co(2)(CO)(4){mu,eta-PhC[triple chemical bond]CP(==O)(NEt(2))(tBu)}] 7 a' were prepared from the reaction of PhC[triple chemical bond]CP(NEt(2))(tBu) (5 a) with 2. The molecular structures of 7 a and 7 a' were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The phosphorus atom is surrounded by substituents in a tetrahedral environment. A P--N single bond (1.676(3) A) is observed in the molecular structure of 7 a. Heck reactions employing 7 a/Pd(OAc)(2) as catalyst system exhibited efficiency comparable to that of 8 a/Pd(OAc)(2).  相似文献

1-Trimethylsilylphosphirane, C2H4PSiMe3, has been prepared on a multi gram scale from P(SiMe3)3 via CICH2CH2P(SiMe3)2. C2H4PSiMe3 is readily susceptible to protonolysis forming the thermally unstable parent phosphirane, C2H4PH, in good yields. Reaction of C2H4PSiMe3 with fac-M(CO)3(CH3CN)3 (M = Cr, Mo) or [Fe(eta5-C5H5)(eta6-C6H6)](PF6) give rise tofac-M(CO)3(C2H4PSiMe3)3 and [Fe(eta5-C5H5)(C2H4PSiMe3)3](PF6) respectively. Protonolysis of the free or coordinated 1-trimethylsilylphosphirane readily causes P-Si cleavage to give rise to the parent C2H4PH or the respective complexes,fac-M(CO)3(C2H4PH)3 andfac-[Fe(eta5-C5H5)(C2H4PH)3](PF6) in situ. All new complexes are characterised by analytical and spectroscopic methods and the X-ray crystal structures of fac-Cr(CO)3(C2H4PSiMe3)3 and fac-Mo(CO)3(C2H4PH)3 have also been determined.  相似文献

Optimized structures for the redox species of the diiron active site in [Fe]-hydrogenase as observed by FTIR and for species in the catalytic cycle for the reversible H(2) oxidation have been determined by density-functional calculations on the active site model, [(L)(CO)(CN)Fe(mu-PDT)(mu-CO)Fe(CO)(CN)(L')](q)(L = H(2)O, CO, H(2), H(-); PDT = SCH(2)CH(2)CH(2)S, L' = CH(3)S(-), CH(3)SH; q = 0, 1-, 2-, 3-). Analytical DFT frequencies on model complexes (mu-PDT)Fe(2)(CO)(6) and [(mu-PDT)Fe(2)(CO)(4)(CN)(2)](2)(-) are used to calibrate the calculated CN(-) and CO frequencies against the measured FTIR bands in these model compounds. By comparing the predicted CN(-) and CO frequencies from DFT frequency calculations on the active site model with the observed bands of D. vulgaris [Fe]-hydrogenase under various conditions, the oxidation states and structures for the diiron active site are proposed. The fully oxidized, EPR-silent form is an Fe(II)-Fe(II) species. Coordination of H(2)O to the empty site in the enzyme's diiron active center results in an oxidized inactive form (H(2)O)Fe(II)-Fe(II). The calculations show that reduction of this inactive form releases the H(2)O to provide an open coordination site for H(2). The partially oxidized active state, which has an S = (1)/(2) EPR signal, is an Fe(I)-Fe(II) species. Fe(I)-Fe(I) species with and without bridging CO account for the fully reduced, EPR-silent state. For this fully reduced state, the species without the bridging CO is slightly more stable than the structure with the bridging CO. The correlation coefficient between the predicted CN(-) and CO frequencies for the proposed model species and the measured CN(-) and CO frequencies in the enzyme is 0.964. The proposed species are also consistent with the EPR, ENDOR, and M?ssbauer spectroscopies for the enzyme states. Our results preclude the presence of Fe(III)-Fe(II) or Fe(III)-Fe(III) states among those observed by FTIR. A proposed reaction mechanism (catalytic cycle) based on the DFT calculations shows that heterolytic cleavage of H(2) can occur from (eta(2)-H(2))Fe(II)-Fe(II) via a proton transfer to "spectator" ligands. Proton transfer to a CN(-) ligand is thermodynamically favored but kinetically unfavorable over proton transfer to the bridging S of the PDT. Proton migration from a metal hydride to a base (S, CN, or basic protein site) results in a two-electron reduction at the metals and explains in part the active site's dimetal requirement and ligand framework which supports low-oxidation-state metals. The calculations also suggest that species with a protonated Fe-Fe bond could be involved if the protein could accommodate such species.  相似文献

The displacement of CO in a few simple Fe(I)-Fe(I) hydrogenase model complexes by bisphosphine ligands Ph2P-(CH2)n-PPh2 [with n = 1 (dppm) or n = 2 (dppe)] is described. The reaction of [{mu-(SCH2)2CH2}Fe2(CO)6] (1) and [{mu-(SCH2)2N(CH2CH2CH3)}Fe2(CO)6] (2) with dppe gave double butterfly complexes [{mu-(SCH2)2CH2}Fe2(CO)5(Ph2PCH2)]2 (3) and [{mu-(SCH2)2N(CH2CH2CH3)}Fe2(CO)5(Ph2PCH2)]2 (4), where two Fe2S2 units are linked by the bisphosphine. In addition, an unexpected byproduct, [{mu-(SCH2)2N(CH2CH2CH3)}Fe2(CO)5{Ph2PCH2CH2(Ph2PS)}] (5), was isolated when 2 was used as a substrate, where only one phosphorus atom of dppe is coordinated, while the other has been converted to P=S, presumably by nucleophilic attack on bridging sulfur. By contrast, the reaction of 1 and 2 with dppm under mild conditions gave only complexes [{mu-(SCH2)2CH2}Fe2(CO)5(Ph2PCH2PPh2)] (6) and [{mu-(SCH2)2N(CH2CH2CH3)}Fe2(CO)5(Ph2PCH2PPh2)] (8), where one ligand coordinated in a monodentate fashion to one Fe2S2 unit. Furthermore, under forcing conditions, the complexes [{mu-(SCH2)2CH2}Fe2(CO)4{mu-(Ph2P)2CH2}] (7) and [{mu-(SCH2)2N(CH2CH2CH3)}Fe2(CO)4{mu-(Ph2P)2CH2}] (9) were formed, where the phosphine acts as a bidentate ligand, binding to both the iron atoms in the same molecular unit. Electrochemical studies show that the complexes 3, 4, and 9 catalyze the reduction of protons to molecular hydrogen, with 4 electrolyzed already at -1.40 V versus Ag/AgNO3 (-1.0 V vs NHE).  相似文献

Complexes [{(mu-SCH2)2NCH2C6H5}{Fe(CO)2L(1)}{Fe(CO)2L(2)}] (L(1) = CO, L(2) = P(Pyr) 3, 2; L(1) = L(2) = P(Pyr)3, 3) were prepared, which have the lowest reduction potentials for the mono- and double-CO-displaced diiron complexes reported so far. Hydrogen evolution, driven by visible light, was successfully observed for a three-component system, consisting of a ruthenium polypyridine complex, the biomimetic model complex 2 or 3, and ascorbic acid as both electron and proton donor in CH3CN/H2O. The electron transfer from photogenerated Ru(bpy)3(+) to 2 or 3 was detected by laser flash photolysis. Under optimal conditions, the total turnover number for hydrogen evolution was 4.3 based on 2 and 86 based on Ru(bpy)3(2+) in a three-hour photolysis.  相似文献

Proposed electrocatalytic proton reduction intermediates of hydrogenase mimics were synthesized, observed, and studied computationally. A new mechanism for H(2) generation appears to involve Fe(2)(CO)(6)(1,2-S(2)C(6)H(4)) (3), the dianions {[1,2-S(2)C(6)H(4)][Fe(CO)(3)(μ-CO)Fe(CO)(2)](2-) (3(2-)), the bridging hydride {[1,2-S(2)C(6)H(4)][Fe(CO)(3)(μ-CO)(μ-H)Fe(CO)(2)]}(-), 3H(-)(bridging), and the terminal hydride 3H(-)(term-stag), {[1,2-S(2)C(6)H(4)][HFe(CO)(3)Fe(CO)(3)]}(-), as intermediates. The dimeric sodium derivative of 3(2-), {[Na(2)(THF)(OEt(2))(3)][3(2-)]}(2) (4) was isolated from reaction of Fe(2)(CO)(6)(1,2-S(2)C(6)H(4)) (3) with excess sodium and was characterized by X-ray crystallography. It possesses a bridging CO and an unsymmetrically bridging dithiolate ligand. Complex 4 reacts with 4 equiv. of triflic or benzoic acid (2 equiv. per Fe center) to generate H(2) and 3 in 75% and 60% yields, respectively. Reaction of 4 with 2 equiv. of benzoic acid generated two hydrides in a 1.7 : 1 ratio (by (1)H NMR spectroscopy). Chemical shift calculations on geometry optimized structures of possible hydride isomers strongly suggest that the main product, 3H(-)(bridging), possesses a bridging hydride ligand, while the minor product is a terminal hydride, 3H(-)(term-stag). Computational studies support a catalytic proton reduction mechanism involving a two-electron reduction of 3 that severs an Fe-S bond to generate a dangling thiolate and an electron rich Fe center. The latter iron center is the initial site of protonation, and this event is followed by protonation at the dangling thiolate to give the thiol thiolate [Fe(2)H(CO)(6)(1,2-SHSC(6)H(4))]. This species then undergoes an intramolecular acid-base reaction to form a dihydrogen complex that loses H(2) and regenerates 3.  相似文献

Facile substitution reactions of the two water ligands in the hydrophilic tetradentate phosphine complex cis-[Fe{(HOCH2)P{CH2N(CH2P(CH2OH)2)CH2}2P(CH2OH)}(H2O)2](SO4) (abbreviated to [Fe(L1)(H2O)2](SO4), 1) take place upon addition of Cl-, NCS-, N3(-), CO3(2-) and CO to give [Fe(L1)X2] (2, X = Cl; 4, X = NCS; 5, X=N3), [Fe(L1)(kappa2-O(2)CO)], 6 and [Fe(L1)(CO)2](SO4), 7. Treatment of 1 with acetic anhydride affords the acylated derivative [Fe{(AcOCH2)P{CH2N(CH2P(CH2OAc)2)CH2}2P(CH2OAc)}(kappa2-O(2)SO2)] (abbreviated to [Fe(L2)(kappa2-O(2)SO2)], 10), which has increased solubility over 1 in both organic solvents and water. Treatment of 1 with glycine does not lead to functionalisation of L1, but substitution of the aqua ligands occurs to form [Fe(L(1))(NH(2)CH(2)CO(2)-kappa(2)N,O)](HSO(4)), 11. Compound 10 reacts with chloride to form [Fe(L(2))Cl(2)] 12, and 12 reacts with CO in the presence of NaBPh4 to form [Fe(L2)Cl(CO)](BPh4) 13b. Both of the chlorides in 12 are substituted on reaction with NCS- and N3(-) to form [Fe(L2)(NCS)2] 14 and [Fe(L2)(N3)2] 15, respectively. Complexes 2.H2O, 4.2H2O, 5.0.812H2O, 6.1.7H2O, 7.H2O, 10.1.3CH3C(O)CH3, 12 and 15.0.5H2O have all been crystallographically characterised.  相似文献

A seven-electron cluster [Mo3(mu3-S){mu3-SC(CO(2)CH(3))=C(CO(2)CH(3))S}{mu-SC(CO(2)CH(3))=CH(CO(2)CH(3))}(dtp)3(mu-OAc)] [2, S2P(OC(2)H(5))2-; dtp = diethyldithiophosphate] and an organometallic cluster [Mo3(mu3-S){mu3-SC(CO(2)CH(3))=C(CO(2)CH(3))S}{mu-SC(CO(2)CH(3))CH(OCH(3))(CO2)}(dtp)2(CH(3)OH)(mu-OAc)](Mo-C) (3) were obtained by reaction in methanol of the sulfur-bridged trinuclear complex [Mo3(mu3-S)(mu-S)3(dtp)3(CH(3)CN)(mu-OAc)] (1) with dimethylacetylenedicarboxylate (DMAD). The X-ray structures of 2 and 3 revealed the adduct formation of two DMAD molecules to the respective Mo(3)S(4) cores. 2 is paramagnetic and obeys the Curie-Weiss law: the mu(eff) value at 300 K is 1.90 muB. The electron spin resonance signal was observed at 173 K. The density functional theory calculation of 2 demonstrated that the main components of the singly occupied molecular orbitals of alpha and beta spins are Mo d electrons and the main components of lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals are of Mo and the olefin moiety with one C-S bond. A one-electron reversible oxidation process of 2 was observed at E1/2 = -0.11 V vs Fc/Fc+. The electronic spectrum of 2 has a peak at 468 nm (epsilon = 2170 M(-1) cm(-1)) and shoulders at 640 (918) and 797 (605) nm, and 3 has shoulders at 441 (1740) and 578 (625) nm and a distinct peak at 840 (467) nm. An intermediate [Mo3(mu3-S){mu3-SC(CO(2)CH(3))=C(CO(2)CH(3))S}{mu-SC(CO(2)CH(3))=CH(CO(2)CH(3))}(dtp)3(mu-OAc)]+ (4) is tentatively suggested: a one-electron reduction of 4 gives 2, and a nucleophilic conjugate addition of CH(3)O- to the alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl group of 4 gives 3.  相似文献

The anion [Fe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CN)(CO)(4)(PMe(3))](-) (2(-)) is protonated by sulfuric or toluenesulfonic acid to give HFe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CN)(CO)(4)(PMe(3)) (2H), the structure of which has the hydride bridging the Fe atoms with the PMe(3) and CN(-) trans to the same sulfur atom. (1)H, (13)C, and (31)P NMR spectroscopy revealed that HFe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CN)(CO)(4)(PMe(3)) is stereochemically rigid on the NMR time scale with four inequivalent carbonyl ligands. Treatment of 2(-) with (Me(3)O)BF(4) gave Fe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CNMe)(CO)(4)(PMe(3)) (2Me). The Et(4)NCN-induced reaction of Fe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CO)(6) with P(OMe)(3) gave [Fe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CN)(CO)(4)[P(OMe)(3)]](-) (4). Spectroscopic and electrochemical measurements indicate that 2H can be further protonated at nitrogen to give [HFe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CNH)(CO)(4)(PMe(3))](+) (2H(2)(+)). Electrochemical and analytical data show that reduction of 2H(2)(+) gives H(2) and 2(-). Parallel electrochemical studies on [HFe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CO)(4)(PMe(3))(2)](+) (3H(+)) in acidic solutions led also to catalytic proton reduction. The 3H(+)/3H couple is reversible, whereas the 2H(2)(+)/2H(2) couple is not, because of the efficiency of the latter as a proton reduction catalyst. Proton reduction is proposed to involve protonation of reduced diiron hydrides. DFT calculations establish that the regiochemistry of protonation is subtly dependent on the coligands but is more favorable to occur at the Fe-Fe bond for [Fe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CN)(CO)(4)(PMe(3))](-) than for [Fe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CN)(CO)(4)(PH(3))](-) or [Fe(2)(S(2)C(3)H(6))(CN)(CO)(4)[P(OMe)(3)]](-). The Fe(2)H unit stabilizes the conformer with eclipsed CN and PMe(3) because of an attractive electrostatic interaction between these ligands.  相似文献

The quantitative addition of pyrazole (Hpz) to the 44 valence-electron, triangular cluster anion [Re3(mu 3-H)-(mu-H)3(CO)9]- gives the novel unsaturated anion [Re3(mu-H)4(CO)9(Hpz)]- (1, 46 valence electrons), which contains a pyrazole molecule that is terminally coordinated on a cluster vertex. Solidstate X-ray and IR analyses reveal a rather weak hydrogen-bonding interaction between the NH proton and one of the hydrides bridging the opposite triangular cluster edge (delta H degree = -3.1 kcal mol-1 from the Iogansen equation). Both IR and NMR data indicate that such a proton-hydride interaction is maintained in the major conformer present in CD2Cl2, but also provide evidence of the presence of minor conformers of 1 in which the NH proton is involved in an intermolecular hydrogen bond with the solvent. The mu-H...HN bond length evaluated in solution through the T1 minimum value (2.07 A) and that determined in the solid state by X-ray diffraction (2.05 A) are in good agreement. NMR experiments show that, in acetone, intermolecular N-H...solvent interactions replace the intramolecular dihydrogen bond. At room temperature in CH2Cl2, the pyrazole ligand in 1 is labile and 1 slowly "disproportionates" to [Re3(mu 3-H)-(mu-H)3(CO)9]- and [Re3(mu-H)3(CO)9-(mu-eta 2-pz)(Hpz)]-, with H2 evolution. Slow H2 evolution also leads to the formation of the anion [Re3(mu-H)3-(CO)9(pz)]- (5), in which the pyrazolate anion adopts a novel mu 3-eta 2-coordination mode, as revealed by a single-crystal X-ray analysis. The analysis of the bond lengths indicates that the pyrazolate anion in 5 acts as a six-electron donor, with loss of the aromaticity. The formation of 5 from 1 is much faster in solvents with a high dielectric constant, such as acetone or DMF. Anion 5 was also obtained from the reaction of pyrazole with [Re3(mu-H)3(CO)9(mu 3-CH3)]- through the intermediate formation of two isomeric addition derivatives and following CH4 evolution.  相似文献

A series of azadithiolate (adt)-bridged Fe-only hydrogenase model complexes, Fe2(CO)6(mu-adt)C6H4I-4 (1), Fe2(CO)6(mu-adt)C6H4C[triple bond]CR [R = C6H4NO2-4 (2), C6H4CHO-4 (3), C6H4NH2-4 (4), C6H4COOH-4 (5), C6H4COOCH2CH3-4 (6), C6H4F-4 (7), C6H5 (8), C6H4OCH3-4 (9), C6H4N(CH3)2-4 (10)], [Fe2(CO)5(PPh3)(mu-adt)C6H4I-4 (11), and Fe2(CO)5(PPh3)(mu-adt)C6H4C[triple bond]CC6H4NO2-4 (12), have been synthesized in high yields under mild conditions. The linear geometry and rigidity of a triple bond act as an effective bridge to anchor a functionality ranging from electron-donating to electron-accepting, even coordinative groups in the adt model complexes. X-ray crystal analysis of 2, 3, and 6-12 reveals that the model complexes retain the butterfly structure of Fe2S2 model analogues. A rigid phenylacetylene offers excellent control over the distance between the functional group and the active site of Fe2S2 model complexes. The unusual Fe-Fe distance and the angles found in the molecular packing of 6 are originated from the intriguing intermolecular C-H...O and C-H...S interactions. More importantly, electrochemical studies reveal that all of the complexes can catalyze electrochemical reduction of protons to molecular hydrogen, but the reduction potential for the electron-transfer step can be remarkably altered by the functionality R. The electroreductively active nitro group in 2 and 12 displays the enhanced current at a potential substantially less negative than the reduction of [Fe(I)Fe(I)] + e(-) --> [Fe(I)Fe(0)], which is most accessible and becomes the initial step. For complex 3, the second reduction peak for the electron-transfer step involves the contribution from the aldehyde functionality. As the electroreductively inactive groups are incorporated, the reduction process of [Fe(I)Fe(I)] + e(-) --> [Fe(I)Fe(0)] appears first and the second reduction peak for the electron-transfer step from the [Fe(I)Fe(0)] + e(-) --> [Fe(0)Fe(0)] process for 4-10 is clearly observed. Therefore, the order of electron and proton uptake is closely related to the electroreductively active functionality, R. Varying the nature of the functionality R leads to the electron-transfer step changes from the reduction of the electroreductively active R group to the active site of Fe2S2 model complexes subsequently. Accordingly, notwithstanding, acetic acid is too weak to protonate the series of 2-12, different reduction pathways can be followed, and the electrochemically catalyzed behavior may occur at different reduction levels.  相似文献
